cneyedog 03-22-2005, 07:15 PM Hey Jake, check out how close the racing was at the Speedway Spectacular .... props the Katfish for gettin his Maverick in the show. It was the closest racing I can ever remember being a part of.

JPH Racing 03-23-2005, 01:34 AM Guys, the 19 turn class at Daytona has to be one of the most competitive local races I've seen. You guys were treated to a great weekend of racing, for sure! Congrats to Katfish for sticking it in the A and keeping it there ... I know some fast guys got bounced out as the last round of qualifying counted down.
Mr Butts: I'm glad you had fun! Don't wait too long to get that '05 out and running. I really don't want to go through the same time frame as we did with your OPC .... Come on, start wrenching and get 'er race ready!
Ohioracer: Nice job Kevin! 2nd in the B, out of 29, is great! Send me an e-mail anytime you need something, advice, parts, etc ...
Hoyt: Where's Y-City? How did the car run for you??
Rich: Awesome!!! I've got to ask, how did Ronnie do with the 1/12 scale??
cneyedog 03-23-2005, 08:12 AM Jake, he made the A main with "maryann" .... lol. I'm not sure where he finished with his mini mav. It looked great for the first time out. Very cool.
TinManSEP 03-24-2005, 09:21 AM Hey Kat..old guy, old school, had a ball at Daytona!!! Drove both of my '04's, cause '05 is still in the process of conquering MTS. Old age must be setting in, just a tick off from the "a". Track was soooo big someone had to wake me up at the end of the straightaway so I would turn left...LOL
Jake..won a 12th scale car in the raffle, have all the parts I need to join Ronnie and MaryAnne, we'll be chatting soon.
Tin Man
katf1sh 03-24-2005, 06:46 PM ok that does it! tin man and ronny will be racing 12th scales together! now i know i don't want/need one! ahahhahahhaah
steve i know you like the 04 opc but i promise the 05 is leaps and bounds better! i cannot tell you how happy i am with this car! or maybe the car just suits my style? whatever it is i like it! lol
and the damn 12th scale car has got to be good! both jake and ronny have put them in the A !!!!!! ahhahaahahahhahahahhaha
David Butts 03-24-2005, 08:22 PM Track was soooo big someone had to wake me up at the end of the straightaway so I would turn left...LOLTin Man
I got news for ya old timer. Hobby World is bigger. Oh I cant wait for the FOCAR race. It'll be Maverick's everywhere. Maybe my new one will be together by then.
Chris Garland 03-25-2005, 08:29 AM Jake,
Can we atleast get the month the new OPC will be out??? the suspense is killing me..
JPH Racing 03-25-2005, 12:43 PM Rich: Thanks for the info!
TinMan: Yep, you're needing a Mini Mav! 1/12 scale is coming back in a strong way all across the USA. Fun Stuff!
Katfish: Yep, just like the 1/10 scale, it's the car that gets into the A!
Mr. Butts: 37 your first time out at Hobbyworld with the '05? Do it!
Chris: Well, here's the latest scoop .... The design should be finalized early next week. Sent to the cutter by the end of the week. Cutting can take 3 weeks, if their schedule is on schedule .... So, I'd venture to guess late April, early May.
The design looks sweet, you guys will like it for sure!

If it's like the 05 slider I would like the first one off the cutter..lol
rcracer567 03-25-2005, 06:10 PM I live in TN. My home track is Little Bristol, Crosville TN. Iwant to know how to get my hands on an 05 MAVERICK!!!!!!!! Do you think it will run with the fast guys on this short high banked oval?????????? I have a L3 that peforms well yet not well enough to break records. Maybe Jake has some good idea what i should do???????
JPH Racing 03-25-2005, 07:32 PM Chris: I'll keep ya posted!
rcracer: I know exactly what you should do ... Order one!!! :)
Is the track carpet, or concrete?
David Butts 03-25-2005, 08:38 PM Mr. Butts: 37 your first time out at Hobbyworld with the '05? Do it!
Well, here's the latest scoop .... The 05 H.E(tm)OPC design should be finalized early next week. Sent to the cutter by the end of the week. Cutting can take 3 weeks, if their schedule is on schedule .... So, I'd venture to guess late April, early May.

Jake, Darn it. I knew I should've waited a few more weeks. For my style of racing(crashing very fast)I prefer the solid chassis. Thats why I bought the 04 OPC in the first place. Looks like a parts order is in the works as soon as I get the kit together. And no, It wont take me as long to hit the track(No pun intended)with this one as it did the 04. Say sayonara to one great working L4.
rcracer567 03-25-2005, 10:05 PM Little Bristol is a carpet track with 95' racing groove. It is high banked and very fast.
