IF U WANT QUALITY AND SERVICE CHECK THEM OUT... Tornado_Racing 04-15-2004, 07:55 PM Hey Mike, Are you running stock, 19, or Mod? If you run stock allow a little bit more rock in the gear mesh. This will help reduce friction and allow the motor breathe a bit better. If you run mod or 19 I would run the mesh a bit tighter. This will help protect the gears. If you run oval allow more rock for stock and 19. One other thing you can try is to apply a very thing coat of bushing oil. This oil on the pinion and spur will help reduce friction as well. This is something we have been playing with here. My thoughts are if there are 2 pieces rubbing, they are causing friction, why not oil them. Do not soak the gears but just a thin coat in stock my help keep some temp out of the motor. We will do some more testing to see if it really makes a difference. I know it will help with gear wear, noise, and maybe motor temp. PRS gears are quiet already and they hardly wear but, whatever we can do to pass on the little tricks that just may help out. Please let us know how your first outing goes with the PRS pinions and spurs. Mike Wilson 04-18-2004, 10:11 AM Tony, You guys have 48 pitch stuff? Lookin to go all PRS gears in everything and run 48 in the drag car. May try 64 if you think they would hold up. Keep in mind there is no diff(gear bolted to diff flange on axle) and we use a micro switch. Run a 8sgl with 6 3300's in a Super Gas car. Give me a holler with what you think. Oh yeah, Iknow this is the Oval forum but its the only PRS Thread i found. Sorry for off topic. Thanks burbs 04-18-2004, 10:53 AM tony. i did not get to try the spur in my sedan yet, but i did put on in my beater rc10... 64 pitch in a offroad car with a 8 turnmotor and 7 cells... no spur guard. i beat the heck out of the car doing everything... the gear did not fail.. it had sand and dirt in the mesh and still went on like it didnt.. i have tried many other 64 pitch gears in this car and they always failed... this one did not.. i am very impressed,. after the bashing runs i took out the gear and cleaned it up... it still looks like new... Tornado_Racing 04-18-2004, 11:26 AM Hey Mike................. We have some Drag customers and they use the 64 pitch 132 tooth Pro-lite oval gears. We also have 48 pitch pinions and spurs. The 48 pitch spurs are not pro-lites, they are the standard spur. 64 pitch pinions range from 15-57 and 48 pitch pinions range from 8-40 tooth. Drop me an e-mail or call and we can hook you up! Hey Burbs................. Thanks for the thrash testing. Humpty is really putting our gear to the test running on caps. I have looked at some of his gears and they are looking great for having rocks, sand, and "poop" run through them. I am glad you are happy as customer service is our #1 goal as well as producing a high quality product at an affordable price. You guys need to check out the "Snowbirds" issue of Car action. PRS has an add and we were mentioned in the Snowbirds article about our $100.00 bonus to the A-main winners if they were on PRS pinions and spurs. Thanks to all of the PRS Hobbyshops, Team drivers, and the local racers who have made the switch to PRS. Any other questions or comments just post them here, e-mail me, or call. We are glad to have them on board as they will be holding the ARCOR NC State race as well as the ARCOR Paved Oval Open this summer. Tornado_Racing 04-27-2004, 07:59 AM I would like to thank all of the PRS customers for their support. All of the racers, hobbyshops, on-line shops, and team guys for all of their efforts to help us get our name out there. PRS started with an e-mail from Ebay and thing just took off from there. Although pinions were being machined for Trinity for the last 10 years, the spurs are an all new design with a ton of track testing. Just to let you guys know what is in the future for PRS, we are going to start machining nitro clutch bells and spurs. We will start with 32 pitch aftermarket upgrades for the XXX-NT and RC10GT. Those same "blanks" will then have 48 pitch teeth cut for our nitro oval customers. Yes 48 pitch nitro clutchbells. We are also looking into a dual disk slipper gear for the B4/T4 and XXX series cars and trucks. Brian Kinwald and Chad Phillips have been doing some testing on these new gears. The big change over the normal gears is the center of the gear will be bearing supported. Many have problems with the center of the gear melting and the gear getting out of round. The bearing center will eliminate this problem and also allow the gear to run a little truer. Brian and Chad have also stated they feel the slipper is smoother because of the bearing. Also we are considering stocking 1/8" Silicon Nitride Ceramic diff balls. Using these diff balls and our pro-lite spurs will drop about .2 oz off the drive line when you replace the stock spur and chrome balls. These diff balls are ultra lightweight and as long as you do not loose them you just have to sand your diff ring after a rebuild. They last forever! And finally, we are in the works of an all new spur gear. This new design will be by far the "LIGHTEST" spur gear on the market. As soon as we can get them to our team guys for testing, I will post some findings and results. This gear will be a must for any driver running stock just because it will be so lightweight. In stock we all now that if you can reduce the driveline weight you pick up speed. Just ask PRS driver Eric Hutkey. He broke the track record at Sandhills after installing a pro-lite and ceramic diff balls the next run. As soon as I have more info on future PRS products, I will post it here! kevina250 04-27-2004, 12:25 PM Sounds great Tony, Look forward to the new Nitro gears.
