Classes are being discussed and lined up for time and day of the racing schedual.. check it out at www.rcspeedway.net and see what we have to offer... but at least try a practice day.. after all its FREE!
Nitro Outlaw Truck has been the biggest class since 2001 and has had mainly a diferent winner each night.

Hmmm, I just tryed the link and it came right up for me... if you cant get on it E-Mail me at dwbryan@locl.net and I'll try to send the pic to ya.
On my web site there is pics of the track as well as drivers and other info.

DWBryan
03-18-2004, 01:52 PM
The track in the pic looks narrow but its a 10ft wide lane that is 240ft around the center.
The banking is a bit diferent in each turn but is from 8 degree to 12 degree.
About any rubber tire works.. the most common is probably the proline street hawgs, road hawgs, & speed hawgs m2 or m3 compound. (trucks)
Same with 4wd touring.. rubber works great... foam hasnt done well in the past but this year a driver was here a week ago with a nitro sprint car and had pink on the F and purple on the R and was hooked up.. a big suprize to me.. but after it get warmer they may not work??? just have to try.
Pancars have had to run caps... BSR Red, Green, and blue was the best.

The past couple of days since the weather is getting better we have been experimenting with foam tires, in the past they havent worked well but the track is getting more weatherered and they are now working decent.
Tryed a 1/18 BRP and turned some good hot laps with foams.. got em in the sevens and a good 15 min of runtime with 1100 ma AA nicd batteries.

This is one great track! Mini Darlington describes it best. I was running a Nitro Custom Works Enforcer and a Custom Works Intimidator Electric gearbox last week on pinks and purples foamies. Both cars were "hooked up" as they say. I tried foamies several times early summer last year and had absolutely no luck. I don't know if it is the weathering of the track over the winter or what it is but FOAMIES ARE WORKING VERY WELL right now at the Schoolyard.

Some might argue the weight of the sprinter is why I had such good luck. But, my electric mod gearbox car was just as fast and handling very well? Don't know what it is but I like it!!!

DWBryan
03-22-2004, 09:48 PM
Yea I hope it keeps on keepin on... then we can have the choice of rubber or foamies.
This weekend may tell a bit more... I guess the waether is suppose to be 60 degrees and more want to try it out this saturday.
We can see if they keep working with it at that temp... I think it may be the weathering... this was the 3rd winter for it and the surfae gets weathered... with more merratic acid applyed it may get good and tight.

Hey Guys....

The KGF MOTORSPORTS gang will be out there to test on Thursday......we will be testing 4 cell mods.......4 cell 19t.......4 cell stock.....and we will be also testing 6 cell mod.....6 cel 19t.....will keep you osted on damage reports.......

Anyone got enough guts to race the KGF guy??????

DWBryan
03-30-2004, 10:34 PM
Could get interesting, untill we get a little testing it will be hard to determin what will work the best.
With the nitro trucks that hasnt changed from what I can tell... abut ANY std rubber tire is working best... I tryed Jayco 4in foams on the R of my GT and I felt the proline, Panther, & Losi rubber tires where a bit better in grip. But the foams where managable.
My BRP felt a bit looser with the foams this time out... Guess I'll be makin a new set of Schoolyard BRP caps up for the ones intersted.
Little Darlington.. hehehe I can live with that... one driver compaired it to bristol but the banking isnt that pitched... and another said it was like Atlanta for the 10th scale.. but that didnt fit eather. ;)

Right now I just finished up Sarah's car for the Velodrome...this years Dodge Intrepid body from Gary Mac. is looking like a screaming bullet........

Personaly Dave, I think with the 04 Monte Carlo from Gary Mac. (McAllister Racing) it is wider at the nose and the rear which should make a pan car (superspeedway) planted which will make modified possible.......with the right chassis setup and the right wing angle and maybe a smakk spoiler......I can make it work.......

Now in Gas sprint car this year I think caps are the way to go....too bad I won't have it ready for testing with caps by Thursday.......we will see if "littl darlington" can hold a modified.......if IO can get it work and work well can I have a "cookie"????

DWBryan
04-05-2004, 10:03 PM
Yep the caps will be the ticket or there is a premounted eather yokomo or shoumacher set of rubber tires that will do the trick as well for the sprinters.
Foamys seem to be going away, dont know if it was temp or what but now they dont seem to be doing as well as go ol rubber.
What about the T-bird bodys?? or the camerio.. dont they have it anymore?
JR was telling me that the 99 pontiac wasa decent design for his track.

