Thanks for the kind words. EA? Man does he seem upset.........

Mark............

It was great to finally meet you at the Birds. You are an honest straight shooter and it sucks you out qualified me but at least you were on PRS gears LOL LOL LOL. The LB is my favorite band and the Red Cap is associated with the LB and now PRS..........

The Red Cap will be attending the ARCOR Open and the Kimbrough 400.

Anyone interested in a Fitted New Era Red Cap (same cap used by Major League Baseball) with the PRS logo let me know via e-mail with your size. Not sure on Logo pricing but the hat and logo may cost $30.00. Not bad considering a Fitted Yankee Cap is about $24.00.

Also a big thanks to Hank for downloading the PRS avitar. Anyone interested in switching it is available.

I have been using PRS gears for some time now and have been happy with them. Just this past weekend, I started running super spec at BMS and was looking for bigger pinions >>>>58, 60 etc....but AAA doesn't have any. Where can I get them, if they are available. Also, how come PRS does NOT stamp the gear size number on their spur gears unlike others. It will be extremely helpful if they are marked( not that I hate counting them....I DO HATE TO COUNT, i wear glasses) Is there anything out there to help in identifying which spur gears specially if you are using gears like 108,110, 112...they so close to one another its hard to distinguish. Thanx

Tornado_Racing
03-15-2004, 03:55 PM
Jeepnny...........

If PRS would go in and "stamp" the spur sizes it would drive the cost of the gears up. At this time we want to keep the price as low as possible for a machine cut gear. What you can do is purchase a paint pen or uniball jell pen from Walmart. When you get new spurs or even on your existing ones, write the tooth size on the side of the gear. Also if you are the local "hot shoe" not having a tooth size will keep the competition guessing...................

Hutkey..............

Get yours and LT's gear order together as I will have the new CNC'd pro-lites at the ARCOR Open. These gears are even better than the prototype pro-lites you have.

Thanks for all of the kind words guys. Any other questions or comments let us know.

Anyone interested in the new Pro-lite Oval spurs call or drop an e-mail to the boyz at PRS.

These Pro-lites are in limited numbers as they are the first batches of the all new CNC'd spur gears. They are as perfectly flat and round as perfect can get.

I will post some pics as soon as I have them in hand.

Hey Bob,

Not a problem. The thanks really goes to Jeff "Humpty" Helms and his KC Racing sponsor. Because of Humpty's sponsors he always has extra stuff to help the little guys out. That is why PRS is proud to have the ARCOR driver of the year running for us.

Hey Ricky,

Bummer on the bad luck in the mains, but thanks for switching to PRS full time. lol

And a really big thanks to you and the whole Ohio bunch for keeping Humpty's slow azz out of the C-main. lol lol lol

Everybody knows how he really struggles on banked carpet.

Hey Kat,

Be nice on the eggs..........

Hey Burbs...............

What type of axle assembly are you using? Hyperdrive, KSG, IRS?

Are you using a flanged bearing to support the gear?

I am assuming you are using polished or new diff rings?

We have found that a batch of KSG axles (also released through Hyperdrive) have a raised area where the diff ring seats. The axle backplate is wider than the diff ring itself. Because of this wider plate the the gear actually hits the diff ring back plate and causes a bind.

The spurs are held to such a tight tolerance that you need to use a non-flanged bearing to support the spur gear. The flange on the bearing would bind the spur once you got it assembled.

If you are not using polished or new diff ring this would also cause a problem. The grove in the ring from the diff balls would allow the diff ring to sit closer to the side of the gear and in some cases cause the plates to rub the spur.

These have been problems we have seen in the past that would cause a problem and have the customer think the PRS gears were bad. The axle and flanged bearing were noticed at the snowbirds. I helped the guys out and fixed their problems. I have been told that if you have one of these KSG axles that Andy would swap it for you. I can not confirm this but just what I have been told.

BURBS, if you have any other questions or comments feel free to e-mail me directly and we can replace your gears free of charge. We are all about customer service so if you have a problem we will do our best to resolve this issue to your satisfaction.
