Twas the night before the night before Christmas and all through the pits not a soul was stirring, not even the Bruce. All the cars were prepped with care in hopes that victory would soon be theirs. Andy the father of the Prince of Pancars was there as was Hockers on a too rare visit from the frozen tundra. The Makus boys, MIKE and mike were there as was Cory and Dave. Even that old grinch Ted McBaier was there. Race time was drawing near. When all of a suddenly there arose such a clatter I sprang from my feet to see what was the matter. It was that jolly old elf OX coming up the stairs with his little bag of toys. Thus the stage was set for the finale of the first race season at the new Hobbytown track.
Makus earned TQ in 19 turn with Cory a lap back. Ox, Dave and Andy rounded out 19 turn.
Hock took an early round TQ while Ted and Bruce banged on each other. But Wood eventually took over the pole with Hock 2nd and Ted 3rd.
Cory jumped to the lead with Mikey close behind but couldn’t hold back the little guy. By lap 6 Mikey was back in front and Cory’s car bobbled once giving Mikey the room he needed to pull a slight gap. Dave was 3rd, OX 4th and Andy 5th. Andy was doing quite well for his first outing on this little track, especially with a 19 turn motor. He did have that second groove pretty well broken in by the end of the evening. Meanwhile Cory was not losing any ground to the leader nor gaining any. Dave was running the best he’s run for a couple weeks but had nothing for the lead pair. OX was losing ground to Dave and Andy was holding on. Mikey wins another one with Cory about a second back. Dave was almost a lap back and OX was another 3 seconds back. Andy finished out the order.
Wood put the hammer down at the tone with Ted in hot pursuit with Hock close behind. Ted was all over the Wood’s backside for a few laps but dropped back just a tick. Hock didn’t seem to have quite the speed he had earlier and slid back from Ted. Wood pulled slowly away from Ted and lapped Hock on lap 29. Everyone was driving very well and there were no incidents. Wood kept the hammer down and lapped Ted, without incident, (L.O.L.) on lap 39. That’s the way they finished with Wood 2 seconds off the track record, Ted 2nd and Hock 3rd. Very clean and well driven by all.
Karl, your record stands (for now, heh, heh) but Bill couldn’t locate the box with the numbers and letters, so it didn’t get posted. But it will. Really!!!
Team Makus takes first place in points for 19 turn with Cory 2nd, Dave 3rd and OX 4th.
Wood takes first in stock with Ted 2nd. Congrats to all the racers and I hope we can improve and grow this fledgling program.
P.S. The Dude did not show up to collect his appearance money, so we spent it on beer. Thanks and Merry Christmas to all on to all a good night.

Small turnout last night, darn holidays. Makus managed to set a new track record in 19 turn at 59,4:02.30 with Cory close behind after a scuffle with Jay that left Jay sitting facing traffic on the back straight. He was marshalled before anyone collected him. OX, Jay and Dave rounded out the order.
Wood beat Ted and Hock but did not reset the track record. Yes Karl your name is now on the wall. But not for long. L.O.L. Next week we should have 2 ex-racers who are coming back and hopefully more of the out of towners will be able to break free and come race.
C'mon you guys, you know you want to.

Dave. Bill says no one is in the building on sundays, so no open practice yet. However if 4 or 5 racers want it open for practice, they will make it happen. We only have to arrange it ahead of time. I am sure they would want a nominal fee to help cover the lights etc. I am gone 'til sunday night but just let me know. Maybe Cory, Makus and some others would like to get in and try some different things some sunday.

Hey all, I finally found the links needed and registered to post here as well as 'that other place'.

To sum up the week, we did have a light group on Tuesday, but the Wednesday run on the dirt track was well attended, as well as the Thursday and Friday night. Tonight, they are again running Road Course so come on in.

See you all next week, I'm going to take a nap (finally a day off!).

