rowle1jt 01-19-2002, 08:08 PM Yeah the die will cover the white, I think the only color that will cover the blue and the purple would be black. How much you looking to get 'fer that thar front end?
I see the snowmobilers on it (the ice), so I shouldn't to concerned. I might be big but I know that I don't way more than a snowmobile and a rider. I guess I'm just paranoid. Theres like a highway here in front of our place on eastshore (or lakeshore I never remember which one) that is probably 1/3 of the width of the river in front of our place, that many sleds have been by. I don't have a sled, my girlfriends parents have Ski-doo 500 Deluxe, nice sled and plenty fast. I wish I had one. My dad wants a couple, and I am still young enough that I could beneift from that. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/smile.gif He buys two (one isn't as much fun, its more fun to ride with someone) and then me or my mom or someone could ride the other. I really like that idea. Catch you later, hope your grandkids are ok. They should be fine. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/smile.gif

PS You coming to MP and not having a Legend for sale. I don't know what I would do, you better get one! Have you seen one of them Nitro Legends yet? I would like to see one if you ever have one.
kingpin 01-19-2002, 08:33 PM Hey, haven't you heard the old axiom:
Electric if you want to be a driver;
Gas if you want to be a mechanic.
Besides, in my 11 years racing legends, I have broken every part on them. I held the record at Bridgeport for hitting the wall the highest without an assist. With gas, I would have been making new doors. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/eek.gif
That's where I got my nickname, yelling "OH NO, NOT ANOTHER KINGPIN", as the parts flew.
If you need front end parts, I will bring my stash to MP, but be prepared to pay dearly. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/tongue.gif I just wish that Scott were coming, because I feel like I owe him something after our last trade. Maybe he can use a good 2000 pack for practice.
George
t3rc1 01-20-2002, 03:58 AM HEY ALL.WE'RE BACK.............We had an awesome time in G.R.Wish you all could have been there. We were really impressed by the facility and the smoothness that the race was run. There were 6 heats of pan car and 1 heat of trucks and 1 heat of 4 cell mod.We started at about 12:00 and we were out of there by 5:00.Now thats a well run race. The competition was fierce there. We all know who took first in the a main hey Keith. We were turning 52 laps and the A main guys were doing 60 to 61,now thats fast.Very nice bunch of people there and we hope to be going back.I believe the next one we are going to hit is the Cheese land classic. We are also going to try to make MP yet so donr give up on us yet guys.Well it's 3am and we just got in,i'm beat so i must sleep with dreams of pancars dancing in my head and the sweet aroma of Paragon after a fresh day of racing(gotta love it).Hey George. We are even steven. You owe me nothing, just holding that X13 for me was favor enough. You dont know how happy you have made this UP'er.I LOVE THE CAR.Let me know how the packs turned out for you.gotta go all so take care and keep turning left.

t3rc1 01-22-2002, 03:18 AM HEY,IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE?(Pink Floyd flashback)
Scott(t3rc1) http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/cool.gif
kingpin 01-22-2002, 09:48 AM Who is Pink Floyd???
Scott, next time you go to GR, stop by and pick me up!! http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/smile.gif
Jake. The dye worked great, even the colored front end parts came out looking almost the same as the white. It is a miracle that it worked well, what with my wife threatening my life if I made a mess with the dye in the kitchen. Just to avoid any problems, I grabbed an old pan from the garage to do the dying in, http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/biggrin.gif and then retreated to the barn. My safe haven. I put the car together and it looks like the price is going up. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/wink.gif
Now maybe I will spend some time getting my legend ready for Keven and Rick.
See you Saturday.
George
rowle1jt 01-22-2002, 11:57 AM Cool, I'm glad that it worked for you. I too am looking forward to Saturday. And the next you guys all go to GR maybe I'll go. If I'm invited that is.... http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/smile.gif

rowle1jt 01-23-2002, 06:41 PM So Scott.....Tell me. What the scoop? Are you coming to MP this weekend? And bring that other Yooper named Joel with you, sho you guys a bull ring that's fun. Maybe the Woods guys will show up again. Mel is coming, you know George will be there, and chances are bad that George won't be selling any Legends this time. I don't know what I'm gonna do with out George peddling Legends at me!

