View Full Version : The MAVERICK OVAL CHASSIS Thread
rcgen 02-17-2006, 10:11 PM Check out www.swiftracingproducts.com (http://www.swiftracingproducts.com) There is a setup for the birds on there.
Butts(tm) - Yeah, I'm getting another car. It's going to be my "brushed" car :p
swtour 02-18-2006, 02:35 AM Jake,
What handling differences would I expect between a Maverick slider and a OPC?
cneyedog 02-18-2006, 08:57 AM Jake, do you and DW miss us yet ?.....  :jest:
JPH Racing 02-18-2006, 02:38 PM Eugene: Glad the site has helped you out! Keep me posted on how your racing is going.
Mr. Butts: One can never have too many Maverick in the stable :)
M.P.: Check out my 1/12 setup from last years Snowbirds. It's a great starting point for the Mini on carpet. Please let me know if you have any tuning questions after you get a run in.
SWT: You'll do fine with either one. I've run the OPC down your way and have done very well with it. But, the Slider will give you some extra tuning and with the optional battery tray might be more suited to your series races which vary in location each time.
Rich: Of course we miss you guys! I wish we could make an asphalt race out your way one time ... It would be great to run with you guys at a club style race! But, as always, our yearly visit was a good one.
JPH Racing 02-18-2006, 02:51 PM Forgot to mention: I put up a short article on the site, added some Racer's pages, and put up pics of our killer new t-shirts! Look in the Product section, they are highlighted at the bottom of the page.
JPH Racing 02-18-2006, 08:02 PM How many of you Maverick Racers are using the motor coolers?
I used one during the Snowbirds and was amazed at how well it worked. A few times, it actually had frost on it! I can't wait for the summer times races to come around, this unit will make a big difference then. Just wondering if you guys have had the same experience? One cool thing, they fit in the Maverick pod. I was able to turn the car upside down and cool the motor in the chassis.
Jake