10 drivers braved frigid temps to do battle on the bullring last night. 6 in stock and 4 for 19 turn came out. Welcome back to Jeff Brooks after a 6 year hiatus. Burbey also came to race and display his musical talents by playing some sort of trumpet. Truly inspiring. Buddy and Ed came down from the north and most of the regulars were in attendance as well.
Cory reached deep inside and pulled out the T.Q. for 19 turn with a 50,02 with Makus right behind.
Wood and Buddy traded T.Q. honors back and forth every round until Buddy finally pulled it out in the final round with a 53,02 with Wood close behind.
Ted had the pole for the B but his bad luck continued which gave the win to Ed with a 50 lap flat run. Jeff was 2nd 2nd and Ted was a DNF.
A main stock saw the pole car jump out front at the tone with Wood and Burbey in hot pursuit. Buddy’s car was good but Wood’s was just a tick faster. Round and round they went, inches separating them for lap after lap. Wood would stick his nose in but not far enough to finish the pass. This would cost him a few feet but he kept coming back looking for an opening. Buddy was running a very consistent and protective line. About halfway through Wood gets by on one end but Buddy retakes the lead on the far end. Meanwhile Burbey is losing ground to the leaders. Wood keeps hounding Buddy waiting for a mistake bur Buddy just keeps clicking off perfect laps. Bill announces 19 seconds to go and Wood realizes it’s clinch time. Do or die. 3 laps to get the job done. 2 laps and the leaders are all over Burbey who is just trying to stay clear. Last lap and Buddy is past Burbey while Wood is trying to get a run on Buddy and pass Burbey at the same time. Wood pushes Burbey a little too far out while trying for momentum and they touch, slowing them both. Buddy takes a well earned victory lap and wins the show with a 53,4:02.14. Very fun race. I’d rather lose a race like that than win a race by 2 laps. Well maybe not, but it was a heck of a lot of fun. Congrats Buddy, but don’t get too comfortable. P.S. Everyone decided to allow the Stock binary motors and so far around 2.0 seems to be a good roll out for the Binary.
19 turn had a very exciting start as all 4 cars smoked their tires heading for turn 1 with Cory veering slightly to the right. Mikey got caught up and turned turtle while the rest roared away. That pretty much ended Mikey’s race and he pulled after 8 laps. Cory was clicking off 4.0s while OX and Dave gave chase. Lap 6 sees Dave squeeze past OX and set out in search of Cory. But Cory is Gone. In the first 21 laps Cory has only one 4.1 lap with the rest being 4.0s. Dave musters 3 laps at 4.0 and OX gets only 2 during this time. OX is into a rhythm now and picks off Dave by lap 15. Daves car has lost the edge and OX is on a mission. Cory is oblivious to OX and keeps the hammer down. Cory finishes with a 50,4:04.28 with OX ¾ lap back and Dave 1 more lap down. Ox and Dave’s cars are getting better every week. Makus and Cory better step it up a notch. L.O.L.
Next time you see Burbey ask him why he didn’t pursue a career in music. Then stand back. L.O.L.

New faces with old cars last night. Doug made it out with his unidentifiable vintage oval car and Jeff came back for his second week and improved greatly. Jeff finished the night off by winning the B just off a 49 lap pace. Not bad for a guy whos’ been out of racing for 5 or 6 years and a 10 year old car. Doug also did well-all things considered.
Makus TQed 19 turn. Nothing new there. OX, yes, OX took the outside pole away from Cory. That 12 single and 6 cell pack has really helped OX step it up. L.O.L. Just kidding about the 12 turn.
Wood Tqed with a 54:404.25 for a new track record. Oops, my bad. Can’t set records except in the main. Ted pulled 2nd on the grid from who knows where. Last weeks winner Buddy and Scott rounded out the stock A.
At the tone Wood got swarmed by the angry pack and relgated to last place. WOW. Ted is leading (another WOW) Buddy, Scott and Wood. As things settle down Wood passes Scott as Buddy passes Ted for the lead. A couple more laps and Wood passes Ted and sets out after Buddy. Lap 12 and Wood passes Buddy, Buddy passes Wood, Wood passes Buddy again and finally makes it stick. Buddy just did not want to give it up. Whew. By lap 16 all is once again right with the universe. Well alright, my little universe anyway. With all this tight racing there was not one accident and I don’t think there was even any rubbing. No one changed positions after this and all racers finished in this order. Very clean run guys. Nice race.
19 turn was was interesting as OX was all over Makus’ backside for the first 10 laps or so until Cory showed him the horn. A couple more laps and OX reclaimed 2nd spot until he teased the white devil a little too much and dropped back ¾ of a second. Cory set out after the Makus child but wasn’t making much headway. Meanwhile Dave was running pretty well in 4th, just not well enough to pressure OX or Cory. OX gripped the radio a bit tighter and set his sights on Cory. This was the best OX’ car has been and it would be a shame to waste it on a 3rd place finish. OX has his sights on Cory’s backside and will not be denied. Lap 44 and OX Earnhardts his way past Cory for 2nd place. Hey, his car bears the number 3 for a reason. Right? Meanwhile Mikey must appreciate these two battling with each other as it gives him a little breather. The race ends with Mikey first with a 69,4:03.57 with OX and Cory less than a half second apart on the same lap. Dave pulled his car at lap 50 after a minor incident made the handling evaporate.
Next week maybe Karl will be back, Hock will have his ride rebuilt, and Maybe even the Dude will Mke an appearance to show us the way around the track. Well as Meatloaf used to say, 2 out 3 ain’t bad.

