View Full Version : Mississippi Racers Thread Rufus 11-03-2004, 07:39 PM YES I am if we dont just get washed away! Ryan wjvail 11-04-2004, 10:45 AM B4 wrote..... People don't come here like they use to. It use to be that when we raced on Friday night everyone was friends. Now you have buggy guys, gas truck guys, and monster truck guys. No one talks from outside of their class. Like it's tension built up between all or like everyone is holding back on something. I've noticed it and others have told me that to. That's most of the reason I go out of town to race. Jones wrote.... yup yup! I think something has to be said... For the benifit of the out of town folks or others that are not as familiar with Meridain racing, nothing could be further from the truth. While it is true only 3 racers came down last Friday, it had NOTHING to do with above stated reasons. I had a stock buggy, brushless truck, and a gas truck in the party van fueled/charged and ready to race. Clint had the same plus a T-Maxx. Donald ran both gas truck and brushless truck. Rufus stopped by and I know he owns a buggy, gas truck, brushless truck and a monster truck. I've seen the track owner enter every class in a single night! Half of the brushless class runs the Maxx class. How could you possibly say that folks don't get along with the other classes? We are the same people! I've spent more time in others pitt's lately than my own! Tommy... I know this will not be taken well but I want to say it anyway. I'm not trying to offend... just something you need to think about. Most folks are wondering if you are trying to kill racing in Meridian. You've spent the better part of the last year posting things such as the above but I don't think I've seen you race more than 3 times since leaving the hobbyshop a year ago. Everyone understands you like to race buggys, on dirt, off-road. Since in Meridian we race oval it is easy to understand why you go out of town. That's great. But why do you need to be so critical of racing in Meridian? In general, I don't think there is tension between racers or the different classes (we ARE the racers of different classes) but I do think there is considerable tention between racing in Merdian and you. I'll say it again because it's important... I'm not saying this to make you mad. It's something you need to spend some time thinking about. Everyone would love to race with you. You are always fast and fun to talk to at the track but what people are telling me it that Tommy is trying to kill racing in Meridian and you should know that. Weather this is true or not I don't know but the fact remains that your constant negative attitude is not helping. The above quote is an example. Since I live here in Meridian I know that it's not the case but I worry that the out of town folks that aren't as familiar with Meridian racing may take it as fact. If I lived in Alabama (or anywhere else), read your above post, and hadn't been to Meridian before, I wouldn't drive over. I think those that have actully made the trip from out of town felt very welcome and enjoyed the nights racing... Regardless of what class they ran. Maybe they can correct me if I'm wrong. If Friday night rolls around and you've got nothing else to do, come down to the track and run your stuff for fame and glory. We'd all love to see you. If you find racing out of town better suited to your likes that's fantastic. If you'd like an off road track in Meridian, build one. If you do build one, I hope racers are more kind to your efforts to grow the entry numbers than you have been to Patriot Racing. Bill Vail jones 11-04-2004, 03:14 PM My yup yup was about the not being able to get things togather the day of racing after I was told the day before that the track wasn't going to be worked. Therefore I decided that there wouldn't be any buggy racing so I wasn't going to go. Monster truck is still broke from the last time. Is there going to be racing this friday? I think we need to start racing for money. So we would have a real reason to fus and bicker like old women! If ya'll can let me know a day before I will try to come race and support the track. if I don't know I can't go. It no onger matters to me if I race or not. Just let me know! Everyone have a good day! jones 11-04-2004, 03:20 PM Ok I was just told that the race track will be racing every single friday night unless it is raining. That's one way to put it! That's great! I think that is the way it should have been. (imo) jones 11-04-2004, 03:23 PM Now, i wonder If we can mix up the classes so everyone can run? like buggy mixed with