Been running my T-plate offset on the Chassis. What does that do compared to if I ran it centered on the chassis?

Thanks!

Hey Mark, when I got my car I set it up with the t-plate centered. At Allen's race I switched it to offset t-plate and the car turns in a lot harder and comes off a lot harder(pushes out less).
At the Fastlane race it was centered and I used very little wheel to get the car to turn. I can't wait to see how the car runs this weekend at Omaha. Won stock last year with the KSG and the 05 goes through the corner fastest.

See you guys this weekend.
When are you guys getting there and staying at?

Hey Jake just wanted to say i finally got to run the new 05 opc on a banked track at Classic Hobbies in Akron Ohio and man was it hooked up. That car so so awesome i didnt make any changes to it the whole night it was that good, I did lack horsepower though so i had a hard time keeping up plus they were using the 3800 batts. and i was using 3300 batts so it did help them in a way. Any way i did purchase some 3800's and getting a few new motors so i cant wait to get back there in 2 weeks too kick some butt. I am the only one at the track around here that has one of these things and it is making peoples heads turn thats what i love about it. There is only one drawback though: The rear cross brace on the left hand side is kinda weak when you have the body post on the outside hole, cause i wrecked once and it had cracked on me and it wasnt a very hard hit. But anyway i love the car it is awesome, Thanks again Jake.

hey kevin you may want to think about doubling up the rear cross braces. I have cracked a couple when I find myself hitting the boards head first. hope that helps keep that maverick out front :)

Kevin: Glad to hear you've been doing will with the Maverick! Let us know how the next trip to Classic goes for you. I'm sure new batteries and motors will make a difference! On the crossbrace issue ... Like AC said, you can double them up if you have troubles. I still run one, and I hit hard! I've only broken one on the right side in the last year and a half ... But, AC has broken two on the right side this season ... Aluminum body posts are hard on carbon fiber!

burbs
11-14-2005, 03:52 PM
Wow i never broke one. i took some hard hits.. One in particular blew out both side shocks and the center shock still held up.. I used flat head screws with the large anodised washer GS sells.. It allowed for a larger head on the screw keeping it more braced..

i also saw a guy last year explode his whole car.. he hit another car full speed in brushless.. broke almost everything, but the mount brace held up.. I wonder if a 3mm brace would work better??

MK Race
11-14-2005, 06:26 PM
Hey Mark#10, did the patch up job hold up? There were some pretty hard hits this weekend. Matt's car looked like it was pretty tweaked in the main.

Well I TQed and won stock at the Oval Shootout at the Omaha Hobbyplex last weekend. TQed by almost a lap over 2nd. Didn't break my record from last time, but the track seemed slow for the stock guys.
Looks like I need to get a 05 for brushless to try and run with Wildman.

Burbs, I was thinking the same thing 3MM brace,I'm pretty hard on Equipment,I ordered two braces,I may double up to be safe. Can't wait to get back to LiL Talledega I should have the OPC dialed in by then.I'm naming it the "widow maker" it's going to be all black.

Hey MK Race,

It held.....but the car was pretty much a pile after that:(. I was lucky to Pull off the 2nd place finish in the a-main. I got a new plate comin, so I cant wait to hit the track in Vinton Sunday!! Matt has a new plate coming as well for his car!!

It might have just been a perfect hit. I have yet to break one since I had my car, before last years snowbirds, and I run aluminum body posts. There is no give except at the brace. I am running the single brace too.

What are the different wheel base are you all running? Particularily for the 05 OPC on asphault. I measured my and it's 10 1/4 inches. It feels ok but I measured my other cars hd0700 10 inches, 10L4 w/irs rear pod 10 1/2 inches and they feel ok too. Basically, I need to know an all round wheelbase for a variety of tracks from small tight to large sweeping ovals.

pepe
11-16-2005, 07:49 PM
rcgen,

That's one of the great things about the Mavericks, you can change wheel bases without having to change bodies,it makes for a great tuning tool for someone who goes to different size tracks.I run all my HD's at 10"s but now with the 05 OPC I will be able to experiment with some different ones.

jflack
11-16-2005, 08:11 PM
Good Question! Simple rule is faster the track the longer the wheel base, Slower the track shorter the wheel base. This applies to most track and surface types, but they're always exceptions to the rule. A good starting point is to put the frontend in the center position and the pod in the center. Then you can adjust the pod, to a shorter and to a longer position to see which is faster. You can also adjust the frontend some without a body ajustment. Also remember if the front bumper is in the middle hole you can move the body forward and backwards with only a few redrilled hole on the roof.

rcgen
11-16-2005, 08:49 PM
That's basically my setup now: pod center, bumper center, and the frontend a little more forward off center. I am assuming you would adjust wheelbase using the frontend since you have the most adjustability in increments.

jflack
11-16-2005, 09:10 PM
That's a good starting point. I adjust the rear pod first, then if I can't get the car to corner right a frontend and/or body movement is next.

burbs
11-16-2005, 09:13 PM
be carefull tho.. moving the body forward for wheel base purposes will change the down force of the body.. the further forward it is the more down force it will have.Gaining wheel base and downforce is not always a good thing.. it can also decieve you into thinking the longer wheel base doesnt work as well..