The cold weather apparently kept all the traveling racers home as we had only the local contingent show up to race. On the bright side our exracers, Jeff and Doug were back as well as Lee “the Man” Damann. Keith and Grif also say they will racing next week or the week after at the worst. Hopefully the Green Bay boys will be back too. 5 stock cars and 4, 19 turn cars were all that braved the cold.
OX had an early T.Q which must have inspired the Makus crew as they stepped it up and took it back in the last round. Wood Tq ed stock with Ted 2nd.
All stock cars ran together as the recently un-retired racers were doing pretty well and the lap count was not too far apart. The stock A Main however was anything but pretty. Woods car was very loose, Lee seemed to forget he was no longer running road course, Doug’s car had problems making up it’s mind where it was going to go and Ted, was, well, Ted. Just kidding ( I just can’t pass a chance to rip on Ted). Everyone got a chance to wail on everyone else. Myself included. I just hope we all have that out of our systems and can get back to running the way we should, and can. In spite of all the crashes, everyone still finished the race and everyone was smiling or laughing at the end.
19 turn saw OX get the big jump and dive for the in side of the corner on the start, but being the gentleman that he is, he yielded to little Mikey the pole sitter. OX held station a few feet behind Mikey through the first laps as Dave came out of nowhere to challenge OX. Dave had been struggling all night but his car looked great at this stage of the race. By lap 7 Dave was ready to take the OX on the inside and all looked well until they hit the apex side by side and Dave’s car vaulted over OX’s and slammed the outside wall facing backward. This allowed Cory to pass OX for 2nd. Dave’s car required a 2 minute pit stop to straighten things back out but it was still fast when he came back. Meanwhile OX was loosing ground and was Cory gaining on Mikey whose handling was going off. By lap 45 Cory was right on Mike’s rear bumper but it took about 5 more laps to get past. Cory finishes it with a 58,02 and change with Mikey a little more than a second back. OX 1 lap back.

There are many reasons to come to Oshkosh.

One to give Bruce a hard time (opps, I mean challenge him for the top dog spot). Second is to warm up for the second race of the Wisconsin Oval Challenge.

Remember, February 15th is the big day.

Then, prep for the Cheesehead race in Green Bay on the 28th.

We will be still running our standard Road Course program at Revolution Raceway that night for the regulars on that night.

See ya'all.

On a cold blustery Friday night all the usual stars & cars of southern WI showed up at Trackside Hobbies to do battle on the premiere carpet oval. Of course with the wind blowing strong from the north & from the west, Oshkosh's finest (Makus Duo & The Dude) and Madison's finest (Jeff "Lefthander R/C" Fritsche) also converged.

Stock qualifying saw some AWESOME close racing all night. The Dude testing out the new binary motors, courtesy of Lefthander R/C, set the early mark for the TQ spot. Fritsche continued to put the pressure on each round, but The Dude stepped it up turning a 47-lap 4:05 run to take the TQ spot for the night with his Hyperdrive/John's BSR Tires/Whiplash Batteries/Speedpro ride, followed closely by Fritsche & Burbey each with 46-lap runs. On a side note I want to congradulate that cat Burbey on his first 46-lap run EVER!!! This was an awesome run for him with the new KGB car, and I am proud to have helped him by loaning him the powerplant to lay it down. Way to go Mike!

