erock1331 - It was VERY disappointing - a TOTAL of 6 cars in 4 cell stock. That's it. No other classes - no other cars - period!

John's trying to do things to accommodate the racers and people aren't supporting him.

Of course, in the fall when THEY'RE ready to race, everyone will expect John to have the track open in tip-top shape and his shop completely stocked. That's tough to do with no income the entire summer! I know we all have things to do during the summer, but we have to support the local tracks year 'round.

Not trying to bash anyone. I just want things to work out for John. He and Sam have done many great things to support the hobby in our area. We need to show our support.

My $.02. Thanks for listening.

PanMan...thanks for your $.02 , I appreciate all that you & others have done to try to promote our track abroad. I don't know the answer for the poor attendance, but I'm going to do my best to make-up for it this Fall/Winter. Get ready- if we need to, we'll be racin' 24-7!!!!!! Well, not THAT much.... Anyway, with any business one must expect slow times, and usually should be ready for them too. In our case, we work so close to the poor house, that we have it tougher when racing drops off the way it has. But, if you LOVE what you are doing................. Thanks again, and see everybody in the Fall!!!!!!!!! John @ The Raceway

No not yet eric, but its just about done. I have to work but Im trying to do some some creative scheduling so I should hopefull be there. As for the track support I fully agree. I have yet to go to a track where they go way out of there way to take care of the racer as it is done at River Juntion. Name a track where the winner of every main receives something for winning. A mains receive 10.00 store credit and b,c,d, etc main winners get a free entry, you cant beat that. In my opion John goes way out of his way to help every racer from the one time shopper that just stops in to look to the ones that spend alot of mony down there. I go through sperts where I may only buy 30-50.00 dollars maybe for a couple months, but then there are months that I spend a several hundreds. I can honestly say I try to contribute whenever I can and hope everyone else does. So with that said everyone with Tekin chagers and 2000 packs better run down and buy some stuff :D

Thank you for your kind comments and concerns. Yes, if someone is running 2000 nicads, they should start to think about replacing them.... Hey I STILL USE my 2400's that are 4 years old, re-matched 3x, and are very neglected. For my racing, it doesn't matter.
I have been checking-up on what compounds other tracks are using, and think we need to make some sort of decision before the season starts; I think Jack The Gripper is the best choice for odorless compounds, and that we should start to edge ourselves away form the orange flavored compounds. Thoughts?? Discuss amongst yourselves...
Thanks, John @ The Raceway

roaddog - well said. No one works harder to please their racers than John and Sam.

I'm guilty of having a Tekin charger, but I'm getting ready to ask John for a price on the new Competition Electronics graphics model. I also go through periods of "low spending", but I try to get everything through John - he deserves it.

I ask everyone to remember how great the racing will be in the fall and winter of this year. It won't happen if we can't lend some support during the summer. We can't make every week, but let's do what we can do.

This is not meant to imply that John and Sam are ready to fold up shop. They're quite industrious and find other ways of making money. It may become apparent to them that they could RENT the track space and make consistent money from the lease. Think about that!

Thanks to all for your efforts in supporting River Junction. We need that raceway!

John
Go with da Gripper. I think it works better than Paragon anyways without the odor. Its the only way to go for indoor.
And your house/hobby area doenst smell anymore too which is nice.
I used it at your track the last time I raced there and it worked good.

Panman
The GFX is an awesome charger. Once you learn the screens its a snap to use.

I tried gripper on my sedan and couldn't tell any difference from what I was allready using.
This summer has been slow, even at the dirt tracks.Turnout is far below even last year let alone 2-3 years ago.I can't explain it,the only observation I've made is the lack of new racers and younger racers.Hardly any folks starting new. What do you guy's think?
Even though I tend to abandon John in Beaver during the summer,I still turn to Sam and John for the best deals in R/C for my offroad parts and supplies. They know I'll be there to stock up for sedan,12th scale and oval in the fall. Many thanks for all the support and advise, from John,Sam,and all the fellow racers at Riverjunction.
Despite the small turnout last weekend,I had a blast getting my "new to me" oval car dialed in.I'll try to make it back in a couple of weeks.
P.S.-Don't forget to bring those sprint cars out(19 turn at the moment).

Flash! RoadDog seen trying out a new K-9 unit Saturday night at the Raceway!! "Pits Rumor" is that it is a RED parts car, with a YELLOW body!!!! Obviously an under-cover car. He should be running it tomorrow (Sunday) against his ex-sponsor...... Stay tuned for additional updates, as they enter the news desk! John @ River Junction :p

Just a quick check to see how many are planning on coming this Sunday for oval. I have set this Sunday to be my first time to run the "new" digital transponders- no matter what. We just got the new & improved Alycat program (deluxe version) and will be trying it out before Sunday. Hopefully, at that time, we'll also be able to start accepting personal transponder inputs as well. Hope to see you then, John @ River Junction

John,
Andy Stotts from Zanesville is planning on coming so I may try and come. If I am there we can try my personal transponder in a practice run, see if the system picks it up or not.

do you run anything besides pan cars on sunday?

RacewayJohn
08-19-2003, 01:38 PM
Jeffpatch, we will have a class for 3 or more cars, but you can count on pan cars, and maybe sprint cars or trucks too. We never know for sure until the doors open. We will also give away a free entry for the A-main winner (of a 3 car class), but 4 or more get a $10.00 gift certificate for the hobby shop. And, of course, when there is a B-Main or others, the winner of those gets a free race entry($10.00 value). Hope to see you Sunday! John @ The Raceway

Minster here.

I plan on being there on Sunday. John - roaddog was correct with the times, right? 1pm doors open - 3pm racing starts? Just making sure before I start the LONG drive.

John, you probably should tell everyone you're closed next weekend, also. If they want to race within the next two weeks, Sunday August 24 is their chance.

John, thanks for your quick response. We might be bringing 3 cars and 1 truck. Anyone want to jump on here with set ups and tire compounds, it would be greatly appreciated. Hope to see you Sun.

08-20-2003, 10:51 AM
Just to add to what Mike said .......

You can only use the "orange" or odorless traction compounds - like TQ Mod or Jack the Gripper. No Paragon allowed.

Rollout should be around 48 mm (1.89") for a Monster motor. You can probably go up one tooth for a GM3.

Three different styles of pizza. All are very good and go with the TQ Mod residue left on your hands.

I hope to see everyone on Sunday.

Thanks to Mike & Kevin (& Eric & Roaddog) for your promotion of this place. To further help the new guys, the racing surface is an overall length of 75 ft. x 32 ft. across. Currently, we are running "short track" , which has straight lanes of approx. 11 ft. wide, and ends(turns)of approx. 15 ft.. The infield is approx. 40ft. long by 8 ft. wide. A good lap time to strive for is about 4 seconds or less. this will give you a solid 60+ lap run after 4 minutes. As stated, we only run the "orange" compounds and Jack The Gripper. We will be, this season, changing to "Jack" exclusively, and have already stopped selling the orange stuff in the store.
If you have any other questions (or concerns) please feel free to e-mail me directly at riverjct@stargate.net or call at (724) 728-5571 and I'll be glad to help. John @ RJ

Yes, Mike, I will have it changed over for you guys to "walk the dogs" in the morning- I'll even vacuum the residue of roadcourse away! . We open at 10AM, and don't forget- Sunday doors open at 1PM. I have installed the Alycat program, and tomorrow night, will be setting it up for Sunday's races. With the small number of classes- about 2, it should go smoothly for the trial run. Looking forward to a GRRRRRRRREEAT season. John @ RJ
