View Full Version : West Olive Off-Road 2004!
John Warner 04-06-2004, 10:02 PM Well, boys and girls, unfortunately we won't be able to leave everything in the building as we had hoped. The building owner has a lease in the works with the company that moved in next door a couple of months ago.
So, the bottom line is we have to tear everything down and load it on the bus as we have in the past. Hopefully we can get lots of help this weekend, and get most all of it done. I have a few people that have volunteered to lend a hand, and we hope more will join us!
We're also looking for a location to have a banquet/get together.
If anybody has a place in mind that might work, please let me know!
Cooter 04-06-2004, 10:10 PM I dont think I can help this weekend john Ive got a bunch of friends and family comin over to tear the roof of my garage and put a new one on.

I haven't been able to access it for about two weeks now!
.
Well, the deal with the site is that they switched hosting servers. The home page is loading but during the transfer it seems they lost a bunch of the files and now it appears some stuff will not load. For you 56k users, this makes it seem like its not loading and it times out. I can access it so some of it is working. I am in the process of redoing the site as my time permits so hopefully soon the site will be back up and functioning and will have a whole new look. All ideas and suggestions for what you want to see on the site would be great, just send them to me at admin@glrcwoor.com and I will see what we can make happen.

wreckscuba 04-08-2004, 10:19 PM Well I am not geting a buggy of ebay .The more I think about it I am going to get a new one.I dont know anything about 1/8th and nitro .So I dont need the trouble of fixing a used buggy to work.I have a nuff to fig.out as it is.So what should I look for?what should I stay away from? What should I be sure to get for runing out at woor. What spare parts should I get? Thanks for any and all help  Ed
John Warner 04-08-2004, 10:42 PM Me personally I'd consider the Ofna 9.5 Violator car. (http://www.ofna.com/95-violator.html) There's plenty of Ofna's already racing at WOOR, so support shouldn't be a problem. Plus, from what I understand you can pick the RTR model up for under $500.00!!
.
John Warner 04-08-2004, 10:48 PM I also found this which may be of intrest to some of you?
Notice: OFNA Picco MAX .21 Small Block Recall ------ 3-10-2004
OFNA is conducting a recall on the first shipment of Picco .21 Small Block engines. We have discovered the backing plate is causing engine tuning issues.
Picco is working on replacing any defective backplates. OFNA will not honor warranty on Orion and Picco versions of this engine.
It is our current belief that the problem only appears with the Traxxas AutoStart System and the Traxxas one-way bearing. Otherwise if you use the pullstart version of the Maxx .21 the problem issue should not present.
If the inside of your backplate looks like this you will ned to send it in.
Pressed in rubber O-ring cannot be removed.

If the inside of your backplate looks like this then you do
not need any warranty service.
http://www.ofna.com/images/recall-backplate-good.jpg
Contact OFNA directly for return instructions at this number: 949-586-2910 x 231
Notice: Buyer Beware, E-Bay Sales
Issues concerning unauthorized OFNA products have recently been brought to our attention. Gray market kits and products bearing the OFNA name are being sold via 3rd party sources which are not official OFNA products, generally from outside the US. Also we have heard of kits being sold on E-Bay which are lacking components or are possibly stolen.
How can you tell if the kit you are about to purchase is official merchandise? Your kit will come in an OFNA box, with OFNA literature inside, but most importantly your box will carry the official OFNA factory seal. Prospective buyers should check these items before purchase. If the seal is broken, OFNA reserves the right to decline warranty, although this will be taken on a case per case basis.
John Warner 04-08-2004, 10:58 PM It might be this one that's under $500.00. Anyway, I know it's one of them!! LoL!

