In my diffs we use Niftech Rocket Rings, RC4LESS black ceramic diff balls, and Finishline diff lube. When I build a diff with new rings I polish them with 1500-2000 grit sandpaper. I will put the ring on the axle then the spur and center bearing. I use just a dab of lube in each diff ball hole and then install the balls. Put the hub and other ring on and always use a new bearing for the thrust if you rebuild your diff. Snug the diff so it is a tick loose then chuck the axle up in a drill. Hold the diff hub and spin the drill. Do this for about 30-60 seconds and then snug the diff a tick more and repeat the process. Doing this will help sling the grease out of the new thrust bearing and also spin and sling the un-needed diff lube off the balls. Once you have repeated this step several times the diff should be just about race ready. Put the axle in the car and then set the diff. The spur should not slip at all so make sure your diff is set correctly. After you are done the diff should be glass smooth and tight.

If the diff feels smooth but too thick then you used too much lube. If the diff is gritty then you need to replace the outer bearing or use more lube.

Hope this helps!

Hey Kev,

My bad I forgot you broke the .09 record with a PRS 60 tooth gas car spur. That makes 3 track records at the ARCOR Paved Oval Open Warm Up race.

Congrats to Humpty and Kevin and thanks for choosing PRS.

Hey everyone, I have'nt checked in a while but whats the status on the TC3 oval conversion? With the TC4 coming out it looks as if my antiquity just got relagated to left turns only.

TC3 Oval Chassis are coming.

Big congrats to Jody Miller for TQ and Eric thomas for the win in stock at the ARCOR Paved Open. Jody had some bad luck in the mains but had the car to beat but with Eric on his tail was able to hold on for the win in the first 2 A-mains.

Jeff "Humpty" Helms qualified and finished 2nd with Donnie Logan finishing 3rd in Open 19. Jeff had the first A-main hands down and his big race bad luck bit him again.

Charlie Yates TQ'd .09 nitro.

Big thanks to Eric Hutkey for making the trip and to Brooks Derting for the BIG HP..........................

Big congrats to all of Team PRS for an outstanding weekend and thanks for choosing PRS.

Thanks Tony for all the help at the race. The lightweight diff setup worked flawless. I was the only one that could run 6.0's at the end of the run, it definitly made a difference with the pro-light gears. Tell all the guys at PRS Thanks and keep up the good work.

See you soon at Sandhills.

Anyone from PRS.....whats with the wait on " STAMPED" spur gears that was mentioned sometime in this thread. Are you guys ever going to come up with it or is it just a come-on to keep us from going back to kimbrough? :(

JCOVALRACER.................

Send me an e-mail with the sizes you are interested in. Of coarse it is your choice to switch, but to switch because a gear is stamped? :( Until you receive your stamped spurs there is a very simple way to check your PRS spurs for tooth size.

Measure the outside diameter of the spur then multiply it by the pitch and then subtract 2.00 and this will give you the tooth size of that gear. You will need to round the decimal up or down depending on the spur. :)

Here are some examples:

1.842 (OD gear size) x 64 (pitch) = 117.888 - 2.00 = 115.888 or 116 tooth.
1.904 x 64 = 121.856 - 2.00 = 119.856 or 120 tooth
1.970 x 64 = 126.080 - 2.00 = 124.080 or 124 tooth

I hope this helps and send me an e-mail: tony@precisionracingsystems.com

TONY::::::Thanx for the reply. I'll stick with what I'm using for right now. I was wondering, for 2 spur gears~~~Pro-lite, thats supposed to weight next to nothing......shipping cost is $5.00. Is that overnight delivery by FedEx or what? :(

Oh yeah, does the cost of the stamped spur gear includes diff balls, diff rings & gear cover too ?

Retail on stamped Pro-lite spurs are $7.99 each.

JCOVALRACER................
If you were to order just 2 gears from any other main hobby dealer shipping would be $5.00-$7.00. The $5.00 shipping does include USPS Priority mail shipping and no diff balls are included. You have made such a big deal on "stamped" spurs and now you want to stick with what you have!

To the guys that were talking about the stamped gears...In the mean time just take an exacto and engrave the gear with the size. That is what I have been doing now since January when I made the switch. Takes 2 seconds and works out great.

Hey Tony u need to call ET and ask him about my 19t ride. He will tell u everything. I can;t figure out why it was so fast. It might have been the KC Racing HP in there or the SRC sticks. Hey I think it was the gears. LOL!!!! Eric says it was the chassis man but I doubt it. Thanks for the sweet gears. Later dawg!!!!
