actually....no Dave as long as you enter the race and if you are late you still have a shot.......and if you have a bad heat you still have 2 more races to get the most laps you can.........

What I'm saying is you get your spot based on 1 4 minute heat........not based on 8 minutes!

That is what racing is about.....if you want it bad enough.....race hard and if somone is on the bubble of making the big show or making the B-Main tough poo!!!! That is racing...should've done better!!!!!

Sounds rough......sounds tough and so on ......but that is the rules and stuff I've raced under for years......

I put the new pic's of the track on the site now... check it out, I think they came out great.. and there is more to come.

I know where your comming from there... but its our 1st state champ race with more to come hopefully next year.. at that time we have to go with the reg rules.
But this year I have it layed out.. and well.. we're gona do it my way. ;)
If all goes well next year we will have a state champ race for other classes... who knows maybe even somday we may be on the US championship tour for the US #1 contenders.
Who knows???? I do know right now the SPORT of RC racing is badly on the decline... all the toerh tracks I have talked to as well as hobby shops are starving as bad as I am.
The Media (newpapers, TV, & radio ) dont want to cover the sport.. they call it a hobby only pastime. It all boilds down to bucks... if there was a hundred grand+ for the winner, with big name sponcership and millionare support this sport could get the prestege it deserves... untill then we have to do what we can to keep it alive.
I have tryed my best to get drivers the backing they need, as well as other supporting issues, I will keep it up untill we make it or break it.
Corporate america for right now is just interested in its next victem/compeditor to fold.

I know my last message seemed a bit off the subject but I needed to blow off a bit of steam.. I spent part of the day talking to what I KNOW are buisness doing well just to get blowed off with the line " We cant provide anything to rc drivers.. we dont have anything to do with racing"
I wanted badly to suprize drivers with a cash bonus at the end of the year to help them get the needed parts and things that could make this all worth doing over just having fun.
RC manufacturers have thier hands full promoting and sponcering already.
Other buisness are glad to sell us products like food, gasoline, new cars, & electric power.. and they will drop a million into nascar evens... but not a single $100 dollar bill for prize $ to a RC event even if it is named after thier buisness..
Example " Maytags Nitro Truck 500 " <--- Just a example maytag no slam intended but is a hint to get your name in racing.
NONE of the buisness I contacted would even buy 3 trophys.. but are glad when you buy some of thier batterys, velcro, Glue, or misc for your RC!!

I managed to get MSC Indistrial Supply to provide trophies for the race I am having.......they have also kicked out over 3,800 dollars worth of door prizes over the last 2 1/2 years I have been back into the "sport"........My next visit to the speedway, I plan on chatting with the manager of the local McDonalds to see if maybe they would be willing to give out a card to the racers as an awrd that would allow them to recive a small, but very considerate discount on food!!!!!!!! If I can get a billion dollar company that I work for to sponsor me and the races I hold...maybe just maybe I can get the food place to sponsor a race!!!!!!!!!

Dave, I have no clue why these things happen to you.......but I think it has to do with the demographic area.......and past experiences......the present racers at the speedway have to suffer from the others mistakes, sad story I know but that is what happens!!!!!! However I would be willing to bet this group would support a sponsors efforts more than the others....cuz these guys are racers! Die hards to the bone!!!!! Eventhough the 'yard hasn't seen 58 racers yet this year...be very thankful for the 20 or so you get.......cuz up in Lansing.......there are only 8 die hards up there!!!!!!!!!!

Actually...there has been television coverage for the sport.......

Not this past March...but the very first year I was back in the sport.....at the Cavalcade of Wheels car show in South Bend Indiana NewsCenter 16 did a live interview with me, and a few other drivers. Back in 1996 up untill 1998 there was a columist for the Goshen Newspaper that did an article about the Goshen Radio Controlled Car Club, and actually posted the results of the races in her column........and last year a columnist for the South Bend Tribune did an atricle about off-road R/C Car racing up in Laporte, Indiana!!!

So don't let it get you down BRO!!!!!!!!!!! You just gotta get hooked up with the right people(s) to get the job done......I have some connections, and I will see what I can do!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I happen to be a very infuential person in this sport!!!!!!!

Just an update for those who Dave did not talk to about this race. Trophies are ordered, I should be recieving them shortly! The awards will be plaques, with blue venier, and blue plates with white letters. We can thank myself, and MSC INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY CO. for this.....also I have sent a copy of the race flyer to every R/C Manufacture I have delt with!! Waiting for confirmation........

Now the general rules for this race...Since this is a KGF MOTORSPORTS event and the Schoolyard is allowing us to host the race KGF MOTORSPORTS GENERAL RULES APPLY!!! THESE ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1. MANDATORY drivers meeting at 4:45pm. If you ain't there you get docked (1) lap from your best run. Exception to this is if you are late getting there!!! Work etc. Please see me as soon as you get there...and you are cool!!!!

2. ALL DRIVERS WILL CORNER MARSHAL! If you are racing, you will turn marshal or you will be deducted (1) lap from your best run!!! Exception to this is those who are physically unable to turn marshal!

