yep it was fun, the lap times were not as good as last week. next week i'll make sure the track isn't packed quite as hard, that may be why we were slower.

we had 9 monster trucks, two heats, which would had've been rough to try to run them in one. even had one of those Revo's. jj not sure if you seen it run. later in the night they realized it was in 2nd gear the whole time. they got it shifting, and it ran a lot better. it was hard to tell what it could do because the driver was kinda new.

one other thing, ryan let me drive his LST around the track. it drove great. it's like driving an electric truck. it goes where you point it, right then. i could blip the throttle going into the turns, and floor it and right in the center and drive it out. REALLY easy to drive.

Hello Ryan....

Racing for me this week end may be a little dodgy. I have to work Friday and am going to try and take the 5:20pm out of Atlanta back into Meridian. IF everything goes well I should be in the driveway by 6:30 and IF the days works goes OK I MAY bring the Brushless truck down for the last few heats. This is IF the wife will cut me loose (I haven't seen her in almost 2 weeks). As you know VERY little work is required in this class to run and run competitively.

I don't see how I'll be ready to run gas. The rear hub carrier bearings still need to be repaired and Boca sent the wrong replacement kit:-(( . I will have a new wing to try when I find the time. It looks GOOD if I do say so myself!

Josh are you gonna race your MGT this weekend or are you still mad. Personally I think it is pretty dang fast. You should come race. But do what ever you want we had a ball last weekend. We nearly had enogh for a A and B main.

Rufus,

Didn't race this weekend, it was concrete week. My truck is in a 100 pieces
and motor is tore down. I had two work 7 days this past week too. Had to
cancel vacation. Maybe I'll get back in the saddle soon when work slacks.

This is a Tommy body with a new wing. I haven't run it yet. It's only a prototype. It very similar to the wings I've made in the past with an extention out the front and the side dams entend past the top/bottom of the wing. Lets see if this works...

i noticed when i tried to put some pics up here that hobbytalk didn't allow for a very large pic, which in a way is understandable.
i found this on another site i use, they are offering FREE webhosting. they are offering pretty much unlimited bandwidth, and space. it must be r/c related is the only catch.
it takes a few days before they set it up for you. here it is.

Thanks Clint,

I had considered using RunRyder but thought I'd try and get this to work. I didn't want to post car pics to a heli group and didn't remember the rc groups/ rc universe/ezonemag sight. This hobby talk isn't too bad. Just one extra step to reduce the size of the pic.

Question, on the E-trucks are mods going to be able to run or is it just brushless.

Michael

wjvail
08-03-2004, 04:49 PM
mclake...

The motor rules have not changed in the E-Truck class... yet. That is, you can run the Novak Brushless SS5800 or ANY ROAR legal brushed motor. The reason I add the "yet" to the above statement, and I know everyone is tired of hearing this, but we will make rules in the future if it becomes apparent that that something needs to be done to keep it fair.

I really think there will be a time in the futrue when we limit motors to ROAR 19 turn motors but this week end, bring it on!

I think a strong 19 turn is plenty. I pains me to say this but I don't think Clint was ever beaten with his 19T.

Clint I thought working on gas truck was alot of work, I had no idea what the up keep and time was like when you race three classes. Atleast the e truck is nothing more than cleaning!

08-04-2004, 02:21 PM
mclake, donald ran a 19T this past weekend and it ran just like it was another brushless truck on the track. not sure what it was, it wasn't a cameleon, anyone can call the hobby shop and ask what it was. North Hills Hobbies (601)696-9767.
rufus, isn't it great, don't have to do anything but clean it up and it's ready for the next weekend. it let's me focus on other stuff, instead of worrying about another car/truck to have ready for the races.

If anyone knows of anyone wanting some electric stuff, I got some to sell.
Thinking about a new GT, really don't want to go the RTR route, but with some tinkering, it's a good truck for the oval. Figured if thats whats we gonna do, I want some gas.

I see there's one at the LHS that's been around for about 2 years
Everyone seems to like the LOSI's, I just like the AE truck......hmmmm.

mclake,
I heard they had a good showing of gas truck and gas monster trucks.
There was some 19turn sprint cars and one full-body.
Not sure how many e-truck and I think about three buggies.
They had a good turnout and some good racing from what I hear.
I was told that they thought about just running two qualifiers so they wouldn't be there all night with that many people.

mclake and all other racing Friends,

Sorry it took me a week to answer your question, although I think Tommy already did...

Recount of Aug 6, 2004 racing....

We had 9 entered in the Max class. We split the class into an A & B. Ryan was very fast in the A and spent most of the time tuning for the main. Pearce running a HPI/Mach .26 was fast and running very consistent in the B Qualf. In the end Pearce TQed and Ryan was second. The new Revos were fast but still working on setup. Unfortunatly Ryan broke early in the main and Pearce went on to win. It's too bad... I think it would have been a dog fight.