I have found it is best to use a different body when going from short to long.. make sure it is mounted the same just compensate for wheel cutouts..

also the further forward you mount the bumper will effect how the body forces the front end down..think of it as a lever.. the further out it sticks, the easier it is to push down..

i did middel one everything.. keeps everything nuetral..

pepe
11-16-2005, 09:45 PM
Mike what does all middle put the wheel base at?

MK Race
11-16-2005, 10:59 PM
Are you guys talking about moving the pod or moving the axle? By moving the axle, doesn't that change the leverage on the pod?

I usually leave the wheelbase the same and just change bodies for short or long track. But this is just for stock racing. Faster classes you might run the same body for both length tracks. Right now I'm running the axle all the way forward and the front end in the middle.

jflack
11-16-2005, 11:49 PM
The rear pod wheel base adjustment is made only at the axle carriers. And yes, moving the axle carriers will make the car looser or tighter. It all depends on the track size and surface.

front axles is not the proper way to change the front width.. thats proly why that was said.. moving the tire out on the wolfe axles soften's the feel of the spring.. being able to move it in and out by arm placement doesnt change rate... thats a usless adjustment anyway.. this car doesnt need it.. i hope sometime soon im on one again..

Another good weekend with my Maverick. TQ and Win in 19turn at the IROAR Fall Oval Championship, Vinton,IA

After replacing the chassis plate this week (Thanks Jake for the Quick Shipping) and getting my Maverick back on track, the car was pretty good. Still need to do a little fine tuning for that track. Its off to Tri-Clone for the Leftovers Friday. Extremely stought field of 19t cars will be there......Cant wait to give em a run for their money with my Maverick!!

Well the board has been down for a couple of days.. nice job mark and good luck.
At the local carpet drack DW and I headed out sunday for some oval action. I qualified second and ended up winning spec 19. DW had some bad luck in mod but his car showed some promise as always. Happy Thanksgiving to the Maverick driving crew, stay safe, have some fun and keep those Mavericks out front!!!!! :)

Jeremy: Finally saw the article today. Very cool! I think Eric did a very nice job with the write up. In his defense, our chassis does not come with adjustable front track width. I agree, to have some, you just need Wolfe axles. But since they are not include, the chassis does not have the option ...

Burbs: Proper or not, it's a tuning option I use often. Changing a shim behind a front wheel to fine tune a setup is quick and easy.

Katfish: Glad to hear you're getting that track figure out! 38 laps on a track that size is moving along REALLY good! Keep up the good work!

Mark: Awesome news! You've been on a roll lately! Good luck at the Tri-Clone this weekend.

Nice job last weekend Anthony!

Hey, did you guys hear, Greg Hartman finished in 2nd place overall in the 6 Cell Mod class at the Oval Masters!

I'd like to wish all the Maverick Crew a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Jake, Katf1sh's car was glued, I saw firsthand how well it was working and he drove very well too. We're gonna have a big time this saturday as the weather should be "Chamber of commerce". No chance of the dreaded "R" word and highs around 70. Yeah it's good to live in Florida. sometimes? I hear another Maverick driver is coming out of semi-retirement for this race too. Should be interesting. Also all the new batteries will be being used for the first time in a larger than local show here this saturday. I'm thinking it will take a run better then the existing track record to get into the pro 19t "A". Me? I already signed up for the "B" main. I dont want any of that "A" main action. Dem boyz is serious!

Mr. Butts: Signing up for the B before the race even starts? Or is B for Butts? Hope you guys have a great raceday out in sunny Florida.

Jake just like Butts(tm) said it "WOW". We had excellent weather, a great program, sponsors and the racers. Not enough can be said.

Moving from brushless to brush was just minor speed controller setting. I've never ran the car with a brushed motor and it proformed flawlessly w/o the speed :p

I ran stock and was off by a lap or two but was able to make the show and qualified 9. The main I found the right gear and was up to fourth until I spinned, hit the pipe it turned the switch off. Oh well there is the next race. Now I know first hand want the GTB can handle with a brushed motor. Its time to do more racing with it.

The #8 05Maverick OPC is now my primary car.
