View Full Version : Raceway at River Junction Beaver Pa Snookie 08-25-2004, 08:14 PM Who's racing on Sunday? Old Hippie 08-25-2004, 10:45 PM snookie, I won't be there Sunday were going to a poker run for Fairview fire dept.See you next time.Drive it like you stole it!!!! Frank RacerXAX 08-26-2004, 10:25 AM Classic looks very nice, may have to check that out this weekend. Just got a L4 and want to try it out. thanks for the help you guys. RacewayJohn 08-27-2004, 07:49 PM RacerXAX, I have been trying to figure out if I have ever met you before? You seem to have been around, but your personal info. leaves alot to be desired... Anyway, if you are interested, the "guys" have rented the Raceway again, and there will be another race HERE (in Beaver) on Sunday, with the doors opening at 10AM, and the races to kick-off at 1PM, probably done by 5-6 at the latest. I know that it may be a drive for you, but you might want to waste the gas for one race day. This place was purpose-built BY racers FOR racers, and they are now voting by their attendance at these "underground-type" races. We have Air Conditioning, 200 amps of electricity for JUST THE TRACK's PITS, pit tables that are covered, chairs, carpeting in the pits, cable TV, no smoking in the building, and of course, PIZZA!!! which will be in, hot, AND available once more this Sunday. The next date (if any) will be determined by those in attendance on Sunday. Hope to see you then! John @ The Raceway  Snookie 08-28-2004, 12:22 PM With rain in the forcast on Sunday, should be a good size turnout for RACING. Highster, bring your cars and your friends with you. You won't be disapointed. RacerXAX, come on over. We will help you with your L-4 setup. Looking forward to watching the Bombers run again. highster 08-28-2004, 03:37 PM I hoping to get there this time. Just not sure yet how work is going to play in to it.... RacerXAX 08-28-2004, 10:49 PM Snook, Thanks for the invite! I told steel city that I want to be the 1st to run on the new tri-oval this weekend as it should be finished by now. Likewise, I will not have enough time to drive all the way over to Beaver because I have to get a lot of things done around the house. :( Are there any pictures of the track on-line anywhere? What is a bomber? Sounds interesting. With rain in the forcast on Sunday, should be a good size turnout for RACING. Highster, bring your cars and your friends with you. You won't be disapointed. RacerXAX, come on over. We will help you with your L-4 setup. Looking forward to watching the Bombers run again. highster 08-28-2004, 11:06 PM "I want to be the 1st to run on the new tri-oval this weekend as it should be finished by now." I was down and ran at Washington RC Raceway on Friday night and it looked like steel city still had a long way to go to get the tri-oval ready. They still had the temp. stuff all set up. Snookie 08-29-2004, 10:07 AM Tom, how was the turnout Fri. nite? You should come up and race with us. highster 08-29-2004, 10:21 AM There where about 7 or so nascars, a few rent-a-rods, but that was about it. It was a real nice change of pace from what I'm used to doing. REal laid back, everyone talking to each other. Really, almost more of a meet and BS then a race. :LOL But as much as I tried to make it up today, it's not going to happen once again. My son had a freind stay over last night, and they are just now getting breakfast, so we couldn't be ready to leave here until about 11:00 or so, and then there is that 1 hour plus drive. :( Next time I will be there no matter. Can I hope for about two weeks??? Please???? Snookie 08-29-2004, 11:04 AM Tom, that's whats nice about racing at Aarons, just having FUN racing... Snookie 08-29-2004, 09:04 PM Mike OBrien give me a call, leave me a number on my voice mail to call you back... MUSTANG 08-29-2004, 10:09 PM Good race today. I think we need to bring those legends out and race some road course. No, I'm not talking about the guys that haven't raced in a while. I'd like to see some Bolink Legends on the road course. I ran mine before, handled very well. Frank, Joe, I know you two have one....anyone else interested?? kaug 09-01-2004, 04:16 PM Not much comments about Sunday race. How many guys showed up? Bigger and better than first time ? RacewayJohn 09-01-2004, 05:24 PM Thanks to all who showed-up on Sunday. Unfortunately, with the rain holding off, the promoters got less than anticipated. But, they are willing to go forward with the race on the 19th of this month - doors open at 10AM, and the races start again at 1PM, with PIZZA! arriving at 12:30PM. The later date is because Ray & I (& others) will be attending the opening day race at the GATE in Cleveland, and would not be available to help the promoters with the races in Beaver. Hopefully, RacerXAX and Kaug can make it with the 3 week lead time before the next event. Thanks! John @ The Raceway  , Beaver. highster 09-01-2004, 05:47 PM Hey John, Email me some info about this opening day race at the Gate. Thanks, Tom RcDinge 09-02-2004, 11:02 PM Who are the promoters? Isn't this track run by river junction? Are you open again or just for a few periodic races? Is there a schedule? RacewayJohn 09-02-2004, 11:18 PM RCDINGE, yes, this track was run by River Junction, but the store is no more. The building owner(me), has rented the facility to those who wish to have a place to race on this side of Pittsburgh. They are unwilling to let this facility pass without a proper effort to retain its place in the Greater-Pittsburgh R/C history books. As I have said before, this place was built BY racers FOR racers, and my brother and I have risked all that we have to have made it available to the racing public for the last 7+ years. The future is what YOU the racers will make it, as Sam & I have nothing else left to commit to this cause. Currently, the next race here will be Sept. 19, when the following race (if there will be one) will be decided on. If you have never visited this facility, you might want to come by and (at least) experience it before you make judgements or believe opinions of others. Thanks to all who have supported us (and this facility) in the past, and be sure that if the opportunity arises to keep the doors open at THE RACEWAY, we will stand by it and welcome it as we do all who enter to race or spectate. John @ THE RACEWAY  Mike OBrien 09-03-2004, 02:04 PM flat smooth and fast RacewayJohn 09-03-2004, 07:24 PM For those who are questioning "Where are Sam & John?", I just want to let you know that today, SCH and we have settled the differences with our parting and have sewn-up the loose ends that parties sometimes have when they leave a business relationship. With this, there should be no more "guessing" what has happened or what has been said, and our customers (from both areas) should know that we are just going our own ways. I wish Mike and the crew in Washington luck in their new track(s), and I will be visiting them when they get going - especially the INDOOR dirt track in a couple of weeks. Thank you to all of our racers/customers/friends who have been patiently waiting for an answer, and please stop by SCH in Washington and see the new track(s) sometime. Thanks......., John @ The RACEWAY  tw78911sc 09-06-2004, 07:47 PM I'm from Toledo, will be in your area Oct4th for a 1:1 track session at Beaver Run. Is there any oval racing going on that weekend, would love to load my RC gear and run both tracks in one trip. LMK Tom Welsh highster 09-06-2004, 08:16 PM Great to hear everything worked out for all involved. Hoping to see you guys soon, maybe the next race day. Snookie 09-07-2004, 06:23 PM Next big race is posted Sept. 19... tw78911sc, contact John on this thread. He is the owner of The Raceway and might be able to hook you up with some R/C track time... RacewayJohn 09-07-2004, 10:18 PM Yes 911SC guy, just contact me, or e-mail me and we'll see what we can work out. It is : riverjct@earthlink.net By the way, what mods have you done to your Porsche? My brother and I used to belong to the PCA a NUMBER of years ago, and still love the 'air breathers" deeply. Thanks, John @ The Raceway  tw78911sc 09-07-2004, 11:24 PM Unfortunately had to sell the Porsche when my job was outsourced to India, hoorah corporate America! It was a full on PCA club racer, I miss it a lot, picked up a BMW M coupe after relocating to Ohio, pretty much stock, fun, but not a Porsche. I love sports car racing, but love oval RC, go figure? I'll be in town the night of the 3rd and on the 4th, LMK, I'll throw the RC gear in the back! Tom PGoogs 09-11-2004, 10:51 PM John and Sam, Sorry to hear about the deal with Steel City. I've been hearing alot of rumors but it's good to hear it from the source. If I understand everything right, the store is closed but you are renting the track out and there is a possiblity races will continue to be run there. Is this correct. Haven't been racing much due to job (or lack of one=Locked Out for 10 months) and family (Just adopted our two foster kids). I've raced some dirt this summer close to home. Hope to race everybody again at Beaver soon!! Paul RacerXAX 09-12-2004, 09:53 AM John and Sam, Sorry to hear about the deal with Steel City. Being an engineer you always do a thorough check before to energize your final conclusion. : :) : I yet have to enter a race to see what this hobby is all about! Hopefully soon. Snookie 09-12-2004, 02:59 PM RacerXAX, racing Sunday the 19th. It's time to get your feet wet. RacewayJohn 09-12-2004, 07:52 PM PGoogs, did you hear it from both sources or one? WashPA over Beaver (Quote from RacerXAX also) The track in Beaver is no more. (too far anyway) WashPA is the only indoor carpet hopes at this point, but at least it will be easy to get too