When I was a kid, say about 1963, I had an orange plastic Supercar. It was motorized, and you inserted variously-shaped cams into it to make it drive around in different patterns.

Anybody else?

I had that Supercar when I was a kid. I begged and begged my folks for it for Christmas and being a kid I found it stashed away in the closet waiting for December 25th. Great toy! I think, if I remember right it was produced by Remco. I remember the box it came in. Supercar setting on the cardboard base with a large clear dome housing it. Wish I still had it along with my Fireball XL5.

Yeah, I'm almost sure it was produced by Remco. One of my sisters got that for me for Christmas. Ranks up there with the Space city playset as one of my favorite toys. Looking forward to Product Enterprise's diecast versions of Supercar and Fireball XL5.

Yep, it was by Remco. About 7 years later it was re-issued as a "Space Sled" from Land of the Giants. Of course, there was nothing at all even remotely similar to Supercar on Land of the Giants, but Remco had the license for the show and needed to get product out to market quickly.

I had one of those two and was very sad the day it broke apart after one too many crash landings. Saw it again maybe about 10 years ago at a toy show. If I had had the $500 they wanted, I would have bought it on the spot.

Memories.....memories...

The new diecast is very accurate to the show, but nothing beats the nostalgia of a toy you had as a kid, even if it was pretty crappy looking in reality.

After a successful site visit last week I should be starting a new job early next month. Soon as the money starts flowing definitely gotta get an Interceptor, Skydiver, and Fireball. :)

Cool, guys.
John, it was definitely orange and all one color of orange at that.
As crappy as it was, I'd still love to have one!

Ah! Don't forget about the lovely gold on the front section where the White panels should be and I believe on the rear deck.
One has to wonder why Remco chose those colors.

Not really any stranger than why Dinky did the Eagle and Interceptor in metallic green.

In case I didn't say it before, these are now shipping. As a bonus, Fireball XL5 is 10 inches long (thought it'd be 7.5") and both models include a display stand!

Oh man, I had that Remco Supercar too! I went ahead and painted it as best I could except around the 'Supercar' decals on the side. Man, that ship flew and crashed and sunk and took all sorts of abuse.

Had my 8 yo godson Dylan watch some of the DVD's with me and his dad, who also was a big fan of the show. Now Dylan loves the show too. He wants to grow up to be a Dr. Beeker now and build his own Supercar!

Doh! Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see this until MJB posted.
I don't have any up on the site yet, but there should be soon - we're carrying some new display cases and these diecasts will be in the photos.
Btw, they just kick butt. Very nice looking, and the Fireball Jr. attaches to XL5 with a really strong magnet, so you won't have much wear and tear in removing and replacing it. Supercar is awesome too, fully detailed interior with Mike Mercury at the wheel.
We've sold an enormous amount of both of these and our supply is dwindling, so if you want them for the holidays, order quick!

Just received my Fireball and Skydiver yesterday. Not much time to really play with them, er I mean check them out, as I was getting ready for work. On once over they are both amazing, Marg thought the same. The gripes I've read about excessive weathering are crap, they look awesome. Fireball's a lot bigger than I'd envisioned, both are model quality pieces. And of course these are subjects that are out of this world. I got mine from Fabgear, will definitely shop there again, fast receipt of the models (I can't really think of them as toys), great packing, both arrived in absolutely perfect condition, great shipping and handling rates. Of course now I've seen the Product Enterprises diecasts.

Just ordered the 1999 Eagle, and the Charawheels SPV. Most of my diecasts are hotwheels sized, and the Ban Dai Charawheels are frickin awesome!

If you like the SPV, you should order the FAB 1 and Stingray; all of these are out of production now and we only have a few left.

Hey Anthony,

Just sent a PayPal payment for the color Supercar! Can't wait to get it. I have a diorama in mind for it.

Will you have the Stingray for a bit yet, or should I order that sooner than later?

Hi Fred,
We'll have the PE Stingray for a while, the Bandai Chara Wheels ones are getting scarce, though.
Thanks!

Just ordered the Stingray late last week, the PE one not the Charawheels. Stingray was always my fave, so I figured, what the heck, get the best. Now I just have to figure out a place that's cat-proof to display them. 2 adults and 3 kittens can wreak havoc. Now I'll have Fireball, Stingray, UFO, and Space:1999 represented.

Hey Anthony,

Received the Supercar today. Very nice! I'm going to be using it in a diorama that I'll be creating for "From Graves to Caves!"

Thanks again. May be back soon for the Stingray.

I will Anthony. I'll be starting on it as soon as I finished the two kits I'm working on now. Nice to have the time to build without the impending quarterly deadline approaching. :)

Got my Stingray, all I can say is: if you're a fan you have got to get this model. Before we met Marg had never heard of Gerry Anderson, she now knows the pink Roller is Lady Penelope's, she likes that character. She also had about 200 sci-fi DVD's when we met. Marg thinks Stingray is the best of all the PE Anderson Diecasts. I think they're all great. I really wanted these as a kid, now I have them, Fireball, Stingray, Skydiver, Eagle. Not one is a let down. If you love these subjects buy them now. You will not regret it.

I've got Stingray on a shelf over my desk in my office - on the stand it looks like it's leaping out of the water as in the credit sequence for the show. Very cool, one of my favorites of the PE series.

Hey Anthony (and anyone else who is interested):

Here is a photo of my Supercar diorama in progress. This will be going into the upcoming model-related book:
Supercar in progress (http://www.modelersresource.com/images/supercar_paint.jpg)

It's taken quite a bit of time to get to this point, but I'm loving it. The dark blue piece is simply laying up against the back wall. It's not glued in yet. The roof is done, but of course, that'll be the last thing that goes on.

It's going to be hopefully as detailed as the images I found here:
Supercar Images (http://www.aiai.ed.ac.uk/%7Ebat/GA/SC-MODEL/IMRIE/MODEL/IMG/laboratory.jpg)

This has been a total blast! I'm also working on MiM's Dracula kit and since I can't leave well enough alone :p I've added onto the top of the model and the back of it and will be adding a lighting system because the backdrop will include a moon and stars. The area behind Drac's gate/fence will be enclosed like a box diorama.

Hey Fred,
That's looking very cool so far! The renders of Black Rock Labs on Austin Tate's site are great reference for a project like this. You should join the Black Rock 1 egroup on Yahoo, they'll flip for updates, and might be able to help with more reference and ideas.
Here's the URL:

Keep updating here as well, it's really looking great!

I've got the Product Enterprises Supercar (color version), and it's fabulous. But I have no idea how to get it to sit properly on its stand. I understand that the little hatch comes off the bottom of the hull to accomodate the stand, but the stand itself doesn't seem to lock into or catch on anything inside the hull to hold it steady. (I have the Product Enterprises Stingray and Fireball XL5, and they clamp onto their stands just fine.) Any ideas? Many thanks!

Hey Robert,
The die casts sit on the stand by inserting the "cube" end into the recess on the bottom. It just slides up inside - make sure the delta points on the bottom are facing the rear of the die cast. It should be steady that way.

Thanks, A Taylor. There must be something wrong with mine. The interior of Supercar is hollow, and there's just nothing for the cube to catch on or plug into. It doesn't sit properly at all on the stand, sad to say (as I say, XL5 and Stingray sit on their stands, precisely as you described, just fine, but my Supercar doesn't).

Ah, well. Sometimes things aren't F-A-B; every once in a while Spectrum is Red ... ;)
