Jake, the 05 TQ'ed and won it's debut on caps last night. Car was a rocket all night long. The track is a D-shaped oval and I don't know what it was about the car but it was a missle off of 2 down the back straight it would pull 5-8 car lengths from the middle out. I will email you later with setup info and stuff.

I saw my first 05 yesterday at the track and I was impressed it looked very well made.We don't get to many conversion cars here in the south for some reason.

well i had the car on caps today again.. yesterday i ran the slider, but i switched to the opc today... the car turned the fastest laps with a few 7.2 and finished around 7.4.. for practice days and this time of year, thats fast... the warmer it gets the faster we get.. usually in the 6.7-6.9 is fast... but it takes a few weeks for the track to warm up for those kind of laps..

the car turns like an animal... i like that.. by my second run it was very quiet in the turns.. which is usually a sign of a efficient car... i was also running a green 3 out of my lathe LOL.. and i just guessed on a gear.. i havent bought any new stocks yet so this one had to do.... i sold off my carpet stocks, so i could get new blood for the paved season

What manufacturers parts are most widely being used to complete the 05 HE Maverick Chassis?

katf1sh
05-08-2005, 09:15 PM
wasssup ginsu?

you will need the associated front end:
wolfe king pin kit:comes with king pins, shims and spring spacers
wolfe 1/8th front axle kit
associated or HPI center shock
rear axle and bearings including ride height adjusters
silva side shocks (2) plus assorted center and side springs

is it worht it? YES! i am in love with my car and have backet it up on the track.
also i am at most of the races you attend.....so i can give you alot of help with the car. also jake is a fantastic person..always on call to help answer questions and has parts in stock to keep you going. plus i have some parts at the races in case you have a brain fart, lol. hope this helps? bill

Glad you guys are experiencing the same thing we here on the west coast are seeing. The 05 car just flat out turn. It will out run any other car I have ever driven in the corners. Slider or OPC its just an animal in the corners.

I have only had one run on the OPC but have found that it turns just as hard, and is just as effecient in the corners as the silder. Its just nice to not have any flex in the batter tray area (somthing that can slow you down) I was able to run lower ride heights with the opc on asphalt without any tray scraping problems.

Ginsu: For overall parts spec I run mine with-
-Raceway Castor blocks - super strong and slop free
-Asc 9110 kingpins
-Wolfe 1/8" axles for better bearing life
-KSG swaybar with Swift in-between bar sizes, either 65 or 75 thou depending on track
-Asc Center shocks with ASC unobtanium .71 shock shaft
-Silva Concepts side shocks
-Silva Concepts x-soft spring steel t-plate for mod racing
-IRS Axle and hubs
-Swift Ceramic diff balls-once you go ceramic you never go back
-Silva Concepts front and Center springs.

Happy MD to you all

Will the battery tray from the '04 car bolt up yo the '05 chassis? If so can you still run the t-plate in the offset position on the chassis?

JPHRacer
05-09-2005, 10:28 PM
Bob it will but the batterys will be sticking a good 1/4" + outside of the body. The chassis had to be made wider for the off-set t-plate configuration and the tray was made narrower accordingly.

If your worried about the tray flex ask jake about the banked track tray.

bob i have a banked track tray you can try on sat if you would like. this way you can see if you like it before you buy one... i thought it was more solid then the standard.

plus it raised up .100 so you ride height could be a bit lower..its like the old racetech og slider. where it mounts on top of the chassis plate..

RJ1: That's awesome! Which track were you at? It's very cool when the car has that kind of corner speed compared to everyone else! Can make it in traffic sometimes, because the closing speeds are so fast. Looking forward to getting your setup.

Pepe: Thanks! I'm not sure why the South is conversion kit challenged? Maybe you could help us change that? :)

Burbs: Keep up the good work!

Ginsu: If DW and Katfish didn't answer all you questions, please e-mail me anytime. jphracing001@aol.com

Katfish: What-up-Bro!! Congrats on another awesome FOCAR event!

Bob: All the trays use the same tray adapter and hole pattern. But, DW is right, the older trays are wider than the new stuff, and would more than likely end out outside the body ... Well, depending on how the body was mounted! Let me know what you think of the kits, and if you have any more questions post 'em up of send me an e-mail.

Hey Brad! You've been really quiet, whatch-been-up-to?? Any racing??

Mr. Butts: How did the FOCAR even turnout for you?

