View Full Version : Carpet Racing in Northern Michigan
Pretty bad when you get there at 10:05 and cant't pit with the guys you came with. I guess I might have to pay one of the Club members to hold me a spot. Twenty heats wow! What time did they wrap up?
If you U.P. racers come down, make sure you are there before ten. You might have to pit out of your car.
Kingpin......You DA MAN!!!!!
rowle1jt 01-27-2003, 12:07 AM Yes, it was a good time, and I agree, Kingpin is the man! LoL I don't know Mel, I left at 7:45 and they were still running stock truck mains! We ran two heats and a main, can you imagine if he would have run three heats? 112 was a new attendance record. Take away all of George's "ankle biters" and there would have been 80+ people entered..... :)
Jake
t3rc1 01-27-2003, 12:33 AM :) WOW......Sounds like KINGPIN is having his day:D Sure wish i could have been there to see that but it sounds like you all were pressed for room and time.I am definitely going to the Soo this weekend cause i want to race and see the guys again. You go George,,,,,, and keep the ledgend fires burning:lol:
Scott(t3rc1)
chuck47 01-27-2003, 11:39 AM Hey Howler how was your weekend of snowmobiling in the Great White North we got a ton on the weekend The plow just came in the yard so I havae to go and clean up after him. See you Wednesday:thumbsup:
Howler 01-27-2003, 03:25 PM Put on 150 miles on Sat. Went from Land O' to Gogebic to Hurley and back home. Now, it's time to get ready to race. I'll bring the truer on Wed night.
BJZJUICE 01-27-2003, 05:59 PM Jake, Re-Send that Pic, It did'nt go thru the first time same e-mail.
NTwigs 01-27-2003, 09:17 PM Hey Jake, you should receive your package in the next couple of days. Keith had already left by the time I got you stuff together. Sorry!!
rowle1jt 01-27-2003, 10:37 PM BJZ, I will get the pic to you as soon as I can. :)
Nick, sounds good, thanks!
chuck47 01-28-2003, 12:29 AM Sounds like you had a good time Howler don't go close to that dam on Lake Gogebic that's the bad one. I'll try to be early enough to get things done see ya:thumbsup:  ready to race:devil:
rowle1jt 01-28-2003, 07:07 PM Hock, was sitting here waiting for me when I got home. Thanks! :)
Hey all you Racers. Lansing will be holding the Michigan Carpet Oval State Champs Feb.21-22. Keep this in mind and come race with the best that Michigan has to offer. For racers wanting to stay over night hotels are within a mile of the track. Easy to get to.
rowle1jt 01-28-2003, 09:12 PM Sounds good to me! Nick did a wonderful job on picking dates, doesn't conflict with Mount Pleasant or the Soo. That means all the Yoopers can come down! Including Scott and Chuck! I guess Perry and Hock can come too..... LoL
I will soon be accepting bets to see how many laps I can beat Casey by in 4-cell stock. LoL I'm just kidding, I just want to race with you guys again. Scarily enough, I miss you guys. Russell, you can run truck, or I will find something for you to run! Maybe you can get a Legend from George's: "Rent-a-Winning-Legend". :)
Jake
kevinm 01-29-2003, 12:02 AM Never mind George's cars, I want to get one from Racknor's Rent-a-Car. 65 laps in 19 turn!
Jake - We were starting to get worried about you. No posts from you at 6:00PM. Thought maybe you had been abducted by aliens. But wait, you just said you MISSED Casey? Hmmm...... maybe the alien theory isn't so far out after all.
kevinm 01-29-2003, 12:07 AM On a more serious note, here are the results from the January race in Mt. Pleasant:

Ohh yea i would like to thank my motor sponcer Casey for the number of motors that i have used to get this far.... Now all they need to do is come out with a motor that can handle my gearing combinations to win hehehe :p Laters see Y'all this weekend for those that come up.

Promatchracer 01-29-2003, 02:22 PM Russ he isn't coming

rowle1jt 01-29-2003, 04:45 PM  LoL
Chuck, when are you gonna send more snow my way? We got 3 inches last night and i am hoping for 30 more! :D
WIGMAN 01-29-2003, 06:24 PM Well Jake, if you would quit being a #ussy and come up here you would see all the snow you could handle.
How come I didn't see your name on the Mt. Pleasant post??????
also, I thought the outlaw legends would be faster than the regular legend class, why are they slower????????
I saw a few names on there I haven't seen for a while, You guys are getting a great turn out down there, when is the Feb. Race.
Later, Joel
kingpin 01-29-2003, 08:25 PM Hi Joel,
The outlaw legends were in four minute races, not five like the stock legend.. Believe me, they were a lot faster. Evidence the number of times I broke!!
My legend had bearings, solid tie rods, a wing, a 12 double and a four cell GP 3300. For the few laps that I actually competed, I was only able to get on the throttle for a distance of 10 feet down the straight, then hope that it slowed down enough to turn, which it usually did not. Kevin and Rick had much better handling cars and they were faster. Kevins speed would have made him second in Mod truck, and Stock Pan. My hat is off to anyone who can make a legend turn at that speed.
My trouble is that when I spend time in a third class, my others tend to deteriorate.
Feb. 15 is the next race.
I hope to get to race with you in the Soo sometime soon.
George
rowle1jt 01-29-2003, 08:46 PM I don't think you detorairated, you smoked them in Legend. You told me before your main that with some good luck [read: no dumb lappers] that you had two more laps in the your car......you were right. :)
kingpin 01-29-2003, 08:57 PM Jake, speaking of "dumb lappers", did you know that I was over the wall (hose), and under the tables twice in that a main. I think that there might be two more laps in that legend.
George
Do a 3PJ search at ebay and see what you think of those.
rowle1jt 01-29-2003, 10:33 PM George, you got mail.
rowle1jt 01-29-2003, 10:35 PM George, also look at these, they are 3PJS's:

