Well, the sun was out, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and the temps were pretty decent. The new track surface is awesome to say the least. NO potholes after a full days worth of racing. The oval track is looking good as well. Question is..... did the K2 kick butt?? Hummmmm....... What kind of car is it Jason Swint drives???

Thats great about the track surface. Sounds like Chad pretty much hit the nail on the head for the surface. Now, how many electrics showed up?

And Johnny boy, I may have to refund you your $20 for the truck. This oval thing you speak of is sounding very interesting.

Ok all is well at fast times racing the little Cooters machine is all fixed and running fine after the runaway act.

The new ride seems to be fine after turning the end of the pipe out with a screwdriver (thanks for the tip Chad and Rich) it worked well. Cant wait till Thursday to get some real track time on the ...

Oh, Bill..........

There were three electric trucks show up today.
We also only had eight 1/8th scale cars, one
1/10th scale nitro, and two monster trucks show up.
Blame it on the chilly weekend weather I guess.

Don't worry as I'm very positive we'll average
10+ electrics every Sunday!!

But, we did have about fifteen regular racers
visit to check the new digs out! (They'll be out next weekend)

What a BLAST today !!! Track is awesome, thanks Chad...

I couldn't wait to race the K-car, and everything I was waiting for was there (except the brakes, but that's due to the radio...)!!!
Anyway, the Wooriors team Kyosho thougt it would be nice to let some others win sometimes, so we figured out that the 1st race of the season was the one... That way we can say we weren't ready and blablablablablabla... lol
Jason did good with his Thunder Tiger EB4 anyway.
After all, the 2 K-cars got 2nd and 3rd. Chad was running his back up engine, and I was on the first try with my car... So, we'll be there Johnny, don't worry (or at least Chad will...).

Hey cliff, can you make sure you have the bladers for the Kyosho shocks available this week, I need to replace mine. And Also, clutch springs and clutch bearings. That will help me to try to setup my car to have some "K2 kick butt action"...lol

CU guys there next sunday for some FUN...

Not a problem Mike, we have all that stuff in stock now. The clutch bearings are 5x10 mm. Clutch springs should be in on wed. Thank chad for cleaning me out of the springs. I'm working on a list of "general 1/8 scale parts" as I type this. As in clutch shoes, clutch springs, clutch bells (12-15 tooth?), shock springs, Pro-line or Ofna wings, bodies and tires. I know that there are more things that we should have but I have to start somewhere. If anyone would like to give me the make and model of the car they are running it would make it much easier to get a stock going. Feel free to PM me if there is somthing you would like to see on the shelf. thanks
Cliff

Saweet another buggy to rip around the track!! ED ya better plan on using about a gallon to break it in nice. Tires ya wanna have are pro-lines new knuckles.Get a temp gage 1st..your motor should have a guide on how to break it in and make sure ya follow it closely and be patiant. The best thing to remember is make VERY small adjustments on the carb at a time and keep it cool. Once ya get it broke in try to keep it around 235 in temp and it will last a long time. I do run my first tank so ritch that I have to keep my glow igniter on the motor to keep it going, next tank I'll bring the temp up a lil bit to it ides on its own.

Congrats Ed glad to see your going to join us in the OFNA camp, the main thing you should replace on the car is the steering servo it is very under power for an 1/8th scale, Chad feels that the tire of choice is going to be proline knuckles that is what nolin and cliff and I all have on order for our OFNA'S,

As far as breakin goes you should idle at least the first tank through the car and then let it cool down and the next tank do some slow passes back and forth no more than a 1/4 throttle for that tank letting it cool down between each tank, and gradually get faster and slowly lean out the engine for a total of 5 or 6 tanks. For the first few tanks try and keep the temp around 120
After the engine is totally broke in you should try to keep the temp around 220-240

Scuba,

There are many many different ways and ideas on the BEST way to break in your engine. Like Chad said it is important to have a temp gun to monitor the temps of these engines. The $20-30 ofna gauges work good. I am completly against the idle thru a tank and run it rich for a gallon theory. I have done this.....I was racing down in Indiana at hardestys and needed to break in my new engine. (as I had an air cleaner fall off and poof went my engine) I started up the NEW engine and commenced to let it idle for its first tank. One of the kysosho sponsered drivers came up and started in on me about the idling deal.

The amount of strain put on the rod during a long idle or running it rich for a gallon method is tremendous and very hard on the bearings..in fact is a contributing factor in loosing front bearing seal.( leaking front bearing). The method that alot of the guys who get 8-9 gallons out of their engines is as follows:

The "Bess" heat cycle method...( Stephen Bess )

On inital start up it is vital to get the engine up to temps above 190-210 F not revving it but getting heat in the engine. Even if you need to wrap the head in foil tape etc.... Once the engine has gotten up to temp then shut the engine down and roll the engine over to Bottom Dead Center. let it cool to room temp...repeat this process 5-6 times or one full tank of fuel. You are then ready to start running the engine for racing. The main idea of this method is to heat treat the engine by getting the engine up to temp and letting it cool ....much less wear on the rod and other engine parts

Good Luck and I can't wait to get up there to race with you guys!!!!

Break in, shmake in.....

all I do is grip it and rip it, YEEEEHAAAAAA:devil:

really though, after a tank of gas, w/ a rich setting, is it really that

important to run another 5/8 of a gallon before you rip it?.....

how many of you really run a full gallon?

hope to see ya'll this summer sometime,

and dont forget we nitro sedan guys still owe you 1/8 scale guys a race day

see ya, mr. clean

I think Dan-O Has the correct way to break in an engine IMHO, and by the time you run a gallon a fuel through your engine the other way it will definatley be broke in. The piston will probably slide all the way through the sleeve!

Cool Tony, I forgot about that...
Maybe by that time I will have my nitro sedan running, so I can compare a car set up properly and mine... lol I have everything to learn in that field

Anyway, are you going to visit us at WOOR sometimes ?
The track is awesome !!!
Get an 8th scale and come give us hard time ! Looks like there will be a lot of competition this year...
Or just bring you electric truck and put that 6 single of yours on it. It will fly out there...

I figured out the brakes yesterday night.
:hat:
It looks like they are working fine now.
After testing everything from chrystals to model memory to module to receiver to servos, etc... everything was working fine, so I just reset the radio and re-adjust everything. It looks like it is working now. Can't wait until sunday to try it out and see how it is driving in the technical section of the track with brakes... (hopefully it will help me...)
