Yeah, it is a nitro car. You can't run nitro cars at the track? That doesn't seem fair. Any tracks around here that I can?
Yea I know, We started to run Nitro Last summer and the neighbors complained about the noise so we had to stop running nitro. I heard we are looking for a way to try running it again but that won't be for a while.
Anyway, The Nitro HPI RS4 RTR 3 is not an off-road car and that is what we are running. I don't think it would jump very well.

Lagrange is a concret oval it should work out for you. It's banked and smooth. Larry at summit runs there and he likes it.

I think Larry races at Lagrange at the Schoolyard Speedway. They run nitro truck, nitro touring and DS, electric truck, electric buggy, and electric touring. It is an outlaw track (run what you brung). Races start at 5pm on Saturday.

Summit Raceway didn't give the off road track long enough time last year to get established. This year they changed the track to oval with off road, gave it 4 weeks, and now, all of a sudden, they are changing it back to off road only. Again, they did not give the track enough time to get established, especially with the crappy weather we have been having. Maybe in another 4 weeks they could change it to an asphalt on road course and try that. Nothing will ever get established if they don't give it enough time and don't promote it. By not letting the track get established and not promoting what they have, all they are going to do is frustrate people. When people get frustrated or upset with the constant change, they tend to leave an go somewhere else. When someone buys a car/truck/whatever for a specific type of track that they were told would be available and then the track is suddenly changed, they get upset because they put all this money into something they thought they would be able to run and now cannot. This in itself will cause the track to lose more people and possibly lose them for good (summer and winter).

Just my 2 cents worth.

Actualy I belive summit is doing what they should do,
Listen to their customers!
They started off doing Off-road and then a few appeared to want a dirt oval. The only problem with that was it totaly limited the off-road track. Their was NO turn out for the Oval so the Owners gave their customers what they wanted. OFF-ROAD.
I belive the up coming changes will be great!

I have to go with CWL on this one. Guys have bought cars for the oval and after four weeks the track is going away when there has only been one good weekend so far the other three have sucked. I have a oval car and a off road truck now I guess I will just throw the oval car in a trash can. I just feel bad for the guys that spent all the money on the dominators and can't use them because a few were not happy.

You are right. 3 weeks is not enough time for squat. I mean it rained on the 1st, it was raining in Anderson on the 8th. I was thinking of running there this weekend. I cant see making the 2 hour drive and setting the car up, for 1 race.
I think that if you would of ran the Oval and Off-road seperate it could work. It makes the day to long to wait. I take the stuff from my Off-road to run the ovals, and reinstall it in the winter. So summer is for Ovals.
My thing is that the way some of you cried about the change keep people away. You were putting the ideal of change down. That is your right. But it wont help grow the hobby. To make it work it helps to support the track.
So I quess Red, you won. But it dosent bother me. I will still run Oval, and off-road else where. And I by no means are bashing anyone. The only people to blame is the track owners for giving up to soon. Dirt Oval is on the rise again. If the TC thing still grows On-road will make a come-back. But I wish you good luck with the Off-road. I might see some of you around off-raod or at a oval.

Ok how many guys actually went out and spent for a new dominator?

I have only seen 1 and it was used.

how many of the guys that are on here whining about the dirt oval, actually raced on it?

I myself bought a Sprint car, I have not yet ran up there. I will use the car. There are Ovals in OHio and IL, Plus the one in Advance IN. So the car I bought will be used.
And How can we race on the track when they are taking it out. Would you drive 2 hours, take 1 to 2 hours to work on a setup and never run at the track again. I doubt it. So I quess you could take out the Oval this weekend. Wouldnt really matter.
My thoughts are this. Take a few moments and read the post from above when there was talk about the Oval. Read the comments you cried about it. Then put you place in the Oval guys shoes. Would you drive 2 hours to here it in person. Naw, If they leave it in and run it on say Saturday night I think it would go. You would scream if they had a decent turn out for the oval anyways. It would take a extra 2-4 hours for the races to be ran. Thats with the extra 4 classes. Not counting if Mods show. I think they should KEEP it and run it seprate form the off-road. But it wont happen and will never happen with out YOUR support. You are a Local, not me. All I can do is just think on what it could of been.
And just to let you know. May 1st it rained, may 8th it was raining at My house, and may15th I was in New York. So that is why you havent seen me yet. Other wise I would make the trip to run.
As far as the Off-road goes. If I travel for it this summer I will go to Marks place. I have been there and the guys are great. Go back and re-read pages 57-60 and you will see what I mean. You guys BAShed the oval before it started. NO to the Oval, Who cares if it works. 3 weeks isnt good enough for ti to work. The money that oval brings in could of been good for the Club. I mean a Dominator kit is $559.00, a Sprint car is $600.00 If some one would of bought 1 of each to find out that a few made them take out the oval I would be upset. Even used it will still be around half of that for a good car. So there sohould be some PO'ed people in the FT area.

That is my 2 cents......Take it or leave it.
So I still say Good luck to you and Summit.

Just take your d.o. cars to Advance, I hear it's a sweet track. It's all good.