The 19-turn class was a little light for the night with most of the locals already on the way to the Snowbirds. Neverless the qualifying was tight. Of course when the dynamic Makus duo shows up you can never count them out. After the driver settled down and put a good run in, TQ was all Makus! This completed the sweep of the TQ spots for the evening by the black cars from the north, Makus in 19-turn, and The Dude in stock.

With the stock cars gridded & set to go I had to wonder what the fresh motor rebuild & the load "stick" from Sully would do for the KGB ride of Burbey? As the tone sounded The Dude won the drag race to turn #1 followed by the voltage charged banzai move of Burbey to the 2nd spot. As the race rumbled on The Dude was feeling the pressure of the hammer & sickle KGB, followed by Fritsche, Pat Simkins, "Showtime" Carlson & Dick Hooper. Just past the 1-minute mark, or lap 18, Burbey took the lead going into turn #3, knocking The Dude to 2nd. Burbey would hold on followed closely by The Dude & Fritsche. With Scotty calling the race like it was the last lap of the Daytona 500, The Dude regained the lead on lap 36. With The Dude out front, Burbey continued the slide back and lost 2nd to Fritsche. As time ran down The Dude would complete the sweep with a 46-lap 4:04.64 lap run, followed by Fritsche, Brubey, Simkins, Carlson & Dick Hooper. Ahhhhhhhhhh the sight of the Hyperdrives finishing 1 & 2, (smile Burbey)

With the 19-turn cars lined up, and the tone sounding, Makus and Danny D ran a side by side drag race into turn #1, slammed doors, and Danny D takes the lead down the front stretch. At this point there apeared to by trouble on the Makus ride as it dog-tracked down the straightaway. On lap 3 Makus retired to the infield leaving Danny D out front, followed by Brad Ferks, & Bill Sullivan. Lap 4 Sully passes Ferks for 2nd and Danny D keeps on trucking out front. The 3 cars toured the oval under 5 seconds for 30 plus laps until Ferks has touble on lap 38 and pulls to the infield. With just the 2 cars remaining Danny D easily takes the win with his Hyperdrive/Team-1/Jaco Tires ride on a 50-lap 4:03.35 run, followed by Sully, Ferks, & Makus.

Once again an AWESOME night of racing was had by all, and even better, a sweep of the nights A-mains by Hyperdrive cars!

On a cold blustery Tuesday night all the usual stars & cars of Central WI showed up at The Oshkosh Hobbytown Track to do battle on the premiere carpet oval. Of course with the wind blowing strong from the north & from the west, West Bend’s Mike (K.G.B.) Burbey as well as Buddy and Ed from the far reaches of the frozen North showed up for the mayhem. The usual group from Oshkosh were there except Cory who is at the Snowbirds and the Makus duo who are temporary out of racing on Tuesdays.
Stock qualifying saw some AWESOME close racing all night. The OX and Big Dick Wood traded T.Q. back and forth every round until Wood finally wrestled it out of the OX’s grasp with a stupefying run of 54,4:03.43 for a new track record. Ooops, can’t set track record in a qualifier. DOH! OX was way off the pace at .08 seconds back. Yes 8/100 second back. Burbey set a new personal best almost every round with his new KGB Sniper Prototype. Nice looking piece. Burbey qualified with a 53 and small change with Buddy also at 53 and Grif who rounded out the A with a 52 lap run. Not bad for his second night on the oval.
For the start of the A it was all smiles on the drivers stand but everyone wanted to take this one home. All the drivers took a deep breath and at the tone the cars took off as they were tied together. Wood’s car pulled hard right and pinned Ox’s car against the outside rail momentarily until Woods tire caught something and catapulted over Ox’s ride and landed outside the track. This allowed Buddy to take the lead with Burbey hot on his tail. OX 3rd, Grif 4th and Wood almost a lap down. Buddy was running well while OX was gaining momentum and took back 2nd spot on lap 6. Wood was turning the fastest laps but had A LOT of track to make up. Lap 11 and Wood passed Grif who is just a tenth off the lead pace. OX has his race face on now and slides past Buddy by lap 14. Wood is trying his best to make up ground and is visibly closing on 2nd & 3rd who are drafting all the way around the track. 3 minutes in and OX is in clean air and now running the fastest laps of the whole group and closing on Woods rear bumper. Wood is slowing slightly and OX goes by with less than 30 seconds to go and sets out after Buddy and Burbey. OX wins with a new track record at 54,4:03.72 , and that IS official. Buddy gets 2nd with Burbey 3rd, Wood 4th and Grif 5th. Just for the record it was 2 Hyperdrives and the KGB , then another Hyperdive in the top 4. OX ran the exact set up he runs for 19 turn (hopefully except for the motor) L.O.L.. Buddy had one of his best runs also and there were high fives all around on the drivers stand when all the smoke had cleared. Burbey has got to be ecstatic with his new ride. The racer formerly know as Mike Burbey now wishes to be called “ K.G.Burbey” from now on. Hahaha. And I have got to work on those starts.
Next week looks to be very competitive and is also your last chance at practice before the Oval Challenge. Unless someone requests the track be open on Saturday the day before the race it will not be available for practice. As far as I know. So speak up if interested.