t3rc1 01-24-2002, 01:28 AM Dude,I so want to make it but i spent a splat load of cash last weekend going to G.R and getting that car from George.I love it i love it i love it.I've been fighting that L3O for two years and i finally got a car that does what i want it to.I will try everything in my power to make it but it dont look good.I could probably make it but Kevin and Jake cant so my expense sharers wouldn't be with me and that makes the trip difficult.I so would love to run that x13 on the bull ring to see how it works there. It works very well on ours so it would be close to the same setup for M.P.George not having any legends to sell is like a day without sunshine.I may have mine sold to someone here on the boards. If he dont then i keep it,simple as that.Well i wish ya all the luck in the race and i will see what i can do t omake it there. If not, tell Mel and the gang that the up er gang says hi.Thanx hey and take it easy Jake.
Scott(t3rc1) http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/cool.gif
rowle1jt 01-24-2002, 11:09 AM Hey Scott, totally understandable, there have been many 'o time when $$$ was tight for me. I love my 13 too, I was talking to Mel at the Dec race in MP and he told that a 13 will handle better on a small track like MP then a L30 will. I was thinking of selling the 13 next year and getting an L30. But not now, I think I will drive it until the wheels fall off of it now! Mel worked over the pod for me, and it handles awesome. Way better then anything else I have ever driven!
Well if you can make it that would be cool, and if you can't I'm sure you will make it before the season is out. Have you ever raced at Jackson Community College (JCC)? Let me tell you thats an oval, with out all the pits in the room we use for the MP track, you still couldn't put it in there, it is that big. It actaully has 4 corners like a super speedway, all though if driven correctly you can make it a 2 corner track. There is a nice size roadcourse in the center as well. I like that track, I think at this point it is my favorite track in MI, the soo being a close second. Well I'll let you go. Have a good one, and you, take it easy too!

rowle1jt 01-24-2002, 01:28 PM Mel, I have a question for you. I need to do a webpage for my Web Applications class and I wanted to do a Woods Racing page. I had Ed's card but of course now I can't find it. Can I get his number from you or do you know if he will be in MP this sat? Thanks, Mel. If you talk to him tell him it won't cost him a thing, I'm doing it for a class project, if he wants he can e-mail me as well.
Thanks,
Jake
jakerowley@yahoo.com
Did a search in the Oval section and got an 810-233-xxxx number is it still the same? thanks, Jake
[This message has been edited by rowle1jt (edited 01-24-2002).]
Hi Jake That should be the number. Can't say for sure that Ed will be there this Sat. Maybe we can get that 13 working even better. At this time it looks like I will be running six cell stock unless some more Busch guys show up.
Also a big Hi to all you UPers. Later
rowle1jt 01-24-2002, 08:48 PM Thanks Mel! That would be cool if we could get my car working even better. The only thing is, now my side shocks are on it. Last month I was running your extra side deltas. I think mine are pretty much warn out. Does Ed still have the side shock kits and do you know how much $$$ they are? I don't have springs either. I dunno where to get them aren't they different than the ASSC ones? I don't even know how much they would be either.
Thanks
Jake

