BHayes 01-13-2005, 01:24 PM I have been putting together my '05 car this week. Some of the parts are still prototype, but basically this is the '05 production design. I think you guys are going to love it!!! The rear shock geometry has really been tweaked since it was first seen on the ADX3 prototype car. It was good on that car.....and I think it is going to be much better with the tweaks we have made. This coupled with the offset t-plate, and some other changes in chassis geometry will all add up to a really fast car. I am really excited about this car. Working with Jake has been a real pleasure. He has put a ton of work in to this car, so I hope you all like.
I will be running it at a race in New Castle Indiana this weekend. This will be my first time running the full '05 design. This is a Snowbirds warm-up race on a Snowbirds replica track. So I'll be sure to pass along whatever setup tips I come up with.
yokman,
If you get tired of hearing about Leading Edge, you can come pit with me! Just joking with you Jason. I am friends with all the LE guys, and they have great products too. I am looking forward to running with everyone this weekend.
Later,
Brad Hayes

davepull 01-13-2005, 07:53 PM hey mod guys I have never ran it I run 19t right now and gear a 41/ 100 I was thinking that I should drop 5 teeth. it is a 9x2 thanks what do you guys recommend???????
JPH Racing 01-13-2005, 09:18 PM Yokeman: Yes, it's the on-road nats that are in March. Thanks for checking on that!
Katfish: I don't want to hear about anything burning on you my friend! And, no kicking my rump ... I'm in gear and workin' hard!
Ovalist: DW was a little behind the car that day, huh? Next time he'll be ready. I'm getting a shock collar for him to wear on the drivers stand ... That will calm him down a little!
Jason: Be nice to Yokeman! I hear good things about you Leading Edge guys. Thanks for posting up and having some fun.
Yokeman: Let me know if you need a Maverick shirt, so you'll stand out in the crowd you're pitting with! :)
Brad: Keep us informed on the new ride! Did you get a new radio? Good luck at the race!
Davepull: I think I'd say more like 8 teeth down? Depends on the timing and motor set-up .... DW will have a good answer for you.
katf1sh 01-13-2005, 10:39 PM dave mod on the rug it's a 6x1 or a 7x1 and a 21-24 120
9x2 were fast 10 years ago lol stay out of butts tackle box!
davepull 01-13-2005, 10:42 PM lol this is the motor I ran @ the birds 2 years ago and it hasn't ran since. it is still going to be alot of fun.
David Butts 01-13-2005, 10:59 PM 9x2 were fast 10 years ago lol stay out of Butts tackle box!
Whoa there big buddy. I dont have any motors that young. Youngest mod arm or motor in my box just turned 13. I still have a Joel Johnson signature modified or was that Chris Dosek? I ran some of both, That's the one that had the purple can and purple aluminum endbell and I dont think it's ever been in a car. That tri-rotor arm sure is snazzy though. Anybody need a 50,000 rpm paper weight?
I still have a brand new slot machine two stock motor too. Talk about a slug compared to today's stuff.?? Need any panasonic 1700's? Yep some of those are lurking in my old battery box right next to the yellow Sanyo 1700 sce's , 1400 scr's and the black 1800 scr's. I bet Ishould probably get rid of that old stuff. Nah someday some museum might want my uh, collection.
JPHRacer 01-14-2005, 12:49 AM dave mod on the rug it's a 6x1 or a 7x1 and a 21-24 120
9x2 were fast 10 years ago lol stay out of butts tackle box!
Heck no dude. I was railing at our last carpet race with an 8x2 in there. 25/124
It was about as fast as what Dave Kisbey was putting into his guys cars. Then again they werent running an 05 maverick.
BHayes 01-14-2005, 07:54 AM Hey Moss, come check out the new car on Saturday. I think you will like it. Hopefully we can get a few more people running it locally. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the newer cars, LE, CW, KSG, Maverick, etc... And like you said, even the old ADX cars are still fast.
yokman 01-14-2005, 08:52 AM jake-a shirt would be cool and some stickers and i'll even take an 05 if you want to through it in.lol. yeah i am loving my car and i am not scared to show it.cant wait til tomorow got 9 fresh 1.18's yesterday and with some luck i'll get the job done.going to be alot of tuff compition though.
jason crist 01-14-2005, 10:06 AM Yokman
Brad can agree with this statement ......