truck. Monster truck mixed with gas truck? jones 11-04-2004, 03:28 PM dew,,,,,be dewbe dewwww ah dewbe dewbe dewwwbe dewbe dew! Can you name that song?!! jones 11-04-2004, 03:34 PM point well taken. I like the silent type! wjvail 11-04-2004, 07:12 PM Now, i wonder If we can mix up the classes so everyone can run? like buggy mixed with truck. Monster truck mixed with gas truck? Josh, You've brought up an intersting point and something I've been asking folks about since running my E-Truck with the G-Trucks. The last time I looked the buggy record was 39 laps and the E-truck record was also 39 laps. The Gas truck record is 54 laps for 5 min but really they are only running 50 or 51ish laps and the fact of the matter is most of them don't come close to finishing. That is almost exactly 10 laps per min for each class! I ran E-Truck with G-Truck and did OK. I don't see why we couldn't add buggy. The biggest question would be how the buggies would hold up in a 5 min heat. I would worry about running Monster trucks with the other classes. They are pretty big and take up a lot of track. I see a lot of broken parts when buggy meets BFT or LST. Bill Vail Patriot Racing 11-04-2004, 07:27 PM We will be racing Friday 11-05-04. Clint will be in town tomorrow to work the track. I drained the infield Wedsday night, so it should be OK for racing by Friday. Sorry this wasn't posted by 5:00 P.M. as requested. Pearce Dickson b4wizard 11-04-2004, 08:13 PM Mr Vail, Have you bumped your head. Why would I want to do that. Yes it's true I had rather run off-road an got jumped for suggesting to get one started if only for me to practice. I sincerely hope racing lives on in Meridian for a long time. I go to the LHS and get parts just like a lot of people, I don't go that much because I'm not hard on equipment. I have greatly appreciated Pearce for all he has done, he has ordered me everything I've asked. And I hope he continues to. If not, O well. I have also been several times when you wasn't there, so what's up with that if your basing your theory on attendance. If I decide to go out of town to race, that does not mean that I'm against racing in Meridian, I don't now where you get off saying I'm trying to kill racing. When I stated that no one come here like they used to, I was talking about this site. But thank you for the enlightment. If people are saying that I'm trying to kill racing, they are mistaken. I think you are trying to blame someone for the low turnouts, and I was the one. But thanks again. One thing about the track, like in the past, if there was any water or was to nasty to walk in. I did not want to take the chance of my car getting into it. I do want to ask one thing though, when someone told you that they thought I was trying to kill racing, why didn't you tell them otherwise if you was the so-called friend you claim. You are correct about one thing, how would you like it if someone got on here and slammed you as you have done. Now that would be something negative to do to someone. And by the way, I probally will not be there Friday night either. Tommy B.A. Sanders 11-04-2004, 09:01 PM Bill & Jones, we used to (T-town) run a wild card race at the end of the night. They would run anything and all together. I don't know if Tony still does it, but it was an interesting race. Although I did'nt run in it because of them monster trucks!! LOL! wjvail 11-04-2004, 09:03 PM Brent... who won? Would you run it without the M-Trucks? Bill Vail B.A. Sanders 11-04-2004, 09:08 PM Tommy, I found a short in my battery holder for my receiver, hope that is it. Let you know how it runs. Bill, it's been a while. Like I said, since Tony has run the track, I'm not sure if he's done it. But they run buggies, etruck, gtruck, emax, and gmax. Really not sure how it always come out. But was interesting. Ya, I would run with them. Brent b4wizard 11-04-2004, 09:28 PM Tommy, I found a short in my battery holder for my receiver, hope that is it. Let you know how it runs. Brent Brent, If your running the battery holder that comes with most radios, watch it closely. Usually the wires will break or as you found out get the coating wore of the wires. Tommy  jones 11-05-2004, 10:10 AM I might could see monster truck and gas truck. Maybe but monster truck and buggy! I'd feel bad if I ran over someones buggy! I think if buggy could run a 19-13 turn I think it could run with any thing. Just have to race and see how they compare. Ya i think a 19 turn buggy could runn with a brushless truck and gas truck. I don't know about anyone else but I know my 19 turn can run good for 10min. (long