David Butts 03-07-2004, 10:09 PM I had a really good time racing with y'all today. I think I called everyone I have the number for on the way home to tell them how much fun I had. Also enjoyed meeting the guys and girl at the track. Good people there. I'll see how many racers I can bring with me next time.
Scott and Peggy should be the example for every track owner. They deffinately act like they're having fun with you and are glad you're there.
The racing gods were not with Jerry and myself today as his car went somewhere else to race and my charger took a poop before the first pack got charged. I borrowed a charger(thanks Kevin and Jerry)and he wrenched and wrenched and wrenched.
Even getting beat by .050 seconds for tq was fun.
That 9 turn? Thats WAY too much motor for that track. It was fun to try and hold on to though. Had it completely sideways a couple of times but it was more luck than skill that got it straightend out. It looked good though huh? World of outlaws stock cars?
I'll be back branford racers. I got that whole plaque to fill up now. Nice plaque it is too. Its nice to actually get something in return for your entry fee.
Echeconnee 03-07-2004, 10:09 PM Glad to hear y'all had fun today. Was it windy down there? We got blown away in Dublin tody, it would have been a great day for a regatta, lol.
Echeconnee 03-07-2004, 10:15 PM David, you should try to make our season opener April 4th. A lot of the Branford guys will be there and you will find we are happy to see racers as well
rcovalracer 03-07-2004, 10:37 PM Not alot of wind, just pollen :( There was alot of talk about going up there on the 4th @ the track today.
Willis here are some Futaba speed controls I have found.

Donnie_99 03-07-2004, 10:57 PM i run the black mc800 speedo its great but it pops apart in a crash easy
its is the same as a lrp quantum. dam it was windy here today played with 19t was a blast.
Donnie
Echeconnee 03-07-2004, 11:01 PM I sure hope y'all come up on the 4th.
That spedo is a good one. I saw it throw fire out of the back of Donnie's car one night, REALLY COOL
Oh yea! 19t was a blast today, was nice to be in front of Donnie for a change, even if it wasn't a real race, lol, JK with ya Donnie :D
Donnie_99 03-07-2004, 11:03 PM lol it did do that ! that motor has never run the same lol
New92 03-07-2004, 11:11 PM I have that speedo too. Its pretty awesome...well it was. Mine wont reset now and started glitching pretty bad so I am sending it in tomorrow. I have been meaning to do it for about 3 weeks now .....
Like he said the cover pops off really easy but the program settings it has really makes a difference over the lower end Novak I am using now.
Even though I race TC I thought I would throw my opinion in lol.

parrott88 03-08-2004, 01:20 PM bent t-plate was the culprit. i've never had a car drive so bad. tight in and looooooooose off. had a great time though. good run david, 44 laps for your first time there is not to shabby. look forward to racing you in the future
Echeconnee 03-08-2004, 03:59 PM 44 on the first trip ain't bad at all!
David Butts 03-08-2004, 04:38 PM bent t-plate was the culprit. i've never had a car drive so bad. tight in and looooooooose off. had a great time though. good run david, 44 laps for your first time there is not to shabby. look forward to racing you in the future
I knew that little itty bitty pair of vice grips would come in handy. Hmm? While Jerry's talking on his phone to whoever it is that keeps calling him I can just give his t-plate a little twist here a little tug there and yep, That oughta do it. Oops! Here he comes, Gotta go  . Seriously though you thought it might have been whacky here friday night and it's what I suspected. Dang I just looked at mine and one of the rear pod screws is missing in action. Thats a good group of people there at Scott's and I'll be back for sure. As a matter of fact I cant wait and on the way home lastnight I called one of the race directors at hw and put in a request to change the sundays that they race to alternate with branford.
David Butts 03-08-2004, 04:43 PM just got back from Kevin's site, now blind in one eye :freak: Geez Butts can you see that car or what? It reminds me of the country time lemonade stock car :D
Hey Clifford, It's brighter in person. That one or one just like it is gonna try to come to your track on the 4th. I've used those colors on every one of my race bodies since 1991. Dirt oval, offroad, on road or touring. They're all that color. Just that one turned out more pink than usual.
rcovalracer 03-08-2004, 07:02 PM Hey guys/girl, I posted the pictures I got from the race Sunday.
You can find them @ the link @ my site "Kevin's RC Pictures". Picture numbers 203-239. I will get the names, etc. finished hopefully sometime tonight.Or click here (http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290485049) . I have one video of the B-Main to post l8er.

Echeconnee 03-08-2004, 09:57 PM Look forward to seeing you on the 4th David. Will you be running stock or 19t? Because 19t is going to be a hoot! Right Donnie?

shawnleary 03-10-2004, 08:31 PM Kevin you should hear his singing voice as well. j/k, not too shabby of an announcer either.
David Butts 03-10-2004, 10:23 PM Now I'm blushing. You oughta see me in a good mood  . Life is too short to not have fun and I've had all the un'fun I'd care to have so when I'm at a track be it with my r/c stuff or my full size cars at a show I'll be having fun. When stuff stops being fun stop doing it.
rcovalracer 03-12-2004, 04:18 AM POSTED BY SHAWNLEARY:not too shabby of an announcer either.
I heard him and Dave announce @ the carpet track I believe.. :dude:

