I had a great time in Jackson guys, I can't wait to try that again. Will have my LST at full speed soon and on my way to sippi.

No sorry necessary Tony, I think its kinda funny that it took a Kranzel to beat it. I"LL BE BACK!

That was one of the most fun days I've had at a track in a long time. I think it was all the surroundings. Everything was so laid back people talking and everything. Not worring about the track record junk. Just racing as it was meant to be. The monster class was impressive. I know Scott and jjd4 had the two fastest trucks there hands down. Just a little more experience is all they need. After watching the 8th scale buggies, there may be a couple more of them next time. Man, those things will take a beating. Congrats to jjd4 for his second place A-main finish and to Scott and Micheal for a good first time showing on an off-road track. Told you it wasn't that bad. Who knows where they would have been if it wasn't for those dang ball ends and those plastic wheels. Josh was in the hunt to, but I think he lost the rear end cause only the front wheels were pulling. But he did have a good run in stock buggy coming in 4th behind Terry V. There was about 60 or so total entries.

I hope everyone is able to go back for the "Gobbler Classic". Scott hope you find some wheels to stay on the LST. Like I told Josh, may have to look at aluminium, billet. Maybe something like a bead-lock.

Tommy

Scott,

Glad you guys made it home ok....looking forward to running with the LST on the oval. I'll definately have new ball ends soon. Thanks to Tommy for the help on the track...if not for him I wouldn't have finished as I got just tossed off the track and left for broke more than once because the traxxas ball ends kept popping off....he made his way across the track more than once to pop them on and put me back on the track. Also congrats to Tommy for a Great 2nd Place Main finish....Anyway thanks for all the tips and fun guys. I learned alot yesterday.....

I had a great time. Like Tommy said everyone had a ball and was just out their having fun.Ya I hate Rpm wheels! I bought a brand new pair the day before. Bought everything new that might have something to do with the wheels. Then durring the main one of the wheels let go and only had front wheel drive. I managed 4th. yes every thing was tight stinks. But I had alot of fun. I really liked those 15min mains. Those 1/8 scale where off the hook. They also ran 15min mains. those things are impressive! I bielve the reason we didn't run 30 min mains was for time sake.

Buggy I just ran out of talent managed 4th. So I guess I'm a 4th place kinda of guy! LOL

Mr electric, It was good to see ya'll come over. I hope ya'll had as much fun as I did.

Rainey, It was nice to meet you.

Like said eairler It's funny how much fun it was. Everyone laughing and just having a good time. No one takeing anything serious just having fun and trying to stay in the hunt.

JJd4, I know you are going to go to the gobbler. Ain't ya. Maybe by then I'll have my steering fixed and some good rims. Those jumps where hurtfull. They where more painful then jumping off the end of the Oval. Now I have to tear my truck down this evening and see what damage is done. I know mine can hold togather because a Mgt won. Althought I think he had metal rims! LOL

We might just have to run on the oval just for kicks and giggles.

jones
09-27-2004, 12:09 PM
Ok I have called Rpm and complained to them about the problem. They told me to send my rims to them and tell the in writhing what happened. They said they would replace the parts. But man I have to boil my tires and then pay shipping just so I can get some rims that would probably do the same thing again. They were trying to say that I need to use a set of dial calipers and messure my hex and make sure they are the largest. He made it sound like I should have been using a micrometer to messure all of my hexs. This stinks! I can't race because i didn't mic my hex before I bought rims! All thought they say on the pack that the rims work with maxx, losi, savage and mgt? Funny huh.

Ralph Walters
09-27-2004, 12:48 PM
Soak them in acetone over night and they will fall off. It will not hurt the tires or the rims. I would run the Losi or Asc rims, they are of much better quality.

jones
09-27-2004, 01:37 PM
A couple of folks at the event said that the Proline are pretty good. Asc doesn't offer a wide offset. I will have to look at the Losi. I have thought about the beadlock rims but I haven't really heard anything about them. I wasn't the only person to have those problems. Oh well it was still alot of fun! Can't wait to do it again!

Mclake is right... it helps to bring someone you know but there are alot of people willing to help. Most of the racers come over to watch/marshall the races so all you have to do is ask someone... i know they will help.