good and a motor = not a win or TQ
great set up + 1.17's + and 63 on power motor = TQ and/or win
great set up + 1.18's + 65 motor +LUCK = guarantee TQ and win......lol
see ya guys saturday
jason
BHayes 01-14-2005, 10:35 AM jason is right...it is all in the chassis. Chassis setup can make up a lot more than motor and battery.
yokman 01-14-2005, 01:11 PM i know jason...
some of us has a job and dont get to work on there car and motors and play at the track all day.how many people were in your main last week?i already know that the chassie i am running is the right 1.and after only running a pan car 4 races or so, i am not really expecting tq.but with some real batteries that i have now i do expect to pick it up.and i ve always got the motor.
see this is why i need MAVERICK reinforcments here in indiana.jump on your horses and come on over to new castle.
smokefan 01-14-2005, 01:27 PM Whats that I hear in the distance??? the sound of horses, is the Maverick posse coming to give Jeremy some reinforcements? LOLOLOL
Hey Brad was hoping to hook up with you this weekend but I have to work. Wanted to see the 05,
BHayes 01-14-2005, 08:17 PM smokefan, too bad you can't make it this weekend. Let me know the next time you plan to go to New Castle.
smokefan 01-15-2005, 03:51 AM Brad you have mail . Don't worry I will I have a L4 I am dying to try out in 4 cell.
David Butts 01-15-2005, 09:48 AM Hey California guys or the midwestern group too. I hope all of you have made it through this seemingly unending torrent of bad weather and catastrophe's that are occurring.
cneyedog 01-15-2005, 04:10 PM Jake, hows the new car coming along ....... man, its less than a month to the birds....time flies.
see you at the birds! .... oh yeah Ronnie said "hi" .... muuuuuuuahahahaha!
JPH Racing 01-15-2005, 05:42 PM Mr. Butts: We're up North of all the rough stuff. So-Cal on the coast is getting hit hard. Thanks for asking!
Rich: The new car is coming along just fine. Should be shipping late next week! Finally!!!
Please tell Rich I would like him on a really bland diet prior and during the 'Birds .... Might help his lower intestine! :)
BMCALLISTER01 01-15-2005, 05:50 PM So the kits are shipping late next week? Will the blue aluminum kits be ready to ship next week? If so i'm ready to make a payment for my kit right now.

cneyedog 01-15-2005, 09:37 PM Rich: The new car is coming along just fine. Should be shipping late next week! Finally!!!
Please tell Ronnie I would like him on a really bland diet prior and during the 'Birds .... Might help his lower intestine!
Jake, glad to hear about the car....... BTW I'll relay your message but Katfish can attest to this, it just wont help cause Ronnie is full of ..... oh you get the picture .......:p  :jest:
JPH Racing 01-15-2005, 09:44 PM Brian: I'll start taking orders on Monday. I'll have the part #'s and pricing on the site, listed here, and e-mailed out to everyone by Monday morning. We'll have blue and black versions available. The wait is almost over!
Rich: Well, thanks for trying .... I guess I'll just have to tough it out with the rest of the racers! I'm surprised you guys invite Ronnie back to the weekly shows ... :)
yokman 01-16-2005, 02:06 AM seen the 05 tonight.get your wallets out cause i seen this car run with the custom works, hyperdrives, ksg, edge and what ever else i left out and it plan held its own for the first time out on the track.so many little trick user friendly things on this car.every time i looked i seen some thing differnt.jake and brad, nice job this is 1 nice car. i want 1.
David Butts 01-16-2005, 12:29 PM It just occured to me while doing a little reading in the library that in atleast two major r/c magazines there are press releases for the mini-mav 12th scale kit. I was wondering if Jake has seen any positive results($ in orders) from those press releases. 12th scale being the smallest(no pun intended)of the oval classes gets really no mention in most areas and is'nt even run in a lot of others including my home track.
There are several people including myself that are wondering if a solid chassis 05 will be available and when since on some of the larger outdoor tracks the speed and resulting impacts have broken the sliders, Both battery and front end on other makes chassis.
I myself and others witnessed an almost $100 single car wreck yesterday. It wasnt pretty. Even broke a brand new Silva rear steer t-plate. I didnt say bent, I said broke as in two pieces. Got two shock bodies and one shock shaft too. And no It wasnt my car. Speed kills! Ah butt(tm)it's so much more fun to go fast. Actually speed does'nt kill, It's that sudden stop at the end that does all the damage.
smokefan 01-16-2005, 12:51 PM Yokman how did you do??? that is the question
yokman 01-16-2005, 01:31 PM ummm yeah.i did no good.my car was great once agian, but driver i dont know about.4 cell stock is like watching grass grow to me.so its 19 turn from now on for me.
smoke save your money cause your going to want the 05 when you see it.