lasting, poor punch batts) jones 11-05-2004, 10:15 AM Whom all is planning on racing tonight? jones 11-05-2004, 11:24 AM Ok, I know I will be there tonight. Racer9 11-05-2004, 11:24 AM I am selling my b4, t4, xxxs touring car, mini t, bolink funny car, super brain charger, jr xr2i radio, and a x mod lathe all for $700 all cars have monster motors, hop ups, and extra bodies and tires. please pm if intrested, thanks Jonathan jones 11-05-2004, 11:27 AM I might even have someone show up with me! left turner 11-06-2004, 07:12 AM the wild card race was for people who hadnt won a trophy yet that year. it was the last race every week. if you ran buggy ,and hadnt won that year you raced your buggy against a truck or who else hadnt won anyrace in any class that season. if youve won a first place that year you couldnt run. when you won a wild card race you couldnt race it any more. its a way to make sure even some slower guys or some who are fast but not quite fast enough get a chance to get a trophy. B.A. Sanders 11-08-2004, 12:58 AM Hey Tommy, you were right. Them brand new "AA" batteries were bad. I also had a bad connection in the battery holder. The truck run like a champ tonight. brent jones 11-08-2004, 10:07 AM Tommy, Where is your sorry self at? LOL I trusted you! No, I'm joking I should have not used it. I looked at it before I put it on and wondered if it would hold up. My fault! That was funny though! I won every race but the main. Now that's funny! For everyones info. We ran Mod buggy friday night. Tommy and I ran brushed motors. Clint ran brushless Bill ran a brushless truck in with us. We had a ball. Still only turned 39 laps though. I feel like I would have turned 40 in the main. Tommy was right behind me at the start. I was spinning comming out of the corner and half way down the streight. Then the batt wore down some and I started pulling away. Then it was to much for the spur! Tommy won. It was a good night. b4wizard 11-08-2004, 10:39 AM You dummy, I took it off my car and gave it to you. jones 11-08-2004, 11:21 AM No, you dummy! don't you know I must not have had enough gear mesh! That stunk! Don't tell me you took it off your car just for me! If you did you didn't have too! I need to buy new pinions before the next race. It cleaned every single tooth off of the spur! jflack 11-08-2004, 05:34 PM Gobbler Classic at Small Cars Unlimited in Jackson, Ms. on Nov 13 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There will be some racing on all the tracks next Saturday the NOV 13th. Is there going to be any racing tonight? It's been raining up here since Wensday! I kinda need to be working on my stuff for Sat. Patriot Racing 11-12-2004, 10:23 AM It looks like it will be a "HONEY DOO" night. Everybody build up some brownie points for next weedend, maybe we'll go show those BAMA boys how to race on the new offroad track. Pearce Dickson Gotjuice? 11-12-2004, 12:36 PM Kool I'll stay at the house myself. Vail you sound like your on the right track. Tell Ryan to hold on to my toy. I hope to see ya'll next weekend here or there. TheJuice?Man wjvail 11-12-2004, 12:36 PM It looks like it will be a "HONEY DOO" night. Pearce Dickson Does this mean you won't be there or that racing is off? Bill Patriot Racing 11-12-2004, 01:40 PM It is still raining here at work. Pearce Dickson Rufus 11-12-2004, 02:48 PM Im keeping it warm for you juice, just let me know when you come over. See ya Ryan B.A. Sanders 11-12-2004, 04:45 PM maybe we'll go show those BAMA boys how to race on the new offroad track. Pearce Dickson[/QUOTE] You see this Juice? Already talking trash! Although that Ryan fella did come and spank us on 2 out of 4 classes. I guess I'm just going to have to get that etruck tweaked. Ryan, thanks for the phone call. I'll check into a new motor. I kinda got an itch for an 1/8th scale buggy though! Brent jones 11-12-2004, 06:55 PM That's what we need to build in that open area between the road and track. Or else next time we race sell tickets for mud bog'n. Seems like every weekend more folks like to try it out. That's enough room to make a killer Offroad. Only problem is we would need a butt load of dirt. :( Patriot Racing 11-12-2004, 07:55 PM The dirt work would not be that big of an expence. Where the largest cost would be is lighting and running electricity for pit space. Pearce Dickson Rufus 11-12-2004, 09:41 PM All I have to say is he&* YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! left turner 11-12-2004, 10:42 PM what was that movie saying "If you build it, they will come". vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
