View Full Version : West Olive Off-Road 2004!
Cooter 05-14-2004, 08:59 PM But on the better side I cant wait till sunday.Kinda bumbed about the top motor already havin a bad rod.I dont understand why it would go bad already other than I could have been running it TO rich .Kind of ponderious.
Hey Rich running it rich shouldnt put excess wear on the rod that would be dumping more oil in there and keeping it even more lubed up, running it to lean on the other hand would be my first suggestion or some of the very fine clay dust made it in there some how because that sunday you raced there was alot of it out there
John Warner 05-14-2004, 09:08 PM Rich,
Maybe you just had a limp rod to begin with!
Cooter 05-14-2004, 09:08 PM Rich,
Maybe you just had a limp rod to begin with!
LOL :jest:
bustedparts 05-14-2004, 09:20 PM I will assure you,No limp noodles here.I have herd that runing to too rich at higher rpm will put exsesive strain on a rod and wrist pin.My motor never had run over 185 210
Cooter 05-14-2004, 09:30 PM I will assure you,No limp noodles here.I have herd that runing to too rich at higher rpm will put exsesive strain on a rod and wrist pin.My motor never had run over 185 210
I dont know for sure, but I wouldnt rule out the clay dust possibility maybe?
I dont know every thing I was ever taught or learned about engines the more lubricant the better? :(
Cooter 05-14-2004, 09:37 PM You might be a Michigander if you use your air-conditioner and heater on the same day!!!!!!!!!
John Warner 05-14-2004, 09:40 PM You might be a Michigander if you use your air-conditioner and heater on the same day!!!!!!!!!
Ain't THAT the truth!!
cjzalsman 05-14-2004, 09:40 PM you are correct in assuming that an excessively rich condition wrecked your con rod. At high rpm thats alot of strain. I've broken a rod once in the first five minutes of break in because I didnt make sure that the needles were set right out of the box. also if you changed cooling heads, make sure you had the correct head shims.(duh) But also measure the combustion dome depth (to plug face) and the machined portion that actually fits into the sleeve. Bad crank bearings could also lead to the same result. By the way we have O'Donnel 30 in stock again.
Mike Champ 05-14-2004, 09:48 PM We are getting somewhat of a late start this summer,
after all, indoor season opens back up in October.
Which is only a total of 18 weeks away!!!!!!!!!!!
It's going to be a GREAT summer guys!!!
Don't worry, we'll have plenty of time to enjoy the sunburns from the driver stand @ WOOR... My guess is that summer is starting this WE...
What about the points series? When is it starting ?
The sooner, the better... We all know that if new racers are coming, they'll come back 'cause the track is AWESOME and the peoples over there too.
And if we start it early enough, we can have 2 or 3 round of pint series and that will help people to show up...
So let's start the official season ASAP!!!
What about next week ?
Hey Josh, where are you . still alive ? Are you racing this year or what ?
Are you guys from Kzoo coming to visit us soon, and show the local guys how to drive an 8th scale ?
CU sunday guys,
Mike
BTW, I have real breaks now. So hopefully I can try to give a hard time to the OFNA guys...
Mike Champ 05-14-2004, 09:53 PM Hey Cliff, Check your PM...
DamageIncRacing 05-15-2004, 11:52 AM I am not sure that this would work but........
IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.
AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF
OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL
COMPANIES.
THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT TO THEM DAY" AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY. (Mark your calendars and be sure to fill up the day before)
THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.
WAITING ON THIS ADMINISTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?
REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.
SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"
DamageIncRacing 05-15-2004, 11:53 AM READ THE BLACK PATCH UNDER THE US FLAG;http://us.f810.mail.yahoo.com/ym/us/ShowLetter?box=Keep%20These&MsgId=4374_467902_5054_1240_139241_0_17757_186320_ 538184573&bodyPart=2.2.2.2&YY=60462&order=down&sort=date&pos=0&view=a&head=b
This SHOULD be on the front cover of Time, Newsweek, etc.
But it won't.
Let's "put it there" by forwarding this all around the world (so to speak)!
(The flags are France, Germany, and Russia)-- in case you didn't know.
John Warner 05-15-2004, 12:16 PM Hey Damage........
your link don't work first of all, and what about tomorrow,
you wimping out again or are ya going????
.
DamageIncRacing 05-15-2004, 08:14 PM Well poo. Guess I'll have to figure out how to put a picture on here. As for racing tomorrow, all my plans are on hold until I can get Sandys car fixed. Thats why I'm doing another brake job tomorrow. On a FORD no less. I guess when your scraping for cash you take any job- LOL! And to top it all off I had to replace another brake line on my car today since it decided to go bye-bye this past wednesday as I was trying to slow down after getting off the highway. BUT- I did figure out why my EFI was giving me grief... Loose wires from the power module to the logic module was making my fuel injector not inject fuel, no gas means no go!!! :D
Cooter 05-15-2004, 10:55 PM Sorry Guys I wont be out to race this week some things have come up that doesnt allow me to make it out this week

bustedparts 05-16-2004, 06:57 PM Well I have to say it was a joy to have you guys from rnl out there today. It show how much more I have to learn. You guy did great today!I hope I will be just a bit smarter by the next time you guys come out.All in all it was a great day of racing I had a blast and for you guys that didnt make it out today you sure missed out!
Cooter 05-16-2004, 07:16 PM Yea Yea rub it in Rich, some of us had some important problems to try and solve and still dont have it solved
wreckscuba 05-16-2004, 07:55 PM What a great day of racing!! I would like to say Thankyou for all the help today Cliff:thumbsup: I was just about ready to pack it up.But after all your help I finshed every race :)
John Warner 05-16-2004, 08:03 PM Yeah I got to admit, it was quite the day of racing! Can somebody remind me of what OFNA stands for again?? From what I seen today, there wasn't one in the top five. The main was won by a Mugen, second was a Kyosho and so forth. But I have to give credit where credit is due......
Ed Lamberson (wreckscuba) made his maiden voyage with his new OFNA and finished all three heats, then finished the B main in 3rd place!! Jason Jacobzik (sp?) anyway, Boatman would have made the A main a little more interesting except the car he borrowed developed a flame out problem at the start. New track record goes to Dan Cook, but Boat was right there thruout the heats. Funny thing is this..... Chad almost didn't make the A this week!!!!
Once again, thanks to all of you that came out today, great showing by everybody!!
.

If you download the update for Windows media player (9 series), then it should work. Otherwise, Apple quick time should be able to open them.
I'll take pictures and more movies next week. So get the update guys...
