The Jet 10-26-2003, 01:18 AM I just finished racing at RACING CITIES HOBBY in upstate NY and I have to say I was witness to the best 4 cell stock racing I've seen. Great driving, and a perfectly smooth track, with brand new carpet translated into one of the best races I've seen.
MODIFIED Was even more spectacular. 76 laps, turning 3.0's!!! It felt like 6 cell mod used to be. 25mph average on this small track is smokin'.
If you want some cool racing, every Saturday night from 6:00 till... (11:00 tonight) go to Racing city hobbies. (518) 792-7272

disruptor10 10-26-2003, 07:29 AM i will second the motion !!! 120ft drive line,7 car 4 cell stock A main...everyone one makes it through the race relatively un-scaved...what a show......the dream race and the best is yet to come...the mod guys all i can say is freakin unbeleivable !!!!
toytowne 10-26-2003, 08:33 AM are they running 19t arcor class yet?
tj
JEFF TR 10-26-2003, 10:58 AM Jet, how does the size of the track compare to madness last year? Also what about starting setup, pretty close to what we ran at madness right? roll out ect, for 4 cell mod.
harringBONE 10-26-2003, 11:00 AM tj, a couple guys talked about 19t but so far no one has even practiced with one. the stock class is like a nats event good fast guys, 7 cars within a couple seconds. mod was well, mod hey-nus, with the new rug and smoothed surface we were really able to put the power down, so much so they had to change the lap counter minimum lap time / delay!!
The Jet 10-26-2003, 11:23 AM JEFF I'm the wrong guy to ask for a setup compairson. I've never run anything but Paragon, and you can't use it there so I was chasing the setup all night. I got fairly close for the main but was probably 1/2 lap off. People tend to be tight with their "old"(standard) setups.
My car usually likes, Black RF, Green LF, and white rears, I ended up with 1 step stiffer center shock spring and 3 blacks with a white LR. Still just a tick too tight, so I'll have black all around next week.
I'd bet if you come with your standard setup, you'll be looking for some steering.

NASCR3 10-26-2003, 01:43 PM I just want to thank everyone for running so well last night. That was some of the best racing I've seen in years. 7 car stock A main was smokin' no major wrecks only very minor one coming out of 4 to the new start/finish line (on the front stretch!!!! no more starting on the back stretch oval guys) and that was it. Wade B was on an 81 lap pace early a full lap above the all time TR and finished with 79 +1 from last years old TR. Mod A was another great display of driving. Those guys were so blindingly fast it was nuts!!!!!! Fast lap of the night to John H with a 3.06 WHEW!!! Top 3 in the mod A beat the old TR of 73 laps top 2 shattered it by 3!!! Now that's haulin' the mail. Truck guys were crankin' too with a new TR by Dave L. The best part of the whole night was the whole night. Heat races were just as good as the mains. Track Records being broken with each race that followed, and I'm sure those won't stand up for long as the track gets more run time on it. For all of you who like to go fast on a SUPER SMOOTH surface this is the A ticket ride. Acording to what I've heard this track would lend itself to some great 12th scale 19t or stock racing too, if anyone's interested just show with enough guys and Ken said he'd be happy to have another class run.
Fianlly I want to thank everyone who helped get the track ready and repaired/rebuilt because without them it never would've happened. Steve M, Angelo Z, Mark L, Tom H, John O, Ken and his whole family all of whom gave up precious time from their schedules and families to make this a great place to race. We were able to get it from ripped up to race ready in only 5 days!!! Great job everyone!!!! :D
John S
RCRacer45s 10-26-2003, 01:55 PM I also ran last night at Racing City, The track was in its best shape i have ever seen it. Real insanely close 4-cell Stock racing. 3-Mains in Stock! The most in a long time not to mention how close the competition was. I can honestly say i did not know one person who did not enjoy the racing surface and that didnt enjoy it. Thanks to everyone who made the track possible which is a whole crew of guys. Special thanks To Tom,Chris H,and Ken for helping me charge when my charger died  Everyone should make every effort possible to show up at the track. :D *Justin Smith*
murr11 10-28-2003, 08:32 PM The new rail system just came in today (tuesday) and we are setting it up tonite as well as the new corners for the oval. The track should be sweet for this weekend both friday (on road) and saturday (oval).
Steve M.
disruptor10 10-29-2003, 07:46 AM Sweetness oh sweetness...i'll be there......
ovalmaster 10-29-2003, 08:40 PM Where is this track? Directions? What days do they run on? What time do they open?
thanks,
Antonio
The Jet 10-30-2003, 12:07 AM Antonio
The track is in South Glens falls NY. Exit 17N off I87. about 4 miles in shopping center. Great lighting and pit space too.
Come on down, LOL.

murr11 10-30-2003, 12:39 AM The new oval is in place and ready for saturday nite. We put in the snowbird corners (white tile) to eliminate the double hit coming of the turn. I'm going to miss that sound. ;)

disruptor10 10-30-2003, 06:51 AM WOW love that Pit Road !!!! Woooo Hooo !!!!!!!!
Todd Putnam 10-30-2003, 11:55 AM Holy Smokes...that looks awesome...
Nice job guys...
DynoMoHum 10-30-2003, 12:16 PM Looks like theres lots of space for slow guys like me to go wide in the corners and let the fast guys through... (that's good) Seems like the corners have a bigger radius the most tracks as well... I don't think I've ever raced on a short track with larg radius turns... is that accurate or is the photo deceiving?
SMROCKET 10-30-2003, 01:12 PM LOOK a million times better for tall the ALbany guys 2 tracks witin 40miles ....When will you be scheduling a BIG race [big means an advertized race like the NORTHEAST SERIES.....Looking forward to getting back up there...SRM
The Jet 10-30-2003, 04:44 PM DYNO
Nope, not decieving at all. It's a really fun track to run on, mod guys pretty much turn around the whole track  I think it's 120' runline and were doing 3.0 lap times   Don't blink, LOL.

