the track is sort of "D" shaped, it takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it it is fast as heck.
I turned the only sub 6 second laps of the day, Mostly it was 6.1's and 6.2's in the main, I'm sure when the 3 wise men get here and you guys from wisconsin the lap times will fall to the mid 5 second range.

hopefully Jake will have some pics of the track posted soon, or whenever casey e-mails them to him.

What Jake failed to mention is that IF the 3 Wise Men and the Rotten Hanson Kid had run 6-cell, then Butch and I probably would have been fighting for the win in the B main. Or getting lapped 3 times in the "A".:p And that the only lead change in the 4-cell "A" main was when Jamie pulled over and let Keith pass him. 6-cell is STILL more fun, even if the lap count is the same.

I liked the speed of 6-cell But with the cost saving I get from 4-cell I can't go go back. Hmmmm Buy 3new sets of tire for the 8 week season, or run the one set all year (provided they don't get chuncked of the rim cracks):rolleyes:

Of course to race Legends, you have to be Kevin so you know how to make one handle or practice some satanic-voodoo cult to make the Legend Gods happy. :) I like Legends, but the class is a bit to rough for my liking. I know the cars are tough, thats what I learned to drive oval with. Hmmm maybe I should go back to Legends.... :D

Legends really was fun, I can see my self getting into the Sprinter class.... :D I don't really want to run my TC3 at MP this year, the class has grown now to almost two heats, the reason I ran it was to build it up. So, here again, I find myself looking for another class. I dunno, kinda nice only racing one class, it gives me more time to chat with friends and work on my car. :)

No "maybe" about it. Legends on 6 cells are nutzy-cuckoo. Stick with 4 cells for them, and don't allow any speed enhancing modifications. (Stronger bumpers are ok! :D Speed secrets available upon request)

For the record: I am not opposed to 4-cell stock pan car (as long as I don't have to run it :p ). I just think that the experienced, "A" main (usually sponsored) drivers should move up to a faster class that requires more skill. Whether this means 4-cell mod, 19 turn, or 6-cell, as long as they're NOT in the class that should be viewed as a budget/entry level class. This would also be less intimidating for newcomers to the hobby/sport.

Like, I've said before Kevin, I agree with you, to some extent. I like 4-cell becasue I can stretch my dollar further (important to me!) and the fact that it allows me to drive the car, instead of fighting it around the track. :)

Now for those secrects...... hopefully they will apply to Sprinters? :devil: With the Sprinters, isn't it any stock motor, spec pack, and spec tires? Anything else I need to know? What about gearing are we allowed to change it?

I totaly agree with you Kevin.I like to go fast but it gets expensive at times. I really think 4 cell is the way to go in learning the car and the setup because they are easier to drive and you dont have to worry about the first turn pileup:lol: as much.I ran 4 cell at the Soo and really enjoyed the racing much more than i thought i would.The speed is still there in a sence,but it isn't there as quick.Makes you focus more on setup than on controlling a missle:lol: I know guys like you and mel the other two fast guys and that Hanson Kid have it(control of that missle)and that is why i enjoy watching you all race in MT Pleasant so much,it's such close racing and fast.Think about it,i dont know if you know Casey(promatchracer)personally,but 4 cell has even made him a good driver:thumbsup: .He was hell on wheels with a 6 cell pancar,bouncing from board to board(ha ha)Now he is actually competitive.Ok Casey,im sorry for ripping on ya but hey,you need that once in awhile.Laters all..........P.S. I too would have run 19turn if I had owned a 19t. I am going to purchase one this week and start running that class instead of 4 cell stock. All the guys in 19t looked like they had a lot of fun and I wanted to be part of it. So yeah that is what I am going to start running. Casey. Tell me more about the DEC7th race. I want to come and have been talking to Sparks about it as well. how many heats? What time do you normally get done on sat? stuff like that.

Hey Jake. I was cleaning up that sprinter that I picked up the other day, and It seems that it is newer, or just in better shape that the one that I am driving. So--- when we race them, you will probably use my beater. Don't worry, Kevin loosened up one side of the chassis, and it was doing quite well as long as I was able to calm down and let off early enough going in. We will oil down the rears, and keep it loose so that you won't be airborne too often after the traction rolls.:lol:
Dec. 7 is a go for me. Hope you can make it, but don't put a semester of work down the tube just to visit Joel and the gorilla.