05=very fast car.
concrete walls will kill any kinda car, 1 piece or slider.
jake-how did you guys do with the 05 this weekend?
smokefan 01-17-2005, 02:39 AM Yok gonna have to keep the car I have for right now I'm trying to get a track ready by spring. LOL Good 4 cell stock ought to be right up my ally LOL
BHayes 01-17-2005, 11:33 AM Well, I ran the '05 car for the first time this weekend, and I was very pleased. As I dialed the setup in, the car got faster and faster each run. The car responded very well to tuning. It was very fast and stable in the corners. I went a full lap faster than I had ever gone at this track. And I know there is still more speed left in the car. I made the A, but dropped out of the main. I have several things I still need to try with the setup, which should make it even faster. Here is the basic setup that I ran...
Track: New Castle, IN - 160ft flat ozite
Class: 4-cell 19t
Tires: Pink rears, Pink LF, purple RF (Jacos)
Wheelbase: 10.25" (long pod, short front)
Front Springs: Red LF, Green RF (std Wolfe springs)
Caster: 2° LF, 4° RF
Front arm: LF top inner hole, RF lower inner hole (IRS mounts)
Side Shocks: 30 wt, red springs, top holes on side shock mounts
Center Sock: AE shock, 40 wt, gold silva spring
Rear Steer: 0°
T-plate: fiberglass, .075", center screw removed, mounted offset
Body/Wing: Protoform Dodge/Small Thunder

BA Motorsports 01-17-2005, 08:11 PM Great looking car Jake, I want one as soon as you get them ready to ship.
David Butts 01-18-2005, 10:00 PM Thats good news Jake. There seems to be quite a buzz about the new car. I cant wait(well actually I can because I have to)to see one in person. I'm sure all your pilots will have them dialed in in no time. If I do get to do Da'birds I've decided to try sportsman 19t. Looks like a fun class without the pressure of expert. I'm by no means an expert at anything but I know a little about a lot of things.
JPH Racing 01-18-2005, 10:16 PM Mr Butts: You are correct, we were in two mags with the "Mini Mav". To be honest, really honest, you're about the 4th or 5th person who's mentioned the ads. Now times that by 10, the number of people who haven't spoken up, and I'd say more than 60 people noticed it ... Actually, I have no idea, but that sounds scientific!
Yes, there will be a solid chassis out in the next few months.
By the way: Speed thrills! No impact is too big, they just become racetrack legends.
Yokeman: We didn't race last weekend. But, we're racing this Sunday.
Brad: Nice work making the A against the competition that was there! Sounds like you're no "too" rusty! Give it a few more runs, and we'll see who's leading the A! :)
EHR: Thanks! Should be shipping by Friday .... Give us a call to place that order, or use the website.
Mr. Butts: Hope to see you at the 'Birds! I should do sportsman 19 too ... But, DW says I need to just step up to the plate and take my beating in expert. Strange kid that one!
Everyone: Thanks for all the positive e-mails and calls on the new chassis!
JPHRacer 01-19-2005, 02:55 AM Actually it was more like, dont be a wuss, run expert. But who's keepin' track. : ) ha ha. J/K. Now I'm off the team for that comment.
Cant wait for the birds. Cant wait to me all the guys I dont know, cant wait to hang out with all the guys I do know.
2 weeks and counting.
DW
David Butts 01-19-2005, 05:36 PM Actually it was more like, dont be a wuss, run expert.
Cant wait to meet all the guys I dont know, cant wait to hang out with all the guys I do know.
2 weeks and counting.
DW
Oh! Now I'm a wuss too? Thats it, You're drinking with us now. 1st one to yack on da'track is a wuss and buys the whole place the next round from the lady by the pool who speaka no ingliss. Oh yeah, Last year I got beat by a girl. A good girl but girlie all the same. Plus I've already been beaten by the best, It's time I let the sportsman drivers have a crack at me.
I doubt I'll make Charleys on wednesday as just like last year I'll roll in early thursday morning. see y'all there. Racing or not.
JPHRacer 01-19-2005, 06:39 PM Ha ha ha. Nice. Ya promise. : ) I had a feeling that I would get a response out of that one. The only reason why jake can be called a wuss is because he ran Expert last year. DW
