rowle1jt 02-25-2002, 09:01 PM Joel my e-mail is jakerowley@yahoo.com, if you want my street address, e-mail me, don't wanna give it out on here.
Mel good to know that your still around. No its not a "person" that is keeping from racing, its school. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/mad.gif My "bagel cutter" as you call her (LoL) is wonderful. I have been dating her 5 and a half years, and never ONCE, has she kept me from racing, she's real cool about that. Maybe this summer she might even get one of them "sparklin'" thingies. Maybe. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/smile.gif
Jake
PS Scott, are you gonna take that from Mel??? You'd understand if my girl kept from racing right? (It's George that I don't think would understand!)
rowle1jt 02-27-2002, 11:44 AM helloooo...........hello echos back
kingpin 02-27-2002, 05:00 PM Jake. I married my bagel cutter at age 19, between college semesters. Hence the reason that I have 2 and 1/3 college years, and the reason that I became a career Fire Fighter. Now that justs leads me to say that when they are young, they require more of your time for relationship upkeep, (which I might add is worth the effort). When they get older they realize that you are not the answer to all their needs, and they acquire a much more liberal attitude toward your desire to go off with the boys. After 41 years of marriage, my "bagel cutter" doesn't mind my need to go racing. I used to tell the young men that I worked with when they asked how I got to go hunting and fishing so often, that when women get older they don't care how often you are gone, and they sometimes don't care if you come back! So, invest the 40+ years and then let us know if you get to race as often as you want. Right now, invest in her needs equally and maybe at age 61, you will still have her pic hanging on your workshop wall, as does yours truly. (clarification: my bagel cutter is on my workshop wall, not your bagel cutter.)
Remember, I am still open to a trip to race somewhere in March.
George

Jake maybe after you finish college you will read my post again and realize what I said about your bagel cutter. I never said that your little bagel cutter wouldn't let you go. George glad to know you were a firefighter maybe you can hose Jake down so he will understand what I said about his little bagel cutter and his racing.
See Ya!
t3rc1 02-27-2002, 10:59 PM Hey Guys.....How ya all doing?Hey Mel,I almost didnt get to race in GB last weekend.I run 6 laps in practice and pulled off in front of myself also saying loudly that i was comming off,The guy next to me came out of the corner full boar and hit me in the rear soooo hard that it broke the bottom plate an my 13.I could have cried.Mike Ford had some parts and we were able to make a pod out of three sepeate ones that would work for the time beiing. Not so much as i'm sorry was said but,ya got one of those people everywhere.Jake,I understand what you are going thru,Since my divorce, the sky's the limit on my racing.I cant say i enjoy beiing alone but i enjoy the freedom to race.We are all going to the Soo in march so why dont you all try to make it up there. That would be a blast,Joel has a great program going and it's a blast.I know you(jake)and Mel know about the Soo but we need to get George and some others up there too.Well i gotta go now cause i've been sick with the flu for three days and my head gets fuzzy easily(lol). You all take care,be good to the Bagel cutters, and hope to see you all in the Soo.

We have NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER Had a problem anywhere else we went. When you say PULLING OFF IN FRONT then the others are aware. We were practicing not running a heat. Those guys were going full out and for what?It was practice.I have never rearended a car like that in my life and if i did i SURELY would say something to the other guy.We did have a great time there but some of the people there have to learn two words THROTTLE CONTROL.Besides, there were omly three of us running and the other person had enough consideration to slow down.In a heat race or a main then i was fair game but not in a practice.
Scott
WIGMAN 03-02-2002, 10:44 PM Hey scott,
just to let you know our trophy race isn't until april 13th.
i'd love to have you guys here at our next race on the 16th but it won't be for the goods until april.
mel,
I keep flirting with your track record up here, today in 2 heats and the main I was on pace for it but stupidity got the better of me. In the 3rd heat I was on your 55 lap pace and about the 2 1/2 - 3 minute mark my pace started to slow due to someone hooking his battery up to the charger and forgeting to hit the start button.
Maybe next week........lol
At any rate the l3o works pretty good I guess, still scrubbing speed in the corners though, I think if I can get rid of that I might even be able to make the "A" at my trophy race.........not.
Later, Wigman
kingpin 03-05-2002, 09:58 AM Now I know that 12 inches of snow can keep you off the road, but does it have to keep you guys off the boards? This is the first time this thread hit page two. I am 61, and my driveway is 1/4 of a mile long. I had to use the snow blower on it 3 times over the two day storm. That means adding up the in and out trips, I walked behind it a total of six miles. I was able to drive to Saginaw and back on Saturday, and to West Branch and back on Sunday. So when are we going racing?
Jake, make me an offer that I can't refuse. I have never been to Grand Rapids, Traverse City or Jackson. I will hook up with you for a day trip.
Scott, I might even go to the Soo if you will meet me in the middle of the bridge http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/wink.gif
I think that both of you have traded with Tim Weber before. I just made a trade with him. This is my second time with Tim, and I am really happy with the deal. It makes me wonder how two people can come away happy from an "even trade". I got stuff that I can really use, including (you guessed it) a Legend that I will have ready to trade.
http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/biggrin.gif HAPPY DAYS http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/biggrin.gif
See you guys on the board, or should I look for you under the snow. Wish I knew how to post pics here. I have a good one of the trees bowed down over my drive.
George
rowle1jt 03-06-2002, 06:52 PM Hey guys I'm not dead. I'm on Spring Break from school this week, so the "Bagel Cutter" and I are spending the week in chicago on the "magnificent Mile" pretty nice. Well George, you mail me that pic and I will put it up, and talk to everybody soon .

