Even though our numbers were down do to the big race weekend at Indy I think the racing was as competitive as ever. There was an announcment made at the drivers meeting today that we will be switching to the new AMB RC digital scoring system. This will increase our ability to offer racers the ultimate rc racing experience at Summit Raceway. Look for other big announcements in the near future as we intend to make Summit Raceway one of the premier rc tracks in the midwest. Thanks for everybody's continued support. wallyworld 06-23-2003, 02:05 AM Speekin of Indy. How about a report from one of the local dudes on Planet RCs big bash over the weekend. SuperChicken 06-23-2003, 10:18 AM Talked To Wanker Last Night he Said he had stuff come up so he just went down to kick it with some buddy Got Super Drunk and his CVD's WON LMAO Now about the new Scoring System. does that mean we can Buy are Peronal Transponders? Tim sheath 06-23-2003, 11:39 AM Yes, personal transponders will be used with the new system. When the new system comes in, they will have them to sell. SuperChicken 06-23-2003, 11:43 AM How much ? DriverX 06-23-2003, 12:21 PM deleted by me to get out of here for good SuperChicken 06-23-2003, 05:11 PM Hey john whats up we will cya this sunday bring some friends :-) bigmotor 06-23-2003, 08:43 PM deleted sheath 06-24-2003, 12:26 AM Bigmotor, I'm not a true track official, but maybe I can work through some of your concerns, answer some questions, discuss some suggestions, offer some answers. 1) Race started too late. I don't have much to offer here. I thought the race started at 1:00, and didn't actually get to the track until about 12:45. After looking at the race calendar, yes the racing was to start at noon. I don't know what took place before I got there. Sorry. 2) Took so long one guy had to leave early to get home on time. The track has nothing to do with when a guy has to get home. He lived in Michigan, and with the 1 hour time difference, he had to go. I admit in this case if they had started at noon, he would have been OK. So the track takes 50% of the blame. 3) Digital transponders will not save racing in Ft. Wayne. They need to run the show better. I have to agree here. They are in need of a person to step in, learn the scoring system and transponder system thoroughly, and run the race day. I meet those qualifications, know the system, but my schedule will not allow me to consistenly do the job. There needs to be more people that can run the system and the show. To the track's credit, that's part of what was going on Sunday. When a problem came up, we were doing training on how to handle it. Probably took some time, but in the long run, you will have more people that know more about the system. On the other hand, the new scoring system, including digital transponders, would have eliminated about 1/2 of the delays that occurred during the race program. 4) You expect me to do your job for you. Again, I can't speak for what happened before I got there, but after I got there, I don't think anyone was asked to do anything they had not already volunteered to do. I may be wrong, so correct me if I am. I helped water the track, and John and Austin Barron did also. If someone else was asked to, and didn't want to, I wasn't aware of it. Running power? If it was power to your own pit, I would say that's expected. If it was power to someone else's pit, then they should have taken care of that. I assume you pitted outside, since the inside pits had power. Once power is run to your general area, it's up to you to tap into it for your personal use. . I hope people would rather race at Summit also. They are going through a lot of growing pains right now, and need your suggestions on how to make the day run smoother, and how to improve the general racing atmosphere. I think they have a great facility, with a lot of advantages that other tracks don't have. The new transponder system has been ordered, and the search is on for a new laptop PC capable of handling the new software that is also required to run the new system. When will it all be up and running? Definately not before this weekend, but hopefully before the next. One thing that you will find at Summit R/C Raceway, that I guarantee you will find nowhere else, are two guys more commited and more dedicated to providing the best racing facility that they can to the racers in the northeast Indiana and Ft.Wayne area. Phil and Dale are both working their tails off to provide this facility. They won't always do everything right all the time, but it won't be for lack of trying. What they need from you, is your input. Not 'do it my way, or I'm never coming back' type of input, but constructive criticism, or let them know how it's done other places. Bigmotor, thanks for your input. On some points, you are dead on. Others may have been just been misunderstandings. Feel free to use the email address to voice your concerns and opinions. It is