3. ALL DRIVERS will present themselves in a sportsmanlike manner. EX: NO ARGUING! NO FIGHTING! and ABSOLUTELY NO PROFANE LANGUAGE!!! Reason, race sponsors will be in attendance!!!!!

4. ALL DRIVERS WILL HAVE FUN!!!!!!! After all boyz.....we race for the competion!!!

5. ALL RADIOS WILL BE IMPOUNDED! However if available you will be allowed to make adjustments during a break, but the radio goes back to the impound before all racews resume. Failure to do so is AN INSTANT DISQUALIFACTION OF YOUR LAST RUN!!!

6. Race director(s) decisons are final, and any violation of these simple rules of competition can and will be grounds for expulsion of the event or forfeiture of any and all race fees!

Now some might ask why the rules, and the impound???? Your radios will be monitored and under supervision, they will also be under a canopy out of the sun on a table.......On the rules thing....done to better the competition and keep the event running smoothly............

A race flyer file is posted on the KGF MOTORSPORTS UP COMING EVENTS PAGE!!!

Just curious, what classes will this be for? Being that trophies have been ordered, I assume you know what classes they will be handed out to.

BTW Kris, you missed some of the best racing at the Schoolyard on Saturday. The Outlaw Nitro truck class was the most competitive its been all year. My debut weekend with the new Nitro Touring scored me 2 wins and a tie of the old track record of a 5.25 which Brad Fabin broke in the same race with a 5.24. Was some awesome racing Saturday and hope to see everyone for the Independence 500 this coming Saturday.

WOW that a pretty nice layout on the KGF Motorsports site for the old Schoolyard. :)
Thanks its apreciated.. I'll see if I can re-do the links on my site.. yours looks a lot better.
I write myown in the old fashon long hand html and there is a lot I could learn.

With the 1/18th scale championship in Sept, and the 500 this weekend along with this 2004 Paved Oval Outlaw Nationals ,... its came a long way from the dirt oval that it started as. And thats cool
Once again I was asked what I wouold do if this Speedway really grew and 100 drivers startred comming to mix it up.
All I can say we would have to wait and see.. but the prizes would get grander, the conditions would improve, and Racers would get more out of what RC Racing has to offer.
Also I could pay the bills with cash instead of a I.O.U
And that would be what makes me the happy go lucky kinda dude.

I know I missed it, but I needed a break to get things done man!! You know I'm a die hard to the bone...with the frustration we had at the Velodrome...I said to myself if I don't take a break....I'm gonna go off like a firecracker.... :)

Congratulations Brian!!!! You didn't sell the sprinter or the DS did yas??? Hint hint....

To answer your questions ......classes covered for the Nationals race are as follows:

6 cell Stock Touring
Outlaw Nitro touring Car
6 cell Outlaw Winston
Super Outlaw Oval Truck
Outlaw Oval Truck
Gearbox Car/ Truck......We will make this one a gearbox open class!
and Dave....just for you the BRP's will be covered for the A-Main...and if there is a bunch of them a B-Main also!!!!!!!!

**NOTE***** ANY AND ALL ADDITIONAL CLASSES THAT WHICH TO ENTER THE EVENT NOT LISTED ABOVE, MUST PRE-REGISTER AND HAVE A MINIUM OF 4 REGISTERED RACERS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR AWARDS *******

EXAMPLE: 2 235mm Dominators which to enter the day of race.....Since the class is not listed they must register and have 4 entries or they will not recive awards. However if 4 enter the day of race, and pay full entry fees, we will do our best to give an equal award equilivent to the cost of the plaques purchased for the event. Example if the plaques for the class cost $11.00 for 1st 2nd 10.00 3rd 8.50 you will recieve a cash prize of that amount, door prize of your choice if possible, or a gift certificate good at the hobby shop......sound cool????

That'll help it out... Zippy get Krisfo or send me some flyers to hang out here.. we can help spread the word.
Hmmm how far is it to get there from here? I know about where but cant find my atlas.. I know I have ran there when I was trucking... I use to run moble homes up there in that area.. I rem there was a restricted time for pulling oversized loads around the area.. but that has been years ago.

DWBryan
06-28-2004, 11:00 PM
Hmm also got to thinking... Ouch!
What about getting a tri-state regional in the ajenda for next year or maybe even sooner? I believe there is a track in OH that is simular to these 2 and take 3 weeks, 1 run there, 1 here, 1 in OH and then run the final for the champ at 1 of the 3... the track that has the most locals show or by drivers choice. ??

