Mark #10 01-25-2006, 03:56 PM Building my new maverick, and I am going to a Finishline Medium double slot Sprung Steel T-Plate for this car. For those running the Steel t-plate, what are you running for shock oil, Piston (I have HPI Shock), and spring?
Thanks in Advance!
 Mark
Mark,
I run a sylva copper or black, either one works in most cases,#2 piston with either 50-60 weight,My track is pretty bumpy and in the winter I go to 30 weight, this is for caps on a outdoor banked paved track.

Thanks pepe,
Actually, I'll be running the car on Flat Carpet, 135' Runline. Cant wait to try the new car. Running it this weekend at the Midwest Brushless Oval Challange Warm-up race!
 Mark
JPHRacer 01-25-2006, 11:50 PM With an HPI shock run 70wt #2 or #3 piston. Silva Copper spring. If its bumpy run 60 wt.
I personally always have better luck with glass on carpet. With a glass 0.063 t-plate I would run 50 wt with a #2 piston.
I was always one of the most stubbern people when it came to switching to glass for carpet, but once I did I just found that it was more consistant and easier to get the car setup especially is the track has any type of carpet ripples.
Hope this helps

JPHRacer 01-26-2006, 12:02 AM First time on a forum!!!! How does the offset t-plate affect the cars handling and in what instants would you use it. I have my pod offset with the t-plate in the center right now. The track is flat ozite rolled out with a few small ripples or bumps. any suggestions? What are the pros @ cons of the opc chassis? Thanks for any help.
That question comes up a lot. The offset t-plate makes the rear end stay more planted coming out of corners, but it also will more quickly initate a corner. Its going to be more responsive. I have not found a situation on flat tracks where the offset t-plate has not been faster.
The way I look at it is, if you car find more mechanical traction on the LR to help the car coming off of the corner, then you can take out tweek to compensate and in the end you will have a free'er race car. It lets you run less tweak yet still maintain the same grip levels.
The OPC chassis has slightly different flex characteristics then the slider, but IMO both are awsome chassis. I like having very fine adjustmensts with my batteries especially on carpet, so because of that I have yet to ever run an OPC on carpet, but my opc on asphalt that I ran a lot last season was wicked fast. I'm sure the OPC would be just as fast on carpet, but I personally like making small adjusments with my batteries.

D+Sracing 01-26-2006, 01:56 AM Thanx for the info DW!! Very helpful.
JPH Racing 01-26-2006, 02:05 AM Added Mauraders (Randy's) telemetry pics to the Photo section of the Maverick site.
Davepull: I'll be bringing some on the servo plates, just for you!
D+S: I see that DW answered your questions. Please post up more if you have any!
BMC & Kenwood: Spoke to the importer today, they say next week should be the week. I'll post up and send e-mails when they are here.
Mark: What changes did you make to the new chassis versus the one you've been running? Man, Sonny's brushless race looks like an awesome event! Let us know how the warm-up race turns out.
DW: Don't you have cars to build? Thanks for posting up, but get back to planning your dominating trip to Florida! :)
AC: That goes for you too!

BMCALLISTER01 01-26-2006, 05:48 AM Jake
I ordered a motor cooler several weeks ago. Did you keep that information and the credit card info or do i need to reorder since they were out of stock at the time.
JPH Racing 01-26-2006, 01:11 PM AC: How was Ol' Willie?
BMC: I saved everyone's info this time, since the orders were left open. You're first on the list to get one.
CBear3 01-26-2006, 01:18 PM Check Jake's thread on overstock stuff in the Swap and Shop too. I didn't notice it until now. F Brushes, IRS Caster Blocks, KSG style center shock mount.
tony 13 01-26-2006, 02:43 PM Jake willie kicked butt Texas style he played for almost 2 hours, not bad for a 72 year old man... We ended up following his bus the Honeysuckle Rose without knowing it when we hit the golden gate going north. we were going to follow him to the hotel but we left the guy alone. It was one hell of a show. Now its time to wrench, I will see you in a couple of hours.

