OK boys it's time to go racing. Track is rented and ready to go.
Sunday Aug. 15 the doors will open at 10am, racing starts at 1:00.
We will run both Oval and Roadcorse. Plenty of pit space so bring a friend or at least call some up to come out and play...

I think steel city was being a good shop putting its customers cars first (yes you al) I want to see a rematch. When is this going down? Maybe we should move this drag talk to the sch drag thread.

how many racers are coming sunday? how do you get to the track? how long will the racing last and how much $ to enter?

RacewayJohn

Dinge, and others, the address of the building is 1216 4th Street, Beaver, PA 15009. Basically, exit PA Rte. 60 at the Beaver exit (turn either left- coming from the North; or right- coming from the South/Airport) , head into town, and you will see a McDonald's on your left (about 3/4 mile), go past the McDonald's(with the cemetery on your left as well) to the NEXT redlight. At that light, turn left, and go to the next light (1 block). At that light, turn left again (3 sides of a square going around the cemetery) and the building is right there. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. John

It's $10 for first class then $5 for each additional.
If we start at 1:00pm,we should finish before 7:pm.
So far it looks like about 30 people with probably everyone running multiple classes.
See you there.

I want to stop by to check it out if i have time. Steel city hobbie said this is a big race so that is why i ask so many questions. I want to get into racing so I was looking at their new track looks nice and they told me beavers was a seasoned track with history behind it. I like how racers help each other out as this is a good hobby to get into.

I had a good time yesterday. Nice to see everyone again. Congrats to Raymond, Allen and Bob on their wins. First time for me with the bomber and it was hooked up. Great race with 6 cars - and Frank kept the pressure on!

Thanks to Snookie for setting everything up and to John and Sam for working so that we could have fun. Track conditon was great, pizza was delicious and everyone was smiling - a good day of fun for everyone! To those who couldn't make it - you missed a good time.

Let's do it again sometime soon!

Kevin

Thanks Frank, Snookie & Kevin for your support of The Raceway. Sam & I (while we are trying to sell our building) will do what we can to keep supporting the racers, and hope to have the Raceway in the negotiations with the new owner/owners for at least this racing season. We have always put the racers/customers first, but now must try to re-group ourselves and keep financially afloat. It has been a very difficult summer, but we are still optimistic that we can have a place for all of us to race this season. Thanks again for all of your kind words and thoughts through our tough times, and please try to come race on the 29th of this month :( With the success of the race on the 15th, the promoters are willing to keep it up for as long as we get the same (or better) crowds. Thanks, John @ The Raceway

Thanks John, Sam...great time...Bombers are da bomb....Kevin, awesome race. I know my bomber is as fast as everyone, just couldn't get it through the turns as well as you and Frank. It was almost like I was spinning around the turns, as if slipping on a banana or something. What?? Who brought the fruit basket? lol .....Oh well, hopefully I can get it running a little better to catch Frank(OLD HIPPIE) and REVin Kevin(the panman). See you all on the 29th.

Does anyone know how many carpet tracks there are in the Pittsburgh area? I know of 2 existing and 1 big one being built in Washington Mall. I have not heard of any "series" but is that something that could happen around here?

Snookie
08-21-2004, 11:32 AM
Mike, plenty of racers. Where is your buddy? Will TWA be there on the 29th?

RacerXAX, as far as local tracks go,
The Raceway in Beaver is a quality track with drivers of the same. Home to Mike OBrien ARCOR champ/ Raymond Darroch Snowbird sedan winner.
Aarons Washington Mall R/C Raceway is a great short track with good people having FUN racing.
R/C Ave. in Latrobe has long straights but tight turns. Race just about anything.
Y-City hobbies is the same as Beaver, but with wider turns. Home to Dusty Dean.
Classic hobbies is the big banked track in Akron OH.

As far as the big track in Washington Mall, being built for the last year, too much talk.

Thanks for askin' about the info... Snookie, I heard Classic has a banked oval? That would be awesome if it is close to pittsburgh because I would like to check it out. Your opinion, which track is your personal favorite? And is the general entry fee usually $10/car at all these tracks?

About the Steel City track at the Washington Mall, most of the "talk" I have heard was from the over enthusiastic big guy John (I think?;) ). And on the other hand, the tall guy ( ) was always a little more realistic as far as a time schedule I think.

Thanks for the info!

I heard Classic has a banked oval?
Classic has a 190' indoor banked ozite oval, home to several National events.

And in the summer we race on a 285' asphalt track, slightly banked.

Cool about classic. Sounds like that is the ultimate oval around. Do they have an address so we can map quest it for directions? What is the best car to use (at any of these tracks)? I have been hearing a lot about a L4 from Associated... tires? Obviously, I am new to this but looks like a lot of fun. Thanks!

Does anyone know if the track in Washington mall (not steel city) will be open this friday night? And if so what time do they start racing?

Gene
08-23-2004, 09:59 PM
Washington RC Raceway is open every Friday evening. Just a question if enough racers to show up to race. If no race just practice and setup time is good use of the time. Opens around 6 p.m and if racing starts around 6:30 or 7 p.m.

highster
08-23-2004, 10:10 PM
How many racers do they need to race? If I come down I will have 3 4 cell nascars, 3 legends, and maybe 3 2wd trucks running foam tires. What is the entry fees?
