View Full Version : New Off Road Track in Fort Wayne nate 03-15-2004, 12:17 AM Don't worry. The offroad track will still be there and redesigned. drowlett 03-15-2004, 11:02 AM OK, one question? What is everyone (most) running as far as a buggy out here? I am looking at a B4 or a BK2. Leaning towards the Losi, but want to get something that is supported by the local area. Thanks for your input. redbaron 03-15-2004, 12:16 PM drowlett: Both Buggies are good, I prefer BK2. There is about a 50/50 mix. redbaron 03-15-2004, 12:19 PM To everyone on here. It was NOT my Idea for the dirt oval. I think it's a waste of time! I only know of 3-4 people who want to do oval I will NOT run oval, I would burn my stuff first! redbaron 03-15-2004, 12:23 PM Scott, "In recent years, dirt oval racing has been nowhere to be found" For a reason, Racers got tired of spending big money to keep up. cory30 03-15-2004, 08:03 PM John, AMEN BROTHER! Papamerkle 03-16-2004, 06:59 PM I'll second that Amen!!! redbaron 03-17-2004, 08:11 AM cory30, Hey man, Goin to the planet this sat? Papamerkle, Hows things? haven't seen ya since summer. mcastor11 03-18-2004, 09:14 AM You know, I could say the same about Carpet. But I wont. And even On-road. I quess you just dont understand. Dirt Oval racing is the Grass roots of motor racing. If it wasnt for the dirt guys there would not be Daytona. My thoughts are run what you want to. I will runt the oval if I have a chance. I myself drive from Anderson to Bradley IL just to run on a Dirt Oval. Dirt Ovals are not dead by all means. www.dirtoval.com is a excellent site for alot of tracks. Granted there are more in the N.E. of the country then there are here. I can name 3 with in 3 hours of Indy. Have even heard of one going in Lafeyete. I hate to say this but DO never died, It's making a HUGE come back. You have to try out a MOD Sprinter with a 8 turn single and sliding around a conner wide open sometime. redbaron 03-18-2004, 11:10 AM mcastor11, I'm not even talking about Carpet. I'm not talking about full size racing. I'm talking about radio control Off-road racing in our area. I feel that we shouldn't destroy our off road track to see if anyone wants to play oval. I have no intrest in DO and most of the locals worked very hard last year in building the off road track. We don't want to see the off road track cut up for an oval when we want to improve the off road. redbaron 03-18-2004, 11:13 AM Daytona? what is that? terryf 03-18-2004, 01:53 PM watch out rebaron you may be labeld a trouble maker saying things like that !!! redbaron 03-18-2004, 02:02 PM terryf, Yea I know, But the carpet guys have their thing and thats cool. The Off-road guys try to have a good off-road track just to have it cut up in the second season. I'm sure the carpet guys would be very unhappy if they were told that the carpet track was being turned into an off road track. dan-o 03-18-2004, 04:47 PM any 1/8th gas allowed there????? cory30 03-18-2004, 08:24 PM redbaron, i'm not sure but there is a good chance. My daughter has friends coming over.I'll call you friday evening to let you know. Cory redbaron 03-18-2004, 09:40 PM dan-o, sorry the neighbors won't let us run nitro....noise. I wish we could. adonovan 03-19-2004, 12:58 AM hey red, dont you have a job???????? or do sit at home in front of your cmputer????? i am so ready for off road. i hope this season at the fort is better than last and next is better than this one. see ya around the neighborhood. redbaron 03-19-2004, 08:42 AM adonovan, Yea, I got a job. I'm so good at it I'm allowed to do what ever I want. See you this summer. Call me sometime. Papamerkle 03-19-2004, 07:40 PM Redbaron, I gave up my extra job. Too hard on my health. I'm ready for some off-road racing. I lost my partner/driver to girls. I knew it was going to happen. One good thing out of this-I get the good stuff now. scorgon 03-20-2004, 02:04 AM Hey Baron, hows your backyard track we may need to have a place to run this year so the oval guys can have there fun...you know if the owners want an oval they will have an oval no matter what we say.. redbaron 03-21-2004, 02:55 PM I don't know about my track yet. We will have to see what transpires at summit. I will expand mine if I need to. I would rather support off-road at summit but it sounds like there won't be. cory30 03-21-2004, 07:56 PM Redbaron, I'm ready to go saturday,I told Harry he needs to pack his stuff and go.I'll talk to you later I've got buggy work to do. BenPuterbaugh 03-22-2004, 09:12 AM You mean they are going to get rid of the off road altogether? I thought it would still exist on the infield of the oval. redbaron 03-22-2004, 10:01 AM Ben, They say it will still exist but from previous experence I know, it will limit the off-road track to a very simple/boring lay-out. It will also cause further drainage problems as the corners will be banked causing more water to gather in the infield/off-road track. cory30 03-22-2004, 06:40 PM red, Are you one of the racers in line to buy the planet? redbaron 03-22-2004, 07:18 PM sure, why not. I don't think my Wife would mind. scorgon 03-23-2004, 11:21 AM what if