Jamie, if you come by, I might ask you to sit in for me on a heat... I've always been currious how fast my car could go at the hands of someone who can actualy drive...

So... if you come by... maybe you can do a little more then watch if you like...

Nick - Do you need any rear axle bushings for Legends? I've got a Metric Poopload of them for 25 cents each. (I'm still searching for a source for front bushings.)

Hey guys, I was thinking (Boy, now there's trouble!), we need to find a way to make the Friday night program finish a little sooner. Walter and I have come up with a few options..

1. 10 heat rule- If we have 10 or more heats, we will only run 2 heats and a main.

2. No waiting rule- When the two minute clock expires, we start the race. Last week, we had to wait for several driver to be ready, and with an hour and a half between runs, there should be no reason to not be ready.

3. Pack the heats- Put 8 to 10 cars in a heat. It make life a little more interesting, but fewer heats.

4. No less than 4 cars to run a heat- We've had some classes where we only have 2 or 3 cars running. We need to have at 4 racers, so that we have marshalls.

Also, I'm thinking about a rule where if the racer is not signed up 6:30pm, they miss their first heat. A majority of the time that we run late in starting, is because not everyone has signed up. If we start on time, we can leave a little earlier.

Just me know what you guys think.

I like most of those rules. I for one don't like packing heats. Take last week for example, in the main I know I could have turned 51 (easily!) but I had no chance, the guys in my heat spent the whole time bouncing off me.

Packing the heats will make it worse, not to mention that some people who have been known to "complain" will bitch even more.

I agree with all the rules but number three......

I would rather run two heats and main INSTEAD of packing the heats! You start packing heats, and attendance will drop.

BTW I don't have a problem be called the race nazi, but if we run with two minute break MAX, you will need to take a 20 to 30 minute break in between rounds. You can do that and still be out by midnight...... Once we stop waiting for people and they miss a heat or two, they will learn to be ready.

Not sure if you wanted my opinion on here or in person I'm not sure. But this way everyone knows how I feel. :D

My two cents: Instead of getting the Friday night racing done at 2:00AM Saturday, How about getting it done at 8:PM Saturday. Of course that would mean starting at Noon on Saturday.
Gosh, listen to all the cheers, It's overwhelming.

I can work with rule 1, 2, and 4.
I can live with rule 3 providing we are able to run three heats and a main.
I see no reason why everyone can't be signed up by 6:30. I also see no reason why you have to call Marshal's out for the next race.
Nick I got your back as long as Smitty and Jake has mine.

I would say 6 or 7 in a heat would be packing a heat. With 8 car mains. The sign in by 6:30 is a good idea. 2 heats & a main would suck.

rowle1jt
12-10-2003, 12:43 PM
2 heats & a main would suck.
I would still rather do this and get out at 12:00 or 12:30 than have 6-8 cars in my heat. I like the 10 heat rule. We have to do something, or by the time Feb comes around, we won't be getting out until 3 or 3:30 in the morning. :freak:

And Mel, I always got your back....

Frank Ulbrik
12-10-2003, 12:56 PM
2 heats & a main would suck! Im sure others would agree. But hey, what ever you guys decide on. If ya race with more cars on the track, maybe it will make better drivers out of some of us.

DynoMoHum
12-10-2003, 02:11 PM
Since I can't come anytime soon... I though I'd put my two cents in anyway... :)

Sign up at 6:30 is ok... If you let me pre-register on the days I can't get there untill 6:45. I come from Ann Arbor, and it's virtualy impoosible for me to be there by 6:30.

2 heats and a main, does suck, but so does getting out later then about 1AM... 8 cars per heat would be great if it allowed us to still get in 3 heats and a main.

Most of all I like KingPin's idea... start at noon on Saturday and get out at 8PM on Saturday... but I'm sure we are in the minoriity...

Ah... but anyway my opion means next to nothing now, since it's very likely I won't be around for at least 6 weeks.

Actualy... I've been thinking about commin up and giving Jake some motor help... maybe he could get 52 laps if I did... :)

Do you have a pinion that's 5 teeth smaller?

NTwigs
12-10-2003, 03:11 PM
I personally would like to keep it 3 heats and a main. I'm just trying to find ways to make the evening end a little earlier than we have been. If the racers can help a little, then we can get the show moving faster.

Also, do you guys have any other suggestions??

rowle1jt
12-10-2003, 03:18 PM
Pack the truck heats, all they do is bounce off each other anyway. :D LoL (I'm joking truck racers!)

Seriously, STICK to the 2 minute clock, start running with out people. They will either learn their lesson and learn to be on time, or they will get mad and not come back. Which will also shorten the time it takes to run a round. LoL

I don't want attendance to drop at all, thats not why I say that, and I also don't want 2 heats and a main, but it is something that I consider as a possibility. I too would rather run three quals and a main, but I would also like to be home before 2:30 in the morning. :)

Whats neat about lansing, is that even though "oval is dead" according to the RC world, Lansing is approaching weekly attendance that will soon rival Mount Pleasant........

Dyno, Im not too up on all the new stock motors, but If its the new quad mag stock your talking about?, Ernie broke stock track record with one last Fri.

