The news is that at Summit Raceway the off road track is a reality. Sounds like the track is in, the clay is high bite! The track looks has been well planned and their planning on racing in early May from what I have heard. Please spread the word…. I will post more news when I find out more. Until them keep an eye on their web site @ http://hometown.aol.com/sheath9831/raceway.html

The first race for the new track is sceduled for May 11 with May 10 being a practice day. The track is 60 x 125 with elevation changes and several different style jumps to be changed every so often to keep it challenging for the weekly racers. Judging by reviews so far from some of the top area racers it looks like Ft. Wayne is finally going to have a track for the serious racers to compete.

Please keep in mind that even though the track in Fort Wayne will be a great place for the serious to compete. It will also be a great place for the novice off road driver to practice and bring thier skill level out of the box. Well then the skies the limit....
So for all of the younger kids, please remember the novice class.

Ahhh... yes pictures. I said I would get pictures, didn't I. Sorry for the delay. Of course, I left my camera at home today, so Wednesday night I should have some pics posted. Sounds like things are coming together quick. I went by the track Monday at lunch to take a look, and saw the concrete footers poured for the foundation of the drivers stand, but no fence. By the time I got home, I found posts on this thread saying that the fence is going up. By the time I get the pics, there may be a Wal-Mart up next door!! (just kidding about the Wal-Mart) I'll try to get some pictures up ASAP.

Hotrod,
Doors open at 10:00, racing starts at 1:00 PM. 4WD buggies? I hope so... I think it's a great class. Anyone out there reading this that is planning on bringing your 4WD buggy?

OK, first thing I support the local tracks more than you will ever know.It just seems kind of odd to pay $10.00 to race indoors and $12.00 to race outdoors. And thank you for the complement.

You are so correct REDBARREN on the comment that you are a big supporter of your local tracks including helping us get our track up and running. If it wasn't for guy's like yourself the hobby wouldn't be where it is today. I understand your comment about the $2 difference in price. While there are many advantages to our being at a retail shopping center with location, parking, resturaunts, motels, etc. the down side is the expense of leasing the building and property we need to provide year around racing. I hope everybody understands that we still have a large building we still have to pay on all year besides the extra for the off road property. Setting prices for something like this is very difficult to do but I'm sure that everybody that knows us realise that the main reason we are doing this is our passion for the hobby. We will be doing everything that we can to keep the prices down and thanks to the many that helped us out and supported us over the winter season and the help we received so far on the off road track we feel we can make this facility successful so the local off-road and carpet RC racers have the kind of top facility they deserve to race at. Please feel free to comment on any concerns or ideas you may have for Summit Raceway, I can assure you they will all be discussed and taken into consideration.

Wally, Thanks, I didn't want to start any big deal. I don't have a problem paying what ever the amount. I do know that myself and others were basicly wondering why the off road guys had to pay more than the indoor guys. It sounds like it's the same across the board, that all we were questioning. are you getting a xxx4? mine is ready! I won't be able to race this sunday...Got the Mothers Day thing going on.

You need any more help with Drivers Stand? Is water set-up?
Let me know if you need anything.

Hey hotrod, bring that 4 wheel drive buggy and we'll find somthun for you to race against. Don't have one now but I'm going to order a XXX4 from Nicks hobbies real soon. All my on-road stuff is 4 wheel drive and I've found there's nothin like given it full throttle and have all four wheels pullin like crazy. Better bring that mod motor, this track has a long straighaway with banked turns at each end.