I wanted to say thanks to everyone that came over to Jackson this past weekend. Like Tommy and Jones said, it was a fun, laid-back time that everyone seem to enjoy. Had some great racing and i know there were a few good jokes told also! And when ever any of you want to come back over... feel free to do so. We enjoy having "company"!

Nice to see/meet everyone that i got a chance to..... Let's all do it again at the "Classic".

Hey Jones I don't think that it was but we are going to try some new rims not sure which ones yet. You have to be carefull on the bead lock kits also and make sure that you are getting all the information, and that the tire that you pick will fit.

I had a blash and hope to do it again in Jackson.

Yeah that was my LST smoking the hub in the wheel again. When it let go (for the third time) I held the throttle while I was going down the stand. Just letting out a little steam of my own, til I could reach the cooler! :D I am looking at maybe IMEX rims or TRC, I have lost to many Proline rims to use them again. They can't take the power. Looking at Stormer the Maximizer rims also need another coller to use proline tires and some Imex. Better look closer at them, price goes up every time I do.

Not sure that other MGT had metal rims, but I believe he did have a supercharger!

I can't wait. Hopefully it will be a little cooler. And I feel like I let one get away. But I'll be there for sure.

Something else you monster guys should consider, he's(D.C.) been racing there and found all his week links already, and his experience didn't hurt either. I'm telling ya'll, a little experience and some parts and ya'll are there. You may not have won, but you served notice.

AMEN of the cooler temps!! Yeah, Bates was "grinning like a posseum" after that main. Was cool seeing that racing between the top 3. one slip and the other 2 pounced. I know it will be interesting at the Classic! Terry prob feels like he let that one get away too!

Well on the Cooler temps it was a cool 66 in the trailer if it gets and cooler we might have to turn on the heat. We are throwing the race around in Nov. got to see whats going to happen and we might make the trip.

Well, I took the truck apart last night. The only damage was that wheel and a glow plug that fouled. I've got to go today and get an cheap pot so I can boil the tire. Rpm is only open mon-thur. Looks like I'll just send it back to have it replaced and just use those for around the house.

Tommy, Thank's for letting me use your extra charger. Maybe by the time the classic rolls around I will have another charger.

Bill, I tried your fuel this weekend. I liked it truck seemed like it ran alittle better. Althought I was bad rich after I changed to your fuel for some reason. On blue thunder it was around 245 with yours it was around 170-180. I never had enough time to tune it. I think I might just buy some next time. Oh what would it take for you to maybe mix-up some 30 or 35 % for the monster trucks?

b4wizard
09-28-2004, 09:46 AM
jones,
Thats the same thing that happened to me when I used Bill's fuel, just lean it out a little and it will haul.
No problem on the charger, thats kinda why I tote it with me.

You don't want to go no higher than 30%. If you want more power put a Briggs on it.lol

How many folks plan on racing next weekend? I know it is nascar weekend so whom is racing?

I wanted to try some O'donald racing fuel but that's just big dreaming. If Bill could mix up some 30% for the monsters I WILL BUY IT. It's just some good stuff!

jjd4, I'm going for it at the classic I just have to bullet proof the truck!

I had planned on going to Columbus for the big dirt car race, but I don't know about that know. They say there's another big race somewhere else that the big boys are going to up north. And something is going on at the Talladega short track, so who knows.

Howdy Folks,

Sorry if I've been away for a week or two. A combination of work, the weather and my compter crashing has put me behind in my reading and racing. I hear I missed some good racing last Friday. I'll be in town this weekend and ready to rock!

Brent... I'm really sorry I didn't get back to your question about getting some fuel some time ago. Hopefully Ryan was able to help. I try and keep some in the hobby shop and in the past Pearce has had some in the trailer. I don't know if that is still the case.

Oh what would it take for you to maybe mix-up some 30 or 35 % for the monster trucks?Josh and other folks... Your experience is common. Depending on the fuel you were using you will probably have to lean the motor some. Be careful though. I always worry that folks will take this too far. With my fuel you may find you can make very good power and still be on the (very) rich side. I think my fuel runs better, rich than any other. Other fuels I've mixed and tried need the needles to be very near perfect for good, reliable power. Hopefully you can get the power, idle and throttle responce you need without having to lean the motor completely.

