View Full Version : Carpet Racing in Northern Michigan
kingpin 09-05-2003, 07:44 AM Hey Scott!
It is just plain cold this morning in the middle of the mitt, so there must be snow up there in the yooper land.
Just wanted to reply so that you would know that you are not alone in cyber space.
I plan to get started racing this month in Lansing, and then in October things will be back to normal in Mt. Pleasant. I do plan on making it to the Soo a couple of times also, but with my traveling partner getting hitched, I may have to look for someone elso to split a motel room with. Hope to see you and your friends in the Soo and at least once or twice down here.
Anybody need a Legend?? Bolink may be going sour, but Kingpin's Legend Emporium is open and fully stocked.
what? I chreck in every day

That doesn't mean I won't go...... She knows that I go to the Soo every year, and doesn't have a problem with it. We were discussing my racing the other day, and she said it was fine if it was like last year. Her job will have her working some nights and weekends, lets just hope that she has to work when I want to race! LoL
Otherwise I will look like this ---> :freak:
LoL, in all honesty, she told me the other day, that if we could afford it, and I went in a group that I was "allowed" to go the 'birds. That would be fun, but I need to talk Hanson, Mel and Smitty into it first. How about you Kingpin, even if they don't run Legends, you could still setup shop and sell things. :)
Anyway....see all you guys pretty quick, anyone know when Lansing starts for sure? I have talked to Nick a couple times and keep forgetting to ask him. :(
WIGMAN 09-05-2003, 11:56 PM Well guys, the preliminary schedule is still with the big bear.
The only change schedule wise is that the Dec. 6th race will no longer exist.
Unless the Big Bear people tell me what I want to hear on Monday we may not even be racing there this season.
I am in the process of looking for a new place to hold our races right now due to some B.S. that the big bear informed me of.
So if any of you guys that read this from the Soo know of any big places we could race please let me know ASAP.
I am going to go talk to the local elementary schools and a couple of other places this week and see what I can find but if anyone else can think of something please give me a call at 635-3698.
That is my home phone #.
Just so you know I don't want to quit racing at the big bear, I really like that facility, But someone there has it in for us I guess and I'm not going to take any of their crap. The people in charge always tell me how much they love us cuz we pay our bills and pick up after ourselves and put everything back where we found it.
I'm not sure why they are wanting to screw us this year but you bet your a@# I'm going to find out.
Hopefully I can get everything worked out and we can stay there but be prepared to not start racing in Oct.
I'll let everyone know what I find out on Monday.
Later, Joel
rowle1jt 09-06-2003, 12:46 PM Good luck Wigman.....
Did you get my e-mail........???
rowle1jt 09-07-2003, 11:04 AM Hey Scott (or anyone else who has ever changed a blower motor) how hard is it to change the fan/blower for climate control in a pick up? I was driving yesterday and smelled something nasty and then my cab filled with smoke. Needless to day, I think the blower motor in my truck was an over-geared GM3....... :(
I can get one from Autozone for $40, so I don't plan on taking it anywhere, as I just put $300 into my rear brakes. Yeah, I think thats an obscene amount of money to drop on (more or less) useless drum brakes.
Anyway, I would appreciate it if you had any idea's...... if it helps, its a `94 Dakota. Thanks!
kingpin 09-07-2003, 03:39 PM Hey Rowley, jack it up and put a FORD under it

I don't care if you have to kiss butt, DO IT!!! Or better yet, call Jake or me and we will do it for you

Yeah.......there is another one. But I can't say it on this board. Lets just say that it ends in Rebuilt Dodge!
Hey Scott.....you still out there man? I'm looking for some "professional guidance". :D No George, not that "kind" of guidance....... LoL
SO George is serious about racing this year huh? Does that mean you will go to Lansing more than twice this year? :p
WIGMAN 09-08-2003, 01:09 PM Well guys looks like the Big Bear is a go.
Geezzzzz , if they wanted more money all they had to do was ask.
They were afraid we wouldn't wan't to pay more and to keep us at the same rate we were at they wanted us to move to the volleyball court which is about half the size of the basket ball court.
I basically told them if they moved us to the volleyball court we were taking our carpet and going elsewhere. Then 10 e-mails and replies later they finally told me the only way we could stay in the basketball court was to pay $75.00 each raceday, I said why the hell didn't you say that in the first place.
so all is well except we lost the oct. 25 th date also. I will see what happens now and should have the final schedule done by the end of the week.
Later, Joel
$75.00!!!!!!! Your robbing them. I figured you guys were paying more $175.00 a day for that place :freak:
I hate it when people just won't come out and ask for things.
rowle1jt 09-08-2003, 02:47 PM Awesome. You the man Joel. :)
rowle1jt 09-08-2003, 03:46 PM Some day.......some day.......
Eventually I will get a good job, and someday George can watch me go by his house in a shiny new Crownline...... :D
Jake I thought that boat would be a Mastercraft or Supra. One of those babies should pop you up on your wakeboard. hehe!!! Times getting short on ya bud. Before long we will be asking the MRS. if you can go racing. See ya on the 20th.