Krisfo
04-05-2004, 11:51 PM
Well.... i've tried the 99 pontiac, and the 2000 pontiac, and the 2004 pontiac......and well I like the Monte Carlo cuz it feels balanced....a good mix of downforce front and rear.............not just in one place like the pontiac.....in front....

Finally finished puttin the nitro sprint cat together...fired up that motor.......boy does it have some power......brought the wheels up.........he heh heheh

But I can't seem to keep some parts together on it.......lol first run the brake lever fell apart..stupid clip on bottom....2nd run the shock fell off......3 rd run....the servo horn broke.......so it has some bugs yet......

laterz...kris\

DWBryan

As far as the brake lever, use a locking collar on the top and bottom centered for action and you will never have another problem with it... its the BEST fix for that I have ever done.
Pliobond glue keeps metal to plastic grip real good for the screws.. its like locktight when you have metal to metal contact... real good to keep the stiff together.
I get Pliobond at HWI do-it center hardware stores.. and a 3oz bottle is around $5 with tax and lasts the whole season.
It also what I have used to glue up foamys as well as the home made CAPS I have done.. itsd GREAT stuff. :)

Krisfo
04-07-2004, 02:03 AM
Cool Dave...thanx bud.......

I found something to keep it all together. It is kinda like a set screw collar, but the wire goes all the way thru this piece and has two set screws. It seemed to work well, I made 4 runs with the car and it all stayed together. Samething with the brake linkage i made up. It works very well. I think I have it set right.....engine idles but keeps car at bay...then when you move the trigger forward the brakes engaged.....

So you know what that means....I will be up there probably playing around with it......it looks fast, but we will see if I can handle it...so tell Bryan to take it easy on me....lol I'm a rookie this year again in gas.....lol

Laterz...

Well...Saturday Afternoon/Evening we had a fun night of practice. Special thanks to Dave and the crew for allowing us to "Play"!!!!!!!

I would like to thank Brian Deeal for his advice on the sprints...he's played with his alot....Congrats on the fast laps and the record at 32.........I was happy with mine at a 6.16.....just could'nt keep heat in the tires and the radio glitch hampered my night..........Sarah had her hands full with the Pan Car...but we get it figured out for her........

When the weather warms up I think three sprints out there hooked up will shatter the speed records.......If i had a radar gun I would almost bet that Brian was hitting 40 down the straights.....mine was too ......his was aewsome in the corners.....

Think I figured out how to fix the sprint car and make it faster.....lol

Man it was really hooked up tonight....I wonder what the new record would've been if you hadn't have said anything.....lol But oh well.......POO happens......

Can't wait till Brian and I actually race with a couple of other cars.......man I wonder if we can get Sprinters to hook up and draft.........

Kris

P.S. Thanks for allowing me to play till midnight......you the man!!!!!!!!!!

you can get rid of that push buy getting a LOSI XXXNT ....just ask Stoney he got one now he dont lose ......

but anyways to get try a softer spring in the front right or change the shock oil ....i ran 45 in the front and 35 in the rear .....and get the truck lower to the ground....3/4 inch ride height .....just make sure the rear is just a tad softer than the front .....

Metal
04-16-2004, 10:29 PM
This coming from a guy who doesnt even race Nitro anymore. Bring a XXXNT and I will show you a GT that doesn't push.........lol

BTW.....who's gonna race tomarrow?

04-17-2004, 08:33 AM
the first person that will listen to me will be winning the most.....or having the most fun ....losi part 7690 in silver front and back....put losi shocks on ...red and orange springs 45 oil in front and35 in the rear and you tweak it to get around the corners and BAM it a winner ......

you ever get that nitro sprint running ???

Had fun at Indy this past weekend! I called it guys.....I hit the turn 2 wall at over 60+ miles an hour...sheared the front right side of the car off......thank god for that aero bumper.......It happend while testing something during practice (2nd practice run) putthe car back together and made consistent 17 lap runs all day........but nuffin and I mean nuffin beats the thrill of Nitro Thunder......so tell Brian Deel to bring the nitro Sprint and let's get nasty Saturday.........

Your welcome guys,
Last saturday was a decent night of raceing.. not many drivers but it was fun.
the secret to getting rid of most of the push from any nitro truck to run on the concrete is re-place the out of box caster blocks to 10 degree ones.. or even 5 degree... some say 5 is too much and you get so much bite that the rear gets loose and some like that "dirt trackin style" :)
Hope to see you guys next saturday and bring a freind... and remeber mon - sat is FREE track time for practice and getting hooked up... you will need it.. trust me!
I have a secret to tell everyone latter when its all settled... Hint " Champion Driver may race YOU here! "

Tim,

I know who it is.....but I can't tell u or I will have to kill you......On Dave's comment on the post " Nothing is set in stone or confirmed" It could be him, or some hotshot dirt oval champion who is a local racer.......who knows.....you all will have to come out and play at the track every saturday n ight and see who pops in for night of racing.......this track is getting alot of publicity and "buzz" around the pits at different tracks around the state and surrounding areas......