We also had 9 in gas truck and ran them all together. That was a little messy. Ryan endured for a win and Buddy Googe was a very consistent second. It's worth noting Buddy was running a stock Losi RTR .15P/S. Ryan was blazing fast but it only took 48 laps to TQ and 36 to win (The track record is 54 laps). I'm told Buddy will be back this week with a new OS motor. If he can remain as consistent and stay as clean he will be a solid contender.

We had 7 entered in brushless truck (e-truck). Myself, Ryan, Clint and Pearce were brushless and Cruzer, Donald and Casy were running brushed motors. Ryan and Pearse qualified with 38 laps and Ryan, Clint, Casy and myself qualifed with 37 laps. Donald and Cruzer were very close behind with 35 or 36. In the main, Pearce was running the best lap times and could put together 10 laps that noone could touch. Unfortunatly his car seemed a little edgy and he nicked the pipe and went a lap down early. Ryan was leading and I was 1/4 lap behind pedaling for all I was worth to catch him. Pearce caught me and I let him by... after all he was a lap down. He quickly caught Ryan and raced with-in a foot of him for 2 min. I was standing next to Pearce on the drivers stand and he said "I'm trying to worry Ryan into a mistake". That was fine with me, I was 1/4 lap back and unable to do anything to catch him. Casy was 10ft behind me in 3rd running a 14 turn and early in the race he was faster than me. I considered letting him by but thought, if I could hold him off for a min or 2 his motor may sag just enough. In the end Ryan never faultered, Pearce nicked a pipe again, I passed him back and Ryan and I finished 1-2 and I think Casy was 3rd and on the same lap. I talked to Donald and he said he will be brushless this week and I know he and Ryan went to the track and worked on setup.

There were 3 entered in buggy... Casy, Josh and Alex. You could throw a blanket over Casy and Josh all night. I think Josh won all 3 qualifiers but Casy brought out the good stuff for the main. Alex added excitment to the racing but was not running well enough to contend for the lead.

I'm going to the garage to shine my stuff up. See yall tonight.

Race round up from Friday the 13th (Aug 13, 2004)

A small but determined turn out. It was a little hard to understand because conditions were perfect if not a little on the cool side. The track was a very smooth but a little slick the whole night. It seemed like the cool dry weather kept the water from coming to the surface. Still, really a fast track but you had to drive more.

Stock buggy did not run. The only ones considering entering were myself, Casy and Alex. Alex was talking trash about a new killer motor and it scared Casy and I off:-) Josh was a no show. I think I heard someone say he had other commitments. Lamar stopped by to say hello but didn't bring anything to run. As a side note, I talked to Casy and he said I got it backwords about last weeks buggy racing. Casy won all three qualifiers but Josh pulled off the win in the final not the other way around. Sorry for the mixup!

Max class had 3 entered. It was Ryan, Lance, and another fella and I don't recall his name... And that's unfortunate because he won the class! He was running a Losi LST. Ryan was very fast as usual but unfortunatly broke hard in the first heat and withdrew. Something in the transmission/transfer case. Lance was also very fast but just a little inconsistent and that cost him a little each lap.

Gas truck had 7 entered. Ryan, Donald, Clint, Buddy, John Corkin (sp?), another fella (sorry I don't recal the name) and myself. We ran 'em all together and that was tough. Buddy (transmission) and Ryan (I don't recall... transmission?) broke early in the night and dropped out. Clint was having engine trouble and struggled for most of the night to keep it running. Donald was fast but inconsistent. John hasn't been over in a year (from Jackson) (give-or-take) and picked up right where he left off last time he raced; that is, dam fast. He was driving a perfect line lap after lap. He was just a 1/4 sec. off the pace with an older motor. He was also running a sprint car body and wing with a Losi truck under it. Really a good looking ride. I was able to eke out a win with John in second. John and his son are really great racers and good people.

E-Truck had myself, Donald, Ryan, Clint, and Casy entered. It was really a fun bunch entered and some VERY close racing. Casy had commitments early in the morning and left after two quailifiers. That left Donald, Clint, Ryan and myself all running the brushless. In a last min. decision we decided to run a 6(!) min main and had a blast. We had been running 4 min qualifiers. Ryan won with 55(!) laps and I and Clint finished with 53 but really only about a lap and a 1/8 down to Ryan. I have to admit Ryan was donminate. A 1 lap margin of victory doesn't sound like much but in this class it's a good bit. He just ran me down and lapped me. :drunk: Clint passed me on the last lap (DAM) for second myself in 3rd. I think Donald enjoyed himself and is getting faster my by the minute!. With 6 min and 55 laps of driving per heat this class has a lot of driving in it. It's a great way to learn car control.

We were done by 11:30. It was really a great night of racing and I had a blast. Hope to see you all next week. I'm going to the garage to shine up my stuff. I'll be faster next week!

As always, please correct me if I got something wrong. Also, if you can help with names please do.

John Corkel's son's name is Daniel.
But I believe he has two. Was he the one your thinking of.
From what I heard today in Jackson, the 19turn sprint cars will be
back next week. They really like the track.

he said putting a new motor on is high on his list also.
