My hull profile, compared to the restored original and actual footage is right on the money. This was only possible through the cooperation of quite a few very talented individuals such as Ron Gross, Mike Sussek, Jeff King. There are many others that have helped along the way.
For the guys that want to make them as close to the filming miniatures, you could always go in and delete detail from the model.
I hope this answers a few questions about what was done. If I can answer any more questions I will.
Everyone have a nice night.

Well, Don't get me wrong, I'll most likely get a 2 and 4 footer, if I can convince the better half that I "need the 4 footer". I'm STILL waiting for a correctly shaped hull of the SPFX model, that WILL look like the original model when filmed or videotaped.

I was wondering...the J2 models...are they going to be limited to a certain number, or by popular demand? Its gonna take me awhile to save up :)

Here's some photos I have showing the flatness on TOP of the 4 footer Hull on a 60's era LIS Hull that was never turned into a SPFX model, but was stored at Fox central properties as a master 'just in case' Y' -

Nevermind - I got my circuits crossed on this post. :freak:

What?!! You left poor ole Keeper out of the loop? Seriously, we are awaiting approval on the 2' Jupiter 2 kit. Once that is done (should take 5 - 10 business days) the kits will be available for sale immediately. This will not be a pre-sale/pre-order. The same with the lighting circuts. They are for order now.

Thanks

Hello Guys. I didn't mean to cause any problems here. I have (I m sure many of you) , been WAITING for this stuff 30 something years. Just like we all WAITED 30 something years for a plastic kit to be produced. As far as bothering the vendor, If we had continued to ask Icon's questions about their Jupiter Two,Instead of playing it safe and WAITING, possibly some of us would not have been ripped off. That being said, I, in no way,am implying That this will happen again. Again apologies. I usally handle my business with a vendor one on one, however I didn't get a response from them(I have since gotten a reply from them), And could only get a response from them via this board. I look forward to dealing with this company.

I can't wait for the Radio controlled Chariot in the same scale as that 4 foot Jupiter 2. ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY HAVE NOT ANNOUNCED ANYTHING LIKE THAT AT ALL! LOL. Would a Cyclops in the same scale as the 4 footer be 6 foot tall?? LOL

I'm using a 10 foot boom to "fly" my 2 foot looner moddles kit. Ya think I might need a bigger boom for the 4 footer? I think we should just speculate and stuff to make the time go by faster. They'll offer them when they offer them. I like the large size ships but I have no use for the dolls..... Oh I mean 'figures'....

First off, let me apologize to everyone. We ran into a minor glitch which has set us back a few weeks concerning the 2' Jupiter 2 kit. Not to be alarmed. It has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the piece. It had to do with the availabilty of a specific part. The probelm has been resolved and in a week or so, we should have the kit up for sale on the site. Hopefully everyone has checked out www.scifimetroplois.com for the updates on the kit.
Also, I do so enjoy getting e-mails from fans and model makers but please be patience. We are working like dogs here to get these things ready before the end of the year. I will get to all your e-mails as soon as I can.
On another note, yes, we are making a radio remote controlled Chariot in 1/6th scale. Is there a possibility for it in 1/12th scale?...Anything is possible but right now we are developing the 1/6th remote controlled Chariot that should be available Spring 2005. All I can say what we shave o far, it looks BEAUTIFUL!!!
Thank you all for being patient and understanding. We are a new company and we are working non stop to bring fans some of the highest quality kits, figures, and replicas ever made. Once you receive some of our items, I'm sure you all will agree.

Yeah, delay after delay, followed by long periods incomunicado.

Not confidence inspiring at all. I fully understand and appreciate the real world getting in the way of garage kit companies' plans. But on the other side of the marketplace, as a consumer there's only so much "waiting in anticipation" one can take before you lose interest.

That threshold has definately been crossed, sorry to say.

The action figure order is in with the manufacturer, They will be here late January / early February. Once the run on the first 3 figures is in they will be retired and the next three will be up for order. The rest of the figures will come out much faster due to the fact that the first 9 figures have been approved. I expect to release 3 new figures every 3 to 4
months once the first run is out.

The part that I was waiting on for the 2ft J2 is a ball socket assembly for the footpad. The ball cup is being molded into the footpad design. I had to have it so I could get the production mold completed. The ball sockets are done and on the way. So once the mold is done they will be available. I didn't want to start taking orders without this last piece being here and
complete.

We are doing a build up of the first J2 now and will have photos posted soon. Once these two things have been taking care of I will start taking orders.

As soon as the new CNC 3axis router is here we will finish the 4ft J2 patterns so we can get those up and going. Now that all the 2ft J2 components are finalized it's just a matter of scaling up the 3d cad files and machining the patterns.

Hope this answers a few questions.....

