I was thinking about running this Friday. What has the turn out been like.
About how many touring cars have been showing up to race?

I will be taking a break from racing for about 4-6 weeks before heading into indoor season full swing.....I need a break from it for a spell.....racing every month at the velo, racing at 2 other tracks this summer, and putting together two races at Schoolyard Raceway.....plus working a full time job!!!!

ahhhhh, the life of a racer!!!

Don't forget about the last trophy run of 2004 at the Schoolyard Raceway........for more info call (574) 457-5501 late evenings......or (574) 539-1936........

Race is scheduled on September 18th 2004.......racing starts at 5:00.....rain date set for the following Saturday....

Be there....or you'll miss out on some hard core, close nitro/electric racing!!

Sean,
The first Saturday in October starts the left turn only action.

Kris,
Put the radio down and put your feet up and take it easy. Once you find yourself driving home from work and trying to figure out how to do it without turning right, it will be time for oval again. hehehe

Sheath,

Sounds like a plan to me.....a much needed and welcomed break is what I need. Got a new car for 4 cell, been running 4 flat Jenny with 6 cells all summer at Schoolyard. Managed to bring the pan car class back up there. When I do come back racing after a vacation I will most likely run 4 cell stock, maybe mod....and 6 cell stock, and one other class to be determined at a later date off and on. We will just have to see what is out there. Been thinking about running roadcourse 1/12 scale to prepare for the US Nationals over in Cleveland over Turkey day.......

I will stop in from time to time and just watch and stuff....maybe even do some MC work behind the computer if ya'all let me lol

I am interested in running a 6-cell Nascar type class on the indoor carpet oval. I was wondering if anyone else runs pan, or if anyone else would be interested in this type of class.

Ryan,

I know I am interested. Down at the fort 4 cell was popular with some drivers. I know I will run 6 cell stock, 4 cell stock all in same night. I'll race anything with a radio, tires, and a motor!!!! LOL So come on down and race 6 cell with us...the more the marryier!!!!!!

In a month we'll be starting our indoor oval season. We are going to be having the same class rules as New Castle and Terra Haute. They will be adapting our Nastruck rules as we will be changing a couple of class rules. Also we will be running an Indiana Triple Crown Championship series with these tracks. I will have more information soon. Thanks.

Hey guys, I'm looking to switch to your 19T 4-cell class and I wanted your opinions on the best motor to get. you run by the ARCOR rules, correct? I've heard good things about the Kisbey motors, but when I was there watching, there was a lot of fast guys. So please let me know your thoughts on 19T motors and which one you think is the best.

Krisfo
09-03-2004, 09:57 PM
Most fast guys are running the Team 1 RC 19t motors...which are pretty good out of the package. The kisbey's are okay in my opionion, but can be finicky. I have been running an outlaw oval class at a track with 19 turn motors and 6 cells using ARCOR rules. In general I find on the dyno and on the track reedy quasar brushes, and some recut and shaped reedy 767's work well too.......

But Putman has the X brush which does really well......

And WALLYWORLD.....when can I get some track time with my KSG.....Paul maybe we can get together on the same day and u can help me with it??? I really stunk up 4 cell last year and wanna do better on and off the track.....so I won't be a back marker (draggin da brick)........

Hey, I was just wondering if there is a more concrete schedule and rule set for this track yet? I looked at the website and didn't see anything about class rules or a definite race schedule with times. As it is now, I run both Oval and Roadcourse so information on both would be great, thanks.

Right now looks like every Saturday night is the normal schedule. Only thing that changes it is a trophy race or a Indian State Championship series race....

4 cell Rules:

Any pan car chassis
40 oz Weight
Nascar Bodies
Wings allowed
ROAR 27 Turn Rebuildable Motor

6 cell Stock / OUTLAW STOCK
42 oz weight
Nascar Bodies Only
Wings Allowed
6 cell Batteries
Motors will be discussed with track owner. Reason a few of us at LAgrange want to run this class indoors and try it out. We ran it as an OUTLAW class up there with 6 cells 13 turn motors and 6 cell 19t motors and we was flying!!!

hydro....the 19 turn motor game is pretty balanced. there have been great runs with putnam's,kisbeys, team 1's and others. if you concentrate on the car it'll be fine....i'm not using the common phrase here...just saying to leave the motor bolted in all night and just dial the car in.

I meant Indiana State Championship race.....

So boyz and girls.....need some advice .....

Which is better...4 cell batts with 408 runtime at 30 amps with 1.19 for volatge???

or 430's at 30 amp with 1.173-1.18's??? for 4 cell stock and 4 cell 19t

believe it or not I have even found some 1.192-1.198 cells thru REEDY????

I am guessing those are Reedy's NEW Real Time batteries. They are matched only looking at a 300 sec runout as that is 5 mins like most racing. Those numbers are a lot higher when compared to say SMC or Trinity.

For stock and 19t you want the most voltage as the runtime is mute with 4-cell for oval as we never get to the point were the voltage drops.

I have also have heard if you are going to a BIG race then get batteries now otherwise wait till after on-road Worlds happen in Oct. I am guessing some new stuff is goign to be coming out shortly but I don't have all the details. I'm just passing on what I have heard but if you are find that good of numbers around 1.18 at 30 amps then those are about the best you are going to find with the current GP cells.