summitrcraceway@yahoo.com Be patient, it will get checked as often as possible. Thanks for reading through all my thoughts. crashmaster 06-24-2003, 01:51 AM How much ?LAST I HURD TIMMY. THEY ARE AROUND $50.00++ redbaron 06-24-2003, 11:05 PM  B3_borntofly 06-25-2003, 05:27 AM its ok John. Adams 44 06-25-2003, 01:25 PM I race here normally and I can agree to the comments. I want to race and get home, we are all busy people. The race can start on time and go quickly without a lot of extra effort. It does flow better with Aaron running the board. I believe your comments will be listened to and implemented if they nicely get to the right people, BUT, don't not come back. An RC track needs to be supported or it will no longer be here. The guys who own this track and the people who support are great people and will listen. If you are so willing to comment, then you should also be willing to support the track. This is a great facility and an excellent location. Nick wallyworld 06-26-2003, 03:55 AM bigmotor. We plan to have the new digital AMBrc scoring system up and running this sunday. AMB has assured us we would recieve it by friday. This system is not being purchased to " save rc racing in Fort Wayne ". Summit Raceway has enjoyed a very successful indoor RC racing season in its first year. Unfortunately our new off-road track has experienced many setbacks the latest being our race director quitting. I can assure you that battling glitches and appoligizing to racers all day doesn't make for a good day for me either. Moving the racing to saturdays in July with a 1 pm starting time, new scoring system, and getting a new race director are all being done to address those problems you spoke of. There are others that will chip in and help water the track so don't concern yourself with that issue, although the set up of your power or table you may have to do yourself if you pit outside. Your coments are important to us and please feel free to express them while you are at the track also. I am new to off-road racing but got hooked on it the first race we had and am willing to learn and do whatever it takes to make this as successful in Fort Wayne as our indoor racing. Thanks. Might run better.. LOL B4MAN 07-05-2003, 05:07 PM Was There Any Racing Today? I Would Of Liked To Come Out But I Had To Work. I Know It Rained All Night. Was The Track Flooded? Will There Be Any Racing Tomorrow? Thanx sheath 07-05-2003, 07:36 PM As most of you know by now, this weekend's race at Summit R/C Raceway has been posponed due to rain. Many, many inches of rain. Normally, a Saturday race would have a rain date of Sunday, but the amount of rain we had will not let the track dry out enough to run Sunday, either. The race has been re-scheduled for next Saturday, July 12th. The Paul Revere Classic was advertised as a trophy race. I did not know until just recently myself, that the description is not accurate. The awards for this race, as it currently stands, will be custom embroidered towels to use as pit towels. The towels are embroidered with the place (1st, 2nd). I will post more details on these awards as I get them. I don't want to post anything that I will have to reatract later. Yes, while it is true that towels SIMILAR to these are available for purchase at Nick's Hobby Shop, you cannot get the normal towels labeled with your finish positions for bragging purposes. :) Awards such as this were brought up in discussions many months ago during indoor carpet racing, an were well received. If you have been racing for any length of time, you probably have several trophies at home, that your wife, girlfriend or mother complains about having to dust all the time. The pit towel idea was brought up as a unique, and useful alternative to trophies. The negative to all this, as I see it, is that it was not presented as such from the start when the race was announced. Pit towels, as awards, are a great idea, in my opinion. I would love to be able to show up at future races with a towel covering my work area that says I got 2nd place at a big race. Something very few people have. redbaron 07-05-2003, 09:16 PM I already got a towel. Do you know what color the towels are? Why doesn't summit post this info on their web sight. Isn't that what it is for? Do you know why no one attempted to clear the drains so the 4" of water could drain off? redbaron 07-05-2003, 09:21 PM I want my towel to say on it...I WANNA BE A WANKER! Scott when u gettin a truck? I think Jason Lash might have one at a real good price! sheath 07-06-2003, 07:50 PM Ahhh, yes, a truck. I've been telling people I need a truck. Looks like a lot of fun! Anyone out there wanting to swap for your truck? Jason may have converted his to an oval truck. He ran a few indoor laps with a truck when I was there Sat. I'd have to wait about a month if I waited on the T4... or get something now. Jason L 07-06-2003, 09:41 PM deleted vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