Dave I suggest we give "Littl Darlington" a bit of a facelift in the next couple of months.........I will by a couple 5 gallons buckets of paint....... and Brian.....you up to donating some materials and time to construct a new drivers stand.....I know the concrete shaver is gonna be pricey...but hey all it takes is a couple of hungry drivers to get things going in the right direction, and next thing you know we gots plenty of help!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And one hell of a place to race!!!!!!!!!!

I hear on Saturday it is supposed to thunderstorm in the afternoon, and a 40% percent chance of thunderstorms w/ temps in the upper 40's for the evening.....we will have to watch the weather......If that is the case, I won't be there cuz I will go thru too many caster blocks and end up tearing the sprint all to pieces.....

I wish this stupid weather would stay consistent...cuz I wanna have SATURDAY NIGHT NITRO THUNDER every sat night already!!!!!!!!!!;)

Well the weather got us this last saturday.. rain race with the agwatreds.. but it was fun while it lasted... my thanks to the guys that showed and I hope next saturday will be a nicer one.
Everyone was in a good mood even though the weather was not as pleasent.
Well I did anounce it this last saturday so I'll post it here now.
I talked to the new race director at Team Associated last week and it was brought up about a couple of Team Associateds finest joining us here in the near future to mix it up with us.
In another conversatoin is was mentioned that if possable and if contacted reguarding that same day one of NASCARS Finest Mr Tony Stewart ( Custom Works ) may be interested in comming as well depending on his schedual.. but none of this is etched in stone as of yet.
I will be notifyed when it is set so I can get notice to the news papers and radio as well as as many as I can to broadcast this special event day.
I just want to be 1 of the 1st to get to shake thier hand and race with them also that day... win lose or draw, its a REAL HONOR to be on the same feild with them.
I'll keep you all posted and updated to what I learn as to who and when this will happen.
Im highly looking forward to the possabilitys of such history being made here at the Schoolyard RC Speedway ( aka little darlington & LaGrange International Speedway ) or the crator depending on who yu talk to. ;)
BUT at any rate Outlaw 2004 is HERE!

I will be getting the concrete shaver on Monday or Tuesday. Dave and I will be taking care of a few spots that need attention. Its hard for me to get any time in the evenings to do anything so if any of you could help out I know Dave would appreciate it. I will definately make time on Thursday to help out.

To any of the guys who have raced at the Schoolyard. Dave has put everything he has both finacially and time into this track. If any of you can think of any way or thing we could do to get this thing going please speak up! In order to get a better racing facility we need drivers to show up and race to get the funds for inprovements. Where would everyone run if there wasn't a Schoolyard Speedway? A business of this type can not remain with just 8-10 drivers showing up a week. I honesly believe that Dave isn't a greedy man and we could all see many improvements to the track if he just had the funds. He has told me personally if he had the funds (drivers showing up) that we could be racing for new RTR Kits and anything else we could possibly want. Bottom line is, Improvements cost money. If drivers don't show up there can't be improvements. Dave has put everything he has into it, Now i think its up to the Drivers to give back if we want a place to race.

My 2 cents,

Brian

DWBryan

Im looking into a new design of the drivers stand having steel instead of wood... what I have is solid... with 4 of us today after seeing the post of un-safe we walked around and tryed to get it to wiggle or shift and it stayed together... it just looks like a eye sore. But at any rate Im trying to get a better one.
The splitting of the days/time and classes is to offer a alternitave to the drivers that hate waiting 1 1/2 hrs in between heats or racing until midnight.
As I put on my website we will run ALL classes that show up for the saturday night (5pm) untill I get complaints.. when that happens I will either provide weaker supporting classes to run sat day, or sunday.
The only other option is say we dont run that class here anymore.. and I hate to do that to a driver that likes that class of RC racing.
When a heat is over I set a timer for 5 min to the next race's start... 95% of all the drivers I have asked like that just fine so if a driver is ready to go we can run 6 classes per round at 1hr making the total night of racing 4 1/2 hrs long.
If I have 8 - 12 classes I can shave it to 2 min but that dont change the total of the hrs by much at all and can take 6 - 7 hrs to compleat.. I get complaints if I shave a race night to 2 heats and the feature, almost everyone wants 4 races per night.
I really dont know how else to do it to please everyone.. I just do my best and hope that is good enough.
If anyone else thinks they can do a better job I invite them to give it a try.. Im not being sarcastic... I really want to make this place happen and everyone havea good time, just no one is interested in doing what I do.. them that have tryed told me I can have it, they wont do that again, its just too much hassel.
Im thinking of a new benifit for the drivers now... I know this hobby costs and some feel they should get more back from a night of racing... I tryed paying cash for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place untill a fist fight happened over $10.
So how does this sound.. the top 3 in the feature get 50% OFF of the next weeks entery fee? I have thought about it and if I get the 26 nitro trucks that say they are going to race I can do that easyly as well as a nice trophy & prize at the end of a point series run. but if there is only 3 in the class it just leaves me short paying the bills.

