They have been getting a really nice urn out at state line,But we need to keep School Yard going to.So Invite all you know to come and support our favorite pass time for both tracks.

Well due to the lack of funding going on these days, there has been only 6 - 8 drivers racing here anymore.. this last weekend we had 4 nitro trucks, 2 electic trucks (payed entery fee) and 6 BRP 1/18th scale (raced for free)
Id like to get the chance to bring my MGT over to Stateline, But blew my engine and none to replace it yet.
Things here are real real hard right now... anyone wanting to call me use my home phone #260/463-3558.. I had to have the 463-3598 number discontected.
Im still selling off some of the hobbyshop items at my cost and will discontinue carring them.. All touring, Buggy, & pancar items.
Thes classes dont race here anymore... just trucks ele and nitro.
1/18th scale classes will only be STOCK! BRP (car) 18t trucks Losi mini T only and only STOCK.
Limiting the classes will makethe night go faster and smoother when we have more than 6 - 8 drivers.
The funding for everyone is bad these days, and I take that into concideration.. but must do what I feel is best for what has proven to be the backbone of this place since 1999.
So Im also selling my own personal stuff that there is no class here to race with except my MGT that someday I plan to run on the dirt oval ( Stateline )
So my Team TC3 with extra new in pack parts ( $200.oo)
NTC3 RTR $200.oo
Ele DS $75.oo Roller + parts NIP
NDS $50.oo Roller + caps + parts NIP
Are up for #1 Sale.... or #2 l trade for BRP/MGT/RC18T stuff.

Dave, whats the latest?

Metal
07-18-2006, 10:08 PM
The latest is, I went to the Schoolyard Saturday and not a single sole was there. Whatever your reasons for not supporting the track please keep them to yourselves. When the track and transponder system is gone you will wish you could find something to do on a Saturday night for $10 bucks!

I was the only one there with a Nitro truck three weeks in a row. Rob came to see what was happening but was still needing a motor. Other than that, there were only a couple people for two of the weeks, and the one week I was the only person there. I have been working the last few weekends. I really want to see the place come back to life. I really enjoy racing there. Please, let me know if there is anything I can do to help, I'll do my best to help bring it back.

There hasnt been any racing here in over 3 months, The track is still free for fun run, practice, ect.
The day of racing has been open for suggesdtion for some time now.. but no one interested... Next year Im taking the walls down and doing somthing diferent.. if that is the problem??? just let em fly off into a dirt pile or somthing.
Gear em down and make em slower and the impact isnt so hard... go fast and hit hard is the laws of physics.
So if the walls ar too hard and ya break too much let me know what I can do to fix the problem... I have heard 1000 diferent reasons as to why this place has been hung out to dry up. The bathroom is bad, the grass is too high, there are weeds growing around the track, other guys are too fast to run with, I break stuff too much, I dont like to race with this guy, I want to race this class, There needs to be more awards, the mosquitos are bad, we want to use the personal transponders, the track is too agressive, the track needs more lighting, the track is now too small, not enogh shade, the racing takes too long, there is too many in a class racing at the same time, race 4 min races, race 5 min races, need to have a diferent lineup for the race to start, not enoght in the class to race, pit area needs moved to other side of the track, kids shouldnt turn marshal, Turn marshals need to stand in a difernt place, there needs to be more guys turn marshaling, the drivers stand is too high, the drivers stand is too hard to get on top, Tires wear out to fast, Cost too much to race, the economy is bad, ect, ect, ect.
No wonder this place is dead... its just in too bad of condition and I dont run it right.
Or is it my breath. :)

Yea sorry no web anymore or hobby shop, but the track is still out there and I plan to FEATURE BRP 18th scale racing... want it cheap? want it fun! here is the one.

DWBryan
10-22-2007, 05:45 PM
Well to date this 2007 there was NO racing here on the concrete track, only 6 people showed up all summer to play for FREE, ( Free was no problem ) but they was not interested in racing, just some setup tips and fun laps.... since I 1st opened in 2000 there have been over 150 people run this track, the best night ( well most people in 1 night) was 63 racers.. some ran up to 3 diferent classes of rc car/truck.
The track is still here so maybe next year as the say?
But if there is any interest in racing carpet this winter right down town Lagrange, it may happen??? time will tell and so will drivers if there is still any around to do it.

I started moving into the downtown store for the indoor track... looks like a 18th scale track for sure... 18 x 34

DWBryan
11-24-2007, 05:46 PM
Well we had the 1st race of the 18th scales and had some fun... a 3 car event.. but its a start.
Track opens at noon and racing starts at 2pm... downtown lagrange at the old atez store right next to the detroit street bar and grill.

