You would only need an average lap time of 6.315 to turn 38 laps and 6.153 for 39 laps. The 38 lap record WILL be set and I believe that the 39 is very possible. When I turned 37 in a 4.00 I was running the stock setup from the instructions and it was the first time I had ever run buggy on that track, I was able to turn 37 in the 3rd heat even after a wreck.. With a little fine tuning and a better motor I will turn 38 and God only knows what Tony will do when he gets a good run with that Kranzel.

I do agree that its fun chasing a record, like Tony said we use a record a gauge for knowing what is possible and where we need to try to be. I like it even better that a stock buggy is turning as many laps a brushless truck!

lets see, my calculator says 240 sec - 7.3sec first lap leaves 232.7 secs.

232.7 / 36 laps = 6.463 average lap + 7.3 sec first lap = 37 laps in 240 secs
232.7 / 37 laps = 6.289 average lap + 7.3 sec first lap = 38 laps in 240 secs
232.7 / 38 laps = 6.123 average lap + 7.3 sec first lap = 39 laps in 240 secs

you guys need to come to T-town for some dirt slinging!

I had 37 in 4.00.9, thats less than sec to beat the buzzer for 38! I still don't think it will be that hard.

No, I was .9 sec out before the buzzer sounded (on my 37th lap), If I had been .9 sec faster I would have had 38 laps in like 4.06.3, just like your record was 4.04 for 37 laps. Your confusing seconds and the over all time as listed on the sheets.

You get to finish your lap when the buzzer sounds, whether your 2 feet before the line or 2 feet past it, You will have 4 min and some secs as your race time. You can't finish exactly on 4 min. Your record went down and mine will also, GET OVER IT!

I think to much is being put on this track record thing. Remember that the whole idea is to have fun and run against some good comp. I know first hand what can happen when one guy[or two] can smoke the feild, racers stop coming because they feel they can't win. I need I remind eveyone that records are set in the main only, not quals. Too many factors are envolved for a track record. Level the playing feild by having a controlled class. Same tires, motors and batteries, that way driving skills come into play, close racing is much more fun then suckin wind. You also offer a unlimited class for those who want it.
When I used to run in Meridian the track was flat with very little banking, the center line was 240 ft.
My records are as follows:
6 cell [1700s]
stock motor 24 deg ROAR
Direct drive.
52 laps in 4 minutes
average lap time was 4.7

6 cell gear box, losi pro se
1700s
24 deg ROAR stock motor
41 laps 4 minutes
average lap time was 5.8
both classes were run on pro line mini pin tires
the only person that could run with me was Tommy Banes.

All I did was piss everyone off buy running so fast. The lesson I learned was to slow down to make it more fun for everyone. Oval is not a forgiving type of racing, everything must be just right to be competitive, if you are off alittle bit then you will not win.
I only race offroad now and find it much more fun, you can make a mistake and still make it up.
My best to all of you, stick together and make it fun for everyone or you will not have anyone to race with, and that is no fun.
Ralph :)

I didn't see how I myself could or anyone locale could do any better.

I'm not sure I know what you mean. You don't think local folks can beat you or what. It seems to me that whom ever beat your record you think they are illegal. I've thought that at times to. Some people can just hit set-up, gearing, shocks, springs and the right tires on the head. When it's your night, it's your night.
There's one thing that I have learned in my many years of this crap, is that there is always gonna be someone faster or that knows a little more than the next person.
After watching Scott run the other night, I know I have to go back to work again, because that what racers do. They are ALWAYS looking for an edge. I'm not exactly content with second or third. But who is.
And I personally don't know of any way to make everyone run exactly the same speed in any class. Yes people said thats what brushless was for, but why was there so much passing the other night, if there the same. O yea, set-up.
If you put everyone set-up on paper that was there Friday night, I would bet there wasn't two of the same there.
One other thing, I usually don't keep up with track records, (until someone started this junk) I look at lap times.
I hope not to many people is offended by this.....

Is Clint going to still be able to work the track.
If not, I guess a full-body is useless.

Guys yall want to do something that is alot of fun? Show up at the track with intenchions of having a good time while enjoying the comrotery of all the other racers. If everyone would show up with a good mind set and quit belly aching about the little stuff, everything would be alot more fun. Why do people just complain about stuff that doesnt even matter? If you run 5th, had a good time, and got to enjoy hanging out with friends, nothing else matters. There are many things in this world that could be worse. And by the way if the track does fall on its face, I will be there when it does. I want to race, period. I will get two turtles out of my pond and we can go drink beer and drag race turtles, it is all about having fun.

09-14-2004, 09:39 AM
Thats all well and good Rufus, but how many times have we seen you knock the back out of your truck with the drake. So it is more about being highly competitive, than watching your stuff go around the track. Nobody wants to just make laps without the taste of victory. No matter how much fun they have on the sidelines.

