Sounds like alot of fun. Have a 55 Chevy Bomber and looking forward to the race on the 2nd.

Have a question. I have (4) 6-cell spec packs. Can I break these down into 4 cell packs. If any one is gonna complain about this, then I will just buy some 4 cells, but there will be no cycling of individual cells to get closer matches. Just gonna pull 2 cells off each pack to make them 4 cells.

Also, what is the 'P' brush? We went to Red Fox and ran the spec class there and we had to buy and run the 'S' brush. It has an 'S' stamped in the end of it for easy teching.

And is there a min. weight?

Thanks in advance for your replys.

Dale

Old Hippie
04-23-2004, 02:16 PM
Dale, you can break them down but you have too use battery tabs that come with the battery no battery bars,as for the brushes its just a brush with a "P" on it,no weight limit, but car has too be at least five inches high.looking foreward to may 2

P brush is just Race Prep standerd replacement (stamped p 4 easy teching)
Should have them in stock 4 the big race.

Frank, You're not serious about the 5 inch rule are you? With a 60's body I'd have to run truck tires to get it that high.
Rick

Mike OBrien
04-25-2004, 03:42 AM
the 5 inch rule should not be a problem the arcor rule for nascar is 4 1/4

RacewayJohn
04-25-2004, 05:53 PM
Rick, we are having this class as an EXTENSION of a class that already exists in Washington, PA . Therefore, we cannot change what has been started for someone to come and race for the day at our "special race". There WILL BE people from Washington coming for the race, and I want it to be as fair as it can be for all. The 5 inch rule RULES. Thanks for asking, John @ RJ

P.S> There will be no reserved spots before Sunday's opening, as we do NOT want to have the responsibility of keeping anyone's equipment over night. We will also be trying to keep the pit spaces CONDENSED, so plan on SHARING table space with at least one other racer (or more on an 8 footer). Thanks in advance, John.

We should have 4 bombers coming Sunday (Me, Rick, Dale and Jason). Nobody answered my previous post about the roll out for the Bombers, HELP!! Are the P brushes in or will they be in by Sunday? Is the set up for the bombers the same as NASCAR?

RacewayJohn
04-29-2004, 11:50 AM
Paul, the "P" brushes are inbound, but you could use the Race Prep "R" burshes as well, or the Spec brushes with the twisted shunt wire colors. I assume the roll-out to be the same, but achieved with the 120T spur instead. That's great to hear that we will be "under attack" by BOMBERS!!!! The one invasion that will be "fun" !!! See you Sunday, John @ RJ

Oh, I forgot to remind everyone - WE ONLY USE JACK THE GRIPPER compound at "The Raceway". If you are caught using another compound, you will be warned, then the second time, start your car and warm it up.............. John @ RJ

No one has showed up in the past weeks. Some went dirt, others went to Jack's. Wonder where people will race when it rains or snows...(just my 2 cents).

Thanks for looking at this (almost dead) thread. This is the updated schedule for summer racing here in Beaver, PA.:
June 12, 26 ;July 10, 24; and August 14, 28. This is essentially every-other Saturday through the summer, and will have the normal opening times of 2PM and start time of 5PM, with PIZZA arriving at 4:30PM. There is no practice over the summer ( too much $$ for the A/C).
I want to also let everyone know that with the "new" Steel City Hobbies store opening in Washington PA (in about 1 1/2 weeks), River Junction will REMAIN OPEN. A number have "assumed" that all of our eggs will be put in one basket when this new store opens it's doors, but River Junction will remain open and try to race every other week this summer. I do need to point out to those who are reading this that with the POOR attendance(none), and very low sales that RJ has experienced over the last few months, the future of racing and the store at this location (Beaver, PA) is in serious jeopardy-really. Sam & I cannot keep the mortgage, utility bills, and our spirits up without a number of you making a conscious effort to visit and race over the summer (sometime). We have spent our entire efforts and money to make this a fun and great (hopefully) place to race, and we hope that it can/will continue here in BEAVER. But, if the Fall cannot reverse what has already begun, at least in part, then RJ may join the l-o-n-g list of R/C race places that we "used" to go to. Thanks to all those who have supported us in the past, and please take some time to race over the summer- we will, but we like sharing our PIZZA with YOU!!! John @ RJ :(