Should Have The New Car Put Together By This Saturday

With the "Snowbird Nationals" going on and Wisconsin getting pounded by snow the night before and the morning of, the turnout at THE place to race on Friday nights, Trackside was a little light. Of course the "Fast Guys" from the north, Makus duo and The Dude showed, was there any doubt? Jeeeeeeeeez. To top it all of Russ Schact even came out to announce and run the race program tonight!

With the light turnout, all the drivers decided to run stock on this particular night. The familiar black Makus ride was having electrical gremlins on this evening and forcing them to load it on the trailer and head home early. (the speedo wouldn't hold a setting, really weird, I have never seen this happen before) Dick Hooper was having an AWESOME run on this night with his binary powered #8 ride. Brad "Mr. Dirt Oval" Ferks even ran stock tonight and was looking pretty good with his KSG. Burbey and his prototype KGB was running strong again. I even wheeled it for a bit, and I was pretty impressed. As for the racing.....................TQ went to The Dude again tonight with a 46-lap 4:01 qualifier, followed by Hooper, Ferks, Brubey, Reeling Sr., and Simkins Sr.

With the cars lined up and the anticipation set, the tone sounded and The Dude blasted to the lead instantly. With Hooper & Burbey in chase, The Dude decided to test the white and looped the car on the end of lap #1, falling to the 3rd spot. With Hooper leading The Dude got 2nd back on lap #7 from Burbey, and the lead from Hooper on lap #9. A few laps later The Dude loops the car again, falling back to 3rd. This of course was giving everyone hope at taking the win home. With the binary running strong, The Dude worked his way back the the front and checked out. Of couse the race wouldn't go on without incidents, as lapping the field proved to be a little tough tonight since The Dude spun Brubey once and banged doors with Hooper on the backstretch once too. (sorry guys) With the field spread out and time expiring The Dude's Hyperdrive/Whiplash Battery/BSR Tires/Speedpro car takes the A-main win, completing the sweep, with a 46-lap 4:03.69 run. (not too bad with 2 spins) The rest of the field was Dick Hooper in 2nd 45-laps 4:05.24, Hays "Dudette" Reeling in 3rd 44-laps 4:00.41, Brad Ferks in 4th 44-laps 4:02.07, Mike "KGBurbey in 5th 43-laps 4:01.10, & Mike Simkins in 6th 42-laps 4:00.38

Once again an AWESOME night of racing and talking smack with a bunch of cool cats! Too bad the Makus ride had troubles, and where was Sully? He's ALWAYS busting on me if I don't show.........................NO EXCUSES Sully!!! Snow or not you should have been there!!!! (HA HA HA) See you guys all next week!!!!

Cory Heft put on another advanced R.C. symposium last night by taking the T.Q. and the win with 55 lap runs. This is definitely no freshman class Cory is putting on here. Even OX in 2nd place was almost lapped. Wood managed 3rd , with Hock, Grif and Scott Larsen from Green Bay rounding out a well driven “A” main. There were no crashes and only a bit of rubbing through the whole race. Good driving guys. Ted owned the “B” wire to wire with Kevin Burmeister 2nd, Ed Fischer, Jeff Brooks and Doug Kortbein finishing out the “B”. The track is fast and has a very distinct black groove all the way around and several cars traction rolled throughout the night.

