Thanks, Mark sheath 09-22-2003, 10:47 AM Carpet racing is getting closer.... The new Ozite has been delivered, and is just waiting for the final preparations. All the old carpet is up, the boards are getting a fresh paint job, and the drivers stand is even getting a facelift. This Tuesday and Thursday will again be scheduled work nights to get the indoor track ready for the winter season. If you would like to volunteer to help out with the preparations, come on out this Tuesday the 23rd and Thursday the 25th. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The first oval race will be Saturday, October 4th. with oval races every Saturday night through the indoor season. Several 'special' races will be held again this year, which expect to attact some of the best oval racers in the midwest. Xpressman 09-22-2003, 11:27 AM I think I might be able to make it on thur to help out some but not sure yet. I know some of the guys from Indy are looking into coming up and it should make for a fun winter of racing. I have a couple of question and concerns. Just how much pit space is NOT reservered? I know some only use it when they race and it is open other nights but how much is available if all the reserved tables are taken away? Also for oval racing is it possible to start on the back straight like we do for the mains? This way a track record can be set in the quailfiers as well as in the main. This also keeps the starts alot cleaner. Last season with everyone starting a few feet from the timing loop everyone was really bunched together and the cars in the back were actually starting on the dirty part of the track. Brian Anthony alexaj46 09-22-2003, 01:33 PM Xpressman, I already talk to them about that issue, their plans are to run everything from the back side of the track. Their even going to put down starting spots on the carpet. Also the timing line will be on the same side too. They also would like to hear about any issues or ways to improve the racing there. They did a great job there last season and with some improvements, it should even be better this season! They did a great job there last season and with some improvements, it should even be better this season! Jim Thanks Jim. I think the best way to improve racing is to go with 4-cells. I would like to what everyone thinks about this. In all the classes it should bring the racing closer together, be easier on the budget, and more fun to compete in. I know there are guys form MI and from down around Indy that are looking into coming and racing as long as there are going to be more then 3 or 4 in a class. My other suggestion is to have what we call in MI a Busch class. I believe in Indy they call it Spec. The rules that worked the best in Busch where any rebuildable stock motor, TRC spec tires, Trinity Spec battery, NO WINGS, max. of 1 in. rear spoiler, and you could cut the back of the body out. I will bring a copy of the rules with me on thur to share. dynoman007 09-22-2003, 04:39 PM in my eyes racers dictate the classes that are run at each and every track if many people show up that want to a particular class that is what will be run at this point i believe 6 cell touring stock oval and 6 cell pan oval stock have been confirmed .. i would like to see some open 4 cell mod for fun .... david hill summitt race director .. wallyworld 09-22-2003, 05:10 PM A couple of important changes at Summit Raceway besides the new carpet. We have a new AMB digital transponder system that will allow the use of personal transponders. Transponders can be bought at the raceway currently for $64. The main purpose of this was to help the racing to run smoother but those familier with it know there are many other advantages also. We will be racing oval on saturdays starting Oct.4th with doors opening at 10AM and racing to begin at 5PM. For those who haven't been at the speedway since april we have a new speed shop ( Nicks Hobby Shop). If you can take a minute to stop by and check out the parts he has in stock to see if he needs to be ordering any parts you may need during the season please do so. If you ask anyone that has dealt with him you will find out that he has done everything possible to give them the service they need. On the subject of tables. The first time we see that there is going to be a problem in that area we will purchase more, we have the capacity in the building to install more. Also I agree with you on the four cell racing, about 5 yrs ago we were running 5 degree motors in our touring cars on the indoor roadcoarse and everyone that did it had a great time, especially the new racers. Also when you get to the raceway pull up to the front door and just inside is a dolly to wheel your equipment inside, feel free to do this and then park your car in the lot. For those that don't know, there is security at Gateway and there has never been a problem with anyone's cars in the parking lot but if you leave your car parked to long in the fire lane in front of the raceway they will ask you to move it. Phil and I are looking forward to the new season and will try to keep everyone updated as much as possible. On our page at the clubs website www.fwsarc.8m.com will be the calenders for each month along with other important anouncements. Also we will try to keep things posted here. Thank you. David, I will disagree with you that as a track owner, operator, director, that person can try and push for different classes to be ran. Personally I am only going to run 4-cell for oval, if that means I only practice then so be it. If any one thinks I am nuts on saying that then come talk to me and I will tell you how it is CHEAPER and more FUN for all involved. Brian Anthony Krisfo 09-23-2003, 09:31 AM Brian, I