As for mixing higher nitro fuel I've always said I'll mix what ever folks want; however, noone has ever asked. With that said I'm going to try very hard to talk you out running more nitro. Using more nitro to make power is common but you really have to know what you are doing. The mainstream car engines are designed for 15-25% nitro (my car fuel is 25%). Going to higher nitro can lead to a lot of broken parts and burnt plugs. Lastly if I mix 35% for you what should I do if your racing buddies ask for 45% then 65% (the boat guys run 65%!). As it is, it's one of the few constants in gas racing. Most folks are running the same fuel. Wouldn't you rather leave it that way? I run the same fuel that I mix for others. It's the same fuel Clint, Ryan, Pearce, Donald and anyone else can buy at the hobby shop. It seems to run well in both the Maxx class and the G-Trucks.

09-30-2004, 12:52 PM
Ya I noticed even that my engine was real rich it ran good. On the higher nitro deal. I was just wanting to try some. All I have read about was the bigger 21 and up engines like 30 and 35%. I'm not trying to run faster than anyone I'd just like to try it. I understad if you don't want to mix it. I can buy some if I myself just wants to try it. I just thought I would ask before I ordered some.

Offroad racing is more about driver than power so I am not really trying to out power anyone. I'm trying to get my truck where it flys thru the air right. It wants to nose dive no matter how I hit a jump. I have gold springs all the way around with 70 weight oil. It act's like it needs thicker oil in the front. I can triple everything it just doesn't fly right!

thank you for your input and have a nice day. :)

B4; Well crud, maybe my charger will work for me. Hope you get to feeling better. I seen that this a.m. on my cell phone. The wife was on the internet looking at house plans.

Tony; I hope you are planning on coming over still.

Although I might not ought to come I might not have a chance of winning. I heard you were putting down some killer lap times (5.9). I was told you almost got 40 laps that's pretty cool! Can you imagine that. A stock buggy running that fast. Isn't that faster than some of the other classes. :)

(To those who have wondered about what I said earlier about getting rid of my electric Rc stuff).
I still have to much money in this stuff for me to sell it or quit racing. If those select people out there don't like me that's fine. I still like you though. Just don't care to hear some of the things you do or say. That's ok I can walk away. I want everyone to get along this is a fun sport. After this great weekend in Jackson it gave me that feeling again of why I started. So, for those of you who don't like me and can't stand it for me to win or even come close to winning. GET OVER IT. Like a new friend of mine so kindly said to me. LOL :) Yes Mrelectric I knew who you where. I just didn't feel like what was said on here or that weekend at the track was worth talking about. No since in it. Ya'll seem like nice folks. My wife would still be coming to the races but she doesn't enjoy the atmosphere anymore. She would have like the Jackson race.

Well I hope to see everyone tonight and have some good racing.

I'm starting to wonder if it wouldn't just be worth buying some metal rims. Only problem is that they weigh more. I have heard alot about those rims I posted about.

Rpm said I might want to try the plastic hexes that are for the tmaxx. They say that all of the rims are based off of those hexes. I sent my rims back to Rpm and a little letter explaining my disappointment. I should get something back in a week or two.

I'm still stock!

Mr Electric
10-01-2004, 11:36 AM
The LST has a flange built in to the hex, not sure a t-maxx hex would work on that. I like the idea of an aluminum rim, but it would be much easier to reuse a beadlock.

jones
10-01-2004, 11:38 AM
The rims where my first real aftermarket add-on. Still same stock tires. This is a list of thing's I have done to the truck.
Replaced plastic shock bodies with the alum.
Changed springs
But a titanium rear bumper
Changed over to fm
put a 200oz steering servo in
I changed gearing but went back to stock!
That is all I have done.

Mr Electric, true I would really like to try the beadlocks too. I have also heard the the TRC rims work pretty good.

I saw an ad in the new RC Car Action mag about some metal wheels that the outer unbolted from the center. They did this because you can get diff. centers (styles) and outer (colors) but i got to thinking that it would be good so if you bent/broke a part of the wheel, you could change out without buying a whole new wheel. Now... they were "pricey" but i don't remember who much. But then again, metal wheels would cost more than plastic.

Also found this... Jones might want to add this to his list of mods....... :D