What all classes will be ran on these days? Any chance of a 2wd truck class if I can get 3 four together? I got a new mini van that is looking for an RC road trip. LOL

I hope everything works out for you guys, River Jct. is a fun place to race.

John, is Wash PA getting a new track to go along with the new hobbyshop?

The Wash PA will begin to build 2 indoor tracks sometime in July. (whenever we take the space (close to 20,000 SF for 2 tracks alone): On-road carpet and off-road dirt.
John does a great job with running the racing that we are going to clone :freak: him so we can hold races in two places at once! Hmmm... Well, if we can't do that, we will stagger the times/dates, but the WashPA track will be more of the same, but on a grand-er scale.
We have been doing a few taste testing for Pizza joints, as John sure loves to bring the pies in.

If interested for more information, refer to www.steelcityhobbies.com for updates on ALL tracks including RJ/SCH.

Mike!

No oval then or will the on-road be both road course and oval track?

It's really sad to hear about the low attendance. River Junction has always been a fun relaxed place to race. I've met many good people there including John and Sam. I for one would have liked to see the new facility with 2 tracks etc. be placed near Beaver or even furthur North. For the guys from the Youngstown and Akron, etc. area. Even if the Washington track is a great track it adds 1-1 1/2 more driving time. I plan on going down to Beaver at least a couple of times this summer (Got to use my GC, I found it!!!!) even though I race off road and dirt oval in the summer.
Good Luck to John and Sam! Keep The Faith! Remember bigger, "better" and newer aren't always the best!
You could always move River Junction to the Youngstown/Warren area. You'd still be an hour from Beaver PLUS an hour from Akron and the biggest plus for us up here, You would be local. Just something to think about.

Well, first, the classes to be run on the dates given will be determined by the racers/vehicles attending. Basically, we are "trying" to have enough to race BOTH oval AND roadcourse. Obviously, as before, if you bring 3 of a car-type, then you have a class- so Tom C. GO FOR IT!!!!! Yes, dude (dood?), I have been rather busy.......working 30 or more hours at supplementcentral.com, then going to Washington Mall to work on the "new" store, leaving there about 9:30PM, and driving to Beaver to catch up on e-mails, etc., then starting all over again at 8 AM the next morning. But, if you (like?) it and believe in the end result, you're gonna do crazy things to get there!
To elaborate on Mike @ Steel City's post - the "Dress Barn" storeroom adjacent to the Steel City Hobbies storerooms is about 9000 +++ square feet. This space will be dedicated to JUST the track and pits only, so there will be a very large carpeted area for racing both roadcourse AND oval. Currently, the Dress Barn is in process of closing down and we should be able to start work on the conversion by the end of June. The track will be (guessing before actually laying it out) about 85 feet long and about 40- 45 feet wide, give or take a couple of feet. This will also allow for ample pit area as well as alot of spectator (stadium) seats- no kidding. The storeroom next door to the store's will be used for larger racing events to handle to overflow from the track's pit areas. The off-road track location is in another part of the mall, with outside access 24-7, and a perfect space for a nice-sized dirt track - about 40 x 85, once again when we get to it the size will be determined. Paul, I am sorry that the Washington location is farther for you, but remember, if RJ gets enough business to keep things going, then the Beaver location will be maintained........... Thanks for everyone's concern, and please check out www.steelcityhobbies.com for the latest pictures of the Washington store. Opening day should be next Monday, June 14. But, if you "show-up" Sunday the 13th, you might get in a day early..... John @ RJ