DWBryan
06-30-2004, 11:51 PM
Oh I know you wanst slaming by craftsmanship.. I did get a lot praise with them.. but I did make a few of them that where rather chinsy looking... but those where built on the budget based on the income of the track and partisipation was low.. some of the classes only had 2 cars and I provided stuff to all the classes... I was a bit ambarased to hand them out.. but it was all I had and could get at the time.. some of the ones a made took me the best part of a day to build just 3.. it was a lot of work... the cost of the wood, printed anodized aluminum plates, the metal gold colored eagles, and the molded car and stuff I put of them made the cost of the triphy less than me buying them.. one had a value if bought from the trophy shop would have cost me over $40... I know I matched it to one quite simular to it they had on display.. so when I built it it droped the cost to a bit over $15 and a lot of elbow grease. I know htere was no complaint with that set even though I made em myself.
Its all depending on the individual whether they are neet or not.. I know a lot of the guys would rather go back to me just paying cash and maybe I'll do that... I'll have to give it a lot of thought.. after all I quit when 2 guys almost came to a knuckles fist fight over 10 bucks... that kinda stuff I WONT tolerate.. but if I get the right group that can get along I will consider it.

Yea the place is comming along... Hope to see ya somtime this season before its over and the snow flys again for another LONG winter.
We still have plans to make the place even better.. but all that is in the future... it takes drivers to run a race as well as get the place in better shape and more additions for the drivers... thats what the entry fee is for.

Krisfo
07-11-2004, 02:37 PM
The decisiion haaas been made to reducethe entry fees for the 2004 Paved Outlaw Oval Nationals. They are as follows:

$15.00 for 1st class
$10.00 for 2nd class
$5.00 for 3rd class

BRP Entry fee for the race is $10.00

This was done because drivers did not register early, and the BRP's race at a different rate than I was informed. So this means for an extra $5.00 for all classes you can compete for some really nice hardware, and some door prizes. IF there is a rainout, we will run the event on the 23rd!!!

So for those who did pre-register I informed you of this and what would happen if that was a rainout also!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanx and spread the word!!!! We have a bonified trophy race...and let's have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE DID IT!!!!!!!!! WE CLIMBED THE MOUNTAIN AND WE CAN CELEBRATE!!!

The first trophy run in almost 4 years finally happened at The Yard'. Littl Darlington proved that it would bring some close, competitive fun, awesome racing action!!!!!!! I could tell that the competitors were having fun, while racing for some awesome hardware! It brought me great honor to give those awards out to the drivers at the end of the event!

Pictures and results from the event will be posted on the official websyte of The Schoolyard R/C Raceway, and as KGF Motorsports get the pictures from the event we will post them on our websyte as well!!!

At this time though I would like to thank the competiors for supporting the track and the event! Without your participation the event would not have been a success. I would like to thank the official sponsors for the event, wihtout these individuals this event would not have been a success, MSC INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY ELKHART, IN.....VITAL SIGNS AND GRAPHICS....McALLISTER RACING BODIES FLAGSTAFF AZ, and Dave Bryan SCHOOLYARD RACEWAY.....he went out of his way to help plan the event and delayed the tracks 2nd points run so this event could take place for the racers!!!!!

KGF MOTORSPORTS along with the SCHOOLYARD RACEWAY are planning one more trophy run which will take place later on before the end of the racing season at the YARD'.......The Fall Classic............same entry fee structure ....same hot, competive racing action........

Allthough I didn't make it to the race last weekend I need to also thank Gary McAllister for producing the awesome Hagerstown Wedge body. Guys I must say if you are not running one of these at the Scoolyard you are definately missing out. In a awesome night of testing I made one run on the clock and was able to set a new track record for both time and laps. I just wish I didn't have to pull out the 1.6 hp NovaMega because of a worn connecting rod. The Mugen Mt-12 I was running just didn't have as much power and I can't wait to pick up a new rod.

BTW.....I wasn't using Caps either. HPI Advan tires 27 shore seem to be performing just as well as, if not better then the caps.

Gentlemen...gemtlemen.....I can see the race for the track championship and the state title in BRP is gonna get rather interesting!!!

Sitting here looking at data and stuff from the race at Lansing.....long track...fast speeds and need to wrk on setup!!!

Brian Deel took home the Michigan State Championship in 6 Cell Nascar followed by Jason Lash then myself. Big difference in racing with caps at our track on concrete , and raciing on asphalt......tire temps and camber gain, shocks spring and aerodynamics are way different for up there. Short track bodies work, but don't "free up" the car enough.........hard tires don't work well (NO GRIP...just ask SARAH!!) All in all a good time and we represented Schoolyard Raceway......

So don't forget......only two weeks till the 2004 Fall Classic race.....awards will be plaques, a cookout style food concession will be provided..or bring your own grille and cook some brats......

Same entry structure...same rules.....RADIO IMPOUND AND SPORTMANSHIP RULES APPLY!!!

Hopefully we will get alot more entries.....spreading the word all over 6the place!!!!

So if possible...drivers please get with dave and pre-register. If a rainout happens on race day...two options......keep entry fee till makeup day....or instant refund that night.

I will have to take a long look at that tape and see what I needs to improve on for corner speed up there. Car looked good up on driver stand, don't know what it looked like at trackside though.....tape will tell a thousand words on that issue. You and I will get together and plan for the indoor season stuff we talked about. First weekend in October that track will open. I will find out more details between now and then....

Yep I was pleased with the turnout and the weather as well... it all fell into place for a fun night.
This saturday is the Fall classics, hope to see another fine night go into history.
