After skipping a couple weeks at the famed Trackside carpet oval, Friday night it was time once again to go racing!!!
The car count for tonights racing was a little light due to the Wisconsin Oval Championship race on Saturday in West Bend. Not to say the racing action was going to be anything other than intense!
Paul "Hurricane" Schwanbeck & Neil Hicks made an appearance and both graced us in the stock class tonight, along with Hays Reeling Jr. Due the the light car count no 19T was run this evening.
Qualifying for stock was as tight as Bruce guards his blue pill container! "The Dude" once again grace the top of the charts with a 47-lap run followed Jeff "Lefthander" Fritsche, Hay Reeling Jr., Paul "Hurricane" Schwanbeck, & Hays "Dudette" Reeling Sr. all with 46-laps, Brad "Mr. Dirt Oval" Ferks, Neil Hicks with 45-laps, Dick Hooper & Tim Lingen with 44-laps, and Mike Simkins with 43-laps.
I want to also congratulate Jeff Fritsche on his 46-lap 4:00.59 run. It was his personal best run at Trackside. WAY TO GO JEFF!
Prior to the A-main, Scotty announced we would be running all 10-cars in the big show. This surprised me somewhat, but I was ready for it. Scotty also needed to make it very clear to Hays Reeling Sr. why we were doing this................and I would like to quote Scotty's comment to Hays: "We are not here to go bowling, we're here to race"
With the field set and ready to rock, the tone sounds and the cars come alive! Barreling into turn #1 The Dude and Fritsche make contact allowing Schwanbeck the lead with The Dude settling into 2nd & Fritsche 3rd. The Dude started to pressure Paul, and Fritsche had the Reeling clan on his heels, I'm sure fearing the "Malachi Crunch"! Meanwhile up front The Dude and Paul were putting some distance on the rest of the field, not much, but some. As the duo worked traffic The Dude siezed the moment down the backstretch and took the lead from Paul. With The Dude out front and Paul second the pack in the back was still fighting it out amongst themselves. With time winding down all The Dude needed to do was stay out of trouble and hit the line, that he did and took the big A-main win with his Hyperdrive/Whip-Lash Batteries/John's BSR Tires/SureShot Motors/Speedpro ride!
1) Danny Mentzel 46-laps 4:04.45
2) Paul Schwanbeck 46-laps 4:05.02
3) Jeff Fritsche 45-laps 4:00.29
4) Hays Reeling Sr. 45-laps 4:01.25
5) Hays Reeling Jr. 45-laps 4:02.45
6) Brad Ferks 45-laps 4:03.11
7) Neil Hicks 45-laps 4:03.41
8) Dick Hooper 43-laps 4:02.89
9) Tim Lingen 42-laps 4:02.33
10) Mike Simkins 40-laps 4:01.53
Once again an AWESOME night of racing. Hay Reeling Jr. and myself spoke after the race and both agreed, tonight once again proved why stock racing is so much fun. Yeah you don't have the big rip, but man are the cars close. You can control them, run side by side, lap after lap, swap spots, and finish extremely close together week in and week out. Do yourself a favor, come to Trackside before the end of the carpet season and join the fun, you won't be disapointed!
