Shadow-D, please don't insult those of us who prefer to turn "right" in roadcourse racing; we don't go around insulting oval racing. Both are equally challenging and fun, and one is not better than the other. Both offer REAL racing and deserve respect!!!
It's great that you enjoy your form of racing, just don't down ours!!!
Remember this; nationwide in the USA and worldwide; roadcourse rc racing is by far the more popular. So, THINK before you speak!

Tommygun43
12-14-2003, 05:30 PM
Chill out

I highly doubt roadcourse is more popular. It doesn't
matter this thread isn't for that arguement.

Shadow-D
12-14-2003, 05:34 PM
WOW MAN! I guess you can't take a little busting on. I wasn't downing anyone about that. I've raced roadcourse and it is fun. I know they are both equal.

Team Lotus

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to chill out! For far too long some of the oval crowd have displayed a superior attitude and looked down on roadcourse racing as though it is'nt REAL racing; so I and many of my fellow roadcourse racers are a little thin-skinned about the subject these days. Jokes at our expense aren't funny.
And Tommygun43, check out ALL of the rc car sites on the internet and read the magazines and travel to races outside of this immediate area and you will see that rc roadcourse onroad racing is far more popular than oval. And that's just in the USA!!! There has been much discussion on the web and in the magazines about the huge popularity of touring car racing eclipsing all other forms of onroad rc. Only offroad rc racing is as popular these days. This upstate area in which we live is one of the few exceptions where oval is perhaps more popular.
All we want is respect!
I won't go any further with this as you are right about one thing; this thread is not for this argument; I just wanted to make a point.
That is all.

welll seeing how this IS a OVAL thread in the OVAL discussion whatd'ya expect. i believe the tourings guys are the ones making all the jokes saying oval is easy u only have to turn left  . i dont hear much shots on touring except when the put tears in the carpet every nite.I have plenty of room to talk cause i ran touring and 1/12 and all the jokes were about oval and how easy it was, on another note, good turnout we had about 40 stock guys show, good run to alien and the big brown truck as well haha it was good running with all the guys in our main,

Dave - please don't call them "toys"! - It's embarassing enough when people that don't understand us call them "toys"(why don't they get it?) I don't think we'll see any kids unwrapping their Tycos this X-mas and tweaking and freezing motors just to finish hundredths of a second in front of the kid down the street - HA! LOL

Looks like the Modified guys are going to K&N Saturday, so I won't be able to race mod...19 turn sure sounds better than stock for me, I'll run it for sure.

Im looking for some criticism here...did anything seem wrong with my car at all?? Am i going to high or not running the right line or something did the car seem weird in anyway. Im putting some rear steer in it to take away the push...tommygun gave me some good ideas i was j/w what you guys think...i know im under-horsepowered i have no clue why all motors are junk and are pulling 7 amps max on the turbo so im stumped there too... if anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated,
Justin Smith

First thing Congrats RP on a great race and Little RP did a great job as well.
Second as for you Justin, First thing we need to know is what car is yours? Next thing is what type of car are you using (Associated LSO, LSS, L2O, L3O or L4O, Hyper Drive, ADX or what)?
IMO you should stay away from using rear steer until you know the car and how to set it up.

Your motor is an easier situation. When is the last time you rebuilt your motor i.e. cut the com and replace the brushes? I like to use the Reedy 767 brushes. Ideally you want the motor to pull at least 10 amps @ 2 volts on a Trinity Monster motor.

I hope this helps some.

RCRacer45s

I have ADX II Chassis. I rebuild the motor i.e. cut the comm and replace the brushes after after every run or two and always break in the motor with speed juice and my turbo 35. I just started using the Reedys and thats when my HP problem started... My car pushes bad in the corner too. Just so you know how bad my motor situation is my best motor is the one harrington threw against the ground...I have 5 motors and none are over a few weeks old. Thanks for the help.

FASTALJR
01-13-2004, 02:31 PM
I tried my backup car with a wing, couldnt get it to turn into the corner right. I~d say take the wing off. That will prolly clear that up. As for the 767`s, they are a very good brush.

FastAl, I ran in the main with the wing off and it loosened the car up but it just wasnt stable in the corners any more it felt kinda darty. SMRocket, i think you might be on to something before i never had a horsepower problem i was using someone else lathe but lately he hasnt been there so i used my friends and thats when all this started....Maybe you could help me out with a set up you have ran ADX's before i will send u a PM,

TIRES, TIRES, TIRES!!! You really need to be up on your tire program if you want to compete with that caliber of drivers.
All tires are NOT created equally, for instance you can have 10 blue front's with durometer readings from 45 to 55...You need to know exactly what tires are on your car.
I'll cut your com's and do the tire thing for ya next time I'm there, maybe Saturday...Not sure though.

The runline is just shy of 120' I believe.

For tires I ran, black RF, green LF, and whites on the rear.

You guys are planning on coming NEXT week, right??? Not this Saturday.

ARCOR are legal, but C2's run just fine, in fact I loaned my C2 to a friend and he had more rip than I did with my ARCOR

I'll be there on the 24th and then the next week on Sunday for the series race.

Racing starts at 6PM Sign-ups close around 5pm ish.
Your best bet is to get there early say Noon or 1pm that way you have enough time to setup charge and practice. Doors open at 10am

We run 3 Heats and a Main for each class.

Please : SATURDAY, JAN 31 Is NOT The Adirondack Carpet Oval Challenge as posted above. The Carpet Oval Challenge will be scheduled sometime in March.
Saturday the 31st is race #3 in the 8 race/4 track point series and will be run as part of our regular Saturday night weekly program. January 24-25 is the Winter Warmup(Snowbird Warmup) trophy race as described by Murr11 in this post http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=73167
Hope this clears up any confusion.