The main reason for the off-road guys complaining about the oval was putting in the d.o. ruined the off-road track!
I have traveled all over this country racing. I spent the entire winter racing in Indy.EVERY WEEKEND!
FYI..Summit is not a club..It's a business.

Thanks for posting on the Off-Road thread and keeping it popular on Hobby Talk.

For all you that wanted the DIRT OVAL,where were you today? The off-road track was shortened to put the oval in and not one single oval car there today.Being a off-road guy this is a little upsetting. That's all I have to say!.......

If nobody show's for oval in the coming weeks, you take out the oval, put in a nice some what technical off-road track lots jumps and turns. Then start the show on time and they will come.

just my thought,

I Got An Idea! Lets Line Up All The Oval Cars On The Long Straights And I'll Put A Mod. Motor In My Truck And Jump All Of Them........kinda Like Evil-knevil.
If That Don't Work I'll Use My Hemi-dodge Ram!.......

Yes, Barron I will run my DO cars at Advance. Paul and Jerry have made a sweet track. I might see you at Planet this winter, Its a great track as well.
I by no means, are trying to P@#$ you off. I am trying to show the Oval guys veiw. Honestley If Planet was to turn there track into a OVal and off-road would you stop going there? I was looking forward to running at Summit this summer. We have a place on the lake in Rome City. Its a lot shorter of a drive.

It could of worked if guys actualy ran the Dirt Oval but they didn't. Funny how you say they never gave it a chance. Everyone new their was going to ba a dirt oval while snow was still on the ground. Still no one showed.
I don't have a problem with dirt oval. I ran it for 3 years.
If you guys want a dirt oval ask Dale if he would put one in beside the off-road track?

It had tubes for retaining walls. all the d.o.'s I've ran on had wood wall barriers. Alot easier to bump and go fast. why not run some off-road at summit?

anyone that got a dominator like me and wants to race it there is a few of us going to the school yard speedway and running ....the track got all the bumps out of it so it is flat and fast

It rained out on the May 1st, May 8th was nice (Mothers Day Weekend), May 15th was windy, cold and a 70% chance for rain, and we had to rush to get the race in this last weekend. Also There were enough people for a heat this last weekend in the oval.

Oh yeah, like said earlier, ya gotta admit the weather hasn't been ideal. Wether it actually got rained out or not, when it is cold and blustry, its hard to pack the stuff up and drive an hour. So technically, it may not have been rained out each week, but darn close. So, sorry for the error.

Obviously you haven't been monitoring the Schoolyard thread, it has been under major construction lately by the racers for the racers. All the bumps have been smoothed out, new driver stand has been built, and pit road has been laid in concrete, other changes are also in the works.

mcastor11 - when you are in Rome City, why don't you buzz on up to Lagrange and run the concrete oval at Schoolyard? Much closer and a blast! Racing starts at 5pm Saturday nights. They run electro and nitro, outlaw (run what you brung). Some of the fastest racers in Indiana have ran there. Here is the link to the home page: http://www.rcspeedway.net/ Please don't be deceived, the picture is an older one and they are in the process of having it updated.

We could try it but that would not be fair to Phil and Dale. Lets just be the bigger people and support the track even if it's not what we want. It still is better than making a long road trip to race. In the long run it is better for everyone. Plus think after all the trash some have talked if the oval guys beat the pants off of the off road guys.

Thanks for the tip on S.Y. I will keep that in mind. I do have foams for the sprinter....
The guys that got the Dom's check out the track in Advance. I'm sure you can run there.
Like I said before I do run off-road. When I go to Bradley IL, I go for the weekend, Friday night Off-road, Sat Gas Oval, Sun ELE oval. They have both tracks inside. Yea its 3 hours, but the guys who run it, are REAL people. They make you feel welcome. I have to agree, planet is a good track but to much aggression for me.
For me, when I started RCing, 17 years ago. All I ran was DO. I didnt start Off-road till 1989. The majority of the tracks in CA were both. So we could pick and choose where to run. If I get a chance to run DO I try to make it.
My down fall is I work for a Auto apperance co. So this is our busy season. I bought a new boat the 1st of the year and it has only been out once. So its not just RCing that takes a back bunner. I would like to see a Indoor DO here in IN. Not like Kokomo's..Bigger..Kok was a blst to run on, but 200' to 250' indoor is wicked.
Saturday looks like a good day to race, But its my 16th weeding Anv. Yea like the wife will let me race......

I might run some off-raod this fall at the FT when things calm down at work.....

Well we had some great action today at Summit!! We had an awsome racing in the stock truck A-main!! it was John Marshall with the early lead followed by seth and Karl. Karl started to make a comeback for 1st but it was Marshall with the win!! And in buggy we kept it tight!! Cory Richardson had the early lead to pull away from my dad and I. but towards the end Cory tried to make it interesting and let us catch up slowly but surely!! Then, with one minute left to go we were up to him and it was a race to the finish!! in the end it was me, John B., and Cory R. I think we all had fun today.

Construction on the track has begun. we all hope to have the track done by tomorrow(sunday). it will be ready to go next weekend. It is going to be soooooo SWEEEEEEETTTT!!!!!!!

See all who come and work on the track tomorrow. We will be there tomorrow
