Tommy, you missed some good racing. I just knew tony was going to lay down a 5.4 in his kranzel since he put down a 5.7 with a stock motor. It didn't happen. I only ran 6.1s with my 13 and 37 38 laps. One day I wil get 40 laps or you will. Some good racing though.

jones,
Talked to Casey last night, told him we was goin to Redstick this weekend, said he has to work to. Also said he was burnt-out of the oval thing. Building on to his shop and the baby coming has him tied up right now. Might be a while before we see him again.

That's what I figured. I know when the baby comes along we where not going to see him. He's less than a month away from being a father! Cool huh! I couldn't say the same would happen to me. Just don't know until the time comes.

I picked-up a new stock motor while in Br. It seems to be a pretty good motor. I would like to try it. Would there be a stock buggy class or what?

From what I understand or was told, they called people and asked if they wanted the job. Had no takers on the matter. Even called people that wasn't members and got denied. But I don't think that a regional realignment is the answer to the situation. May put a couple extra dollars in that directors pocket. There is a reason why folks don't want to join ROAR. The biggest being,"what does ROAR do for me". The same thing most insurance does until you need it. When I talked to Ed about what was going on, he told me his stipulations(sp) and I thought they was very reasonable, but they(ROAR) wouldn't do it. It's like he(Ed) said, they had a chance and blew it.

Jones,
jflack is the guy that came to the Turkey race to run on the big oval and had nobody to race with. That was really to bad because he really knows how to get around the place. Maybe thats what scared them off.

Hey guys whats the motor limit for gas truck

b4wizard
12-13-2004, 10:48 PM
It kind of depends. If your planning on going to an off-road event it's .12 for a 1/10th scale truck. If it's a monster, from what I've seen there is no limit. There is no rules for the dirt oval. Usually the track comes up with something so it won't get out of hand, "usually"

It's crazy that all the manufacturers build RTR's with .15 and larger. Then the first time you go to a "ROAR" race its illegal. But most places will let you run the engine that came in the truck as long as it still has the pull start on it. Most places will let u race. Regardless.

Whats the motor limit for yalls 1/10 truck?

b4wizard
12-14-2004, 10:26 AM
I believe most of the guys are running high dollar.12's. lol
Some are running the .15's that came with the RTR's.
I believe some have the more expensive .15
I don't think they have set a limit on them, but maybe one of them will answer more in depth.

Whats the motor limit for yalls 1/10 truck?Mike... Generally we run ROAR .12 outlaw motors or .15 pullstarts but as Tommy pointed out, if you got it, bring it.

Over time I've come to realize that we don't really need a motor limit in 1/10 scale 2WD truck (even though we have one). A ROAR legal .12, ether stock or outlaw, is more than enough power. I run a Rossi .12 Pixi outlaw and find that to keep the truck on the track and the dirve train in one piece, I have to detune the motor so much than I may run out fuel before the race ends. I really don't think running an .18 or .23 would be an advantage... you'll never put the power down and keep the truck going 'round and 'round.

Pearce runs a ROAR stock (3 port) Picco .12 and it halls a**. On the other hand the biggest motors anyone runs are the .15 RTRs and they seem underpowered. It's interesting to note that even though the RTR .15s are underpowered, they usually finish really well... just because they DON"T overpower the track or their equipment. I finished second in gas several weeks ago with an electrick truck. In theory it has 1/7 the power of the gas motors.

Gas is REALLY a tricky class. I think most folks GREATY underestimate the challanges at winning in gas consistently. I'm not keen on giving away all my secrets but my best one is that there is enough power and more is NOT better in gas. A good $200.00 ROAR legal outlaw is more power than I can handle.

The moster/Maxx/open class is a different story. I don't have a horse in that race so I won't comment.

Are you looking to buy a motor or just wanting to come race?

Bill Vail

A short list:
Clint: Rossi Pixi .12 outlaw
Bill: Rossi PIxi .12 outlaw
Pearce: Picco .12 3 port
Ryan: OFNA Picco 7 port (I think)
Donald: Picco .15 outlaw PS (I think).. I know it's a .15PS...
David: Sirio .12 outlaw
Dewy: ROAR outlaw ??
John Corkern: Picco .12 5 port (I think)

Any additions or corrections?

There was a .18 running this weekend. It was fast but really could not open it up on the track.

It's my opinion that in gas, more so than any other class, going fast has little to do with winning.

Mclake,
If your running a Losi with the stock Mach.15, just bring a 19 or 20 clutch bell. Those motors seem to run best with that gear.
I never figured why everyone wanted the Losi's, when the GT has a lot more gear choices to choose from. I guess the radio made the difference, but most people usually upgrade that to.
Hind sight being what it is, wish I would have kept mine.

Yea I know, the way some of the little engines sound are just too sweet.
They are a blast to drive and with some of the cheaper engines, you can tinker a little and if you mess it up, you really haven't lost anything.
And I like to tinker with stuff. I thought Tony was buying your stuff?
The Losi is a good truck, I just like the GT better. Go figure.lol

I can't wait for it to warm up a little. This cold, wet weather really is beginning to suck.

How's the hunt'n been going? Got anything to mount?

Oh almost forgot about that bran new toy you got. Has it seen the dirt yet?
Yep that really stinks you haven't had the chance to race it yet. Or have you.

Rufus
12-15-2004, 01:36 AM
Nope it is sitting in the floor ready to rock, but no dirt on it yet. Man it is so cold, I want to go to Ala this weekend but the highs arent going to get out of the 50s. My dad killed a really nice 8 point yesterday. I have been to busy with work and my house to really do anything. I still may go over to Ala this weekend, if you want to go just wholer later this week and we'll ride over. Now that I got my monster truck doing a lot better I want to run it. I think I have just about got the shocks right. And that other thing sitting here is just killing me I cant wait to grab some throttle!!!!!!!!!!

Tommy
I'll add that most folks are running a 20T clutch bell on the Picco, Rossi and Sirio. I do and I'm pretty sure Clint, Ryan and Pearce do. Even with the taller gearing there is enough torque to lift the front end.

Bill Vail

B.A. Sanders
12-15-2004, 10:37 AM
I know when I race over there, if it wasn't for the 20T clutch bell, it would be tough.
I run a Losi truck with the Mach .15 pull start and I've gotten two third place ribbons
out of a 7 to 8 truck main. It may not be first place, but I REALLY enjoy racing that
oval over there!

Ryan,
I would really like to go somewhere and race. But unfortunatly it will probally be after the first of the year before I make any road trips. Or when it decides to warm up a little. At least in the 40's after dark.
But thanks for the invite though. Be nice if we could do a little Sunday afternoon racing here.
