BFK click on the photo you want to delete and then go down the page. It sez delete, check the box and click on submit. It should work. Looks like you can move photos too. :)

Seems I'm the first to have a problem with the photo gallery. Or, perhaps its a Bill Gates thing. I cannot use Netscape to view the photos in the gallery,,, it works fine on other areas of the site, However, Internet explorer does work.

It displays fine for me in Netscape 7.1

I finally got a digital camcorder that can take beatiful stills. Problem is, when the pics are put onto the PC, the file size is too big (ave. 880kb). Is there any way through windows xp of re-sizing these, or do I have to get some special software? Maybe it would just be easier to take regular pics and scan them in? I know I can set the size of the file with my scanner, however it effects the graininess of the pics. What do you suggest.

Looking forward to finally getting to share some of my work,
Wayne

There are a number free graphic editors that will allow you to resize the photo and compress it when resaving it. I would reduce the size to about 800px X 600px and then save it at 75% compression.

One of the easy to use ones is located at http://www.irfanview.com

One of the ones with more features is at

I'm having problems viewing almost all of the photos. Text is fine, just no pics. Any suggestions?

hankster

I have not had any reports of that. What operating system and browser are you using? What is showing up where the pictures should be? Just blank or a X or????

Hi Hank,

I'm using Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by AOL. I'm seeing the red X. I've read on other sites that AOL causes problems, do you think that might be happening here?

Thanks
Bill

hankster
10-25-2003, 11:31 AM
That could be the problem. Try this: Once you dial up and log into AOL, minimize the AOL window and start Internet Explorer by clicking the IE icon on your desktop. This will launch IE that isn't built into AOL. See if they show up then.

In most cases, using the standalone IE is better then using the one built into AOL. Let me know if that works.

Hi Hank,
I use a cable hook up, windows 98 and internet explorer and can view very few members pics in the photo album, the text is there and the pic is just a white box with red X for the majority of the pics...there are a few I can see.
Is there anything I can check or do?
thanks

I hadn't heard of that before. What version of IE are you using?

Can you "right click" on one of the missing pics and then pick the "properties" option and let me know what the URL to the pics is.

Hi Hank,
I think I have internet explorer 6.0,
through the entire album I can only see 6 peoples pics,

jage1966
KennyKoas
Num11blade
Promatchracer

here's an URL of one I can't see

hmm,the URL I typed in turned into a link

hankster
11-10-2003, 07:12 PM
If you click the link in your reply does it show up? What ISP are you using? My guess is your ISP is caching pages and preventing them from showing up for some reason.

triple20
11-10-2003, 07:53 PM
That link takes me to the photo album gallery,

and my ISP is Comcast.

thanks

hankster

That link ( http://www.hobbytalk.com/photos/data/511/2563Fordcowboy_Mustang-thumb.JPG ) should open a new window and display the picture. You mean it doesn't do that?

triple20
11-11-2003, 06:24 AM
No,that link does not display the pic, that link takes me to the photo album gallery.
thanks

hankster
11-11-2003, 09:56 AM
Wow.... not sure what is happening. That is a link directly to the picture so it should display the picture. I have no idea why it is loading a page instead of the picture. When you click on the link and the page displays, what is the URL in the browser address bar?

triple20
11-11-2003, 08:19 PM

here's the url from the address browser when I follow that link to the pic.

thanks and sorry to be a pain :)

I have a 4x6 photo i would like to post.how do i do it?

RCMits
06-05-2007, 05:37 PM
you first would have to get it on to your computer, via a scanner, or.. if someone can scan it for you etc.. once you have it in "digital" format, there are different ways you can get it in a post. you can upload it to this site here at hobbytalk, but it has to be within a certain size... or you can upload to 3rd party sites like flickr, photobucket etc... and go from there. hope that helps a little..... its a start.

hankster
06-05-2007, 05:38 PM
Or it can be uploaded to your HobbyTalk Photo Album.

RCMits
06-05-2007, 08:01 PM
nod, i had mentioned to upload it here on the hobbytalk site....

but there is a size limit of 2000k, and most people who scan images, usually "accidently" scan them in at a high DPI, causing the file size to be at least 15mb's + because they dont adjust the scanning software...

we shall see =)

The earlier instructions on how to delete a photo from an album don't seem to work any more (no Delete button). Has this process changes with the recent updates?

Jim

hankster
02-06-2008, 02:26 PM
The process is a bit different (link in different area). If you look below the picture you will see "Additional Info" with a bunch of icons. If you mouse over the icons you will see one on the right that says Delete.

RCMits
02-06-2008, 07:10 PM
go to the edit icon(2nd to the last on right), then within there, you have a "delete" option. tada.

You'll see in the edit of your image:

If you want to delete this image completely, check this box (CAREFUL - once it's gone it's gone)

then click submit.

Thanks Mits (woof). Since I'm an admin I see a bunch of options (icons) there that no one else sees so it's hard for me to tell just which one members would see..... for me it's the 4th one over.

Hi,
I've gotten my photos resized and uploaded to my HobbyTalk photo album.
How do I add the photo or photos to one of my posts in a thread?

thanks

hankster
01-03-2009, 06:41 PM
Below the photo you will see some code for Linked Thumbnail. To the right of that is a picture/link icon. Click that and you will see the Direct Link URL. Copy that into your post by clicking the Picture icon (Insert Image) above where you type in your post.

Deleting photos.

Is there a less cumbersome way to delete photos for your album? I would like to delete several at a time. Is it possible?

hankster
03-16-2009, 12:07 AM
At this time you have to delete one at a time.

Here is a link to a tutorial I put together on another forum. On how to post pictures through a picture hosting site.

I cover some of the basics, posting pictures you have on your computer, multiple large photos to Craigslist, photos from the web and how to print, post and mark up a web page you are viewing.

http://www.diychatroom.com/f98/how-post-pictures-50857/

I have no affiliation with the above site other than being a member.