t3rc1 03-06-2002, 08:59 PM Hey all.Just wanted to drop you all a line and let you all know that we are working on a race in april, around the 27 or 28.I will post more when there are further details.I do know that it will be at the Ruth Butler building at the U.P.State Fair Grounds in Escanaba MI.It will be our original track that has the 198 foot running line and it is fast and furious. The Soo is racing in april too so the month of april looks like a great racing month in UpperMichigan.Goerge,You can keep the snow,we have enough here to last a life time.Jake,Have a great time on your trip and take good care of that bagel cutter(lol).Mel,We will see you in the Soo,am working out a deal for a X15 right now so i need your brain man(lol)Joel,We will see you in the Soo and i will let you all know when our race is going to be and what the classes are.Take care all and KEEP ON RACING

There will be an oval race in Lansing on March 17. You can find more info in the on road section under Mich. racing. Scott you will like the X15. Joel when track records are set a racer needs just a little luck to go along with a good car. Jake when you get back from Chicago do we start calling you "Gangsta Jake". I was there a few years back when they put green dye in the river for St. Patricks day. I guess they do that every year. Jackson College is this Sun. See Ya's

The Lansing oval race is the 16th (saturday), with a road course race on the 17th (sunday). I don't think the X-15 will turn right very well.

Why would you want to stop in the driving line to pull off you car. That is crazy, you are now relying on others to to all of a sudden watch out because you are gong to stop. That is asking for the same problems you would have it you stopped at a green light. Yes the other drivers are suppose to watch for you but they are not expecting you to stop in the middle of the road.
Racers now have to in less than a second figure out were your car is and possibly try and see around you when you bend over to pick up the car. There are 2 straights and 4 corners, The corners of a indoor track are less than 100 feet away from you and you usually have to walk by one anyway to get to your pit. It is so much safer to run your car to the corner of the track, Well out of the normal run line to pick up your car without getting in anyone view. Yes it can still be hit there but you having done all you can to get out of there way.
To put on or take a car off the track in the straight a way at any of the tracks I've raced at in WIS,Ill,N. Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky it would cosidered very bad track manners, and if something does happen it is considered your fault. I seen drivers asked to leave some facilities for doing this.
t3rc1 03-11-2002, 11:49 AM Hey weakass. Two wordS THROTTLE CONTROL There is no reason in practice to go full out and not be aware. No matter how you try to sugar coat it that person was inconsiderate.ANYONE and i mean ANYONE who hears someone holler comming off in front would look in order not to break their own car.Like i said before THROTTLE CONTROL
Scott(t3rc1) :D
Hockrc10l3 03-11-2002, 09:41 PM I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one.
But my last thoughts on this.
Ok ok yes throttle control can be accomplished by letting up on the trigger. I'm not talking about this one instance. I will admitt I didn't see it, i was busy down stairs. I'm talking that it is not a good idea to pull your car off the track, From the straightaway at anytime, for any reason (except the car is broke and can't make it to the turn)when people are practicing. Racers are sometimes running practise races for time, searching for the proper run line, checking for gearing. Just because it is not ofically a race, racers are still pushing there cars to the limits trying to find what works in the small amount of time there is to practise. It is ok to take your car off the track but from a safe location. The straight away is not a safe location. If there was a vote taken among those people there as to wose fault it was. I guarentee you would have been the one at fault. I've been racing with most of those people for 10- to 11 years. Yes they are hardcore racers they will make a 1/10th turn on a tierod and then run a practise 4 minute race just to see the result. These people are not a-holes just hard core. A lot of the people around hear keep a spread sheet of there lap times for each race.
Well enough about people I've raced against. Dispite the problem you had I still hope you enjoyed yourself and would come back.
t3rc1 03-12-2002, 12:23 AM We had a great time and we will come back.I guess we arent as hardcore about racing as some people,to me it's a hobby,an outlet for the everyday stress, not something that just creates more stress by beiing a must win situation. You guys had a killer program and the person on the microphone did a wonderful job of MCing the race as well as keeping the ball rolling.Great first trophy race and if it happens again,we will come back.
Scott:thumbsup:
rowle1jt 03-12-2002, 12:35 PM Well I was gonna post the snow pic of George's, but this darn pc doesn't have a good image editor installed. If only I was on my Mac....... LoL. Well George how about the Soo this Saturday? It's a maybe, I dunno yet. Mel do you still have those batts for me? I need to get you the $$$. I will be at the MP race this month so if you want to bring them. Do you or Kevin know anything else about the MP race? I think you said this one was in the gym with a bigger track right?
Thanks,
Jake