off of the 2 major interstates. Looking forward to... RacerXAX, it looks like the engineer needs to do his own checking...... you've never been here, but write it off without "checking" for yourself ! John @ The Raceway, Beaver, PA  RacerXAX 09-12-2004, 11:14 PM WashPA over Beaver (Quote from RacerXAX also) The track in Beaver is no more. Very good! You got me. Any possibility of you two (SCH/RJ) working together someday again? It seem to be such a strong positive for the RC world and it is a shame for this to have stopped so abruptly when it was just getting going. (Literally) Good luck to both sides, as again, Mike and John are very intelligent people who have good vision and know what they are doing. RacerX RacewayJohn 09-12-2004, 11:37 PM Racer, I think it is spelled "touche' ", and I really don't know what the future holds. I won't comment now, so there won't be rumors going around.....you know how things spread ....John RC Runner 09-13-2004, 11:25 PM Yeah, I wonder where these "rumors" came from in the first place John? Good luck to you guys anyway! Cheer up kid! I'm still trapped down south and haven't been in the "scene" for months. Hope to make it up again this fall. PGoogs 09-14-2004, 08:15 AM First off two facts: 1. I am an engineer. 2. I have raced at Beaver many times. 3. I have not heard the SCH side of the story or talked to John or Sam directly just what I have heard from other people and what was posted here. My comments to John and Sam were made because these are two really great guys who were trying to make a better place for the racers and a better business for themselves. Now the deal is off, for whatever reason(s), and now the store is closed and the track is not running every week or may shut down. They may not have had a big store or track but it was one of, if not the best track I've ever raced at. The other racers were/are very friendly, laid back and helpful. I had just as much fun eating pizza and BSing as I did racing. Good Luck John and Sam in whatever happens in the future. Paul PGoogs 09-14-2004, 08:18 AM ooops! Three facts. RacerXAX, Do I know you? Mike OBrien 09-14-2004, 07:56 PM  RacewayJohn 09-14-2004, 08:03 PM Hey, thanks for the comments P-Googs, I have been wondering the same thing- "do I know you?" and about 2 others as well. Since this is MY thread, I guess that I can state that the 3 in question are a little biased for not knowing me/The Raceway at all (or only for a short time). I have been in this hobby/sport for 18 years( The Raceway for 7), which should put me only 2 years from a pension. Alas, I only have a "passion" for hobby, and the great(and VERY LOYAL) customers/friends that we have made over the years. People may question my "role" in past activities, but should NEVER arm-chair quarterback my decisions and actions without having been in my shoes, knowing all the facts. Thanks once again, and looking forward to seeing any/all of you that can make it on Sunday SEPTEMBER 19th for the next race here at The Raceway. John @ Same  Snookie 09-14-2004, 08:35 PM Amen... Mike OBrien 09-14-2004, 08:37 PM who are all thes people ????????????????????????? Snookie 09-14-2004, 08:48 PM Who? :jest: MUSTANG 09-15-2004, 10:19 PM Will I get to race against that #99 guy??? It's been awhile Mike...Where you been?? See you all on Sunday !! Mike@SteelCity 09-15-2004, 11:31 PM Ok, now that I have a "new" password, we should all be safe to post! (There are only a few who knew my PW... talk about damage control!) Actually, what was said originally in this "post" was not all that bad, except that I really do not know how to spell touché... I'd admit that! As John said before, all is cool between the RJ and SCH guys as we each have our own projects to contend with. Mike  highster 09-16-2004, 06:24 AM Just because I had a type-o (Toochea instead of touché) Mike, So are you saying that you are also RacerXAX? Mike OBrien 09-16-2004, 09:32 AM hahahah busted!!!!!!! erock1331 09-16-2004, 09:54 AM That's too funny And the clock turns on "Day's of Our Lives".....err I mean Hobbytalk Mike O, you coming to our race Saturday on the apshalt? Looking to be a great one. If everyone comes who I spoke with we are looking at 30+ cars in Stock. And what's a stock race of that caliber without Mike O there. Mike OBrien 09-16-2004, 10:07 AM no i cant make it have to work erock1331 09-16-2004, 10:15 AM bummer C-ya on the rug then. Sandhills Norrca race - Nov 20-21, be there...... Mike OBrien 09-16-2004, 05:42 PM so just what are you saying,,,,,, and your right it was not that bad it just gave you away  highster 09-16-2004, 06:11 PM Actually, what was said originally in this "post" was not all that bad, except that I really do not know how to spell touché... I'd admit that! Mike  If there wasn't anything that bad, why edit it and still not anwser my question? Snookie 09-16-2004, 07:08 PM Old news.
