I was just wondering if there was an interest in a TC3 Oval Graphite Chassis Conversion? I have enclosed a pic so let me know what you guys think.

My pics are too big but if you are interested send me an e-mail and I will send some pics.

tony Can u get me a top brace for my stock tc3. I heard that BMI made them, and two shock towers...

Thanks

Tornado_Racing

Shock towers are made by GPM and BMI does not have a replacement upper deck for the stock TC3 chassis. They make a whole conversion kit with an upperdeck, but no replacement upperdeck.

Thanks zoom but I didn't think that I drove to bad seeing we had a 10 car main and I still went 45 laps.
Number0 If you seen Zoom run the TC3 you wouldn't car him a trader. LOL

Tony,
I was thinking along the same lines as you on a oval touring car. In my opinion I would make it so that a 190mm body will still fit on it. Alot of tracks run oval with touring cars. They follow the roar rules being that it can only be 190mm wide. If you built it narrower I think alot of carpet races would pick it up.I am thinking of build a belt drive one similiar to yours.Keep up the good work.

OK that's awesome! Now we can get some of these poor misguided TC3RTR guys into the fold.lol When will they be available? I want one, so I can buy a TC3 to wrap around. Very nice car!

Echeconnee
03-08-2004, 11:36 PM
You guys at PRS need to get this up on Dave's conference if you have not already. He will post it for you if you ask him. It's not a RTR but should be posted there because this is as close to a RTR as we oval racers are going to get!

how thick is the chassis?

how much flex does it have?

Echeconnee
03-09-2004, 11:45 PM
JBM, you said a mouth full. I have been hoping that Assosiated would at least come out with a new front end where the top and bottom A arm both move and a micro shock could be installed on both sides.

jeepnyy

Iam looking more & more on that chassis....my question is ...is the wheelbase legal? looks like the battery location is farther out of the front & rear wheels. Is that consider 190 or 200 mm ?

wagonman72
03-10-2004, 01:18 AM
This looks KILLER. Needs to be set up for taping the batteries in and I would have the side of the chassis even with 190mm a-arms, just in case.

Tornado_Racing

Dave..........
The Chassis and upper deck (not pictured) is 3mm satin finish woven graphite. With out the upper deck the chassis has a tick of flex from front to rear. After the upper deck is installed the chassis should not flex at all.

Jeepnyy........
The chassis will fit under a McAllister 04' Taurus. From the left side of the chassis to the outside of the RR tire measures 8". The car has 190mm arms on the left and 200mm arms on the right. We cut the chassis to accept the 200mm wheelbase. That is why it is deceiving in the pics. We may make a the chassis to be a complet conversion for the 190mm car. This way anyone can convert it and still be 190mm legal.

Wagonman........
We will have the final version where you can use the stock TC3 battery strap or have the chassis slotted for the guys who want to use tape.

With the slots being wider we drilled the chassis to accept the IRS battery locator plates. This will keep the battery from moving from side to side.

I took a look at this car when no one was around Brooks' pit area Sat  and it was definetly cool. I would buy one and race oval with my TC3. A class of TC3's would be SLICK at Sandhills!

Looks to me like a way to get a shock frontend, rear suspension and 4wheel drive allowed in oval? This should really confuse the heck out of any new racer. Whats the price tag going to be on this little beauty?

the kit looks really nice.... what kind of motor mount is going to be used???? will this be a direct tc3 conversion or wil it be for the irs chassis...

Tornado_Racing
03-10-2004, 04:01 PM
Thanks for all of the great comments guys,

We will offer the kit in a 190mm version so the standard TC3 will fit directly over and you can run a 190mm body if needed. The car pictured is actually a 200mm conversion.

I will post more pics as they are available. The motor mount will be similiar to the normal "motor screw adjustment" and not have the clamp and cam set up.

so far I have $150.00 invested in the chassis.

Touring Oval should be a blast at Sandhills next year. 6-cell 19 turn on the high banks.................

Tony

your pictures are showing the car with front suspension arms on the rear and a nitro tc3 steering rack right????

Tornado_Racing
03-10-2004, 04:51 PM
DAVE...........

That is correct. Only one kind of arms to keep in the pit box when Brooks hits the wall real hard....LOL LOL LOL.

I mounted front suspension on the rear to allow for the adjustable rear toe. Plus I can alter the wheelbase by changing the "rear" caster blocks. The rear has zero but we can lengthen the RR by installing a 2, 4, or 6 degree caster block. The same can be done to the LR by using the same block and making the left side shorter.

Adding Toe to the LR only will allow the car to "swing" in and out of the corner faster as the LR tire will drive straight during cornering.

Pretty trick huh...............

Tony

Tornado_Racing
03-10-2004, 04:53 PM
The Nitro steering rack eliminates all bumpsteer and gives the correct ackerman. You will need to shim the ball studs if you change the caster from zero.

The rear of the chassis was slotted to accept either the NTC3 rear arm mount or for the stock TC3 Rear block.
