Hear it is. This is the entry form for ROAR Reg 5 paved oval Championships for any of you Yoopers and Troll that want to come play.
http://www.roarregion5.com/index2.htm
Enter early There is a late fee.
You can join ROAR for a single event for $15.00. Was also told that the Tri-Clone as Applied for the 2003 ROAR Oval nationals for the summer of 2003 :hat:
Flatout 5 07-17-2002, 01:30 AM Where is all the racing in the UP? I didn't know you had to live up there for 7 years before you are not considered an import! Tough rules! Is that 7 years straight or 7 years total?:p
rowle1jt 07-17-2002, 10:05 AM There is winter carpet racing in the Soo. Oval and road course, they race pan car, 12th, touring car, stock truck, and E-Maxx. Joel or Casey jump in if I missed a class.
Also in Escanaba they run year round, carpet oval in the winter and off road in the summer. Scott will have much more info on this for you as I have never been over there. :(
I'm not sure on the seven year rule, I'm one of them "trolls" that has all the fance gadgets and such! LoL :D
Jake
chuck47 07-17-2002, 08:47 PM I checked with the hobbie dealer in Lake Linden and he is shut down for lack of particapation on setting up and and running races (help) one man can't do everything. As for the 7 year rule being a yooper, in the western end of the U.P. it's a lot tougher here might think of yooper ship after 15 years (might).
Hockrc10l3 07-17-2002, 10:38 PM Is that a nice shop there is lake linden? To bad about the racing I understand trying to do it all yourself?
chuck47 07-18-2002, 02:44 PM Yes he had a nice shop there and a lot of racers in off road gas around 25 to 30 racing. A good program but no one wanted to help so that's where that is now, to bad.:(
rowle1jt 07-24-2002, 02:02 PM I can't let the thread slip this far down...... 2nd page is ok, off the 2nd is not. :D
Scott you will have to tell me how your race goes this Sunday. Casey won't shut up about getting me to go! :p
Later
Jake
t3rc1 07-24-2002, 05:31 PM Sup Jake.I am not sure about this weekend. No body showed for the last one and some kids have broken the drivers stand.I dont see Kevin much since his X and i started going out:eek: I will try to get a hold of him and see if he is having racing this weekend. The floor of the drivers stand has to be repaired first.I have been busy every day looking for work and let me tell ya,it's hard to find right now.Not many Mechanic jobs here so i guess i have to go back to school and learn a new trade or move.Maybe i could move down state where they have heard of R/C Racing:lol: .I'll let ya know and Casey too, about the racing asap.Take care
Scott(t3rc1)
rowle1jt 07-24-2002, 05:37 PM Scott, not to confuse you, I won't be racing. Casey is just bugging the hell out of me to go. Oh well. I will make it to Esky sometime, really I promise. I will. Someday. :D :) :p ;)
Jake
Promatchracer 07-24-2002, 11:17 PM Yea I am bugging the heck out of ya
You need to race more with me I have a lot more stuff that needs repair. Like my new XXXNT I just busted the rear shock tower on a heck of on the rod in front of my house. Good thing I got 2 spares
Scott if you are interested in maybe moving send me a resume I know a couple of ppl that might need help in there shops. If you know how to work on Harleys than I know a guy that might need ya. He has a normal shop and also deals in Harleys too
LMK
Casey
PS LMK on the racing soon I am ready to go over there and race
t3rc1 07-26-2002, 05:10 PM Well all,it has happened. Our offroad track is closed and there will be no more racing off road in Escanaba. I never thought this would happen but the interest isn't there anymore.Looks like i'll be seeing you all in the winter months on the oval.Take care all i'll see ya all later.