DWBryan

The uptown track is now closed and all is being packed back home.
Ohh well I tryed.
BUT rem I still have the 240ft banked concrete out here for thoes who have any intestinal fortitude and a will to try to master it.
This next summer I'll open it again and we will race:
Outlaw 1/8th scale buggy/car
Outlaw Nitro Trucks
Nitro tourning, and 19t ele touring
stock BRP, Stock 18th trucks
Outlaw ele and nitro nascar ( 2wd car )
And see how that works.
entry is same as always 10th scale is 10 for the 1st class and 5 for each aditional up to 3!
18th scale is still just 5 per class up to 3.
MUST have 4 in a class to race.
The track is FREE 7 days a week to play/practice. just have to pay when its race time. I still just have the old AMB that dont support personals YET but have handouts for ya to use for the events.
Race day is not yet set... we use to race every sat starting at 5pm.. but may be subject to change in time or another day pending on drivers needs.

the track is still there. there hasn't been any organized racing there for about 5 yrs. If anyone wants to start back racing there post on here. I know of annother that stated that he would like to go back out there and race.
Dave(track owner) has said that there is free practice. to come out and run some laps.

have you been to the track? imo it is too narrow/small for sc racing. that and wouldn't want the dirt to get onto the concrete

I say we start racing there again boys.......I mean does dave still have the old scoring system??? Is the drivers stand still there.....is the concrete still good.....

I mean even if we take 2 saturdays out of the month to start this summer maybe...maybe we can have some good old racing at "Littl Darlington"....

I can see some nitro trucks, nitro touring cars, pan cars...and even the new class Super Late models doing well at the track.....

Any other former racers at this track feel the sameway I do???

Would you be willing to bring those shelf queens out to race again 2 weekends a month during the spring to rekindle this facility????

Post and lets see what happens....

Well its been awhile, I was surprised to see this message thread is still here.
I gave up years ago to try to make this place work again.
The track is still here and is still free.
The track has held up well.. not even many cracks.. but the concrete is thick with 1 ton of steel rod in it and is laying on the old hard packed dirt track it started out as.
And I still have a couple of cars that still work, or did last summer when I took a few laps.... lost 1.... I see I can still run fast enough to blow a engine out there.. in 2nd gear with the NTC3.
Brushless BRP 1/18 scale hits it next spring.

DWBryan
02-11-2011, 04:51 PM
Yep they are.. I did have one with 10 in the mid somwhere in the race where every one was broke up in drafting lines.. but cant find it so far.
A lot of this stuff I havent thought about for a long time.. its got to be here somwhere?

All in all the track hasnt changed much some of the paint has faded and there is grass in all the bear dirt areas.. no traffic to wear it down so more to mow LOL
The road grader has been moved and the school bus drove away.
The fence is mostly removed and a new property line behind the track with a fence added to hold the livestock that will now be in there.. but if we make enough noise they will probably stampede to the other end. HAHAHAHAHa
The apple tree that caught a few trucks is now mostly dead due to cattle eating it from the other side... but all in all its pretty much the same.
Its snow covered but good right now, but as soon as I can I post new pics of it... Hmm also google earth I seen it from space or high alt anyway 46761 zip Lagrange IN will show it.

Sure would be fun to race concrete oval again.

DWBryan
02-12-2011, 09:59 PM
You have run here before I take it.. or ran on concrete someplace to get a bit of the experience of it.
If Lagrange IN is a close enough dist to your location.. its still not a imposable thing to have... make the dream a reality.
You can race me. :)
Im a rookie and easy to beat but maybe good practice to get ya ready to go up against the best... who knows maybe we will all read about you winning the worlds?? who knows?? the future is always a mystery.
All I do know its still a bit fun to just take a rc out to the track and get some laps, try dif setups. I have that kind of fun at least once a month out there in the summer.
Only once last winter.. it was just too cold to ice drift.
Hmm I ran some laps in Sept.

Who's that non-driving fool at the far end of the drivers stand in the 2nd pick? Heard this was the place where he "cut his teeth."

I heard that we went on to place high or win the snowbird nationals a couple of years ago.
But every one on that drivers stand is 1st class and A-main kinda people.

Hey Dave!.....sure miss the old concrete track where I started it all.

I keep telling myself I am going to buy a gallon of nitro and come up and burn some laps. I am going to put this on my priority list and the boy and I will be up. He plays with the old BRP I use to run up there. How fitting it would be for us to start his oval career at the same track dad started his.

Will see you soon!