WIGMAN 03-13-2002, 07:18 PM Come on up fellas.
Hey Mel, are you guys comin on up in April?
Hope to see lots of people here.
Wigman
kingpin 03-13-2002, 07:22 PM Hey Jake. I don't think they race what I race there. I was just looking at their post for the trophy race and there is no mention of legends or outlaw sprinters. Someday maybe I will grow up and race something more macho. Sunday is a loser anyway. Too full up with other things. Could have gone Saturday, or the next Saturday.
Did you check out my ebay item?
George:rolleyes:
t3rc1 03-13-2002, 07:34 PM Hey Goerge, that is a sweet looking boby on that legend. How come i didnt get one like that when i bought mine from you(lol). Wish you ran the pan so you could come to the soo and race with us all. Forgive me for the color changes but i like this new site.Just cant private message though. :( I am now getting two X15'S.I liked the 13 so much that i had to buy a 15 to see what it's all about. See what ya done now George(lol).Hope to see ya all soon and take care.
Scott(t3rc1)
rowle1jt 03-14-2002, 11:41 AM Well George, they do race stock trucks, and I thought it was Saturday not Sunday. I dunno. So you don't want to go huh, man I feel hurt. You have been pounding me for a MONTH to go race some where, I finally get the time to go race with you and you turn me down. LoL. LMK
-Jake
jakerowley@yahoo.com
Here is the pic of Georges driveway.
kingpin 03-14-2002, 08:52 PM Jake, I just found out that it is Saturday as listed in a post above,
but they don't race anything that I have. I traded the 10T that I took to Mt. Pleasant last month. So it is still a no go for me.
I checked the pic that you posted. The url shows a hobby talk attachment with an id number. Is the pic on your site with a lead from here, or is it on this site? Would like to put an occasional pic in my posts. I should take one today, just to show the mud where the snow used to be. I never have checked with my isp to see if he provides an area for posting pics:confused:
George
rowle1jt 03-14-2002, 11:40 PM Check this pic out, (at the bottome, the attachment) it is my TC3 with some killer paint laid down by Tim Weber, from here on the boards, you need a bod? Tell him I sent you, these pics do not do justice to the art he created on my bodies. The purple/teal Chrysler 300M is for display only. The Dodge Stratus while just as nice will be raced. All most too pretty to race! They both look like they just fell out of the movie "The Fast and the Furious", if you have seen it, you know what I mean.....
Hey George thats fine see if I ever ask you to go racing again! :( LoL, just kidding ya! The picture is on here, when you post at the bottom above the submit button there is a place for an attachment. The picture has to less than 30k though, I had to compress the one that you sent me, do you know how to compress a picture? You may just have to make the image smaller in size (HxW) to get it smaller if you can't figure out how to compress. Good luck.
Jake
PS If it is the last time I EVER race with you, I want you to try pan car for me, ONCE! Thats all I ask, and don't make any excuse about eyes, MP is not that big of a track..........
t3rc1 03-14-2002, 11:57 PM Nice cars Jake. The Fast and the Furious was a sweet movie.Man,you and George are busy as beavers on here lately. I wish George would run the pans and see what it's like.I know he could handle it,he drives legend doesn't he? I sure would hate to shovel your drive way George.I suppose you have a radio controlled plow in the form of a legend hey(lol)
why do i do this hey? I guess i like to monkey with things and this site gives you lots to monkey with.I hope to see you two soon .I will post the details of our race on sunday morn so be sure to check it out ok.Take care and keep the thread alive.
Scott(t3rc1)
rowle1jt 03-15-2002, 04:18 PM Scott, I am really beginging to think that you are sniffing paragon again.........
-Jake
t3rc1 03-15-2002, 06:02 PM SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.Dont tell anyone. Then we would have a whole site full of paragon sniffers.(LOL)Sure wish you and George could make the soo but if not then tell george that we are having a race the weekend of the 28 of april and we will have a legend class so you two are welcome to come and tell George that he needs a better excuse this time(lol)Take care.
Scott(t3rc1):dude:
kingpin 03-15-2002, 09:36 PM Hello all. If this works I will be so proud!!! Scott you should have been around when I sold these bodies. Jake, I like your pair from Tim, but I don't think that these two will have to take a back seat. George
P.S. Just to anticipate a question, NO there are no decals, NONE, it is all paint done by little old me.
t3rc1 03-15-2002, 10:07 PM Hey George. Those bodies are some of THE BEST i've ever seen. You have my vote for painter of the year.Maybe i can get you to do a pan car body like that for me :) You do a killer job and i hope you dont mind me stealing that pic so i can show them off when i go racing around Mich. If i could paint like that i would have a business i can assure you that,Jakes bodies are killer too but Georges have that extra something and i dont know what it is. Nice job George.Take care and tell the wife i said hi.
SCOTT(T3RC1)
rowle1jt 03-17-2002, 01:25 PM Well George, not to shabby, not shabby at all. How did you get the wood grain? Did you paint some of it by hand?
Jake
jakerowley@yahoo.com
Hockrc10l3 03-17-2002, 04:04 PM I see some info posted on race at the fairgrounds there
Can anyone e-mail me any details? Thanks :D
kingpin 03-17-2002, 08:30 PM Hi Jake. The panels don't have any wood grain. On both cars, I believe the panels were candy red edge blended with candy purple. the sedan main color is pearl purple with silver outlines for the panels and the coupe is pearl copper with red outlines for the panels. I painted these last year sometime, and sold them both very quickly. I remember sitting in the living room with my wife on the couch quilting, and me in my lazy boy cutting out and applying the masking. Believe me, the masking is the most work, but it can be a pleasurable part of the hobby, if the results are worth it. I have another of the big sedans (bolink 34 Dodge?) that I am going to try this on again, only I want to do it with the Fascolor Fasescent colors. We will see....
George:thumbsup:
Promatchracer 03-18-2002, 06:54 PM hey all :) :( :D :o ;)
rowle1jt 03-19-2002, 10:59 AM Hi Casey
George, from the small picture it looked woodgrain to me. That and it was a terrible browser that I was on. I was a on development system in the programming lab here at CMU when I looked at it. Whatever version of Unix (OLD) that they have in that lab does not like images on the net, so it was hard for me to see.
Is MP this weekend or next?
Thanks
Jake