Rufus
09-14-2004, 10:32 AM
one time and dont look for it again, somebody told me dont take the loses to hard and dont make to much out of the victories, guys were not even racing for anything other than bragging rights, as far as I know i dont think any of us are making a living out of this. Tommy I have never got mad about getting out run. I have got extremely mad when my stuff wont run. and yes I want to win I try as hard as I can every week. I also hold two track records woopty doo. That is one thing that is blown out of proportion. If you get out run try harder. Some people cant live with the fact talent is there, some people have more than others, if that were not true we would all be pro.

Oh man I guess Mr. Electric and I should have just stayed at the house Friday night. I never knew that we would have got soooooo much started over there and I belive that I read that some might have implyed or just the thought that Mr. Electric might have been cheating. Well there is nutton to hid in that trailer, ask Ryan he came over and was talking to us in there. If you want to take the motor and unwind it then do so, there is no fun to have to worry about getting caught cheating so why do it. Maybe next time I will be a little more prepaired for the E-Truck and Monstor Truck and set some new records there also, but it want me with a brushless. Well I can't wait until next time this is getting interesting. Well if yall want to run some oval in T-town we might be Sunday racing soon so just keep an EYE out on there.

P.S. CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONE!!

Rarer9, its all fun when your winning, right? But just let the "BIG DOGS" run and you can't take the heat. If I left just because I was losing ( or what someone said about me) I would never have made it past the first night. It was almost a year before I won my first race. I stuck in there, learned a few things, took some advise, and can usually run pretty good.
The part I hate the most about this sport is that some experienced racers have little or no tolerience for newbies. We don't have the luxury of having enough racers for a beginner class. Many times I wanted to leave but stuck in there because people like Tony would lend a helping hand, I can't say that about alot of folks.
Jones nobody that cares about this sport wants to see you quit, at least I don't. Thing get taking to seriously sometimes... CHILL OUT GUYS! Cause you can call it what you want, but, this ain't Talladega, and we're playing with toy cars! Expensive, but still toys!

mr electric, I did not leave because i lost, as matter a fact i didnt lose to often. The reason I left is because people started taking it to seriously like we were racing for thousands of dollars. Also, if your going to have rules use ALL of them! It became a certain fews playground and a lot of peoples attitudes were coming out there to just win, not have FUN. And no I will not come back to hobby raceway, maybe me, jones, and slider can race together, since we just want to have fun with our "TOYS".

Mr Electric
09-14-2004, 03:28 PM
Cruiser, guys like you, Tommy and Ryan are why I will be coming back to Meridan. Thanks for the hospitaity. Hope you guys do regroup, thats what makes it fun!

Racer9, The fact is you didn't lose much when you didn't have anybody to race with. When I came back and Tony started running buggy again, things went downhill for you, and really, I hate that. I enjoyed racing with you, and I tried to lend a hand. Everyone should try to have fun, but you shouldn't have to try NOT to win! There is a learning curve you know!
You will always have the "serious" guys that think their freakin Dale Jr., you can't let those guys get to you.

But, WHATEVER!

Racer9

I never ran buggy with you and I DID when against tony, I raced with a bunch of great drivers and won, and lost but when i lost i didnt pack up my stuff and go back HOME. No i never raced against the kranzel but he didnt have it ready before i left. I always thought you were one of the "serious" guys. Oh well I can have more FUN at the house with my TOYS and not have to pay 10$

Mr Electric

Is this what highly competitive people do. Skold the others that are enjoying this hobby. Just from what I read.
From what I've seen every since Tony told me about this site, I'm beginning to wonder if it was a mistake to ever start this thread. Anyone can set behind a computer and type words, but apparently people on the other end take things the wrong. I've been at fault as much as anyone. Racing was so much better in Meridian when this thread didn't exist. It was a lot simplier to call and get it straight from the horse so to say. I made more friends just by going to the track and other tracks, but this thread may have hurt more than it has helped anything.

Jonathan you know I never did more than a little raggin on ya. I hate your gone. Jones I do wish you would keep your RC stuff and race me or anybody, just RACE! I was told this would get you fired up, didn't know they had been messing with ya that hard. It must have been what you said, not that you were happy. I took it that you liked boasting, I was asked to "mess" with ya a little, sorry dude, nothing personal. What was supposed to be a little innocent raggin can't find a ending point.

B4....looks like you made it home OK. Was traffic bad? Can't we ALL GET ALONG. I like racing and I like winning but just like on Monday me and Tommy both looked at each other and instead of saying we're quiting we were trying to figure out what went wrong and how we could better ourselves next time out. We both had a good time and like Rufus said earlier it should be a time that we all have fun with a hobby that obviously we all have SOME interest in. I look forward to losing many more races (if I get permission....crusier..hehe) and having a blast with the hobby. T-town...we will have to come your way once in the future. I would love to come over there or even goto Jackson.....Jones, I hope you don't sell your equipment and look forward to racing with you soon.....My TNX likes MGT's....there high in protein....
