OK, one question? What is everyone (most) running as far as a buggy out here? I am looking at a B4 or a BK2. Leaning towards the Losi, but want to get something that is supported by the local area. Thanks for your input.

drowlett: Both Buggies are good, I prefer BK2. There is about a 50/50 mix.

To everyone on here. It was NOT my Idea for the dirt oval. I think it's a waste of time!

You know, I could say the same about Carpet. But I wont. And even On-road. I quess you just dont understand. Dirt Oval racing is the Grass roots of motor racing. If it wasnt for the dirt guys there would not be Daytona. My thoughts are run what you want to. I will runt the oval if I have a chance. I myself drive from Anderson to Bradley IL just to run on a Dirt Oval. Dirt Ovals are not dead by all means. www.dirtoval.com is a excellent site for alot of tracks. Granted there are more in the N.E. of the country then there are here. I can name 3 with in 3 hours of Indy. Have even heard of one going in Lafeyete. I hate to say this but DO never died, It's making a HUGE come back. You have to try out a MOD Sprinter with a 8 turn single and sliding around a conner wide open sometime.

I'm not even talking about Carpet. I'm not talking about full size racing. I'm talking about radio control Off-road racing in our area. I feel that we shouldn't destroy our off road track to see if anyone wants to play oval. I have no intrest in DO and most of the locals worked very hard last year in building the off road track.We don't want to see the off road track cut up for an oval when we want to improve the off road.

Yea I know, But the carpet guys have their thing and thats cool. The Off-road guys try to have a good off-road track just to have it cut up in the second season. I'm sure the carpet guys would be very unhappy if they were told that the carpet track was being turned into an off road track.

any 1/8th gas allowed there?????

I gave up my extra job. Too hard on my health. I'm ready for some off-road racing. I lost my partner/driver to girls. I knew it was going to happen. One good thing out of this-I get the good stuff now.

Hey Baron, hows your backyard track we may need to have a place to run this year so the oval guys can have there fun...you know if the owners want an oval they will have an oval no matter what we say.. :devil:

I don't know about my track yet. We will have to see what transpires at summit. I will expand mine if I need to. I would rather support off-road at summit but it sounds like there won't be.

You mean they are going to get rid of the off road altogether? I thought it would still exist on the infield of the oval.

Ben, They say it will still exist but from previous experence I know, it will limit the off-road track to a very simple/boring lay-out. It will also cause further drainage problems as the corners will be banked causing more water to gather in the infield/off-road track.

Is there any kind of schedule for this transformation/addition of the track? Ive heard May, but is there anything more solid than May? Will the track be ready by May or will they start work in May (yes weather permiting, I know)? They could advertise a day they want to do the work and ask for racers to help. I'm sure alot of racers would like to get outside and help the track out. I know a few guy's that are really ready for outdoor offroad racing, me being one of them.

Maybe we could get Tony Stewert to come up and race at Summit for a oval race, and advertise it in R/C Car Action Mag. that would be awsome. :thumbsup:

I haven't heard of any track building dates yet.

Talked with Phil briefly Friday afternoon. If the weather would cooperate, he wanted to start Saturday, 3/27. If the rain persists, it will be next Saturday.

My dad and I just purchased 2 new losi buggies to race there every week. Does this mean you guys are going to get rid of the offroad all together? Also, are you going to have a mini t track there? Thanks

Yes, like adonovan said, there will still be an offroad track at Summit Raceway. I know of a lot of people that have purchased or plan to purchase offroad kits. Nick's Hobby Shop has sold several that I know of in the last few weeks. Sounds like there is a lot of interest building for the offroad this summer.

I wish you guys could run 1/8Th Scale Buggy class, Its the best of off-road racing. Does anybody know if the RC Barn runs Nitro and is there a summer schedule ? :jest:

JonHobbies, go to www.fwsarc.8m.com and click on our links page. Both RC Barn and Custom Made Hobbies are listed there and I would recommend checking both tracks out for 1/8 nitro racing as the tracks there are very large and noise is not a problem for them. Good luck and have fun this summer. :)

Sorry this is not up sooner, but Phil told me to post that Saturday and probably Sunday (April 3 and 4), he will be out working on the offroad track. Any volunteers are welcome and appreciated.

off-road U turn.

Has anyone seen what has been done?

Sat. the 3rd Phil was out with force, he had his catapiller with him and tore up the track only to rebuild it, faster, bigger, and tougher. He lengthend the track by a few feet so the straight aways are longer. theres a little bank to it in the corners. The infeild was also redesigned, it now has the biggest tabletop jup around. When I left Sat. afternoon he was still working on it. You need to stop by and see the changes. The oval guys will be very happy to see the return of oval to the Fort. The off-road guys should also be apeased: it looks like Summit will be known for HORSE POWER :D . Good job Summit. :thumbsup:

Yea I said it. The Oval does look good........But like I've said before, If you try and build oval and off road together one of them will suffer. The off-road will now be tiny compared to what it was. It appears as though we will be forced to run 3/4 of the oval and a big U-turn for the off-road. Just wait till the first car jumps incorrectly and lands smack into on comming traffic.....Ouch!