AC: You Willie groupy you!
Everyone: New oval option from Beefy Products ... "Teal" front end springs. These are in between a red and a green standard spring. Should be a great addition to your tuning options. They will be added to the JPH site today. Look them up under Beefy Products / Oval Upgrades. We also have their aluminum body posts, silver, blue, red and black!
Marauder 01-26-2006, 09:07 PM This came up on Ebay a little while ago if anyones interested... Search Maverick!
Maverick mini mav 12th scale OVAL car, used very little, slight scratches on battery side, from outdoor flat track use. This was my personal car and anyone out west that has seen this car run know;s how good it is. ksg caster blocks, KSG servo mounts, darkside center shock mount, hpi shock, silva side shocks ,plus an extra silva shock, IRS big diff ring axle. Extra parts-4 t-plates,2 painted body's with alot of usefulness left one mccallister monte, one putnam dodge. also included 3 clear bodies, one putnam, one mccallister monte, one taurus. tires, nib granites, whites, one grey, and some used tires ,still descent to use. This car is super clean and just add electronics and go racing. Questions lmk
JPH Racing 01-28-2006, 12:23 AM Yep, that's a good Mini Mav for sale. It's KOZ's from up in our area. There's another one on HT, from Larry B that would be a good buy too.

D+Sracing 01-29-2006, 12:37 AM Hi guys, run my first race with my new 05 HE. The car handled amazing, better than the rest in the corners, but lost big in the strait! I only placed 3rd in the b main in 19t. I'm still running hefty 3300 bats, 1.84 @ 1.85. Everyone that placed better was running smc's Ib 3800's!! Can I compete with my bats, or should I buy some new Ip 3800 hefty cells?? Thanks for any help!
tony 13 01-29-2006, 12:45 AM Buy some cells. They will make a big difference. most of the 3800's out there are pushing 1.20+ so good 3300's dont quite cut it. Check with your track before you buy because if they are going to allow 4200's in the upcomming weeks your new 3800's will be obsolete.. Find out what is allowed and buy the max Ma/h possible. Jake has some good packs at the shop and he ships, otherwise support your local shop after you see what is legal and availible. Hope this helps,
AC
I'd have to agree with Tony 38's are a world better than 33's and if your track allows 4200's which they really shouldn't be, go for those.
D+Sracing 01-29-2006, 01:36 PM Where do I find info on the 4200's?
totalrc 01-29-2006, 02:47 PM Jake due to my move to New Orleans being moved up to the day the Snowbirds start I will not be able to make it down this year. I had planned on stopping by to say hi, looks like it will have to wait until next year. Good luck to all of the Maverick Crew.

Lee, Enjoy your stay in the "Chocolate city". We'll do it up royally just for you in Orlando in a couple of weeks.
JPH Racing 01-29-2006, 04:49 PM Fresh packs are an important part of going fast. The current crop of cells are killer, with voltage's in the 1.20+ range ... IB's, IP's, they all seem very good. The 4200's will be great as well, just ask the track director if they are legal before buying them!
You can find info on the 3800's and 4200's on SMC's website.
Rich, yes I will be seeing you soon! I'll be flying in Weds night this year. Sorry to be missing the festivities at Charlie's!
Lee: Sorry to hear you won't be able to swing by and say hello! good luck getting things set up in your new home. I hope everything was left in one piece after all the flooding?
Mr. Butts: Wahoo! A week and a half left and we're headin' your way! You're gonna have to keep an eye on DW and AC until I get there though ...
David Butts 01-29-2006, 04:58 PM Mr. Butts: Wahoo! You're gonna have to keep an eye on DW and AC until I get there though ...
I don't believe it would be in their best interest for me to keep an eye on them. My view on what is acceptable or prudent behavior may not be what is in the best behavior realm to most.
Other than that, Hey DW and AC, Jakes not here yet, Lets party dudes! First round's on me:freak: . Got any good gossip on Jake that I can use to bribe some free stuff off him?
JPH Racing 01-29-2006, 05:00 PM Hmmm .... I guess that's why DW specifically asked for you to keep an eye on them?? :)
JPH Racing 01-29-2006, 05:30 PM Well, at a quick glance these are the Maverick Racers who are attending the Snowbirds. (I'm sure I missed someone, so if you read this please post up!)

jhseckinger 01-30-2006, 03:19 AM I need a little help here people....what setup tools do yall use to tell what deg. of camber and caster you have..just need to know what my settings are for setup ...
Probably the best set up tool is the unity, it is very accurate and repeatable which is very important. That with a scale board from lefthander and some calipers and you should be able to set up the car really well. Here's the link for the unity tweek board, http://www.unitytool.com/Unity_Tools_Tweek_Boards/unity_tools_tweek_boards.html
Roadsplat 01-30-2006, 08:40 AM I agree with pepe 100%...the unity tool is probably the best unit out there. Along with being very accurate and repeatable, it is very easy and fast to use. I usally set my LF camber at ~ +1.5 - 2 degrees and RF at ~ -2 - 2.5 degrees. Caster I go 2 degree on the L and 4 degree on the R. Of course, this can change slightly depending on the track and what the car is doing but I start out at those settings. Also usually run zero degree on the toe.