Scott(t3rc1)
chuck47 07-27-2002, 05:54 PM That's to bad Scott on the track closing and you had a good track there and a few good racers also. Hopefully thingsd will look up later, who knows hey.
rowle1jt 07-30-2002, 10:24 AM Well Scott, I'm sorry. I don't know what else to say. I feel like someone died, should we have a funeral? :D You know, I wouldn't want the T3 to feel left out, maybe you should send it on down to me and I will practice with it at the next MARS so it doesn't feel so bad. I have a better idea. Go to Caseys and come down to MARS with us. You would have fun, don't worry, for you, we will MAKE room in Casey's truck! :) :) :)
It would be real cool if you came, but with the $$$ thing, I know that it can be hard. :(
Well hope things turn out all right for you.
Jake
rowle1jt 08-06-2002, 09:36 AM Mel, or others that are "stock motor educated", what is the Fantom Stock motor that was out before the MVP? If you remember I would appreciate it. :D
Thanks
Jake
t3rc1 08-06-2002, 10:59 AM Hey Jake. There was the Fantom P2K and before that if memmory serves me correctly.there was the Plain old Fantom, but that was before tha rebuildables. The one before the MVP was the Fantom P2K.
Scott(t3rc1):D
rowle1jt 08-06-2002, 12:52 PM Heres the deal, it was a Yokomo can, re-buildable not closed endbell and it was not an MVP, did not have a flat part on the can. It is a black can with a blue-ish endbell. Paradox maybe? I dunno.
Mel, I NEED YOUR HELP! Oh yeah, where on the water was the place you were at this weekend. Went up Sunday for the day and took a ride and saw a place on the East side of the river near the channel your normally on that was building a barn. It was on the end so it had a side on the main river and on the channel. There were some campers and such there so I didn't know if that was the place you were talking about. :D
Thanks guys!
Jake
t3rc1 08-06-2002, 07:54 PM You got me there Big Jake.I dont know what it could be.I have some old fantoms but they are not rebuildable. The only other one i knew of was the fantom P2K.HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM,This is interesting.:D Cant wait to find out.Take care
Scott
Might have been a motor based on the Trinity Midnight motors:confused:
t3rc1 08-07-2002, 09:23 AM Could have been a maxtec shockwave also. They had the blue endbell as i remember.:D
Scott
rowle1jt 08-07-2002, 11:34 AM I was smoking crack when I described it. It has a gray endbell.
http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/attachment.php?s=&postid=212307
Thanks, I asked BIG JIM, figuring of all people, he'll know!
Jake
LOOKS LIKE A ASSOCIATED RAGE MOTOR
rowle1jt 08-07-2002, 04:23 PM And the winner is: HOCK!
You are correct, I just wasn't describing it right yesterday. I think I was smoking something. :dude: Yeah right, if I cold afford drugs, I quite and spend it on RC!
Jake
rowle1jt 08-09-2002, 02:44 PM Mel did you ever get my e-mail about being at the river?

Jake
rowle1jt 08-15-2002, 08:20 PM George, I see your on... Anyword from Jon on carpet racing?
Jake
kingpin 08-15-2002, 10:01 PM Hi Jake. No, I have not talked to Jon since Saturday. I was in MP again this morning, to have stitches removed, but his shop was closed when I went by. I am sure that he will email us when there is news. I will be in MP again next Thursday, do you do lunch?
Still have not got the boats wet. I have two of the goblins arriving tomorrow afternoon, so I think that I will hide them. The speed boat and the tube have to come out of the barn again. :(
I talked to Dan in Bay City about the connectors in those old receivers. He said that I should try reheating the solder joints because thay may be "cold". He also suggested a lube for the connectors that cleans and helps with conductivity. I am going to try both.
If I get any news, I will post it here.
I have to go now so that I can find a towel to carry around with me this weekend. I may need to "throw it in" if the six year old twins overwhelm me.
kingpin 08-15-2002, 10:18 PM Talking about the twins got me to thinking about one of their previous visits. Almost two years ago we, (the twins and me) were playing with a little rocket booster that we have. You stomp on the air bladder and the rocket flies off the tube. I took this pic of Nicholas in mid air as he flies toward the launch pad to put the rocket in his words, "in orbit". I should add that he ran half way around the house to build up momentem for the blast. Papa was laughing so hard that he almost missed the pic. It will be one of my pics that I will always be proud of.