Ed, this is where I got my Ofna 9.5 from this year. They are out of California and their right next to Ofna so they stock everything. 9.5 runs around $400, I think that is a good starting buggy for someone.
dan-o 04-09-2004, 04:42 PM How about a Unlimited or .21 and up MT class???? anyone run these there?????
bustedparts 04-09-2004, 09:52 PM Not sure I was thinking about running that class this year but no one was interested.I am sure that there will be some maxxes and savages to punish!
fatboylosi 04-09-2004, 11:06 PM hey guys, I have been racing for about 15 years, all electric, and am now looking to break into nitro, I am working a deal right now to trade my touring car for a ofna ultra gt 1/8 buggy. just wondering if this is a good car and what I should look out for. also when are you guys going to start racing and what days? I'm from muskegon and can't wait to get racing!!!!
shawn
bustedparts 04-09-2004, 11:49 PM The ofna ultra gt is a ok buggy. It is very durable if you treat it right.I have a new hyper 7 pcr and I raced a hyper 7 pro last year.I only broke a arm and striped out a motor mount.Thats not bad for a season of racin. The gt wont handle as good as a hyper but if you can drive you shouldnt have a problem!
fatboylosi 04-10-2004, 12:15 AM well the price is right and it's my first venture into nitro. any info on race days for woor? do they run on saturday or sunday?
Mike Champ 04-10-2004, 12:57 AM well the price is right and it's my first venture into nitro. any info on race days for woor? do they run on saturday or sunday?
Shawn,
Most likely, the 8th scale race day will be sundays, like last year. Chad or John will confirm that shortly I'm sure. Just so you know, we also run electric truck (Mod or stock), so bring it on too...
You'll be fine racing the gt. OFNAs are good cars, and I will say that is a good choice for a start. Also, if it is your first time racing nitro, you will have enough to learn about engine tunning, so you don't need a high maintenance car with "team driver option parts" that requires too much tunning...
WITH ANY 8th SCALE, I'M SURE YOU'LL HAVE GOOD TIME !!!
CU this summer for a blast racing at WOOR with us...
Mike
fatboylosi 04-10-2004, 10:08 AM thanks mike!! hope to be racing soon, going to feel like a newbie again with the nitro, but it looks like a blast!!
dan-o 04-10-2004, 11:29 AM BUSTED.....I just aquired a MT and am deciding which engine to put in it.....P5 or Fantoms new .27......I will definitly bring it when I come but this looks as though it will be a very fun class to run in......
bustedparts 04-10-2004, 12:02 PM Yha I love monster truck racin.I am looking at the new traxxis revo.Looks like a nice truck!I would like to get my hands on a mbx4 and get the jt conversion for it.
bustedparts 04-10-2004, 12:03 PM As far as a motor goes I would go with the rb 28!
Dave Walton 04-10-2004, 04:28 PM I just picked up a MT and I will also bring it out so we may have a good size class. How about Tim and TJ maybe we can get them to bring theres out also.
bustedparts 04-10-2004, 04:39 PM I am going to get that new traxxis
dan-o 04-10-2004, 09:37 PM I have a Mugen XR with the JT conversion on it...got it used and can't wait to drive this beast!!!
FYI: R N L hobbies is having a gas series race this summer and the first class entry fee is free. $12 for extra classes and it is a best 4 out of 5 series. Check the board for the Thread on this series. 1/8th 1/10th and MT classes if enough show ...and they are giving away cash and prizes for all non RNL employees in this series. I AM NOT TRYING TO TAKE AWAY FROM woor, but change of scenerey is nice now and then and the added competition would be nice.
bustedparts 04-10-2004, 09:52 PM Hell I might be game for that,Well see!
John Warner 04-10-2004, 10:01 PM Dan-O............
We'll be having our own series this year as well.
ThanX!
John Warner 04-10-2004, 10:09 PM Geez, I knew I'd forget something.........
The light grey carpet that the stadium track had been using is now headed
towards the county dump never to be seen again. You guy's with your
trucks will be using the dark gray carpet that was used over on the
on-road side!
The on-road/oval guy's will get new carpeting this Fall!!

Dave Walton 04-11-2004, 02:45 AM The new traxxas truck looks nice but I am not to sure how the eletronic transmission will work. Will you be able to change the shift point or the gear ratios.I think this may be the downfall of the truck.
Cooter 04-11-2004, 11:37 AM Tower has it already listed for $479 that a sweet deal for a sweet truck(wont be in stock till june)