Herc Driver 03-13-2004, 12:57 AM Hey I guess I followed Big Don over. Its true Im being stationed in Valdosta (after a long stint in texas...and of course the fun of 4 desert vacations seen on tv!) and am looking for a nearby track. Don gave me the website and all that.
I am new to oval (have done it but looong ago) so Ill be interested in what kind of cars etc you guys run so Ill have at least the right componets when I show. Anyway Ill be heading that way in December so I imagine January will be the soonest I get to the track but I guess I like to get a head start on finding my new racing home!
Am I right in assuming that you run 4 cell pan cars like the associated ones etc? Im pretty much a stock guy so...no need for mod because I don't want to be breaking my cars all the time!
Thanks for any info...

paul_rhodes 03-13-2004, 01:59 AM Looking for other people going to the datona rc race
rcovalracer 03-13-2004, 06:06 AM Hey Herc Driver, we run 4 cell pan cars,27T stock motors,5 min heats and mains, here are a couple of cars that are being ran,Team Associated L4,Maverick,KGB,and some run Hyperdrive. There is 2 classes in Branford,4 cell stock Nastruck and 4 cell stock NASCAR.
The NASTRUCK rules are fairly simple, same as NASCAR but you will need a NASTRUCK body with no wing, just a spoiler.
I currently run a Hyperdrive 510 BT for NASCAR and a Team Associated L3 for NASTRUCK.Here are a few links to oval car sites.

rcovalracer 03-13-2004, 05:48 PM Hey Stevie I would love to go watch on Saturday, but I am racing in Branford that Sunday, while the fast guys are gone
I just got back from Scott's and me,Gary, and Scott has painted a driving line around the track,it is not a solid line but it is seperated.
We also painted where the cars line up for the start,a little different than normal, you will have 3 in the front row,2 in the second row,3 in the 3rd,and 2 in the back. Lookout 3 wide at the start.
I am proably heading back down there sometime again this week for some more practice as the new lines have got my driving line way off, especially going into 1 and 2.Kevin
Kevin's RC Oval Site/Branford RC Speedway (http://www.kevinsrc.tk)
parrott88 03-13-2004, 07:48 PM three wide at the start!!!!!!! what are you guys trying to do
rcovalracer 03-13-2004, 08:46 PM It wasn't our idea,I was holding the stencil while Gary painted.
It is going to be mayhem in turn 1 now.
Hank80 03-13-2004, 08:57 PM Kevin<--------------you have a pm
gary51 03-13-2004, 11:34 PM Jerry There Is 3 Wide In First Lane Butall Cars Are Set Futher Apart . Especialy Front To Back You Should Not Have Some One Right Up On Your Bumper And Not Right Behind You.
Gary
rcovalracer 03-14-2004, 09:28 AM You Should Not Have Some One Right Up On Your
Yea they are spaced out a little more,so I don't think anyone will be passing on the first lap in 1 and 2 anymore, maybe side by side but not all bunched up
I think the idea behind this was to get cleaner starts,if you check out my videos section there are alot of videos of bad starts, not sure though.
3 wide in the front should not be a problem, they are pretty much spaced apart also, and JMO it will stop the racing for the checkered flag on the first lap.
Donnie_99 03-14-2004, 05:11 PM man i cant wait to get back there i really enjoy the trip even though its a 4 hour drive.
rowdyrj 03-14-2004, 06:20 PM man i cant wait to get back there i really enjoy the trip even though its a 4 hour drive.

rcgen 03-16-2004, 07:45 AM Kevin,
What's the directions from Jax to the track? I know it's somewhere here but couldn't find it.
thanks
rcovalracer 03-16-2004, 06:36 PM Butts (TM) may know of a quicker way,but here are my best directions.
Take I-10 W.
Exit ramp right- I-75 South
Go to Exit 427-US 90- Lake City
Make a left at the light, you are on US 90,go down I would say 7 red lights, there is plaza with Food Lion on the left and Advance Auto Parts on the right,(make)merge to the right towards the Auto parts store, that is Highway 247 (Branford HWY)
Go down 247 until you reach Beachville,as soon as you reach Beachville look for CR 49,there will be a blue Jiffy store on the left, turn left at that flashing light, you are now on CR 49.Go down past the dirt bike track, pass that dirt road, and you come to the second dirt road on the left, 264th st, go down it,first dirt road on the left,61st street,go down until you see the signs on the left posted on the fence, pull all the way to the back.
Or take I-10 W
Exit- Sanderson Olustee-US 90 Turn Left- Towards Lake City
Follow it until you come into Lake City and you come up to the Food Lion plaza on the right and a Walgreens on the left, make that left at the light, that will be Highway 247 (Branford Highway)Go down 247 until you reach Beachville,as soon as you reach Beachville look for CR 49,there will be a blue Jiffy store on the left, turn left at that flashing light, you are now on CR 49.Go down past the dirt bike track, pass that dirt road, and you come to the second dirt road on the left, 264th st, go down it,first dirt road on the left,61st street,go down until you see the signs on the left posted on the fence, pull all the way to the back.
Fl Flash 03-16-2004, 06:49 PM Kevin, Thanks for the info on tires, guess I,ll have ta pick some up at the track, Jax appears to be cap free  Did pick up a pickup body today just need to paint and mount it on my L40, be ready to ride!!
Thanks for the track directions also, Butts told me the same ways but now I can print it! Hmm seem to have misplaced my memory again. See Yall Sunday!!
Later, Lee