tony stewart bought the planet (he's been there it check it out) and turned it into a dirt oval? oh no for the off road racers... redbaron 03-23-2004, 11:26 AM That would be cool, Tony likes off-road too! adonovan 03-24-2004, 04:47 PM Is there any kind of schedule for this transformation/addition of the track? Ive heard May, but is there anything more solid than May? Will the track be ready by May or will they start work in May (yes weather permiting, I know)? They could advertise a day they want to do the work and ask for racers to help. I'm sure alot of racers would like to get outside and help the track out. I know a few guy's that are really ready for outdoor offroad racing, me being one of them. adonovan 03-24-2004, 04:50 PM Maybe we could get Tony Stewert to come up and race at Summit for a oval race, and advertise it in R/C Car Action Mag. that would be awsome. redbaron 03-24-2004, 09:25 PM adonovan, I haven't heard of any track building dates yet. sheath 03-27-2004, 01:43 AM Talked with Phil briefly Friday afternoon. If the weather would cooperate, he wanted to start Saturday, 3/27. If the rain persists, it will be next Saturday. smoothie 03-27-2004, 03:09 PM My dad and I just purchased 2 new losi buggies to race there every week. Does this mean you guys are going to get rid of the offroad all together? Also, are you going to have a mini t track there? Thanks adonovan 03-27-2004, 08:26 PM Yes there will be off-road this sumer at the Fort. If you have any questions you can e-mail them at summitrcraceway@yahoo.com, or call them at (260)471-2722. Or click on fwsarc.8m.com then click on the Summit raceway link. sheath 03-28-2004, 01:36 AM Smoothie, Yes, like adonovan said, there will still be an offroad track at Summit Raceway. I know of a lot of people that have purchased or plan to purchase offroad kits. Nick's Hobby Shop has sold several that I know of in the last few weeks. Sounds like there is a lot of interest building for the offroad this summer. JonHobbies 03-28-2004, 12:08 PM I wish you guys could run 1/8Th Scale Buggy class, Its the best of off-road racing. Does anybody know if the RC Barn runs Nitro and is there a summer schedule ? :jest: ovalrookie 03-28-2004, 10:08 PM hay baron ....i got a truck ...so now i can start to have some fun .....now it is skill not $$$ that helps you win ....i cant wait i hope they make some huge jumps this year instead of speed bumps .....see you soon ....... kevin wallyworld 03-29-2004, 01:10 AM JonHobbies, go to www.fwsarc.8m.com and click on our links page. Both RC Barn and Custom Made Hobbies are listed there and I would recommend checking both tracks out for 1/8 nitro racing as the tracks there are very large and noise is not a problem for them. Good luck and have fun this summer. :) redbaron 03-29-2004, 07:19 AM ovalrookie. Bring on the off-road truck. you gonna have fun now! ovalrookie 03-29-2004, 04:11 PM baron where do you have your personal transponder sitting on your xxxt ??????? redbaron 03-29-2004, 08:36 PM Right behind the receiver. I got the receiver slid up on the chassis toward the antenna holder.. cory30 04-01-2004, 06:15 PM not much excitment here! sheath 04-02-2004, 11:14 PM Sorry this is not up sooner, but Phil told me to post that Saturday and probably Sunday (April 3 and 4), he will be out working on the offroad track. Any volunteers are welcome and appreciated. redbaron 04-04-2004, 06:13 PM off-road U turn. cory30 04-04-2004, 06:17 PM Has anyone seen what has been done? adonovan 04-04-2004, 06:40 PM Sat. the 3rd Phil was out with force, he had his catapiller with him and tore up the track only to rebuild it, faster, bigger, and tougher. He lengthend the track by a few feet so the straight aways are longer. theres a little bank to it in the corners. The infeild was also redesigned, it now has the biggest tabletop jup around. When I left Sat. afternoon he was still working on it. You need to stop by and see the changes. The oval guys will be very happy to see the return of oval to the Fort. The off-road guys should also be apeased: it looks like Summit will be known for HORSE POWER :D . Good job Summit. Aaron Donovan redbaron 04-04-2004, 08:16 PM Oval looks sweet....Not sure what to say about the off road......Time will tell. cory30 04-04-2004, 08:47 PM Baron, Did I just read oval looks sweet? Coming from you? redbaron 04-05-2004, 12:37 AM Cory, Yea I said it. The Oval does look good........But like I've said before, If you try and build oval and off road together one of them will suffer. The off-road will now be tiny compared to what it was. It appears as though we will be forced to run 3/4 of the oval and a big U-turn for the off-road. Just wait till the first car jumps incorrectly and lands smack into on comming traffic.....Ouch! I know this stuff. been there too many times. terryf 04-05-2004, 02:37 PM you tell them redbaron but trust me they wont listen to words of experance!!! dale taylor did it back in the day but I will say his track was alot bigger then the one they have now I supose they wont run nitro oval cuz of the noise o-well vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
