Kevin my post was not directed towards you. I have felt this way for some time now. I'm sure we agree on a lot of things but this is a discussion board and I feel the need to voice my opinion also. I don't want to mention other track names but the one in Ohio and your favorite bumpy track you get more than 2 hrs to set up your car. I look at it this way, you get there at 1 and 1:15-1:20 your set up with a pack on charge. Now it 1:50 you take your car out run it around a few time tweaking here and there and next you see its 2:10. Now hopefully you have another battery pack on charge so you can get out there again somewhere around 2:20. Now you changed a few things trying it out on the track its not right, tweak here still not good and blam its 2:40. No time to try anything else cause the race starts at 3pm. You had a chance of trying a couple tire changes etc...what if you needed to rebuild 3 shocks etc, try different front springs. Its just not enough time. We all rely on each other to get near a setup that works but everyone drives different and might need to do additional things. Two hours might not be bad for you but your setup is where you want it. Someone that drove a hr that never raced there is gonna have a rough time and probably wont want to come back. My car is set up but I would like more time also to maybe try new things. Start time of 3pm sucks for me. 5pm would be much better for people that work daylight and also give people more time to set up and try new things. At the nationals that I have raced at you don't get 2hrs for set up, you get days. I don't want to hear well thats a national race either. With all the top drivers being there shouldn't they only need 2 hrs for setup then since they know what there doing? I don't see what the big issue is with 2 additional hours. 3 qualifiers and a main only seems right. They should resort after 2 qualifiers so you have at least one good run if you get stuck in a bad heat. We all have read this post from day one and see just how many posts are like "such and such wouldn't get out of my way, he keeps hacking me, I hate it when hes in my race etc". The fact of the matter is racing is rubbing, most people don't intentionally wreck into others etc. This way you get a fare shake. This is the way I feel and I will continue to post opinions. I think everyone gets along at the raceway. I have no ill feelings for anyone and I even like Alan :)

OK, I'm new here, but alot of stuff has gone on in my absence. First, I DO APPRECIATE all that Danny & Snookie did to get the races off and runnin', but, and I DO MEAN- BUT, I did NOT know that there would be 3 heats and a main, let alone the non-oval track picture. This kinda stuff happens when the rooster leaves the henhouse............. Anyway, from day one, Sam & I have built this track as a "second track" to be another place to race other than Rolling Wheels(now closed), and as a REPLACEMENT to the many fire hall racing events over the years. I have NEVER tried to dictate what will be run, and certainly WHEN something will be run in the past, and I will not try to in the future. The change from Saturday to Sunday oval was because of interviewing many of our regular racers, and talking with them about this as a possibility. This WAS to enable those who want to exclusively race oval on weekends, to race elsewhere (on Saturdays) and at The Raceway on Sundays. It did conflict with those who were to be coming from the Washington area to race, but, alas, they never came anyway......... I would be PERFECTLY happy with changing the schedule BACK to last years' schedule, and altering times, etc. , if it would bring us back the racers that we have obviously lost due to the days/times. Roaddog is right, that this is a forum, and I would like to have all interested parties give their .02 on here, (pro or con), so we can resurrect a better 2nd quarter out of this season. Thanks for reading this, and please reply. John @ RJ

My opinion on race days and times;
Open the track and I'll be there, don't care what time, don't care what day.
I think we can take a daily vote on number of heats.John has done it in the past, obviously you won't want 3 heats if there are 60 racers, but if we run 3 heats,a resort would be cool.

Hey Glitcher, I just came BACK from a resort, and it WAS COOL!! :jest: Actually, for 2 days it was in the 80's, and 60-ish at night. By Monday, it was only 50-60 degrees, and 40-50 at night.
Guys, just remember......the "go fast stuff" is NOT to be introduced NASALLY, or it could make you drive funny  John @ RJ

To all my fellow racers; Thank you all so very much for all the good times at The Raceway. Racing is no longer FUN for me anymore. It's time for me to walk away and take a break. I will miss all of you, the smack talk and horseplay. It's time for me to move on.

John; don't bother to order me a new car, for I do not have a need for one anymore. Thank you for all your help.

All motors, batteries, chargers, tire truer and radio will be sold...

Keep the foam side down and the number side up...
Thank you all once again...

Snook,I for one know how you feel.
I've needed a break once in a while, our hobby can become obsessive and demanding, along with very frustrating for any number of reasons.
I have found myself so wrapped up in it that I've neglected some very important things, family, freindships, and my own well being.
Just remember that you have allot of freinds at the race track and you don't have to race to come visit,or at least stop by so we can call you names.
Besides,you'll be back!I don't know what happened,but it will pass,it always does.
Check your private messages for my phone number.XXXOOO.

Hey Guys

I'm sorry to see ya going Snookie, but in a way I understand. As I have said before, I don't race right now, but from what I have seen down there, you are the heart and soul of that track. Yes it may be owned by John, but if someone needs a hand, you were always the first one to lend it. I am still going through the same thing with my autocross, having walked away from that a couple years ago. I think I can speak for all of us when I say, you will be missed in a big way.

Your Buddy

So,tell us about the changes with the track, changing the pipes?

Snookie
02-18-2004, 10:56 PM
Well Glitcher it's like this,we bought some bends and straight pieces to play with. Chuck is working on an adapter to connect pipes on the inside. When John gives approval to cut some plowdisk we can incorporate new pipes into the track picture for a test to see if it will work. John could probley inform you better as to when.

Erock, what kind and what size are the infield pipes?
Is your track strictly oval?

roaddog
02-20-2004, 12:39 AM
Erics home track is clasic. Banked oval with no pipes, just an infield. That track I beleive is going to be holding a State Race in March. I think its in Kentucky.

Snookie
02-21-2004, 12:47 PM
Thank you Eric. Working on something of the same type. Should look like snowbirds infield. Want it to be easy for John to make track change from on road to oval with ease.

02-22-2004, 08:15 AM
Old Hippie - Sorry, but I won't be there. The last time I was there, I didn't have much fun so I'm taking some time off. I'm not sure when I'll be back.

That 3 hour drive (1 1/2 hour there, 1 1/2 hour back home) is really getting old. Then, when I get there, I don't have fun. This is telling me to step back and take a break.

Again, sorry but I just don't want to spend my entire Sunday going racing. I'll be back, but I'll probably cut back to once per month or every other month. The "drive" and desire just isn't there anymore.

Thanks for asking!

Kevin

Panman-I understand everyone needs a break now and then,I take mine three or more weekends in the summer to go bike rideing or go for a trip in our streetrod or 49 mercury,I only have to drive 35 min each way,I can rember going to Polland Ohio to race and like you said it gets old when your not enjoying yourself,so anyway you take care and I'll see you when every, enjoy your time away.

Frank

PS I know your working on some MOTORS!!!!ha!ha

As of March 2004, The Raceway will be COMBINING both oval AND roadcourse days to one day- SATURDAYS, with the first race being March 6th, 2004 . The door will open at 2PM, and the races will begin at 5PM SHARP, with pizza arriving about 4:30PM, allowing all to eat AND get ready before the first race. This schedule will go through the summer months (air-conditioning). I want to thank all who have raced this season, and encourage those who have not to come and try the new schedule and infield piping that will be in place soon. John @ RJ
