That 65 van must of took an absurd amount of time to build.

Complete Project from start to finish can be seen at

midtown thanks for the plug and kind words from everyone.
mid if you reach inside of the 65 and open the engine hatch you will find a motor inside. this is the 65 that was at fest 2001 and won best detail that year.
this vw type 2 was a fun project to do and very easy when i find the time ill do another one with opening doors and maybe an engine hatch opening at the rear.

So Gunn, how long does it take you to do that van?
The type 2,simple as it may look, obviously took some time as well.

Never seen those pics, thanks for digging them up MIDTOWN. I'm just totally amazed GUNN. Any chance of newer pixs of those two. Or any other older GUNN projects that we might of missed.

Midtown, this is the kind of material that is good to see again.
Thanks for bringing it back.
And Gunn certainly is a talented individual.
The stuff that he turns out, never ceases to amaze me.

here's an old one.
a friend of mine bought it off me for 50 bucks and had it for awhile and fell off his mantel and broke the doors off , hood, broke one roof arm and cracked the running board.
he gave it back to me and ive done some repairs. this shot is the beginning of the project. maybe some day it will rise again

the van was made from the 1/64th chuck wagon and a mb van. the rear doors were cut from a second van for the side doors

This is the only one I can find right now - I have a couple more but am unsure where they are off hand. This was the display at FEST 2002.

thank you dip...
i miss that car
it had opening doors, trunk, working 4speed, nickle clutch and break pedels,
tuck and roll real cloth on side door pannels - floor board- and roof and inside trunk, a dip stick which was removable anodized spark plug wires and last there was a key made for the ingintion switch with a alarm beeper attached to the key chain. and a techometer on the dash. yes it was a 1/64th scale racing champions car.
if you find the rest dip please post them.
i did make a copy of this one only diffrence was the working 4 speed had a real wood stick shift handle and swivel racing seats. nos bottle speakers in the rear window and painted black to white with open blower holes and removable spark plugs which is now own by addicted2164z a member here at hobbytalk....add you out there post pic's if you can. later gunn