Thanks, Norman

Pricing for the figurines is actually listed on his website here :

http://www.robotfactory.net/figures1.html

Mentioned previously an anticipated delivery date for pre-orders on these would be November , but I think I recall hearing they were resculpting a bit so it may be longer...? Uncleodies site *might* have a listing for these ...? He said he was going to but I never checked it out to see if he had or not.

Norm sent me info on the 2' & 4' J2 kits a little while back that mentions pricing too at :

http://jupiter2.freeyellow.com/synthsis/sfmrf.htm

A month ago they said they expect the missing part to be stocked and the 2' J2 would be available for immediate order & shipping. Haven't hear anything since then , don't know exactly what piece it is that they are waiting in on either.

Lost interest in this whole shebang months ago. As soon as I saw the ambitions this company had I thought, "No way are they ever going to deliver on half of what they promise."

I knew too many people who got burned by ICONS and their excuse after excuse...then going belly up after taking their customers' money (thankfully I wasn't one of them).

At least these guys don't seem to be taking pre-orders on stuff they can't deliver.

If their promises (and dreams) DO come true, more power to 'em and the folks who want this stuff...just don't hold your breath too long...

I guess it is impossible for Sci-Fi Metropolis to be brought up and not have ICONS in the same sentence. It's a bit unfair but understandable. The reason(s) I have not posted here in some time are as follows:
1) Minor setbacks upon minor setbacks tend to take time to resolve, even for the major companies.
2) Posting another "I apologize for the delay but..." tends to be tiring, even for us. I figured rathen than give another excuse, let us just fix the probelm(s) and get the kit ready for sale.
3) Even as the Jupiter 2 kit is being delayed, we are working on the other projects. The licensor, Mr. Burns, is keeping a tab and is fully aware of everything and is satisfied with our progress and resolutions.
4) Any delays now will negate any possible problems with th quality of our product. Sci-Fi Metropolis' main goal is for the customer to be satisfied with the product they purchased from us. Sometimes getting the product to that stage takes time, as it has with the Jupiter 2 kit. Mr. Sockwell's reason was given in post #238
5) Even though I haven't posted on this site in almost a month, I have however been answering any and all private e-mails sent to me. Maybe not in the same day but I do get to them. If anyone wants to e-mail me privately, I welcome any and all e-mails.

Now as far as FLYING FRETS' comments, I welcome them. Yes, as it is unfair to be comapred to ICONS, we have to use the fall of that company as an example for both the pros and cons of what that company actually did. On the other hand, I feel FLYING FRETS is only looking at the situation from one hand and is NOT being at all understanding of what it takes for a legitimate company to get up and running, espicially when it has taken on a license that has been the subject of nothing but failure and broken promises for the last six - seven years.
Flying Frets words of encouragement just keeps us on our toes. Of course he isn't alone. What Sci-Fi Metropolis has to do is simple...Just come through. When that happens, hopefully we will win the fans and collectors that feel just as Flying Frets does.
Never any hard feelings, just incentive to prove the critics wrong.

I ordered and paid for a 18" Jupiter 2 from Icons. This Jupiter 2 was done by none other than Jim Keys.
I was told of the delays, given a set of prints(which I hadn't asked for) told it would be done in spun aluminiam.

I lost $500.00 in this ordeal.

I would like a 4 foot Jupiter 2 with inteior, working landing gear, fusion core, bubble, etc. In metal if possible. Include an inscale space pod please. The price should be under $500.00.

I will wait for these to be on the market and available for immediate shipping.

I am once burned, twice shy.

I hope that the day jobs and the family prioities of the folks at SCI-FI Metropolis are not put at risk from this venture. I also wish them well in bringing these desired items to market.

I lost money from ICONS too on a Jupiter II, but with what I am seeing on the Scifimetropolis web site........... I am very encouraged. Looks like good progress and with a little patience I will eventually be able to get both a 24 in and 48 in Jupiter II replica. I've always believed in good things come to those who wait. No difference from any other of the wonderful artisians that we serious scifi modelers and collectors deal with.

No difference from any other of the wonderful artisians that we serious scifi modelers and collectors deal with.

I've made at least 100 net based transactions... EBay, amazon, private trades.

The ONLY time I've ever been ripped off was by a company taking orders for non-existant sci-fi kits.

I admire your faith in humanity but I will NEVER again pre-order a sci-fi kit or collectible from a new company. Never. If somebody has a product ready for delivery, I'll consider it. But under absolutely no circumstances will I ever fork over start up money to a new company based on photographs of prototypes. I'm not a venture capitalist.

I don't know if a 4 foot model that works reliably can be made for under a grand much less 500 bucks. I'd rather have fiberglass than metal, as the weight to strength would be better. Of course it really depends on WHAT you plan to do with it. I want to photograph mine in digital video, with everything working, and suspended by 3 wires. I really didn't like the space pod so i don't even need a door outline. Just gimme the year 1 "Derelict" version that works RELIABLY. The next question is WHERE can you put it in your house without the wife screaming about it?? The garage?

Entertainment room? Doghouse?