agree...I will be running some 4-cell stuff this year. I don't know if I will be any good or not, but I will try!!!! What type of car are you driving? Brian alexaj46 09-23-2003, 06:00 PM Guys, I would agree that it is up to the racers on what classes to run. The only exceptions would be if there is a limit on time, then there?s is a need to condense the number of heats, thus restricting the number of classes. I do plan to run 4c stock just to get it going. Brian I do run the 6c spec class and if you stop bye the track you will see my spec car. Looks like the rules are pretty close to what we run in Indiana. Jim Xpressman 09-23-2003, 06:52 PM Guys, I would agree that it is up to the racers on what classes to run. Jim you aren't going to believe my spec car....anyone remember Spectra???? alexaj46 09-24-2003, 09:00 AM lol!! Xpressman 09-26-2003, 12:34 PM I was at the track yesterday and the carpet is down. The place is really taking shape and looks to be a fun carpet season. The first oval race is going to be Saturday the 4th of October with doors pening at 10:00 AM and racing starting at Racing 5:00 PM. Sonny Brown 09-26-2003, 06:19 PM I think we have a few guys coming up next weekend, I know we will have enoght to run 4 cell stock and maybe 19turn. Sonny, Looks like I won't beable to attend this sat as I am now coaching football until I will graduate in dec. But after that I will be everywhere. I will be at the race listed below. Oval trophy race Sunday, October 12th. This race was originally scheduled for the Schoolyard R/C track in LaGrange, IN, but was rained out. The event has been moved to the carpet track at Summit R/C Raceway. Trophies, prizes and lots of great racing. You can call the track Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturdays at 471-2722 for more information. Also look at the website http://hometown.aol.com/sheath9831/raceway.html sheath 10-05-2003, 12:05 AM Check this link for a flyer on the Schoolyard/Summit Oval Race. Race Flyer (http://pdxracing.sytes.net/schoolyard~summitflyer.html) This Saturday, October 4th was the first night of oval racing on the NEW Ozite carpet of Summit Raceway. It was great racing, with a great season to come. Come check it out next weekend!! Xpressman 10-05-2003, 07:50 PM Are the results still going to be online for this season. As a side note if possible all the past results should be under another link or atleast seperated from the current ones. Can't wait to race this weekend!!!! Sonny Brown 10-05-2003, 08:24 PM Had a great time at the track last night. For those that haven’t made the trip, the track is smooth, fast and had pretty good bite for the first race weekend. Run line is about 145 with 12’ wide lanes. More then enough pit room and new AMB digital lap counting system. The only thing they need is for more racers to take advantage of the track. For those coming from Indy it’s a straight shot up I-69 to exit 109-A. Left off the exit and then about 1 ½ on the left. (look for a Subway Sign and turn into that Plaza) _ Hope to see more guys next Sunday for their first trophy race of the year. Sonny, I heard it was a good time. What class(es) are you going to race next weekend. Right now I am thinking 19t (never ran the ARCOR stuff) and or mod. Sonny Brown 10-05-2003, 08:36 PM Brian I will probably run 19t again. I used a Team 1 Arcornite motor last night with a 2.03 roll out. Trying to bring some of the Indy crew next weekend and I here rumors of a Big guy from Kentucky and some bearded guy that can wheel pretty good from Cinncy. Jim Sonny Brown 10-06-2003, 12:30 PM Full face brush, 36 degrees. sheath 10-06-2003, 03:22 PM Xpressman, Yes, the results will be posted online for all the races. Good suggestion about having the prior seasons results available on a separate page... will keep from cluttering up the current results page, or deleting results after so long. We just need to iron out the procedures to save the results, and get the saved file to me so that I can post it as soon as possible. I will have the results from Saturday's oval and Tuesday's on-road available Tuesday night late, after the racing. I may have missed getting Friday's road course results before the system was reset for Saturday's racing. Xpressman 10-06-2003, 04:05 PM Full face brush, 36 degrees. Thanks if this can be done. -Monti- What was the start time at Indy? I think it was somewhat based on that and I know there was a discussion about starting earlier adn they decided on 5. I think 6 doesn't sound all that bad as we would still get out a resonable hour. Monti, Are you coming on sunday? Brian Monti007 10-09-2003, 12:05 PM I can not make it Sunday due to work. But I am going to make it for Saturday night. -Monti- Sonny Brown 10-09-2003, 12:11 PM In Indy we started at 6:30 on Saturdays, we ran 3 heats and mains with an average of about 65 cars and were usually done about 11:30. dynoman007 10-09-2003, 12:12 PM i dont see any changes to the starting times but we do run 3 qualifiers on saturday and would be happy to pre enter you if you would like .. if several people need the time to be moved im sure it could be arranged but at this point i think more people want to start at 5 so that we get done earlier... dynoman007 10-12-2003, 05:44 AM we are happy that all could make it out last nite for the local race we hope to see more for sundays trophy race .... monti if we would have known you were so fast we would have began the races at 3 pm lol ........... big thx to all the guys from van wert who came out and hope to racing is as fun tomorrow...... this excludes you russ  Xpressman 10-12-2003, 08:21 PM Thanks to the PDX crew and Summit Raceway for putting on one of the best shows I've been to in a while.