Souinds silly but I got busted one time with more people in a room than were suppose to be. Wasn't fun dealing with cops,especially trying to find a new place after midnight. Of course if we hadn't been partying after a good day of quailifing things may have been different. We were a little noisy. :hat: But since then I always list all people. Racing get expensive paying for tresspassing fines. :rolleyes:. I'm sure it would not happen again., But once your busted you get a bit paranoid.:thumbsup:

Yeah, I can understand that. It was odd at last April's trophy race, George was rowdy and nearly got us kicked out.... LoL yeah right! I think it was him and Mel that convinced me it might not be a good thing to have puzzle car drag races in the hallway when we got back, at 11PM. :D

We went to the first dome race at the Superior Dome race in Marquette,MI. Oh it must had been back in 91 or 92. College spring break was going on and the College girls were running around the hotel in all sorts of states of clothing.:devil: Guys were drinking beer and waxing ski's in the hall getting wax on the carpet. Who get's in trouble but our room for running a dyno and drag racing cars down the hall. :rolleyes:. Said we were to rowdy.

We were just a bunch of cheeseheads enjoying the at the hotel before race day. :confused:

How are the turnouts in lansing on fri night, and what classes do they run? thanks for the info.

As for Lansing, I'll leave that question to Mel, I haven't raced there, yet. :D I plan to but haven't so far. I preety sure there would be a 4-cell stock and a 4-cell 19t. I dunno, hopefully Mel will see this and give you some more input than I can. :)

Hey Frank U. Nice to see your name out and about again. How did you and Mike end up at the snowbirds warm-up race? I see Talbot just dominated 19t by what...2 or three laps. That must have been a site. As far as weekly racing....Lansing evey week. They locals there love 6 cell stock. If we take our own guys like mel, doug kieth greg and whoever else, there will be a 19t 4 cell class. Grand Rapids is always a fun track but from what I heard they have lost the current location and looking for a new one. But that is always a good time. BIG track and fast. Other than that.......Mount pleasant once a month, Traverse city every other Saturday, jackson once a month, I don;t know anything about this new track in Brighton. Maybe you know Frank, I heard Larry has a new place this winter... Is he running ANY oval or just roadcorase? I have to run though, maybe we will see you around. Tell your dad and Brother I said hello. ANd that guy Zuback too if you ever see him.

From what I hear, brighton is supposed to be an indoor banked track, sort of like scooters used to be in oh. but thats all I know about it. Sounds like it could be cool. :dude: need to find some more info about the place.

Jamie, Trophy race in the Soo on the 7th, Practice the night before, Track set-up will start at 5:30 once track is set-up we will have practice till 10:30. We will be running 3 heats and 1 main for all classes. classes are 4-cell stock pan-car, stock truck, stock touring car, novice truck.

Sat morning doors open at 8 a.m. signup at 11 racing will start at noon. we should be done racing by 5 or 5:30 unless alot more people show up than usually show up.

If you need directions let me know and I will e-mail you the directions and maybe a map if your lucky.

Most everybody is staying at the days inn, We started a tradition of meeting for breakfast at Sudabaker's which is right next to the days inn. we meet there at 7 a.m.

Hey Frank Jamie is right in where we have been racing. Lansing opens at 5pm, racing at seven. We have run four cell stock, four cell 19 turn (C1 and C2) and six cell stock. So you need to bring all you have because of this. If you race in Jackson we run six cell stock and four cell 19 turn. It has been and seems it will continue to be like this. The track in Brighton looks like they race on Fri. nights. Haven't been there yet though.

4-cell stock is what we are running, mel and some others have expressed an interest in running 19t also, if there are enough to do so we will, but that class will most likely run for ribbons as I haven't ordered trophies for that class. There needs to be at least 5 to run for trophies and you wouldn't get the trophy for a copuple weeks and I would have to mail them.

As for directions , do you have microsoft works or microsoft word.

Hi Mel.
When you get old like me, you will find that your body dictates when sleep is necessary, and when it is not. If I am up late, then you are right, I probably had a nice nap earlier, usually when I would rather be awake doing something worthwhile like catching the end of a movie that I invested and hour or more in. I have been retired for 12 years now, and I am learning to do it very well. At Mt Pleasant the other day, I told someone that the biggest difference between me and my grandkids is that they have to go to school, otherwise our lives are the same routine--- Eat, Sleep, Play.
Bet that makes you wish you were retired.

George I have been retired since March of 99. I agree about sleeping habits. I may get up at four thirty one morning and not get up till seven the next. If I get up early then a nap after lunch is a good posibility. I don't have any money but I enjoy myself more now days. To me a boring day at home is better than a good day at work was.

All this talk of retirement....and I'm not even started yet.... :eek:

Basically the same as Legends rules: keep it box-stock. Any stock motor and either a Street Spec or 1500mAh $20-or-less 6-cell battery. Gearing must be 48 pitch with an 81T spur, any size pinion you think will work (probably 17-20, depending on the motor). An aluminum left rear hub is allowed. The front wing is optional (and fragile!). The top wing is required, but the mounting of it can be changed to something more durable. The kingpin brace on the front is also allowed.
