Hey Guys,

Mark Steiner here......
I just got my Maverick '05 OPC the other day, and decieded to check out this thread. Look forward to reading and posting on this thread alot.

Saw the car for the first time at the Nats in Toledo this spring. After moving over for Mr. Hayes several times each heat, I decieded to go check out what he was running. Brad was real cool about letting me check out the car & ansewering my questions. I really liked alot of what the Maverick had to offer. After checkin out the the Swift Site, and talking with Burbs on how he was having great success right out of the box....It was a no brainer and I made my purchase.

Cant wait to get the car done and go racing this fall!!
 Mark

Check out the new piece in my stable. It took me awhile to complete it but it was well worth it. Hopefully I'll be able race it with the current speedo/motor combo LOL...and with a little help with mother nature I'll make my first FOCAR event.

What do you think Katfish...can we get a bl class for Strickland. As you can see mine is ready :p

Its both Kat.. didnt you know .. thats why brushless is better.. you can grab a snack in between rounds... and the best part is you never need to leave your pit space..

Rich: A spectator sport? With those two it should be an awesome spectacle!

Tinman: BBQ sauce for tire traction? What brand??

Mark: Welcome to the Maverick Crew!

rcgen: That's a good looking ride! The ESC is a little big, where did you put the t-plate? :)
How is the speed on the brushless systems?

Kat: How did the 1/12 scale run??

T-Plate? What's that...J/K. I was surprise it was able to go between the t-plate and battery brace. The speeds are awesome. I was running the 4300 motor unlimited in a 19t truck class in Hobby World for a while. I was able to keep up. Straight away speeds are fast and the corners smooth. I have the SS+ with the 5800 motor in the OPC. I ran one pack yesterday in the "stock" setting. It was my first time running that motor and in a "stock" setting and I couldn't seem to put it full speed  It's not fun when you run at 3/4 the throttle. I geared it like a stock motor so it looks like I have to go down a couple. LOL...We got rained out so I wasn't able to really test the car in race situation.

This car was really planted when I first put it on the track very happy with it.

1/12 scale hmm...I might have to convert my 1/12 hyperdrive now....

Hey guys, just picked up a slightly used 05. I'm going to run it in either stock or brushless. I took the car apart to sand the edges and I'm putting it back together now.
Just a few questions:
All for the carpet.
On the rear pod, what holes( top, bottom plates) are you using on axle carriers?
What t-plate for stock? Brushless?
How close are the body mounting holes to the KSG?

Hey Mark#10, we be team mates now? :)

Thanks.

mk.. i would recomend blue springs as a start.. any sofer will not work.... it may get around the track, but it wont be fast... we start with blue, and go as high as red or gold..... center spring id go green or silver... 30 wt in sides, and 50-70 in center.. 1/4 steer in it

i also have my full setup on the swift site... it is for med to high bite..

you were pretty fast last time i ran with ya,.. i would use you setup off your old car as a baseline...offset the t plate tho.... then make slight changes from there... i used a setup off my prev car as a base... i knew that setup worked... most good setups will transfer enough to get you close.. its the little extra fine tuning that makes it better... this car turns like an animal...

Thanks Burbs, that setup is pretty close to the setup I ran on my KSG. I did have the side springs at red and gold.

Sorry to hear you guys were all rained out over the weekend .... Most of all for Katfish and crew, three weekends in a row!?! Let me guess, Tuesday and Wednesday are sunny and beautiful?

JFlack: You seem to favor a softer side to side setup. On carpet I tend to run golds, or gold and red ... I'm wondering what your thoughts are behind the soft setup? And, do you tend to run stiffer front springs to compensate?

Way back in the day, I used to run much softer side springs than anyone else on the carpet. But, I ran purples in the front. The car turned really well this way ... Your post just reminded me of that.

MK: Ex '05 owners initials are MB? He seems to be a great guy and I'm sure he'll have good luck with whatever he's running. And, I'm glad to have you join the Maverick Crew!

Dave: Sorry man, I've got two left and I'm keeping them!!! :)

Hey Jeff, I think he likes the faster one.:D

Whew, finally got the OPC going the right direction. For some reason the battery brace was causing interference and or shorting. We could get roughly half a lap before the Spektrum cut out and went to failsafe. Well, I noticed that the nut for the brace could actually contact the battery bar which could cause a short. Only problem is that if I ran the batt's back one spot that problem should have been fixed so I'm not sure if it was just the nut or what.
Either way, I took the brace off, didn't have any problems all night, finally got to run a full pack through the car and got a TQ and an A Main win out of her. About 2 seconds off the track record. Not a whole lot of folks coming out for asphalt racing here (Fastlane) though, but those that have been out the past month aren't slouches, so it counts for something.

i would say the slider is prolly your best bet on the rug.. However for tracks with the new high grip ozite, id say the solid would work better....Ive noticed with all the tracks i went to last year, the solid cars in general seemed to be faster on the new ozite...

We only come out with new stuff when we know that it can be done better. Right now the new car seems to be on fire. It was a big step forward and in the right direction.

BTW congrats to Jake for his TQ and win at Racers Haven in Bakersfield Ca at the Southwest Tour Race. We have never been to that track ever before and he rolled in and cleaned house in the 19t class. TQ-Win case closed. I got 3rd qual in mod but had an unfortunate accident of being to tired to re-trim the car for the main. But still had one of the better cars there.

It was a good day of racing with some of the fastest guys on the west coast.