1Metric Ton 01-29-2003, 10:59 PM Hey Jake to busy to chat on Yahoo but your on here? LoL study hard guy =)
kingpin 01-29-2003, 11:27 PM New meaning for the word "Hosed"
Same as "Outta the park" or "Going Yard"
i.e. What I did to Dougie Saturday.
For those who don't dig it, It means over the wall, or hose in our case.
And of course the guy who does it to you would be a "Hoser"
I think it is time for me to get that new shirt with the words:
I Used To Be A Hack, Now I Wreck You On Purpose
rowle1jt 01-30-2003, 02:01 AM Well, I just got done playing with the 3PJ that I got off of Ebay, pretty nice radio, more comfortable and better balanced then my 3pdf. Anyone want to buy a 3pdf? LoL It took me like 5 minutes to figure out how to access some of the menu's in it! Somethings are just in dumb places on this radio, but I'll get used to it. Most of the menu's are laid out fairly well, I thought there were some functions that were poorly placed and/or hidden in places that they should not be.
I do like the fact that when I am practicing I can get lap times and not have to depend on the track director to print lap times. I like the 8 model memory, I previsouuly had only three.
Question for Mel/Kevin/Jamie/Greg or anyone that uses a J or JS: Do you set the steering up for oval so you get a different feel to the left than you do the right? EXP or something so the servo turns slow to the right and fast to the left? Just curious. Any hints/tricks for this radio? Thanks guys!
Jamie Hanson 01-30-2003, 02:30 AM jake,
First of all why are you not sleeping at 1:30 in the morn.. you have to work in the morning. Yes there are little things. The steering exp is not something I mess with much. I keep it at zero. I use to run it at a +# for 12th scale but that was it. You will hve more fun playing with teh throtle EXP... Are you going to be in Lansing on friday??? I amnot sure how many guys will be there so I may end up running stock.
rowle1jt 01-30-2003, 10:17 AM Thanks Jamie!
No I won't be in Lansing, I'm too good for Nick. LoL No, Nicks a cool guy. :) I got some things that I need to take care of this weekend. I keep putting them off so I can race. In the last three weekends I have raced 4 times, won't kill me to miss one, well maybe it will. :( Have a good time guys!
Jake
Howler 01-30-2003, 11:18 AM I just wanted to thank Chuck for trek to GB to race with us last night. Hope that you had a good time and made it home ok. I suppose you had the thoughts of those HOOTER girls to keep you awake, lol.
was sassy suzie there last night?;)
Howler 01-30-2003, 12:40 PM No, but two of them made the comment "your the guy that painted that cool HOOTERS body for us", lol. Guess I'm famous.
YES IN YOUR WORLD. WHERE THE WATER WAS CLEAR AND TASTED LIKE BEER
chuck47 01-30-2003, 01:43 PM Yes I made it home in good shape 5:30 not bad, just in time to see my wife and send her off to work. Now the Hooters were great the girls were great too:thumbsup: they have a nice way of serving the food:thumbsup: a nice warm feeling. And your right I never got tired on the way home, now I'm anxious to see the pictures your brother took, man that was great to say the least. Thanks to you and your brother Howler I had a great time. We'll have to do the same after the Cheese Land Classic, or was that the Cheese Head Classic? Oh well that part doesn't matter we'll go there anyway. Gotta get a t-shirt you know! Oh and by the way I may have only got in the B main but I was last nights over all winner :D
Howler 01-30-2003, 03:46 PM Yeah, Chuck you had a real good run there. Cheeseland, Cheesehead, Cheeser, it's all the same. A fun race with a ton of cool people to hang with. It should be a blast to say the least.
i WAS TOLD BY ALL THE 6-CELL (5 OF THEM) GUYS LAST NIGHT THEY ARE NO LONGER GOING TO RUN BY THEM SELVES. THEY FINALL ARE CONVERTING TO 4-CELL STOCK:roll:
chuck47 01-30-2003, 04:14 PM When are they going to switch, yet this year on next year?
This comming wednesday, It's the first night of the 3rd points season.

NO YOU WON'T!
Jake: Don't mess with different percentages for left & right -- the transmitter can handle it, but your brain can't. I sometimes use EXP to slow the steering down near the center, so that you don't make a road course out of the straightaway, and EXP on throttle helps ALOT in Mod Touring car, but I can't see where it would help on oval. How often are you at less than full throttle?
rowle1jt 01-30-2003, 07:51 PM Thanks Kevin. :) I have some more questions that I want to ask you, but I will wait till I see you next.
How come Jamie can't run stock? What if he wanted to run 6-cell stock? You wouldn't let him? LoL
In the town where I was born
Lived a man who sailed to sea
And he told us of his life
In the land of submarines.
So we sailed up to the sun
Till we found the sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves
In our yellow submarine.
We all live in our yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in our yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine.
And our friends are all on board
Many more of them live next door
And the band begins to play.
We all live in our yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in our yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine.
As we live a life of ease
Everyone of us has all we need
Sky of blue and sea of green
In our yellow submarine.
We all live in our yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in our yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine.
We all live in our yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in our yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