t3rc1 01-25-2002, 02:01 AM Hey Mel and Jake. How is it going? We are going to make it as far as Traverse City this Saturday and we will race there.Need to make it a one day trip so i guess it's Traverse. We need parts like front springs and such and we cant get them around here.I am dying to try my 13 out there and if it goes as good as it does at home,i think we have a winner here(lol).Sure wish we could make it down to you guys but time limits us this time. This is a last minute thing and i have to drive. We are leaving at 6am saturday and we should get there by 12 noon hopefuly.Good luck to you all and have a great time racing.
Scott(t3rc1) http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/cool.gif
kingpin 01-25-2002, 09:49 AM The next time someone hears me complaining about my "Long Drive" from West Branch to Mt. Pleasant (70 miles), I hope they give me a swift kick in the pants. My hat is off to Scott (t3rc1) and the guys he travels with to race. I believe it is important to get the people out to race and support the tracks, because so many have gone under. Scott seems to be trying to keep several of the Michigan tracks going. I am tempted to meet them in Traverse City, but I have a commitment to Mt. Pleasant. I will be there with bells on. And Oh! Jake, I will have a Legend to sell. A deal just fell thru, so I will have one, and it will have a really kickin' black # 3 body on it.
George
rowle1jt 01-25-2002, 12:10 PM Whew! Do I feel better, it just woudln't be the same with you trying to sell me a Legend! Scott good to hear your getting out, too bad you can't make it to MP. I'm gonna try to get up to the Soo in the next couple months. Have a good one!

t3rc1 01-27-2002, 04:23 PM Well,we made it there and back in one piece.Got spanked pretty hard though. When that 13 get's and attitude it really gets one.Last thurs nite that car was so sweet and then on saturday it was like poop.Looks like i gotta tear it down again and find the gremlins.Joel came down there too and he is running very good.Dont know where it came from WIGMAN but you are freakin fast. Was good to see ya there. There was quite a few people there and we had a blast. We also learned a few motor tricks and other things from some fast guys.We are just about there but we were missing something and i think we found it.Thanks George for the kind words. You see,up here above the bridge it seems like we are 10 years behind everyone else. There are only two oval tracks here(The Soo track and ours in Escanaba, and one offroad track which is also in Escanaba. The one in Sands is no more. The property was sold and the track bulldozed. So ya see,if we want to race we have to travel but we dont mind.Look at all the cool people i have met so far,Mel,Joel,Jake ,George,Keith and Greg,Casey and the list goes on.It's great to meet new people and hear new ideas.I guess we wont see anyone till the Cheese Land Classic unless we do a last minute thing again.Hey Mel,Get a hold of Keith about the Cheese Land,In GR he was thinking about comming but didnt want to go alone, not sure if Greg would go.Come on and race.See ya all and take care.
Scott(t3rc1) http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/cool.gif
rowle1jt 01-28-2002, 06:17 PM Well another good weekend of racing in MP. After the 1 hour delay caused by the AMB system we were racing. It was fun and I didn't even break anythiing! George if your serius about going to Jackson w/ me sometime I think we could have a lot of fun. You can run legend/sprint car and I could get whipped in touring car and pan car. It would be fun. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/smile.gif
Mel thanks again for all your help. I just relized something though. Before you put your side shocks on my 13, you put your blue springs on my shocks. I still have them, sorry. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/frown.gif If you shoot me an e-mail with your mailing address I will get them to you ASAP. Sorry about that.
Tell Greg thanks for his help soldering on my car before the main, I guess that was my "stupid" for the day. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/smile.gif

Hockrc10l3 01-29-2002, 06:33 PM Just a note to let you guys know that the entries for the Cheeseland carpet challange are starting to show up. If you need a form you can print one from.http://netnet.net/~mmtek/special.html
rowle1jt 01-30-2002, 05:27 PM What happened??? http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/confused.gif Where is everyone at?............
Jake
WIGMAN 01-30-2002, 08:37 PM Just a reminder to everyone that we are racing in the soo this weekend.
I went to traverse city and raced last weekend with those guys and had a blast.
I still can't get past my 63 lap run though.
I might have been able to in the main but i got stupid and changed my motor and added acouple teeth to the pinion. Big mistake , I should have stayed where I was. Maybe next time I can get 64 or 65 laps like the big dogs down there.
Now they get to come to my turf though, we don't have none of that letting off for the corners bull, you just put the hammer down and hold on for dear life. lol
rowle1jt 02-01-2002, 12:07 PM Scott I have to hand it to you guys. The make a wish story was very good. I think I will send them an e-mail and thank them for doing this for the little guy!