Hey Jake Are you sure MP is March 23. I thought it was going to be March 30. The race is in the gym and everyone needs to bring their own table, chair and power cord.
A quick Hi to all you Yoopers from all of us Trolls. Hope to see ya's in April. Don't think Keith and Greg will be there cause they are talking about going to the Carpet Nationals in Akron. Later
kingpin 03-20-2002, 10:55 AM !!! Mt. Pleasant will be Mar. 30 !!!
That was the last word in February, and as Mel said, bring your own table, chair and be prepared for a longer reach to power outlets.
KINGPIN
kingpin 03-20-2002, 11:07 AM Jake, I get a kick out of the listing that goes:
Legend ...Marcy Rules...
I know it means that he has a rules list, but it should go like this:
M A R C Y RUUUUUULESSS!!!!!!!
One of these days I am going to bring a legend to the track that will kick his butt.
On second thought, I would probably be so shocked that I would kick the bucket.
See you all on the 30th.
George
rowle1jt 03-20-2002, 11:07 AM Thanks guys, I wasn't sure, I edited the above post so it is correct now, thanks! A big oval huh? Are we talking JCC/Soo size or something in between what we have now and those tracks? Finally get to drive 6cell on a big oval, CANT WAIT! George this would be great time to try out pan car......... don't you agree Mel and Scott?
Thanks for the date guys!
Jake
Anyone wanting directions or other questions, please e-mail me at: jakerowley@yahoo.com
rowle1jt 03-20-2002, 11:11 AM So George, you really like the "Marcy Rules" huh? LoL What exaclty does it mean? I've raced legend last year but I wasn't worried because:
A) I didn't win.
B) My car was BONE Stock!
It would be nice to clarify for others that might want to come and race too. Kevin maybe you can jump in and answer too. :)

kingpin 03-20-2002, 11:30 AM Marcy rules: Everything in your car must be according to the Bolink stock Legend rules. UNLESS...
You are new to the hobby and need help,
You are new to the track and profess your ignorance (this just works once).
You are young and need help,
You have a tear in your eye when you break,
You have a tear in your eye when you lose,
You have been racing Legends for 12 years, and have never beaten Kevin. (guess who)
Last but not least: If Kevin says no, you can take you tears to Jon and beg for special consideration.
The best part is that Rick and Kevin always beat the "cheaters", Oops stike that, lets just say "Cars that are rules challenged":D with their stock cars.
The Bottom Line: (well not quite);) At Mt Pleasant, Legends are for FUN, and there are usually enough to have fun with seasoned racers and more fun with us kids.
Kingpin ... Worlds oldest kid
Racing Legends means never having to say you are sorry!!