the bottom of the page is somthing i saw on the confrence from some people that makes alot of sence to me.. i also added a few point of interest people have talked about.. . Like the records setup in oshkosh a special event doesnt count? as a regular record... and qualifying doesnt count???? this rule i have never seen at a facility... at track record is just that.. it doesnt matter what night it was set or what race... a record is a record.. and there is a reason records should be set in qualifying.. these are generally the cleanest runs.. the mains are an all out race tot he finish line..plus in the main u get basically a free lap.. in qualifying the clock starts as u pass the line.. in the main it does not... so u get 3 seconds added to your time, wich in fact is not a true record..... I have been racing 16 years now and have never seen a rule like it.. I know this is a small issue, but many small issues build upo to big issues...

people like an enjoyable place to race... ashkosh is very nice place to race , but it still needs some work... it isnt just me either i wont name anyone... when we go to trackside there is just an atmosphere there that makes me happy to be there, and makes me come back.... i dont understand being asked to wipe down the tables after racing...... yes i understand we should clean up when we leave, but wipe down the tables???? we pay 12 bucks to race... we should be able to race.. not have to worry about weather on not we did a propwer cleanup job the week before...

i know this furst hand.... the first week i raced there i had to trim the body... when i was leaving i over looked the fact that i left a few small slivers of lexan in my pit... my mistake...But the next week the lexan was put on my pit and and i was told. i think you forgot this last week.. I was honestly PISSED... i did not race there a few weks after to because of this... a simple hey mike you left a little mess in your pit last week, could u clean up a little better... i would have said no problem.. but to keep the lexan and give it back to me thats just not how to make people happy...

like after racing.... it a hurry for the door to get out... i understand it is late and they want to close up, but give us a little time to pack up and shoot the crap... we took the time to drive up and pay to race .. i think a little talking time is ok. i always feel so rushed.. hurry up do this that ect ect.. when we go to trackside it is so lqid back, u could almost take a nap... its just the little things that make people want more of what u have..... I will continue to support oshkosh in every way i can it is a nice facility and deserves that.. but i think the enviroment needs a little work...

just a few points i think could be addressed... I DONT want to see ashkosh fall into a loss of racers... this is a great facility.. it has potential to have a huge racer base.... esspecially for oval... alot of oval racers live close by... i want the track to flourish like it should... if some issues dont get addressed eventually they will bottle up and racers just wiont show.... and this isnt fare to the track or the racers....

I agree , a record is a record any way you look at it... If you can beat the posted record on a week show that was set at a special race that just means your car must have been SUPER !!! hahaha I also agree that all records should be set from qualifying.. When we are supposed to be racing the clock.

Tuesday night was fun if a bit strange. They painted downstairs and somehow dry paint wafted onto the track. The first couple cars out practicing slid around like a sprint car on ice. Entertaining to watch-but not fast. Vacuuming the whole track helped a bunch but ate up valuable practice time. This came back to haunt several drivers throughout the evening.
None of the Green Bay group showed up, I can only assume they are fine tuning their equipment for this weekends “Cheesehead” Race so they can give us a wompin’.
10 cars contested for the pole and guess who ended up out front? Yeah, it was Cory again but Dave Hitz put it all together for the outside pole. Hays SR- yes senior sat third with OX and Wood rounded out the A with mediocre cars due to lack of practice. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it.
Burbey and Little Hays were also a little off and topped the B main. Jeff, Ted, and Doug rounded out the B. Jeff’s car is getting better every week and I predict a breakthrough run for him soon.
At the start of the B all the drivers were lined and Bill reminded them the start is on the Tone. Meanwhile that mischievous scamp Wood was cornering in turn 2 and very softly does his imitation of the start tone. First Burbey moves a little then Hays rolls a bit not knowing for sure if they actually heard the tone or not, then suddenly everyone took off and roared around heading for the front straight. That’s when the tone went off and Bill called them back to restart the race. Oops. My bad. Stand me in the corner, oh wait I was already standing in the corner. I felt bad but it was kinda funny. Hays got the jump on the real start and never looked back. Burbey’s car got slightly wounded in an early bump and run and was never a threat after that but he did manage to hold second place. Jeff slotted into third with Doug in 4th after Ted left the fray for several laps. This is also how they all finished. Hays turned a 53,01. but did not bump up.
The A started without any silliness and Cory and dave rocketed away with Hays Sr and OX in tight pursuit, Wood suffered a slipping clutch and last a half lap right off the line. Dave took over first-but only got to keep it for 9 laps before Cory took it back. Meanwhile Hays was right there with OX sliding backward a bit and Wood slipping back further. Maybe it was a punishment for my little prank earlier. Naw. Meanwhile Cory lapped Wood just before halfway and pulled a bit of a cushion from Dave. While Dave and Cory were battling the wiley old Hays Sr was lurking, like a shark with the smell of blood. Near the end Hays almost had a shot at second but did not push it too hard. It ended with Cory first with a 54,01 with Dave and Hays looking like Siamese twins at the finish line. Ox finished 4th after getting lapped a couple laps before the end and Wood brought up the rear. Great runs for Cory, Dave and Hays Sr. I’m quite sure that is the best Hays and Dave have done at Oshkosh.
On to the “Cheesehead” race saturday.