rowle1jt 02-04-2002, 11:43 AM Hey Mel how was Jackson? Things worked out that I could have come, but I felt like poop! Talk to you later!
Jake
rowle1jt 02-05-2002, 10:24 AM So here I am trolling through the swap and sell and for the heck of it check out the WTB section. I see Scott is looking for a center shock for his 13, and then what is this?? Mel is selling batteries? $20 for a 6cell 2400, got any left? Like 2?
Thanks Mel,
Jake
t3rc1 02-05-2002, 10:43 PM Hey Jake.Mel might have one 2400 left but i got the other two.20$ for a 2400 pack ran by one of the fast guys,i jump on them.I got some 2000 packs from Greg Dean and they are killer packs. Those guys take care of their stuff and you can beasured that they are in good shape.I believe they all are going to 3000 HV's thats why they are selling them.Do a dela with Mel on the 2000 packs and i can bet they are better than your best pack. They dont seem to think so but when you are used to running mid level batteries and you get one of the fast guys packs you CAN feel the difference.I JUST LOVE MY X13.I didnt do worth a darn in Traverse City with it but it works soooooooo sweet at home.I can actually put the car where i want to put it.We'll have to get together with Mel and get them 13's working like they should hey.Take care Jake and i hope to see you all soon.
Scott(t3rc1) http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/cool.gif
Man I wish I was as fast as you guys think I am. I have been chasing Keith and Greg for ten years and have been lucky a couple of times. Them two are fast! On most tracks you can use a green spring on the right and a red on the left. Shim the top of the kingpin so there is no sag in the front end. Jake we did this to your front end. Shim just so you cann't see any kingpin when the car is loaded sitting on a flat surface. Also polish the kingpins to help make the springs work. We don't need them sticking. And make sure the car is level. Same with the body. Later Racers
rowle1jt 02-07-2002, 12:06 PM Mel, you are faster than me, Scott you are faster than me, Jake your not faster than anyone! LoL All joking aside, I soak up EVERY ounce of information that I can get out of you guys. I know that I need the help on pan cars!
Scott if you can get your front suspension like Mel said, try! It helped my car MUCHO! As for the make a wish people, this is the letter that I got back responding to the one that I sent.

Wow!
Maybe I should slow down for a minute and introduce myself since we've never
met. I'm the president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation of America,
headquartered in Phoenix, AZ.
Your message to us found its way to me and I was absolutely delighted to
read the thread of messages on the message board. Thank you so much for
thinking of sending it to us...otherwise we never would've known about the
joy this wish has brought. We talk a lot about the "power of a wish"--I
think you've experienced it firsthand! It's all about hope, strength and
joy--not just for the wish kids but for all of us who are fortunate enough
to help make the wishes come true, or to merely witness a wish in progress.
I think the guys racing radio control cars appreciate what it means to Brent
to have this wish come true...my hope is that maybe some of them will
"adopt" Make-A-Wish as their charity, supporting our work with their good
wishes, time and when possible, even with their charitable contributions.
We granted more than 10,000 wishes last year and should increase that number
this year--but we couldn't do it without the support of caring people across
the country. We don't want to miss a single eligible kid and that means
getting the word out that Make-A-Wish makes wishes come true for kids with
life-threatening (not necessarily terminal) wishes. Please help us spread
the word.
We've got 9 kids and their families going to the Olympics in Salt Lake--keep
an eye out for them on the news. It is going to be awesome!
Thanks again for contacting us. Best, Paula