Some of the guys run 3.2 or better in lap times. The track record is 71 laps set by
Hacksaw a couple of weeks ago. Doyou think that the 05 MAv is the ticket
for this track or not? The Hyperdrive pro2 shorty is the domination right now.
Shane Mugavin 03-26-2005, 12:50 AM track sounds cool any pics?
David Butts 03-26-2005, 11:22 AM Oh my goodnes, We got rained out lastnight so in a fit of total boredom and with a box of brand new carbon fibre parts to sand and glue(and a twelver) I proceeded to build my new car last night. It's amazing that after sanding and glueing every edge of every piece and I do mean every piece while consuming an equal number of comm drops for the brain that the work seems to degrade after a while.:freak: Luckily all the big parts were done first except for the battery tray which was the last piece and it shows. Oh well as fast as this car's gonna be no one will ever see it.
Jake, What is the countersunk hole for on the front of the batt tray? Some kind of top secret attachment that us rookies have no need for?
There are also several sets of holes in the front of the chassis that look to have no apparent use. whats up widat?
Also are there any future plans of top and bottom pod plates that will allow the pod to be centered with the offset t-plate such as the case with the CW car?
Do you have the winning lottery numbers for tonight?
Do you wish we never met?
Do you wish there were more than 3000 miles separating us?
Do you wish I'd stop posting stupid post's because that phone call you just missed was probably the largest order you would have ever taken?
Ok I'm off to a chat room to pose as an 18 year old sweedish exchange student. Ta ta:tongue:
cneyedog 03-26-2005, 11:33 AM Ok I'm off to a chat room to pose as an 18 year old sweedish exchange student. Ta ta:tongue:
I always wondered what you did when you were'nt on hobbytalk ? .......
Pulifaco, if you read this see what you can do with your boy will ya .....:jest:
JPH Racing 03-26-2005, 02:59 PM RcRacer: I don't see why it wouldn't work great on any kind of track. Can I give you a guarantee? No. But, I do know that there's a lot of tuning knowledge on this thread, and I'd be glad to offer advice anytime ....
Mr. Butts: You worry me sometimes Son! But, I know your sense of humor, and I think it's awesome!
1) Oh, that little hole .... On the tray? Yeah, that one ... Ok, picture this: You've mounted your receiver to the front of the tray, and now you're mounting your antenna, but the center shock mount seems so far away .... What's a racer to do? How about using that cool little hole to mount your antenna? Right next to the receiver! Outstanding idea! Seriously though, that's what it's there for. Use an old body post, cut it down to about 1/2", drill it about 1/4" down for the antenna tube and you're set.
2) Future cool stuff Brad and I are working on.
3) Not at the moment. I don't think the two ideas go well together. Centered pod, offset t-plate. Defeats what you're trying to accomplish.
4) No winning numbers, but I could give you a good guess sometime ...
5) No, I think you're swell ...
6) It does seem a little close at times ... But, I've only got about 30 miles and I'm in the water. It's too cold, and the sharks are too big ...
7) No, I can answer posts and the phone at the same time!
8) More info than I needed to know about you!
Rich: Makes you rethink who you've been chatting with in those rooms, huh?? LOL
rcgen 03-28-2005, 10:58 AM On the mini maverick what are length of the wheel base and it is a kit or conversion?

Eugene, It's a conversion, A darn good one too.
rcgen 03-28-2005, 08:08 PM Eugene, It's a conversion, A darn good one too.
Hmm another 1/12 racer at HW....
JPH Racing 03-29-2005, 12:28 AM Rcgen: Right now, mine is just under 9.25. This is with Wolfe front axles, the front long and the rear long. If you shorten the front, it takes about 3/8" off the wheelbase. If you shorten the rear, it takes about 3/16" off the wheelbase.
The Mini Mav is a conversion kit, including: Chassis, bumper, nerf wing, stand offs, crossbraces, upper plate, bottom plate, motor mount, axle carries, Misc hardware, stickers, set-up sheets, instructions, etc ...

David Butts 04-02-2005, 11:46 AM Yoo hoo, Maverick racers, Is anyone home, Helloooooo:confused:
I am dying to get my new car on a track but mother nature has been a real mother you know what here lately. I' think I've worn out the diff and shocks just looking at it. Vrooom vroom. It rolls good on the livingroom carpet just no one to race with except the dogs. They cheat sniff and scratch themselves and smell bad. Hey thats just like the other guys I race with:eek:
JPH Racing 04-02-2005, 11:53 AM Mr. Butts: Thank you for livening up the place, it has been a little quiet around here the past few days ....