DWBryan
04-25-2004, 11:57 PM
Trophys and awards also have been sumitted to the complaint department... some dont want trophys, "no place to put them" , "cant carry em around to show off", ... " my trophys are lame," & so on.
I then thought that the anodized aluminum plate with the info would be a good idea so that they could be collected on a plaque or in the lid/outside of the pit box to show off... but I still have some that where never taken as well as some trophys, so they didnt like that eather... we tryed gift certificates for the hobby shop and that was kinda ok except they wanted to trade em in for cash.
I sincerly dont know what will work without putting me out of buisness... other shop or track owners make a living at this, Im REALLY not interested in getting rich (it would be ok) but I cant pay my bills and I have had to pay over $300.oo electric bills out here and no money for anythng else at all.. even FOOD.
Its a numbers game... the more drivers per class the better stuff I can do for them, 12 classes of 3-8 per class limits what I can give that class back... I have taken proceeds from a larger class to provide awards to a class that only had 3 total in it so the larger class that the $ came from got shorted from what they could have gotten.
Hard problems to solve with no easy answer... I TRUELY belive that this sport has a lot to offer and is BIG Legue racing but it just dont get the promotions it deserves such as NASCAR, (not thousands of people out there doing it like RC) same as other sports... I REALLY want to make this place diferent and be the place to race in a pro style and benifits for drivers here same as the RC PRO drivers get. :)

I want to building the new bathroom with running water and everything, I have 3 permits for improvments and none of the projects are yet complete.
The red metal garage was to be the hobby shop with the bathrooms, all I need is 5 grand to finish it, but we can still do somthing with the old port a pot if I know what is needed to make it sutable... I know there has to be a better way, after all Im the one that has to take out the waist and clean it.. I hate the job but it must be done, I built that one with what I had availible to work with untill I get the shop built with better ones. Folks needing a better way to go has always be able to go in my home untill I get a better place built for the occasion.
I have spent over 32 grand out there and Im not done yet... it is hard to see that amount spent out there but I have the recipts... I will need to get together another $10 -$15.000.00 tofinish it acording to the designs my permits are purchased for.

We are getting the new drivers stand almost ready... we have been running from up there already and its AWSOME!!!
The new stand was designed by drivers for drivers to get the best view of the track, B. D. is a certifyed welder... YEP WELDER... and is doing a SUPER JOB providing his expert service and materials. ;)
The new D.Stand is 8ft high X 6ft Wide and 23ft long with steel construction including hand rails and all.
Drivers now can get a birds eye view over the entire track with ease and also see whats happening long before they get to the spot of a wreck or problem... my anouncing will maybe un-nessassary of "go low turn 3" but I will still provide the service anyway. :)
We also did some more meriatic to turn 3 for higher bite going in.. and will be shaving the backstrait soon.
Many improvments are in the making.

DWBryan

Ddi some more shaving of the concrete tonight.. makes it a bit smoother and smooth is fast.. layed out more meratic for the bite.
Fast lane has been changed.

WOW this forum get soooo much attn, :(
Guess it like all the other stuff I have been trying to get going... All boring and useless.
But this can be a place to excange info for that great setup that works the best... if yu hook going in change the R front to ?? and running the 17t clutch bell with the 64t spur provides great acceleration and so on.
Or drivers can provide insite as to what can be a improvement to the situation of the race nights.
But unfortunetly this area gets hardly any use at all.
Ohh well its here anyway.
Pit road is now being replaced with concrete instead of the old wood, and the shaving is done.. the bumps are gone!
The new 8ft drivers stand is almost done... just needs the painting finished.

Krisfo

A couple of suggestions.......please don't take these out of context.....