David Butts 01-30-2006, 06:32 PM I need a little help here people....what setup tools do yall use to tell what deg. of camber and caster you have..just need to know what my settings are for setup ...
James. I use the RPM camber gauge. I think they retail for about $8 or atleast it did when I bought mine years ago and it's very easy to use. Camber is self explanatory but you can also use it to check caster by lining it up with the kingpin from the side. Nowhere near as precise as the Unity but nowhere near the cost either.
See you in a few days. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:eek:
tightline31408 01-30-2006, 09:43 PM Too my maverick teammates!!! wish I could have made the trip with yall ,but i cant  so show them what u are working with. team maverick will ROCK THE HOUSE 4 SURE.

Jimmy
JPHRacer 02-01-2006, 12:28 AM The official countdown for the birds has started. 6-days and counting.
Got to run the 6-cell car for the first time this past weekend. It was faster then my 4-cell mod car, which I was very happy about. : )
I still am pumped just thinking about the rip that car had down the straight.
It made my 4-cell car with a 6-turn feel dog slow. And I set TQ with the 4-cell car, and again tunrned the fastest laps of anyone.
This should be a good year. Even if the 6-cell car comes back into two pieces I will still know I had some fun. :)
tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock.....
DW
tony 13 02-01-2006, 01:51 AM I am down for a Maverick pic.. As DW said his car was flyin fast. Two Mavericks took TQ this last weekend on the rug. DW TQ'd mod and I TQ'd 19 turn. The cars are workin' and I hope they stay that way at the birds. I cannot wait its going to be a blast. Look forward to meeting the rest of the maverick nation. get the shocks rebuilt and buff those kingpins to a high luster shine!!! Its birds time baby!!!!!!!!!
AC
I just trade my pro3 solid for an 05 HE. My inspiration for the change was this forum as well as the setup help etc available on the net.
Scott M 02-01-2006, 08:39 AM Goooood Luck To Team Maverick At The Birds!
Marauder 02-01-2006, 12:47 PM Dale, I think you made a wise choice.
The rest of you guys at the 'birds' I'm hopin you open up a really really big can of whoop-ass on those other guys... best of luck! I'll be keeping up with your progress online.
ohiorcracer 02-01-2006, 01:52 PM Good Luck all My Maverick Buds I wish I could make it but unfortunetly I dont have any work to pay for it right now so maybe next year will look better. Send a message to all other competetors that you cant win without control. Good luck.

AC
JPHRacer 02-01-2006, 03:12 PM Dale: I think you will be quite happy with the switch. Let us know what kind of track, what class, and we can give you a good base starting setup for it.
DW
Wow ,what great response already! JPH racer, I race on a 155 ft centerline ozite flat track. I usually run 19t ultrabird motor class. Can anyone suggest which way I should run the car (slider or solid) as it is coming with both chassis? Also spring, shocks oil and (hpi)spring,t-plate, rear steer, caster, camber ,tires (I run trc's), front end location etc....
NOT TOO MANY Questions right? Thanks, Dale.
tony 13 02-01-2006, 07:55 PM On thing you can do is go to the www.swiftracingproducts.com site and check out some of the setups. I know my carpet setup is on there (AC's). I run the slider chassis and I have had some luck with that setup. Check it out, it should include caster, camber, springs, oil ect. If you cant find it or dont like it let us know..lol
AC
davepull 02-01-2006, 08:50 PM hey jake don't forget to bring 3 servo plates with my name on them.
JPH Racing 02-01-2006, 10:32 PM Hank: Glad to hear the '05 is complete! Stop by and ay hello when you make it to the 'Birds, I'll bring a couple of trays for you.
Geezer: Thanks! We've missed racing with you and Josh. Hope to see you guys at Oasis soon.
JFlack: A group photo sounds like a good idea!
Dale: Welcome to the Maverick Crew! Scoop out the website and then let us know if you have any questions.
Scott: Thanks! Good luck at your race this weekend!
Dave: I'll bring ya 3 servo plates! Come find me, I'll be there late Weds.