So, what's new and exciting for everyone? Florida has been rained out, but I'm sure some off you have been racing? Right? Well, let's hear about it!
We've got a race here in Nor-Cal tomorrow, if the weather holds out.
Has anyone been to the track where the carpet Nats will be held? If so, what's it like?
In other news, the '05 OPC Chassis has been sent to the cutter. Estimated time, about 3 weeks if all goes on schedule.
David Butts 04-02-2005, 12:18 PM 1. So, what's new and exciting for everyone? Florida has been rained out, but I'm sure some off you have been racing? Right? Well, let's hear about it!
2. In other news, the '05 OPC Chassis has been sent to the cutter. Estimated time, about 3 weeks if all goes on schedule.
1. I know that Phil Owen and Katf1sh are at an indoor asphalt two day race up in Pooler(near Savannah)Ga. along with some of the other irregulars from Team Daytona. No reports as of yet as qualifying is to have started today. Stay tuned.
2. I want one. end of story. I'm an OPC kind of guy. In my 25 plus years of racing I've turned more than one OPC in to an MPC(multiple piece chassis):D Hey maybe the weather will still be so bad I can run my new car with the new chassis before I run it with the old new chassis.
katf1sh 04-02-2005, 12:38 PM no report....the track surface was wet.....needless to say you couldn't set your trim on the surface not to mention trying to race on it. 12 hour trip to eat at sonnys, lol.
Hank80 04-02-2005, 12:40 PM Hey Dave,..sounds like your in need of comm drops for the brain!,.....It's really bad when you have to work on Saturday,....which I try to avoid when I can,..but I was told I can't! Some people have no sense of humor! Now what was I doing,.............
cneyedog 04-02-2005, 12:48 PM uh yeah, what Kat said ....... but Jake, Ronnie was fast on the way home
JPH Racing 04-03-2005, 02:10 AM Mr. Butts: At least give the '05 one or two runs ... Please! We're back to me convincing you this car will be fast and too your liking ... Same conversation we had (for a few months) about the '04 OPC. And, what happened after you tried that chassis? Hmmm?
Katfish: Is Sonny's a good place to eat? Sorry to hear about the rain out, or wet out. I need you to get that car back out on asphalt some more .... I like the calls! LOL
Rich: Maryann was doing 90 mph, huh? Sitting on the dash of Ronnie's truck??
wildman 04-03-2005, 02:20 AM Well the 05 burned up the rug in 19t at springfield mo tonight outside front row qualifing spot, the lead in the middle of the first turn and never looked back! track record and win. This car just keeps getting faster. Jake I promise to try and get the setup written down and send to you sometime this week. The car was working good in the main. Thanks for the great car.
Kevin
katf1sh 04-03-2005, 03:27 AM ronny is trying to divide 93 into 70 and got 165.00 hmmmmmmmmmm
jhseckinger 04-03-2005, 08:17 AM Track surface came in saterday morning...good lap times...kat should have stayed ..local food is better than sonneys....still learning this new o5 maverick would have been nice to have had some more maverick brains to pick...shame they are scared of water..lol....gotta go mains this morning....
cneyedog 04-03-2005, 09:51 AM Rich: Maryann was doing 90 mph, huh? Sitting on the dash of Ronnie's truck??
Well, Jake the nice Deputy from the Georgia Highway patrol indicated it was 93mph.
JPH Racing 04-03-2005, 11:37 PM Wildman: Nice work Kevin! I know you've been doing very well with the '05's! Please send pics and a setup soon!
Katfish: $165? Dang, that hurts!
James: How did you end up??
Rich: I had no idea! I was just being funny with the 90mph on the dash .... I feel bad now, getting a ticket like that really sucks! I'm surprised Ronnie didn't sweet talk his way out of it though ... He didn't the nice officer to pull his finger, did he??
Our racing in Nor-Cal got rained out, but these guys had a good weekend:
Shawn finished 2nd in the 19 Turn class at the Cavalcade of Wheels car show in South Bend, Indiana. Shawn runs an '03 Maverick, and has it in the top three often.
Big Dave took his '05 to a win, and a track record, at Coyote Hobby in Lexington, KY. First time running 19 Turn Spec, nice work Dave!
jhseckinger 04-04-2005, 12:56 AM I got third place b main .......couldn't get the car to hook up .....maby it was the tires..dont know ....