Jake
Wow, Imagine that, I can turn my car upside down too, While I'm racing it! No motor cooler needed.
As a side note, I raced at the HW monster today with the 05, In the highly competitive stock class I turned my best ever lap times and counts, Only three or so weeks ago I turned my first 7.1 lap(its a huge track)and my 1st 33 lapper. Today I ran some 6.9's and two 34 lappers.
This track, Jake is the one you guys should run on. Well actually, This track and Stricklands park in Daytona and if you guys could make it you should try MTR down Mr. Boylans way too. But at no track in Fl will the speeds rival what are hit at the Hobby world Monster.
Here's a picture for AC, And this is only half the track.
Oh yeah, We win the prize for the largest flag and pole too. http://www.snowbirdnationals.com/races/MVC-884F.JPG
rcgen 02-18-2006, 09:24 PM Hey Mr. Butts(tm) thats the same track I ran on today in the 4300 brushless class lol. Today was our first 4300 race. There were only three cars in the field but I believe its going to grow very fast. I was able to turn a constant 7.2 lap and the fast guy turned a 6.8. The main provided some close racing between the 2nd and 3rd place car. It was too fun, I'll have to do it again next week.
Jake,
I haven't had a chance to use my cooler yet,but I'm glad to hear it works,I hear there is a mod you can do to it to make it work even better a different fan or something.Mike Bush said his worked well last week, but it depends on the outside air temp as to how well it cools.Does this mean that as it gets hotter that it won't work as well? it can get pretty warm here is SC during the summer months.
jhseckinger 02-19-2006, 02:01 AM Ok guys ...I must have been sleeping or had to much to drink again ...what motor coolers are yall talking about..??
burbs 02-19-2006, 08:22 AM I believe the Much More is the hot one now.. Its like using freeze spray on the motor.. Its pretty trick.. But expensive to..
Roadsplat 02-19-2006, 08:53 AM Anyone know if these would fit on a brushless motor too?
JPH Racing 02-19-2006, 11:26 AM Mr. Butts: That track looks awesome! Would love to come out and give it a run sometime!
Pepe: I'll just have to keep using it and find out how it works when it gets hot out. I'm hoping just as well as it did at the 'Birds.
James: Much More is the company. It's hard to explain the unit, I'm surprised you didn't see my car on the table, with a fan unit snapped on the motor?
Burbs: Yeah, $79.99 is kind of expensive, but that's only 10 cans of air. And, you don;t have the chance of freezing the brushes in the hoods and not starting the race.
Ray: Not sure? Anyone know if the brushless and brushed can diameter is the same??
yokman 02-19-2006, 12:02 PM brushless and brushed can are about the same.
jhseckinger 02-19-2006, 02:38 PM Sorry Jake.....I didnt want to bother ya to much by staring at ya car all weekend...its hard to look at a clean Maverick without drulling....drull and electronics dont go togather...lol
tightline31408 02-19-2006, 03:35 PM hey jake! I left u a e-mail
JPH Racing 02-20-2006, 11:46 AM James: Dude, you can check my car out anytime, as many times as you like! That's why we're on MFG row!
Tightline: I'll see what I can do! Gotta talk to the banner guy, I've got an idea that might work well.
jflack 02-20-2006, 12:25 PM WOW, what a race! The bird was great, Team Mav did very well. Congrad to all the Maverick drivers! I learned even at the Bird 2 classes is just 2 much for me to keep up with everything. I was very happy for my first time at the bird B-Main in stock and 19 turn sportsman.
How many Maverick guys are going to the Roar Carpet Oval Nats? I will be running Stock ONLY.
tony 13 02-20-2006, 01:18 PM Man I thought I posted last night but I guess it didnt work...
Mr Butts that track is freakin awsome!!! I wish we had a track like that out our way. Even if it was half that size I would be happy:) only one way to release the frustration of not having a permanant paved oval out in nor cal....AAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!! lol
JS yot too could have a car that looks like that. It just takes a little time. Sometimes a little too much time..
Raptor_MS 02-20-2006, 01:20 PM WOW, what a race! The bird was great, Team Mav did very well. Congrad to all the Maverick drivers! Why not 19T?
Kenny
JPH Racing 02-20-2006, 02:15 PM Ray: 1.42 is what I get on a brushed motor.
Jimmy: You did great your first time at the 'Birds! It is strange how you're there about 24 hours a day, minus 5 hours for sleeping, but still have a hard time getting the cars ready! I swapped sleep for prep time, and that bit me in the A's ... Just too tired to get the job done. Anyway, It was great to meet you and I'm sure next year you'll be inside the top10!
AC: Road trip???? :)
tony 13 02-20-2006, 02:26 PM you buying??? if so I'm game....:)
Taz_S 02-20-2006, 05:39 PM road trip??
JPH Racing 02-20-2006, 06:32 PM Yes Tim, we're going to Florida ... They have Hooters down there, so I take it you're in? In fact, why don't you get three airline tickets and AC and I will keep you company! :)

BMCALLISTER01 02-21-2006, 06:09 PM Jake

thanks
Brian
rcgen 02-21-2006, 07:39 PM The package came in today Jake. Chassis is all sanded and glued. Looks like I'll have an extra week building my "brushed" car since mother nature will not be cooperating with us.
MK Race 02-21-2006, 11:48 PM Thanks Jake, awesome service.
Also, t-shirts look great.
Maybe the Maverick drivers can get together for a group photo on Sunday morning?
Marauder 02-21-2006, 11:56 PM Belated congrat's to the "Bird" racers. Was able to watch some of it on the net and was really impressed by the way you guys ran! Third shift's killin me or otherwise I would'a been round by now.
Telemetry testings on hold until I'm back on 1st shift next week depending on how wet it stays around here. Still too cold for cap's at this time on the present surface. Our tracks due to have a new coating applied thanks to the wrong paint for the stripes which is causing all kinds of problems with the asphalt.
Jake, what's the ETA on the Battery Doctors and the latest word on the Proto Chargers? Wanna get a couple of shirts too but would rather wait till I can get several items at once. Also I need to call you about the rear axle carrier (original).
Mark #10 02-22-2006, 01:16 AM Thanks Jake, awesome service.