Jake,

I have not raced since the Nats. There is no carpet racing around here once the weather gets nice. I am planning to run some at the velodrome here in Indy this summer. Might try to make it up to the ROAR Region 5 Paved Oval race in MI to try the car out on caps there too.

Brad you should try to make to Omaha once this summer, we still race carpet once a month. Email me if you want our schedule. Kinda slow for carpet during the summer, but if we know that some people are coming from out of town we can change plans. We also run in Marshalltown Ia, banked concrete, the track hate to love.......or is that the track you love to hate?

Chad, I don't get to travel to race as much as I would like. Is the track in Omaha called Hobbyplex, or something like that? If so, I have seen pics, and it looks like a great facility. Let me know of any big races, and maybe I could make a road trip.

Mr. Butts: How did the FOCAR even turnout for you?

Well since you asked so I'll answer. The FOCAR race #2 at Hobby World was just awesome, From the turnout to the quality of racing, To the traction and the weather. I was smiling from the moment I stopped by on the way home from work on friday and there were already people there practicing at 1:00 in the afternoon all the way up to when we closed the gates on satuday night. Yup I was there then too. My 05 continues to run well(really well) and I finally got my 37 lap runs in. Two of them and would've been a third in the main if it weren't for a next to the last lap brush with another car. My "A" main run ended with a 36 4:00.22 7th place finish.

We also had a speed run which was a first for Hobby World and FOCAR. Wow! I never thought I'd see a car go 5.2's on a 360 foot asphalt track on foams. Tony"the rocket"Padilla won it and I came in second with my 04 OPC with a 7x1 and a 6cell pack in it. My best lap was a 5.8 which which would've wowed'em if it weren't for Tony's blistering run. Wait'll next year:eek:

Brad: Velodrome? Zoom, zoom, zoom! Sounds like fun! I haven't been on a velo track in ages. You and Moss should hook up and make that Roar race. Maybe by then he'll be running an '05? :)

rcgen: You weren't supposed to tell Burbs about the magnet! Glad to hear it made it to the fridge already ... Please let me know if you have any questions on the assembly.

Burbs: Remind me next time, I'll sport you a magnet too! LOL

Bob: Thanks, let me know how it goes for you.

Pepe: You can order one anytime. Shoot me an e-mail jphracing001@aol.com

Mr. Butts: Excellent! I've heard only good things about the Focar race (and I'm out in California!) and I'm glad you had your '05 in the show and running well. Sounds like that '04 car would have been fun to take for a spin!

Rich: Is that Mayann in the "nice teeth" picture of Ronnie?? By the way, that donkey pic you posted had me laughing for 10 minutes! I hope Ronnie saw it. Back to Maryann ... What's up with that?? Ronnie's got to learn how to treat a lady right ... Even if she's 1/12 scale and only turns left ....

12th scale????????/ jason???????? Sorry.. I bought a Assc.12th scale LS back when I ran for Sam and ran it at the velodrome once and then it happened.. the class died there and I am stuck with that car.. haven't run the oval car since then and that was back I think in 1996.. so no way I would get another 12th scale.. 10th scale is fine with me.. at least those cars aren't seasonal

rcgen: Go to the swift site, click on "conversion kit info", then click on "'05 Maverick H.E.", at the bottom of that page are chassis pictures, look at the 2nd one down, left hand side. It's a pic of the side shock mounts. You should be able to match up the mounts and get them mounted properly from that pic.

If not shoot me an e-mail and I'll send you some more detailed instructions. They can be a little confusing the first time you mount them up.

They are? I better go look at my car. Actually there's a picture of them in the instructions that came with my kit, Do they all not have pictures? Jake, You thought I needed pictures? I seem to remember that the chamfer of the ballstud holes were only on one side too,

Thanks Jake that helped. Butts (tm) the driver's side shock mount is longer and a tiny bit different towards the bottom of the inside mounting holes. The chassis and pod is built. Now its time to strip the old L4 and finish the 05 OPC.

rcgen: Glad that helped. That's why I put up so many different photos on the swift site ... A racer can look through them when he's hit a tough spot, or just take a look at the many different ways guys setup their cars ....

Everyone: Please do not ever be bashful or worried about asking questions! Post them, e-mail them, call them in to me ... No worries, I answer questions of all different levels, from all levels of drivers, every day. It just goes with the job and I enjoy it.

Everyone again: Good luck racing this weekend! Post up on how you do! DW and I will be running again on Sunday. I'm hoping DW has another great run in modified.... Or maybe it will be my turn this weekend?? :)
