Because a Fantom gets power off of RPM and a 19turn at zero degree's is around the same as a Monster. That is why on a Fantom dyno you don't look at power you look at the second screen!
Brooks
what do you mean by the second screen!Should the 2nd screen be used in stock also!

The "second screen" is the time based data. I believe it is in 1/10's sec.
One thing that would be nice to see in the "spec" AKA "Super Stock" class wound be handwound arms. I am tired of buying 10 arms at a time to get a good one. I have gotten much better at picking arms, but I still shouldn't have to go through with it. I have 7 C2 arms that are terrible, and only because they were wound improperly.
I also would like to see the laydown and p-94 brushes removed.

Sorry guys that I hadn't followed up here, but I try keep all responses to the ROAR sections.
First off all on the rules as posted in Rev-Up and the rules as posted on the ROAR site. They follow what was posted from our oval committee directly to the Excomm. Excomm approved all of our rules as presented. Now...these rules are typically typically in print 2 months before oyu see them....just like most magazines.
When everything was posted, I went back to the oval committee and discussed "what everybody's reaction" was to the rules. So...we decided to keep the quads as they are readily available and no performance difference has been seen. We also decided to keep only the standard stand-up brushes (no P-94's) and to allow laydowns in 2005 only with further ExComm approval. We further clarified Mabuchi wound full stack arms. AND...we further clarified that endbells can have their brush hoods changed to standups on any ROAR approved modified can/endbell combo.
For the record the millionth time.... No manufacturer solicited a rule change, no manufacturer is the sole producer, and no one on the comittee (nor ROAR) gains from the rules. The rules are aimed at getting to a complete modified level.
Now...were we over ruled by th Excomm....no. As soon as it was noted that the 2004 rules were poseted on the ROAR site, I pulled done my copy and immediately posted an e-mail to ROAR ExComm and Region Directors that the rules as printed were not correct. Rick Wilson acknowledged my e-mail and asked for me to complete the rule clarification. So what I have been posting will be the rules.
I did ask for the opportunity to review our section rule modifications, but it did not happen. I also verfifed with Rick that the changes were being made. I was reassured, but we are not the only people making rule changes. I am not making excuses nor will I guess...but I didn' get to see the rules until as mentioned above.
The rules for 19-turn will be:
1. Can/endbell/aramature approved modified ROAR combinations. Manufacturer specific (i.e. no epic on yok and vise versa...)
2. Full stack armatures.
3. Standard stand-up brushes The approved combinations in 1 will be alloed to change to standup hoods.
4. Quads are approved for use as long as they approved in 1.
5. Specificed aramture weight.
6. Mabushi wind only
7. Hand wound, epoxy drill balanced.
8. Specified inductance range.
The rules in the 2004 rules are not correct as the final revisions weren't incoporated....there will be a formal rule clarification posted shortly.
We're trying...

Just bringing this back to the top. Wondering what the thoughts are that make up a good 19T motor after a year from the start of this thread. Have opinions changed as to which 19T is the best performer? D5, D6, TI based, KR based???? Would be real interested in seeing some Turbo Dyno numbers @5V.

Hey Roadsplat..... I know I have a personal favorite. I ended up with a quad mag and standup brushes. It would show terrible on a fantom dyno but was ballistic on the track. Geared low..

Hi Jamie,
Regular standup or P-94? Where are you setting the timing?

Ray, I tried the timming all over. I ended up running it a hair below 36 degrees and that was with standard brushes, not the p94s.....

On the dyno that is what I am finding too...puts the best overall power at around 30 - 33 degrees. I've been playing with the P-94 brushes though.