hey burbs how did you like your motors last week?

burbs
02-25-2004, 07:02 PM
Which motors are u talking about???? the ones dan the dude built???.. i ran one of them in oshkosh at the wekend race... it seemed a bit off to me... but up there if u dont run a quad mag it seems u are slower... the car was out to lunch to... the following week when i ran at trackside i ran one to... i went 45 flat... then danny detlaff of team one gave me one of his monsters to run... i went my personal best , by 3 seconds...

i also picked up a quad mag last thursday... i did well with that to.. i used the hurricane gold brushes in it... it had mas power... it was an 82 watter on the turbo dyno.... right now it is tuff to tell with motors... i still dont have the setup how i want it.. im running the prototype kgb and still havent figured it all out.... i have had 2 good weeks with it and 3 bad... so we will see... later

In spite of a light turnout, probably due to The Cheeshead race being last weekend and the 3rd round of the Wisconsin Oval Challenge being this Saturday, we had some awesome racing. But the best part of the whole night was the appearance of one of our “Lost” racers. Kim Knowles, now Folske. She’s married but back racing again. Kim did an excellent job especially considering she hasn’t held a controller for almost a year. She even beat Ted in the Main. Cory had T.Q through 2 rounds but Wood came back in the third and took it back with a 54,402 beating Cory’s time by 1 second. Grif had an excellent night qualifying 3rd, with Hays the older and wiser, right behind, both with 53’s. Little Hays rounded out the A with a 52 flat. Ted had the pole of the B with a 52,402, Jeff 2nd, Ed Fischer and Kim rounding of the B. OX did not run as he had to take his kid to the doctor with an ear infection, this in spite of telling the kid never to get sick on a race night. I just don’t know about kids nowdays. But OX did show up to talk stupid which he does rather well.
The B started on the tone which Bill did not let me provide this week and Ted’s gears immediately protested with loud noises. Ted asked to pass along some potentionally useful tips, Before your race not only check to see if your motor is wired correctly but also tighten those 2 little screws that hold the motor in place. Thank you Theodore for these helpful insights. L.O.L. Back to the race. Ed was cutting through the field like a hot knife through butter, or at least cheap oleomargarine. Kim was second for the first 15 laps until Jeff recovered from a start line incident. Ted came back after a lengthy pit stop and was turning times faster than Ed’s but he was already 7 laps down and he wasn’t running THAT fast .Ed finished with 52 laps with Jeff 1 lap down and Kim in third. Ted-finished.
The A started with everyone tip toeing into turn one. Wood got out of shape and slipped to fifth, Cory seized the moment and checked out. The next lap and Little Hays had a problem but I didn’t see what it was. We’ll probably blame Ted since I haven’t picked on him enough lately, but whatever the cause it sent Hays to last place. It’s now Cory, Hays Sr. Grif, Wood and Jr. Wood relegates Grif to 4th in a couple more laps and sets out looking for Cory. 25 laps in and Wood moves to second and Grif takes 3rd from Hays Sr. Cory and Wood are running 4.5s and everyone else is running 4.6s. Cory takes another win with a 54,403 with Wood 2 seconds back. Grif takes a very well earned 3rd with 53 laps and Hays Sr whoops up on the kid again. Congrats Cory on another great run.
Next up the Oval Challenge in West Bend. I’m going racing and the wife is going shopping. Oh well, that’s the price of racing on the weekend. WOOOoooHOOOooo.