Inboards and v-drives are slower than a sterndrive, I would rather go 55+ with a sterndrive than 35+ with an inboard/v-drive. And get better mileage (that is still atrocious!) than the inboard, but you cannot deny the torque and corning of a true inboard. ;)
Yeah time is getting short.....less than two weeks. I'm ready....... no cold feet for me. :D I'm also ready to start running some oval...... Got the T-2 pretty much ready to go, need to mount the rcvr and speedo. And I need to buy tires, a personal trasponder and an ARCOR motor and....and....and.....
Any one got a personal Transpoder or an ARCOR motor (that isn't all jacked up) for sale?
Mel and Smitty, YGM.

rowle1jt 09-10-2003, 01:34 PM Wow Kingpin is in Mount Pleasant? There isn't even a race here today! Oh yeah, your .44 couldn't keep up with a Crownline! LoL
Thanks for the info, let us know when the dates are firmed up. :)

t3rc1 09-16-2003, 08:41 PM Pancar and touring are the most popular. They also run trucks and e-maxxes.they are run on a road course that is pretty awesome. If there is enough of a vehicle to make a class(usually 3)they will make a class.

1Metric Ton 09-18-2003, 11:03 AM Hey Jake.
1Metric Ton 09-18-2003, 11:26 AM Hey everyone got a pan car question for everyone. i will be racing pancar this winter..*scary thought i know* but i need to know what a good servo for it i can use? I currently don't own any servos...*they brake alot on me* so i will be needing one also for my touring car. let me know on any suggestions and also a price if you know it off hand. thanks again laters.
I use the futaba s3003 that's it
1Metric Ton 09-18-2003, 11:30 AM do you use a servo saver? and is that for pan car?
rowle1jt 09-18-2003, 12:35 PM Hock,
I can't bieleve you use a std. servo!
:D
Yep Standard servo. Fow don't really need those high torg servos if your car is right. Plus it only has to move two little tie-rods, Not all that linkages and stuff like a TC (offroad with slicks ) car
chuck47 09-18-2003, 02:07 PM Hey Hock when does the season start racing at the W should be soon huh.
I Think next week wednesday. To to family issues and pop warner football I can't make for a while. Check with perry for exact date Pduchow@hotmail.com
kevinm 09-18-2003, 09:43 PM OK - Here's a topic for discussion that's I think we should discuss before the carpet season starts. Last year at Mt. Pleasant, we had 3 different pan car classes: 4-cell stock, 6-cell stock, and 4-cell 19-turn. This divided the field up into what was often only 1 heat of some types. To make for better racing, should we:
A - Merge the 6-cell stock and 4-cell 19-turn classes
B - Discontinue 6-cell stock
C - Keep all 3 classes
D - Some other idea (specify)
Before you answer, consider the following stats from last year:
Total No. of Entries
4-cell stock - 35
6-cell stock - 39
4-cell 19 turn - 45
Track record
4-cell stock - 59 laps
6-cell stock - 62 laps
4-cell 19 turn - 65 laps
Average laps ("A" main winner)
4-cell stock - 55.83 laps
6-cell stock - 59.86 laps
4-cell 19 turn - 62.29 laps
Average laps (entire field)
4-cell stock - 51.66 laps
6-cell stock - 54.56 laps
4-cell 19 turn - 58.29 laps
Let the debate begin!
t3rc1 09-18-2003, 09:46 PM Good to see the old thread comming back to life again  If anyone can get a hold of crashmaster, tell him that casey from escanaba needs his address so he can send him some jack for a couple of cars  .Good to see kingpin still here and making jokes, like when he told jake and i quote,ROWLEY JACK IT UP AND PUT A FORD UNDER IT  Hope to see you guys in the Soo.