rowle1jt 02-08-2002, 06:44 PM Scott, did you ever e-mail Make-a-Wish?
-Jake
t3rc1 02-08-2002, 08:00 PM Hey jake.I sure did and here is their reply.
Hi Scott--Thanks so much for your message. I bet it was really something when Brent's wish came true--it gave me goose bumps just reading about it.
I was so touched to read about your sister and to think about all that she must have gone through with her disease...what a gift that she far outlived what the medical experts had predicted...but what a terrible loss just the same.
We all feel very fortunate to do this work, but we don't do it alone. There are 20,000 plus volunteers across the country who are the ones who make the wishes come true--and thousands of donors who send in their $50 or $100 or whatever. What I like is that they are from all walks of life--this organization embraces the Hell's Angels and the Junior League...the auto workers and Chi Omega...teenagers and senior citizens....people everywhere help us share the power of a wish.
You have a great chapter in Michigan--I'm very proud of how hard they work to find every eligible child and then create magical, memorable experiences that are unique for each one. So if you ever find you have some extra time on your hands and want to get involved somehow...just give them a call or send along an e-mail...they welcome all the help they can get.
Thank you for your words of kindness. You made my day. All the best, Paula

RogueRacer 02-13-2002, 02:48 PM Well, since you guys have been commenting that only a few people have been posting to this thread, I decided to add one. It's not really about Northern Michigan though.
Me and a friend, Darrin, plan on heading to Green Bay for the Cheeseland race. We are pretty new to the class(es) that we will race there. I used to race buggies years ago. Last summer Darrin started a asphault oval series and got me hooked again. We raced "spec" on the oval. We moved the series indoors and ran a 12 week road course. We again ran in a 1/10th scale "spec" class.
Green Bay will be our first race moving up, so to speak. We are planning on running 1/12th scale road course and 1/10th scale, 6 cell stock. We should have decent equipment to start with, but nothing special or exotic (CRC Carpet Knives and L30's). Since we are serious rookies in these classes, we plan on getting smoked, but hopefully it will still be a great time and a good learning experience.
So, any tips or pointers for those two classes? I'm especially curious about tire compounds? What motors are they typically running? Really, anything you can tell us would be a help.
Thanks!
kingpin 02-13-2002, 04:24 PM Rogue Racer, There is a post on page six of this thread by "Patrick Hockers", that announces the Green Bay race and lists the classes. I don't know how often he checks the thread, but I would guess that he would have some good info to answer your questions. There is a web site listed for the local club, a phone number and an email address. Hope you find out what you need. kingpin
t3rc1 02-13-2002, 06:43 PM Hey ROGUERACER.We are going to run green rears, right front blue and left front green tires at Greenbay. Most are using the greenmachine 3 or the MVP'S.Some there will be running ESP motors also.I am from Upper Mich and we are going there also.Maybe i'll see ya there.I will be running 1/10 six cell pan and it will have a yellow body with red flames on it.Look me up if ya want.See ya there.
Scott(t3rc1) http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/cool.gif
RogueRacer 02-14-2002, 12:36 PM Thanks for the replies! I hadn't went that far back in the posts. I called the number and spoke with a very helpful person named Terry. He said about the same thing as Scott(t3rc1) about tires. He also told me that they are encouraging everyone to preregister.
It sounds like a good time. Hopefully I'll make it and see some of you there... and NOT be a track hazard! http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/smile.gif
Hockrc10l3 02-14-2002, 10:26 PM Hey Guys Patyrick Hockers here
You're right I only get to this page about once a week. We are hoping you guys will enjoy this race. I've been Told we have soem really nice door prizes.
The tire compounds sound right. This will be bigger track than the club is used to bu smaller than the soo or Escanaba (in the GYm)
Been busy Our transponders died and we had to find others but were ok now.
The web site hasd the instrucions to the track See ya next week
rowle1jt 02-15-2002, 11:20 AM Man it sounds like you guys are gonna have a good time! I think it would be fun to go, but its a long drive Scott, and twice as far for me. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/frown.gif Let me know how it goes.
Scott, good luck with your 13, now that you have a good car, you can't blame the car for losing! http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/smile.gif (I got a good car too, if only I could teach the idiot behind the transmitter to drive it......)