Turbodog 04-04-2005, 03:26 PM Well, Jake the nice Deputy from the Georgia Highway patrol indicated it was 93mph.
Ronnie could have talked his way out of it, but they couldn't explain Katfish sitting next to him wearing nothing but a pink thong!!
katf1sh 04-04-2005, 05:56 PM i'm speechless! and looking for the black helicopters.........he ehhehehehe
tony 13 04-04-2005, 10:50 PM If katfish had been in san francisco he wouldnt have to explain anything....right jake...LOL
As jake sayed Nor Cal got rained out but the maverick crew is ready to go. Asphalt season is here and cant wait till it gets rollin'!!!!!

Hey Maverick brothers from other mothers. I am that Shawn. I was just about to post my results myself until I seen Jake beat me to it. I had to tell him, I was so excited. I had a pretty fast car all day. I just couldn't get it to stop scrubbing the speed going into the corner. Actually lead the race for awhile but Scott C. caught up with me and I couldn't make my bumper wide enough. Man he had some good motor. I'll be sending Jake some pics of my car, and my setup for this style track to post on the site. For now here is the link to our website with the picture of the top 3. Can you guess which one is me??4 cell 19T Main pic (http://www.michianarc.com/index.php?option=com_zoom&Itemid=33&page=view&catid=4&PageNo=2&key=13&hit=1) I also raced 6 cell stock Nastruck that weekend with my L3/L4 and picked up the win on Sat. and Second on Sun.
I wish I would have picked up on this thread a long time ago. Catching up on almost 1500 posts takes a long time. I'm hooked on phonics now I think. I plan on keeping tabs on you guys from now on though. Sounds like a pretty cool group of guys, most of you I'd actually like to meet and race someday, that is if I could hang with the big boys. I plan on doing some more racing here at the other nearby tracks in northern Indiana. So maybe I'll see a couple of you out there. I also plan to hit the Velodrome in Indy sometime this summer with the other two guys in the pic with me. That's Scott in the middle and Jason on the right. Oops, guess it won't be too hard to guess which one is me now.
Jake: I'll get that stuff to you as soon as I get it from the track pic man, he has a bigger higher res. pic than the one on the site.
Hope to keep in touch. Later.
Shawn
BHayes 04-06-2005, 07:39 AM Shawn,
Good job at the race in South Bend. You should come down to race at New Castle. Their last race of the year is this Saturday. We usually have a good class of 4 cell 19 turn. Maybe I'll make it up north to race sometime. Do you guys normally run a 4 cell 19 turn class?
Brad Hayes
RcOvalGuy 04-07-2005, 05:37 AM I don't know if I'd make it down to New Castle or not. I went there once last year and walked away with a bad first impression of a couple of the regular racers that were there. I'll not got too much into detail so I don't start any wars on here, but let's just say I didn't feel very welcome. I'll think about coming down this weekend. I'll have to figure out where it's at again, last I heard the track has moved from when I was there last. As far as our track goes, Last weekend was our big end of the year race so we are done. We actually don't get much 4 cell 19T at our track, or much oval for that matter. We run Offroad, Roadcourse, and Oval all in one night and the majority of the racers run offroad and roadcourse. What oval we do get is mostly 6 cell stock. Being part owner and an oval fan, I'd like to get more oval guys to show up, but just can't figure out how to draw them in. If I don't see you down in New Castle, then I'll keep an eye out for ya where ever else I go.
Shawn
BHayes 04-07-2005, 07:56 AM Shawn,
The new location for the New Castle track is much better. They set up the track in the gymnasium of the Moose Lodge. The track is big and wide, which leads to good clean racing. The previous track was really tight which lead to rough racing sometimes. All of the people racing there this year are great to race with. If you give it another chance, I don't think you will be disappointed. If you decide to come, the address is....
605 New York Ave
New Castle, IN 47362
j21moss 04-07-2005, 09:00 AM Brad!!! did you get the Fox man sold on that 05 chassis yet???? Wondering minds want to know.....
BHayes 04-07-2005, 10:34 AM Moss, I had him sold on it. He was going to get one for the Nats, but now he is not going to be able to go (new wife + baby on the way = no nats). He is not planning to race much more this summer, so he did not get one yet. So yes, he is sold on it, he just has not bought one yet! I am sure he'll have one for next carpet season. The question is, have YOU placed YOUR order yet?!?!?!?