NTwigs
12-10-2003, 03:32 PM
As for the Binary stocks, I'm not sure what to do. It sounds like they won't be ROAR legal for quite a while. I have also been told by a few drivers that if I allow those motors, they will build their own version of it, because technically they aren't legal, so what they produce would be legal in their arguement.

Frank Ulbrik
12-10-2003, 03:35 PM
Stick with the monsters, & avoid all the confusion.

rowle1jt
12-10-2003, 03:42 PM
That would my vote Nick, just don't allow it. Your right, it would open a whole can of worms......

DynoMoHum
12-10-2003, 04:02 PM
We'll throw one in Jakes car sometime... if he wins... you guys can thow him off the drivers stand... :)

It's probably best not to allow them... But then... what are you going to do if someone has one? throw them out and tell them they are bad? What I mean is if the someone just wants to play with one... it's not the end of the world... is it? I mean for weekly club racing... who really cares?

Greg Anthony
12-10-2003, 05:51 PM
After monkeying with them for a week, I'd say oval is the only class that these motors might be (yes, might be!!!) an advantage.. But still, it's still not a ROAR legal stock, so therefor it's a modified!

Nick,

I would have to agree with what was said about packign the heats. It should make for better drivers, at least hopefully cleaner drivers if possible. With the packed heats the guys that don't drive clean will end up in the lower mains and the cleaner drivers will be in the higher mains. The next question is going to be what if a fast guy gets taken out by a guy that is hittign everything? Either that driver should be in the novice class, someone should tell him to be more careful and how to let the faster guys go bu either by goig wide or holding their line, or remember it is the responsibility of the over taking driver to make a clean pass. My 2 cents.

Now that football is over with and that I am a college grad (I hope) hopefully I will actually get to race again.

Start on time, 2 minute gaps between races and no waiting for people who aren't ready. Maximum 10 minute break between rounds on busy nights. 6 cars per heat shouldn't be a problem, 8 could get ugly (but might be fun, especially in Legends), 10 WILL be ugly. Use 2 rounds & main as a last resort.

Jake - GREAT DIG on Greg! "Go Slow - Turn left"

Last week I ran A Quad epic stock in two runs and a monster in two runs.

52 4:01 with a monster in qual. 4.5 lap times up front 4.7 finish
53 4:03 with a epic quad. 4.5 laps up front 4.7 finish

dyno numbers were the same and the God of voltage (Zubak) gave me a insane pack for the main.

Our hobby shop sold 120 of the epic stocks since last friday!

Hey guys, I just want to say thank to all the racers that made racing go faster last Friday. We had 11 heats and were done racing by 12:30am. Great job everyone, and I hope we can keep it up!!!

Also, another scheduling note, we WILL be racing on December 26. Doors will open at 1pm.

As for info on the Snowbirds warm-up, we will be hosting it on January 16-17,2004. 2 heats and a main on Friday night, and 3 heats and a main on Saturday. Last year we had 65 entries and I hope we'll have more this year!!!

Just to let all you guys know that the track in Fort Wayne is going to have a trophy race dec. 28th with a club race on the 27th. That Hanson kid had the track record in 19t but Monti beat it last week. Chances are I will be racing the 26th in Lansing then the rest of the weekend in the Fort.

Jamie shoot me an e-mail asap.

A quick question for ? who ever

I was planning on running the warm-ups in January 4 cell stock
but
I see you guys are running the epic quads?
for 4 cell stock

if thats the case then how much will you be selling the motors for?
or will they be legal for the warm-ups?
since they aren't legal yet

thanks
jason

Hi Jason, we had a vote on quad mag stocks last week, and they are currently ILLEGAL at our track. If there is a change, then we will announce it prior to the warm-up.

12-15-2003, 10:13 PM
ok
if they are illegal right now and you guys change it before the warm-ups will there be time to for us who run legal stuff to have time to run one and get one before then
my problem is since they are not legal and who knows when they will would it be fair to make legal for this race?
my 2 cents

i plan on running both 19 turn and 4 cell stock at the Hub and also down at snowbirds

thanks let me know so i know what to do when i come up

Personaly... I feel that if for some reason a person wants to run a Outlaw EPIC motor... they should just run it... forfit your trophey if you choose to... Heck just spray paint a green tint to it and call it a Monster....

Seriously... If someone wants to get some track time in with a motor they may need to run at another race... why should there be any complaint?

I'm not trying to raise a ruckus here... it's just that this is just a toy car race folks... Unless someones concerend about some ponts in a points series or some little trophey, then I really see no reason that a person should be allowed to just declare they are a 'outlaw' and will not accept any points or tropheys.... that they just wan to play with a motor.

Don't get me wrong on one other thing... I don't really care that much... It's just I can see how some people may have a ligitamte need to get some track time with one of these motors.

Tell them that if they choose to do this, they will not run in the A-Main even if they qualify there or something... but don't tell them they can't run it.

NTwigs

Dan, we usually get antwhere between 10 to 20 guys out on a Thursday night for practice.

Glenn, we just set those rules up so that we wouldn't have any arguements amongst the racers. Techincally, it is an ILLEGAL stock, and a few of the racers stated that they would build "Hybrid" stock motor if we were to allow them.