kingpin 02-20-2002, 08:57 PM Hey, you guys missed a great day at Mt. Pleasant. We had a nice crowd. 13 Legends, 8 Sprinters, and lots of everything else. I even tried out my old T in stock truck. You missed a good laugh there http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/biggrin.gif I started out 5th in the B main and finished about 3rd in the C. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/confused.gif I took several new painted bodies, and sold a Harry Gant Bandit to the first guy who saw it. I also sold my last extra Legend. I gotta find some more or I will feel naked at the next race.
By the way, the next race won't be until Mar. 30, and it looks like it will be in the gym, so bring your own table and chair, and possibly a longer power cord.
If you guys decide to go to a race between now and then, I will be anxious to go, just about anywhere. So let me know.
George
Racing legends means never having to say you're sorry.

t3rc1 02-25-2002, 03:21 AM WOW..........What a race. This was something to see.Pat,Perry and the rest of you in GreenBay,our hats off to you all. There were so many racers there and so many heats one would have thought it would be complete and total frenzy, but it went so well and so smoothly that it was a pleasure to be there. We have never seen a better run program anywhere for club racing. The corners were always ready and the racers were ready and waiting with transponders in for the next heat. The trophies were awesome and so were the door prizes.Congratulations guys on your first big event,it was DA BOMB.Jacob still cant believe he won the A-main but he deserved it.He has made it to the A many times and had yet to win it.We will definitely be back,we had a great time.
Scott(t3rc1)
rowle1jt 02-25-2002, 04:28 PM Sounds like the Cheeseland Classic went well! Thats good.
I dunno about you guys but I have been way busy. School just sucks this semester. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/frown.gif And then when you end up getting a "temporary faculty member" that is so clueless they should not be teaching, and then blames the students for a 61% average on a test that there was never any material taught for........ I tried to talk to the dean, but of course he is out for a few days..... AGH! I have a pretty solid base in electronics, I know the basics and enough to get by. Going into this guys class, I feel like an idiot. Someone actully told him that it was an "Intro to Electronics" course not a graduate course. He laughed. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/mad.gif There are days that I just want to quit school, but then as Mel puts it, I "couldn't afford sliced bagels" if I quit. LoL http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/biggrin.gif
Well back to the subject. I won't be racing for a weeks but, what is the schedule for Jackson in March? And Scott (or Joel) when is the Soo racing again?
Thanks

WIGMAN 02-25-2002, 07:01 PM Had a great time in Green Bay this weekend.
Tq'ed 6 cell pancar and had the lead for all but 2 laps. I had a terrible run in with a corner dot and ended up breaking a rear body mount and jacob was right there to take the win away, at least a yooper won the race, we had 3 of us in the "A" main. oops sorry Chuck we had 4 yoopers in the "A" main.
Hope to see alot of you guys up here on April the 13th for our trophy race.
Hey Jake, what is your adress so i can mail you a flyer?
Later , Joel
Thought I would drop in to let all the Yoopers and Trolls know that I am still lurking around.
Sounds like da Yoopers represented us well in Wisconsin. Joel, I hate that. Lead the whole race then the bottom falls out. Scott, glad to see you in the show. The X13 is a good car.
Hey Jake March 17 is Jackson and remember M P is in the gym. They say that the track will be bigger. Thats good cause I do better on larger tracks. Is it school that is keeping you from racing or have you got someone to cut your bagels for you? hehe! If you do I understand and I'm sure that George and the other guys do also. Well maybe not Scott.
Greg Smith and I are racing at Gd. Rapids this Sat. They got new Carpet. The good stuff. Well rambled enough. See ya's!
PS Scott were expecting a bunch of your Yoopers snow again. I hate that when that happens.