1. Before the racing night...get the drivers together for a drivers meeting......make it mandatory...if you don't show up and are entered to race you get a lap deducted from best run of the night.....standard at most tracks around. That and a meeting before the race states the rules before the game is startede, nobody likes the rules to change in a game of checkers half way thru the match......right???

2. Turn Marshalling.......same consequence as number one........nobody likes to have there best run taken away from them...however it helps both the racers racing, and the race director keeps things going........

3. speak out at the racetrack...don't go gripeing to so and so about the track or such.......remember dudes...you support it.....Brian Deel has given up his time from his family to build the drivers stand, and donated the resurfacer to fix the problems as best as possible........so maybe some others outta start helping instead of complaining......

Dave I will more than likely be there Sat. night...however I haven't spent time at home to finish a few projects...so I might have to shorten the list of things to do this weekend so I can go play more....

Kris Fowler

P.s. Sarah wood did an awesome job at the velo this weekend...she got a 17 4:05.33 run in and turned no less than 16 laps all day long...meanwhile my ride had some wicked radio problems and I only got one 17 4:10.23 run in.....

I think I can field that question....

Right now we only have a couple of 6 cell pancars running stock motors......however......I feel a good setup and such with 4 cells and a 19t motor will keep up and be competive....

So come on down and race with us.........Make sure you bring green compound caps......and some red compound caps........

If you needs a suggested setup for a pancar...just ask I tell you what my 6 cell setup is.......with a few minor changes....I think the same setup will work pretty nice......

If you gots a Nitro cars laying around ...bring that too........the more the marrier!!!!!!!

Brian...I have it done........but you gotta provide the fuel dude.......I'm outta fuel as of last night........so if that okay with you......I will make it up there with my gilfriend........and for your info Sarah ain't my g/f........just a teammate.........LOL

So lets Rock this place on Saturday night!!!!!!!!!!!

4 cell pan is a option that can be considered even for saturday nights lineup... the Outlaw Winston is 6 cell and Outlaw Bush can be the Busch? but they can be split as long as there is more than just 1. ;)
We are going to be installing more lights or better ones in the pit area as well as on the track. We have added a couple more pit tables so we can now pit 50 drivers with ease and plenty of room.. 100 would be a squeeze and tight, but wouldnt know what to do with that many anyway... the most has been 58.
We have what 4 weeks left in the 1st point run and then July 3rd will be the Independance 500 ( 110 lap Main/Feature ) for Nitro Truck class and Nitro Gearbox.
For Electro Classes last year we started combining the total laps of the 2nd and 3rd heat and deducted them from the 110 lap so the feature was the remaining laps needed to make the total 110 laps.
Such as 2nd heat you get 35 and the 3rd you get 36 for 71 laps so you would need to run 39 laps. the heats are 4 min and the feature is a non timed run.
So I hope this makes that plan more clear. :)
To run the 500 there must be a total of at least 5 in the class that was active at least 5 of the 8 weeks to get a trophy & gift certificate, all others will get just the gift certificate.
Any awards will be for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.. all others get a partisipant ribbon.
This saturday will be the 1st anouncement and reservation signup for the 500 race so I can plan out how many awards to get for the classes wishing to make the run.
Making a reservation for the 500 and the mizar will cost nothing, I just need to know what will be running and how many so for the next 3 weeks I will be getting that info gathered.

Well I must say the Dominator looks good out there, as well as all I seen last night... I'd say it went smooth and looks like everyone had a good time. ;)
As I predicted all the old standing records will get broke so it opens up classes to better racing and faster pace.
This week I get the chance to get more of the work done so next saturday wil be even better.
Rem this track is open for FREE practice monday - Friday to give driver the chance to get setup for clean and smooth racing saturday nights.
Its here, its ready and was built for YOU! ;)
Just please remember it does cost me to turn on the lights so do it in the daylight hours for me... I'll light it up for 1 hr after sunset ( that wont break me.. but untill midnight just gives me a $300.oo + light bill out there.
Thanks

Congrats goes out to Brian Deel and Brad Fabin for there new track records last night.....Brad has got that nitro touring car hooked up and it flies!!!!!! He is now the fastest man/women ever at the speedway!!!!!! With a 43 lap run!!! Brian Deel has built a kick butt outlaw gearbox car.......that sucker rocks.........

The Outlaw Winston cars are moving pretty good too......I think we will be the first to break 44 laps.......we came close 43 last night with a 42 4:01.00!!!!! It take consistent 5.6's or 5.7's too do it........the track is smooth enough now.....EVERYONE BRING OUT THERE PAN CARS!!!!!!!!!

John Cummings...bring your pan car man.....mix it up with us Winston Cup guys!!!!!

Later all!!!!!!!!