Shawn Racing will begin at 5 pm every saturday. Registration will be taken until 4 pm, call in your registration if you can't be there on time. Season starts on october 2 for oval. I will have more details on oval classes posted on our website soon. Also the roadcoarse season will be starting september 26 and starting times will be at noon with doors opening at 9 am. Classes will be 1/12 scale stock and mod, Touring car stock and mod, and 4wd Formula 1. Actually Expressman....the packs I ran last year in 4 cell were 1.167's at 30 amps and 406......

If the numbers on the REEDY REAL TIME are 1.19's at 408 and 30 amps at 5 mins like you said.....aren't those better? Which will mean lap times won't fall off as fast during a 4 min run??? This year in 4 cell I won't be rolling with an Associated car either......gonna be a 6 cell car if the class takes....rollin with a KSG!!!

Hopefullywith better batts, better motors, and a good 4 cell car I won't be draggin a brick???? LOL

Kris

Is the oval track available to roll on either a Sat or Sunday before season opens........kinda wanna do some Pre-Season testing????

alexaj46
09-06-2004, 08:26 AM
Kris, if you already have the batteries, the best way i found to fine the best packs is to discharge the batteries with the Turbo35 and look at the discharge curve. I look to see where the voltage is at the 4 min mark. Avg discharge voltage can be a little deceitful specially if the run times are different. I've seen batteries with the same number look totally different on the Turbo35. Like Xpressman said, you don't care what the voltage is after 240 sec's.

I'll try and see about coming out there this season at least once and since if some of my other racing buddies might join me. Another question, do you guys have a 12th scale oval class? I bought one and soon after there was no one to race with at my track.

The oval track will be set up for practice the week of september 19 sunday thru saturday. We are closed wednesdays and there will be outdoor off-road racing on saturday but it should be OK if there isn't a freqency conflict . Every week after that there will be oval practice thursdays and fridays and racing on saturdays starting at 5pm. I hope everybody had a great summer and we will be looking forward to seeing the oval guys back. We've made some improvments on the oval track that I think will improve the racing for everybody. Thanks.

If any changes are made they will be posted hear so as of now the track will not be open Sunday. The track will be in oval form for this week so if you want to get in some laps before the season starts this is the week to do it.

Hey Kris,

Why do you have to make fun of other's. Why not support or keep your comments to your self. They race that u think is funny ha ha ha!!! Is for a good cause. Oh i forgot thorphy races that you hold lets see we get plaques hmmmmmmm should i make fun of this or not. So the only thing i have to say is watch what u say. not trying to be a @## but don't judge other people's races. If u do Keep it off of the computer.

Hey kris.... there is QUITE a few tracks across the nation, that roll out carpet every race night.... in ballrooms, gymnasiums, ect ect.. So what is so diffrent from puting it in a parking lot.. same exact concept... not to mention the snowbirds carpet is roll out every year for one race....and thats too funny only 850 plus people show up huh..

Krisfo
09-22-2004, 12:36 AM
Hey GUYS!!!!!!!!!

CHILL......OUT!!! Seems odd to me to showcase carpet oval racing in a parking lot outdoors when we race on that surface indoors....what I don't understand is why not showcase the race on the surface out in the parking lot so others know these cars don't just run on carpet....If you had actually read into the post as in depth as I had wrote it..you would have figured out the TRUE meaning of the word funny as it was used. I was curious as to what they were actually gonna do to make it raceable???

I have answers to the later parts of your posts Jason...If you have a complaint about the plques or they ain't good enough for you....just don't race.....nobody drags you kicking and screaming to race....that is your decision. There were plenty of happy faces, and eager racers to compete for those plaques! And as far you making an #$# out of yourself........no comment there that I can legally post!!!! (I think with the plaque comment you accomplished that)

and Burbs.....same exact concept...but one different variable.....all those races are INDOORS!! THe carpet at Snowbirds is rolled out and fastend to the platform built up so the hotels carpet does not get ruined and it is in the winter....not in the midst of an INDIAN SUMMER!!!!! I wanted the person who posted the info to pick up on the post and explain to me how this was gonna be done, since I was gonna go there and support the race. Since I did not get a reply from that person, I have made other committments as of yesterday...If i offended anyone....I AM SORRY!!!

alexaj46
09-22-2004, 08:12 AM
Kris you have to look at the big picture here, this is a club that holds this event once a year, and I bet most of the drivers only race on carpet. So why hold the event on asphalt when you know your club member won’t show up? I think it would cool to Race outdoor once a year on carpet….

Krisfo
09-22-2004, 09:40 AM
That's cool man..........whatever will draw them the most people....I personally love racing on asphalt and concrete....I think it puts another variable in the race, and makes you a more complete driver by giving you experience in setting up for different surfaces.

As stated before, I was jsut curious as to how they was gonna lay it out ......
And guys, you know me well enough....I'll race on just about anything... Just to make a note for all those interested parties....the remaing proceeds from the races at Lagrange (which wasn't much!)....went to THe Victory Junction Foundation. I usually give what is left over to a local charities.

Kris

P.s. Hey Jim you gonna do any racing up here this year???

09-22-2004, 06:45 PM
We are hoping to see the spec classes do well this year at Summit Raceway. One class that's been mentioned is the Busch class. This class is popular at a lot of tracks because of the spec motors and batteries they use. Also the new T-spec Touring car uses the same batteries and motors. We are still working on getting the rules on paper for some of these classes and hopefully we'll have them soon.