wkbracing 11-03-2003, 03:13 PM great turn out at ken's track this week. If anyone wants to come and race with tightest fiels of oval guys, this is the place.
RCRacer45s 11-03-2003, 04:46 PM a D-Main for 4 cell stock!!! Wow what a turn out indeed. All i got to say is watch in the mirror for tony the tiger cause the NEW ADX ride is on the way! Not to mention a brand new Putnam monster*the best there is* haha im lookin to make the B :D Anyone who hasnt made the trip to racing city hobbies definatley should. Friendly atmosphere for all the racers who come. Great track and like wkb said a tight field for 4 cell stock. The b main was just as good as the a. See you guys this week!!!!
The Jet 11-03-2003, 05:14 PM Justin
Actually there was an "E" main.
After 2 rounds of qualifing the top 10 were 1 lap apart  Then Wade proceded to smash the track record and screw up the whole "tight field" thing  (JK) Anyway If you like the 4 cell stock competitiveness, it doesn't get any tougher then at Glens falls.
Try Glens falls, you won't regret it.
ovalnator 11-03-2003, 06:43 PM Ill agree that it looks like a nice track, but i dont agree with the claim to being the fastest track....Fountain raceways carpet oval is about 10 ft shorter than the snowbirds track, and the 4 cell mod guys are turning laps in the 3.6-3.8 lap range (cant remember off the top of my head) and are averaging somewhere in the vacinity of 35-40mph.
Wouldnt mind making a trip out though sometime, the track looks awesome.
The Jet 11-03-2003, 07:04 PM Well,
OK maybe not in MPH.
I guess it's like compairing Bristol to Charlotte, Bristol "FEELS" faster.

Racin'Jason 8 11-03-2003, 08:26 PM The track, shop, atmosphere and competitors in general can be summed up in one word -- AWESOME !!!! We are truly fortunate to have such a facility local to the capital district - many people in this hobby will never experience such a place --- Great job, guys!!
mightymidget 11-04-2003, 01:41 PM The new track looks great, i'll have to try to get down there, it will have to be on a weekend that were not racing,Plattsburgh is not the biggest or the fastest track in the northeast, but you won't find any place like it

pancartom 11-04-2003, 09:19 PM matt, are you racing road course at FR saturday night, or are you looking for an oval to race at?
JEFF TR 11-04-2003, 10:00 PM Bret, what winds and roll out are you running, also where did you end up with for tires?
The Jet 11-04-2003, 11:26 PM Jeff
Some guys are running 8's, and I was told with a 1.31 rollout.
I'm running 7's 227cm and around a 1.20 rollout. with 1 tab of timing and X-brushes.
Tires are another story for me. I've never run anything but paragon, so using Jack or TQ 8, had me chasing tires, but I ended up with...
Setup 1... 4 blacks (TM or TRC).
Setup 2... Magenta (TRC) fronts, pink (Jaco) rear.
Keep in mind I run a damper tube...Not shocks.
Are you going to stop by soon???

ovalnator 11-04-2003, 11:53 PM matt, are you racing road course at FR saturday night, or are you looking for an oval to race at?
Tom, Im definitly running the regional race, Ill be there friday too.
JEFF TR 11-05-2003, 08:25 AM Brett, believe i will be there this saturday. Phil and Chris may also be coming, think they will be running stock or 19 turn if there is enough of them. thanks for info Brett.
Shadow-D 11-05-2003, 12:18 PM I can't waite to run this weekend. With my new setup and the new track walls it should be a fun night.
Like everyone has said, this is (IMHO) the friendliest track I have been to. That's why I keep coming back.
As far as a big (trophy) race, I think that is a great idea. I have heard that in the past it has been difficult getting people to show up to race. With the new track I don't see why there would be a problem now. I know if there was a trophy race here I would definitely show up and race, I may not do great but it would be fun either way. I go to Madness for their (oval) trophy races and have fun. Isn't that the whole point of racing?
See you Saturday...

RCRacer45s 11-10-2003, 03:01 PM Whats this i hear the attitudes were hot n heavy this past saturday night, I missed all the excitement........
Yeaaa...Stock A-main...words were exhchanged due to a few get togethers with 2 people a couple of times. I wont say any names but overall it was a great show!
rolloutwheel 11-10-2003, 08:51 PM T4 God, you can rest assured the Wheel wasn't involved, haven't sniffed a show in years, lol.
DIRTISFORWORMS 11-10-2003, 11:04 PM Must be the lack of paragon in the air in that place now,no ones getting high on the fumes!LOL. Tc track is cool but i have major problems with the death dots! Takes some getting used to...
Tommygun43 11-11-2003, 12:03 AM Whats this i hear the attitudes were hot n heavy this past saturday night, I missed all the excitement........
Bit of an overstatement I'd say.
Racing was better than ever. Track only getting faster. You did miss
the excitement...in the racing.
wkbracing 11-11-2003, 12:45 AM I would have to agree, the track is better now than it ever has been, and the competition is close.
two 82's and the rest 81's just to make the A-main.

disruptor10 11-11-2003, 07:18 AM humm sounds like fun, rumor is the T4 god is gonna make an apperance but with a pan car.........hummmmm....everyone needs to just relax and have fun...rubbin's gonna happen everywhere we race
